Getting ORA-01849 hours between 1 & 12

Hi,
Hi
I have a table - audit with the following fields
org_id number,
grn_n number,
ed_eff_m timestamp(6),
data
org_grp_i grn_n ed_eff_m
3 1 07/21/2006 12:21:16 Am
I want to update ed_eff_m with 07/21/2006 00:00:00
for the above.
But when i update the record the record, Iam getting the
ORA-01849 hours between 1 & 12
please suggest this update stmt is correct
update audit ag
set ed_eff_m= to_date(to_date('07/21/2006 00:00:00','mm/dd/yyyy hh:mi:ss')
WHERE ag.ORG_GRP_I = 3
AND ag.GRN_n =1
Thanks in advance

If all that is needed is to clear the hour part, you may try this too:
UPDATE audit_grant_vesting_schedule ag
SET ag.ed_eff_m = TRUNC(ag.ed_eff_m)
WHERE ag.ORG_GRP_I = 3
AND ag.GRN_n = 5633486;
Hope this helps.

  • ORA-01850: hour must be between 0 and 23

    Hi techies,
    We have created a procedure for our daily report.its running fine for two location.when we run for a location we end up with this error.our current NLS_DATE_FORMAT is HH24:MI:SS.but its running successfully when we set nls_date_format='DD-MON-YY'.whereas other two (Which is same except a table from where it fetch data thru dblink) running properly with NLS_DATE_FORMAT is HH24:MI:SS.
    ORA-01850: hour must be between 0 and 23

    ORA-06512: at "OTSLGWEB.DAILY_JOB_PROFIT_REPORT_USA", line 89
    ORA-06512: at line 1

    Hi Techie,
    Apologies for my vague post.
    Here it would be clear.
    My database NLS_DATE_FORMAT='HH24:MI:SS'
    We have three procedure one is for AUSTRALIA,NEW ZEALAND and USA for daily report.all three are SAME CODE except a view whice is used inside the procedure from where these procedures get data thru dblink and create table in local database.
    when i execute procdure for AUSTRALI AND NEW ZEALAND it was successfull whereas when i execute for USA it was failing with the error i above mentioned.
    if I set
    alter session set nls_date_format='DD-MON-YY';
    and execute the USA Procedure it was successfully completing.
    My question here is..
    1.What was the real cause of this error?
    2.if NLS settings are wrong.how the same code of AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND is successfull?
    3.Can we add 'alter session set NLS_DATE_FORMAT='DD-MON-YY' inside the procedure? (We do not have approval to change this in DB level so we intend to add it in session level)
    4.is it caused due to data?

  • Help with hours between two dates

    Hi I need help with the below query
    select count(*),a.col1,max(a.dt),min(a.dt)

    I am trying to pull the records with more than 2 entries, and having more than 6 hrs difference between max date and min date. When I am trying to execute this I am getting an error at "(max(a.dt) - min(a.dt))* 24*60*60 > 360".
    any ideas how can I pull the records more than 6 hrs?

  • How to calculate hours between two dateTime node in BPEL.

