Getting older Director / Projector files to play on Mac Leopard

Hey all:
What's the procedure to get older Projector files to play
nice with Macs running the new o/s? They just won't function on
Leopard -- do they need to be re-rendered, and if so, how does one
do this? Do they have to have the newest version of Director to
convert to a Leopard-friendly format, or is there some other,
cheaper way? :)

What is the problem you are experiencing? I am running
Leopard and have
not seen any problems whatsoever.

How do I get a 3ga audio file to play on iphone
    4s?

You don't need to download an App.
My understanding is that you simply have to change the file extension from .3ga to.mp3 (on each file) and then they should play.
That said, it works on a Macbook Pro - I've just tried it.
    Not sure about iOS though.
Please reply if it works for you.

  • Director projector file linking

Ok guys I have a problem I need some expert help. I created a director movie and in the movie I created links to pdf and video files. The pdf's and video files are located on my C: drive in a folder called Files. I usually run my projector from my computer and it works fine because it looks for the pdf and video files from my C:\Files folder. Now I am going to be running my projector from a dvd now and I don't know how to link the files so the projector looks for them on the dvd instead of my computer C:\files folder. Can someone please help me out with this. Also, what all should be included on the dvd to make this run right?
    Thanks so much,
    Todd

Let me see if i remember this one:
Place the linked files in the same directory on the DVD as your Director projector and open them using either the moviepath & filename or "@filename.pdf".
The moviepath and @ return a path with \ for windows or : for the mac although Director or the XTRA you use should modify the path appropriately anyway depending on the platform.
Once you have got that far then you can experiement with placing the files in a directory one lower than the current one. i.e. "@Files:filename.pdf"

  • Output Projector Files Without Windows or Mac Border

I'm a newbie of sorts.... with Director MX I was outputting
projector files that would play full screen & centered. They
would not have any Windows or Mac window borders with the
minimize/maximize/quit buttons on them. I've just installed
Director 11 & now when I output they now include this. I can't
seem to find the switch that would shut this off. Anyone out there
know where it is? Or does it even exist? I create Director
animations for use in the film production industry for playback to
camera & we cannot have any visible signs of either OS on
    camera.

Activate the stage (Ctrl + 1) and make sure no sprites are
    selected by
clicking on an unused area. Open the Property Inspector (Ctrl
    + Alt + S)
and go to the Display Template tab. On there, uncheck the
    Visible box
for the Titlebar Options and set the Border (under Appearance
    Options)
to None. You might also want to uncheck Resizable

  • Local video file (.mp4) file not play in MAC OS using netstream (NetStream.Play.StreamNotFound)

I have developed adobe air application using adobe flash builder 4.6 for Windows and Mac OS. Application allow user to download movie (.mp4) file in his system at specific location for play  without live streaming. File downloading correctly in both OS and also file playing from download location in Window application correctly. but when start playing file Mac OS application not start playing.
When start playing in mac OS, NetStatusEvent.Net_Status event return "NetStream.Play.StreamNotFound" event info code. I have found one solution for mac OS is use colon notation instead of slash notation. I have tried it but it also not working.
    Code:
    _nc = new NetConnection();
    _nc.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.Net_Status, connectionHandler);
    _nc.connect(null);
    private function connectionHandler(event:NetStatusEvent):void
         trace("Connection to server: " + event.info.code);
/// Get "NetStream.Play.StreamNotFound" code in mac OS.
    slash notation path: /Users/mayur/Downloads/myvideo.mp4
Colon notation path: I have tried following colon notation path
    1) :Users:mayur:Downloads:myvideo.mp4
    2) Users:mayur:Downloads:myvideo.mp4
    3) Macintosh HD:Users:mayur:Downloads:myvideo.mp4 (Macintosh HD - Drive name)
Please help me to solve this issue.

    Finally I found a solution...
The problem is that AIR on Android stores the application data in the protected directory /data/... which is not accessible by StageWebView (or any browser app).
So you have to copy the video file you want to play to a temporary pubic directory on the sd-card for example and use this in StageWebView.
You also have to create a temporary html-page with the video-tag and load this page in StageWebView (not the string) because external resources are only loaded in StageWebView when using an URL.
On iOS the application storage directory is readable for StageWebView so you don't have to do this step.
    Hope this helps

  • VTS,VOB,IFO,BUP  VIDEO files wont play on Mac???

I have a sony handycam DVD, From the DVD in camera I can play it on dvd player on Mac when copy and paste file from DVD to Mac cannot open any of files ?????? what can I do ???

The VTS, BUP and IFO files are not video files at all, which would thus be a problem on any playback application.
The VOB files are MPEG-2 files by any other name. Buy the Apple MPEG-2 playback component and open the files for editing in MPEG Streamclip (free) , not Quicktime, as any edits you do and exports of same will not have audio. You still need the MPEG-2 component either way.
And if the DVD uses AC3 Dolby audio you won't have any to listen to before exporting either. QT doesn't like AC3 audio either.

  • Can't get my embedded swf files to play in HTML file

    Hi there,
I'm just  wondering why my swf files won't play when I upload them along with my  HTML file to the server.
The problem can be seen at the  following URL:
    http://marthalodge.com/productDev.html
I  inserted the swf in 'insert media' - 'shockwave' and the thing works  when I press play to view it within dreamweaver. However, when I try to  view it on a browser, either locally or remotely, it doesn't work.
Does  anyone have a suggestion as to why this might be happening?
    Thanks,
    M

    Hi,
I did what you suggested and again, nothing shows. You can see what I did at:
    http://marthalodge.com/ProdDev.html
Do you have any idea why this is happening? I don't get any error report when I publish my swf from Flash.

  • Can't get a quartz composer file to play via applescript.

I'm trying to create a script to play a quartz composer file full screen.
    I do the following:
    tell application "Finder"
    open POSIX file "/Users/wesM/Desktop/colorbar audio.qtz"
    end tell
    tell application "QuickTime Player"
    activate
    play front document
    end tell
I get an error "document 1 doesn’t understand the play message". I tested and can play a .mov file, but not a .qtz file? Any help/ideas?
    Thanks

    Try this:
tell application "Finder" to open POSIX file "/Users/wesM/Desktop/colorbar audio.qtz"
tell application "QuickTime Player" to activate
    delay 1
tell application "System Events" to key code 49 -- keyboard shortcut: space bar
    Or better yet:
    tell application "QuickTime Player"
    launch
    activate
    open POSIX file "/Users/wesM/Desktop/colorbar audio.qtz"
    end tell
tell application "System Events" to key code 49 -- keyboard shortcut: space bar
I have tested the above script with the magnificent [“Flying Fish”|http://www.zugakousaku.com/index.html?-qclab] Quartz composition.

  • How To Get A Sony Digital Voice Recorder MSV File To Play On Mac?

    Hi...
I have a Sony Digital Voice Recorder that (I guess) puts it’s recording’s into a MSV format. I’ve done a Google search and found conversion software...
But does anyone have any recommendations or is my Mac capable of the conversion with it’s assortment of software already?
    Thank you in advance
Comments, suggestions and opinions are appreciated.....

    Hi Catharsis,
Switch for OSX does NOT convert MSV files. The only way to do it is with something like CrossOver or Parallells with a windows installation and use the Sony software.
Had I known this prior, I would not have bought the Sony product which in all other respects is a good piece of equipment. (ICS MX20)

here is another one i need help with.
I have a .swf file on the stage. when you press the space
bar, or press a button on the .swf, audio plays. This works
perfectly on a Mac. On a PC, the .swf file annimates as it is

internet explorer on a PC, it works as it is supposed to, so its
not a problem with my speakers or anything.
Thoughts? ... why would the audio in flash member play on a
Mac and not a PC? ... am I missing a setting somewhere?
    thanks a million in advance!

Is this a Yosemite issue? Not being able to play older QuickTime 7 files properly? I'm not sure what else the issue could be since everything seems to work fine in 10.7, 10.8, and 10.9 (unfortunately, I have been unable to test this in 10.10 or 10.10.1). Maybe I'm overcomplicating a simple issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

Some very interesting observations which peaked my own curiosity due to on-again, off-again nature of the playback. I suspect this is either a "bug" or represents content handling changes that are currently in the process of  "evolving." Not a web site programmer so I used iWeb to run some contrast-comparison tests on how audio was handled by the plug-in software when directly accessing the content by its URL and via the page embed strategies. My results mirrored yours in that:
    1) All legacy codecs tested (A-Law, IMA, QDM2, QPV, and u-Law) in an MOV file container played correctly in the QT 7 player.
    2) The same files all played correctly when content was accessed by the plug-in software directly using the URL reference.
    3) None of the files containing legacy audio compression formats would play audio using the plug-in software using a web page embedding strategy.
    4) An MP4 (H.264/AAC) version of you original clip played correctly in all instances.
    5) Replacing your QDM2 audio track with an AAC audio track in the original MOV file allowed the file to play correctly in all instances.
Based on these observations, I suspect the problem is in the way the software is currently programmed to handle (or rather ignore) the embedded strategy content. However, as you indicated, it is probably time to update your files. Not only did the H.264/AAC version of your original file play in all instances, but it used less than 45% of the file space/bandwidth for the settings I employed as compared to your original "0706_split_brain_red.mov" original file.

  • Director Projector to Projector file linking.

How do I Link a windows Director Projector file to another windows Director Projector file ( without opening this linked file in a browser ), it should open like the first projector file ( .exe file) ?

Thanks. That sort of worked. The web design guy says he no
longer gets the missing director file error, but now the movie just
loops rather than jump to the next dcr movie. Strange thing is,
when I run it on another hard drive or even off a CD, the files
find each other and run without a hitch. I can't figure out why on
his server, his first movie just loops. (I checked my files, there
are no looping settings selected when published.)
Someone else suggested altering the code:
    goToNetMovie(the moviePath & pThePath)
    where pThePath="yourOldPath/yourOldFile.dcr"
but that just caused more errors. maybe I didn't pop in my
    data correctly.

I have about 5 seperate swf files that come into my main when
buttons are clicked, I want to create one projector file that plays
them all, do you know how do i do this?

Are you using videos in your Director project or just
multiple Director movies? I would make sure you have them all in
    the same directory.