    In my BPEL there's a requirement need calculate hours between two dateTime type..
    I tried 2 solutions, both of them failed:
    1. use xslt calculate duration(xml type, like PT12H) between two dateTime, and then use embedded java code to get the hours.. The problem is : I need to parse the xml duration format...(like this real one: -P80DT17H47M36S....), and to parse it in java , maybe have the same problem with solution 2..
    * [Subtracting 2 dateTime values into a duration using XPath 2.0|http://blogs.oracle.com/rammenon/2007/07/subtracting_2_datetime_values.html]
    2. use embed java code, but it seems we can't use some class in embedded java code:
    my code(input begin, end both dateTime in xml. output: diff, int in xml):
    1 System.out.println("\n\nTimeTestBegin");
    2 String begin=getVariableData("begin").toString();
    3 String end=getVariableData("end").toString();
    4 System.out.println(begin+"-----"+end);
    5 //Class c1=Class.forName("javax.xml.datatype.XMLGregorianCalendar");
    6 //Class c2=Class.forName("javax.xml.datatype.DatatypeFactory");
    7 //System.out.println(c1.getName());
    8 //System.out.println(c2.getName());
    9 javax.xml.datatype.XMLGregorianCalendar beginTime = javax.xml.datatype.DatatypeFactory.newInstance().newXMLGregorianCalendar(begin);
    10 javax.xml.datatype.XMLGregorianCalendar endTime = javax.xml.datatype.DatatypeFactory.newInstance().newXMLGregorianCalendar(end);
    11 long diff=beginTime.toGregorianCalendar().getTimeInMillis()-endTime.toGregorianCalendar().getTimeInMillis();
    12 setVariableData("diff",String.valueOf(diff/1000/3600));
    13 System.out.println("DIFF======"+diff/1000/3600);
    14 System.out.println("TimeTestEnd");
    it's said can't compile java class, but can't find the detail error, I think the problem is how to import java class to embedded java code activity(use full package name like above code don't work), when I remove line 9-13, no compile error..
    BTY: Jdeveloper is a IDE support java, but why the embedded java activity's edit window only have a simple "java code" editor, too simple that it can only edit you code snippet...
    3.There's another sulotion: extend BPEL xpath functions(add a new function), but in my project, modify BPEL server(soa server)'s config file is not allowed..
    Anyone know easy solution to my problem?
    Thanks.

    Hi, All,
    I found the cause. Sorry, it's my mistake..
    below line have a DatatypeConfigurationException:
    javax.xml.datatype.DatatypeFactory.newInstance()
    When I test my java code snippet, I coped the code snippet to one of my java class in eclipse, and put it in a method to check if there's compile error, but I didn't notice there's a "throws Exception"...
    the final java code snippet for test is :
    input: begin dateTime
    input: end dateTime
    output: diff int, how many hours in (begin-end)
    try{
    System.out.println("\n\nTimeTestBegin");
    String begin=getVariableData("begin").toString();
    String end=getVariableData("end").toString();
    System.out.println(begin+"-----"+end);
    javax.xml.datatype.XMLGregorianCalendar beginTime = javax.xml.datatype.DatatypeFactory.newInstance().newXMLGregorianCalendar(begin);
    javax.xml.datatype.XMLGregorianCalendar endTime = javax.xml.datatype.DatatypeFactory.newInstance().newXMLGregorianCalendar(end);
    long diff=beginTime.toGregorianCalendar().getTimeInMillis()-endTime.toGregorianCalendar().getTimeInMillis();
    setVariableData("diff",String.valueOf(diff/1000/3600));
    System.out.println("DIFF======"+diff/1000/3600);
    System.out.println("TimeTestEnd");
    }catch(Exception e){
    e.printStackTrace();
    }

  • Workflows: How to set a workflow variable that is the difference in hours between now and a created date

    I'm trying to create a variable that contains the number of hours between the item created date and Now.  When i use TODAY, it seems to set the time at 12:00 rather than the time now - so that throws the hours off.  Any ideas?
    ajw

    Hi ajw,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to calculate the hours between the item created date and now.
    It seems to be not an OOB way to implement your requirement, to get the current time, you need to create a custom workflow activity for SharePoint 2010 workflow. About creating custom workflow activity, you can refer to the links below:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh872790(v=office.14).aspx
    http://blogs-sharepoint-ashutoshmisra.blogspot.in/2013/02/create-custom-workflow-action-for.html
    Or, you can use a third party solution to achieve your requriement.
    Here are some similar posts for you to take a look at:

  • Count number of hours between dates excluding holidays/weekends

    Hello all
    I havent worked with dates extensively and was recently asked to create a report where Im looking for the number of hours between two dates only counting business days.
    So for example I have data as follows
    Created 2011-03-30 15:00:00
    Processed 2011-03-30 15:03:46
    Fulfilled 2011-04-01 17:25:02
    Mailed     2011-04-01 17:45:00
    For a total of looking from the CREATED and MAILED dates
    50 hours 45 minutes
    Im also trying to exclude weekends and holidays, i was reading around and was actually able to also find a table of dates where I have the main date, HOLIDAY_IND column and WEEKDAY_IND column
    So the calender table i have looks similar to
    CALENDER_DATE HOLIDAY_IND WEEKDAY_IND
    2011-03-31 Y Y
    2011-04-01 N Y
    2011-04-02 N N
    Im really quite stumped as to where to begin
    I was thinking of trying to write it with PL/SQL but i dont have the proper user access to create procedures/functions, so looks like straight up SQL
    Any help appreciated!

    Hi,
    Depeneding on your data and your requirements, you can do something like this:
    SELECT     created_DATE,
    ,     mailed_date
    ,     24 * ( (mailed_date - created_date)
                SELECT  COUNT (*)
                FROM        table_o_dates
                WHERE    main_date > created_date
                AND        main_date < TRUNC (mailed_date)
                AND        (   holiday_ind = 'Y'
                         OR  weekday_ind = 'N'
               )               AS hours_between
    FROM     table_x
    I hope this answers your question.
    If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) for all tables, and also post the results you want from that data.
    Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.
    Always say which version of Oracle you're using.
    What do you want to do if created_date or mailed_date is not a work day? Include examples in you data and results.

  • Getting ORA-01403:, when it shouldn't

    Greetings, i apologize beforehand for my spelling, name(takes 6 hours to change) and the headache you migth get, however,
    i bring you the following code, and test results:
    ------Procedure wich throws the error-------
    create or replace
    procedure P_COLEGAS(x in number) as
    ctipo varchar2(20);
    asd varchar2(20);
    cursor curnombre is
    select nombre from unidad,elemento where (elemento.id_elem=unidad.id_elem and unidad.tipo=ctipo and elemento.ciudad=asd);
    begin
    select unidad.tipo, elemento.ciudad into ctipo,asd from unidad,elemento where unidad.id_elem=x and elemento.id_elem=x;
    for blah in curnombre loop
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('nombre unidad: '||blah.nombre||' ');
    end loop;
    end;
    -what i get when executing the procedure-
    Error que empieza en la línea 1 del comando:
    exec p_colegas(19)
    Informe de error:

    01403. 00000 - "no data found"
    *Cause:
    *Action:-----------------------------------------------------------
    -----------------the real problem--------------------
    if in that procedure i were to write
    (1)
    select unidad.tipo into ctipo from unidad where unidad.id_elem=x;(2)
    select elemento.ciudad into asd from elemento where elemento.id_elem=x;instead the single query i wrote, we get the following:
    (1) works wonderfull, only gets the error when there are no matches for x.
    (2) throws the error i showed before.
    however when i do the following query in the worksheet and execute it:
    (3)
    select elemento.ciudad from elemento where elemento.id_elem=x;i get what i expected to get 1 row 1 column.(yes it has data)
    note: in (3) the only difference is that i remove the into clause, and x is the same number i used when i execute the procedure.
    --------------------the question------------------------
    why in the procedure, the query (2) fail to fetch the data, the same data wich the query(3) does not fail to fetch?
    i'm getting ORA-01403, when i shouldn't?
    is there a work around to this problem?
    --------------------what i try------------------------------
    nested the query with it's own error handle exception, getting the same results, just catches the error with a different handling.

    tested the procedure with the following example data in a brand new workspace getting the same error.

    Oops, I mi9ssed table ELEMENTO has column X. When you use:
    where unidad.id_elem=x and elemento.id_elem=x;column names take precedence over PL/SQL variables wnd X is resolved as table ELEMENTO column X. not as PL/SQL procedure parameter X. Change PL/SQL procedure parameter name:

  • Getting ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel error

    Hi,
    We are getting the following error while calling a Oracle stored Procedure from .NET interface.
    Getting ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel Process ID: 28954 Session ID: 466 Serial number: 9280
    Actually, The other procedures doesn't have this issue. We are witnessing this error only when we call a specific procedure which returns a data cursor. We have checked for any DBLINK involvement but couldn't find any. Please help us here to resolve this issue. Please let me know if you need any information further.
    Regards,
    Subhadeep

    end-of-file on communication channel
    Cause: The connection between Client and Server process was broken.
    Action: There was a communication error that requires further investigation. First, check for network problems and review the SQL*Net setup. Also, look in the alert.log file for any errors. Finally, test to see whether the server process is dead and whether a trace file was generated at failure time.

  • Not closing ResultSet, but not getting ORA-01000

    I have an application that is generating the familiar ORA-01000 error.
    Whilst investigating the problem, I wrote a small test program. In the test program I tried to get the ORA-01000, but I don't get it (has anyone ever complained about not getting ORA-01000 before?!)
    connection = DriverManager.getConnection("<connection string>");
    String sql = "SELECT c1 FROM pdtab2 WHERE Id>=? AND Id<=?";
    PreparedStatement ps = connection.prepareStatement(sql);
    for (int i = 1; i <= 30000; ++i)
        ps.setInt(1, i-1);
        ps.setInt(2, i+1);
        if (i % 100 == 0)
            System.out.println("i=" +i);
            System.out.println("getCurrentOpenCursors(connection)="
                               +getCurrentOpenCursors(connection));
        try
            rs = ps.executeQuery();
            while (rs.next())
                result = rs.getInt(1);
        catch (SQLException e2)
            e2.printStackTrace();
        finally
            // Do nothing! Do not close the result set
    }getCurrentOpenCursors does:
    select count(*) AS COUNT from v$open_cursor where user_name like 'me'
    I have reduced OPEN_CURSORS down from 300 to 100, but getCurrentOpenCursors always returns less that what it is set to. Suggesting that OPEN_CUSRORS is not a limit, but rather a pool size?
    The result set returns more than one record, I never close the result set, yet I do not get an ORA-01000 error. I have tried auto-commit true and false on the connection. Is the prepared statement closing its previous result set on each new iteration of the loop, hence stopping me getting a problem?
    I am using Oracle version 10.2.0.1, the corresponding ojdbc14.jar, and Java 1.4.
    Thanks,
    Paul

    Here is a program that does that for you.

  • While trying to change password getting ora-00600 [4842] - Plz help

    while trying to change password getting ora-00600 [4842] - Plz help
    database : 9.2.0.4
    o/s : Linux

    Hi,
    when getting an ORA-600 you always should contact Oracle support please ;-)
    To diagnose an ORA-600 the stack trace will be necessary - see the trace file mentioned in the alert.log when the ORA-600 did happen.
    But FIRST OF ALL you should definitely apply patch set 9.2.0.8 and see if this error happens again (metalink.oracle.com ==> PATCHES ==> Quick Links ==> <your platform>). Support will ask you to do the same before they start diagnosing anything in this case.
    And please keep in mind that 9.2.0 has reached end of Premier Support more than 1 year ago.
    Kind regards
    Mike

    No, you are not.
    - You are not using the correct version doc vs. Oracle server version. Try to find the same suggestion in the relevant doc.
    - The doc you reference specifically says "... it can be used only under special circumstances. The ALTER DATABASE CHARACTER SET statement does not perform any data conversion, so it can be used +if and only if the new character set is a strict superset of the current character set+." Hello,
    You have 2 bind variables in your statement (:num and :sal) but you have not created parameters and bound them to the bind variables.

  • Getting ORA-32700 while creating database

    I am getting following error when creating the database :
    ORA-32700 error occurred in DIAG Group Service
    The error description is as follows :
    Cause: An unexpected error occurred while performing a DIAG Group Service operation.
    Action: Verify that the DIAG process is still active. Also, check the Oracle DIAG trace files for errors.
    The setup is as follows :
    Database : Oracle 9i Rel 2.
    OS : IBM AIX 4.3.3
    We are trying to create the database from sqlplus/dbca. It seems that in the database creation process it is throwing the error while it is trying to create the control files.
    listener.ora :
    LSNR_TSEDMDB2 =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = prcsmbk1)(PORT = 1522))
    TNSNAMES.ORA
    LISTENER_TSEDMDB2 =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = prcsmbk1)(PORT = 1522))
    We have IBM HACMP Cluster setup on 3 machines. This machine (prcsmbk1) on which I am getting the error while creating the database is part of that HACMP cluster. While installing the Oracle database software also it gave me a list of the 3 machines which are in HACMP cluster. We are not planning to setup RAC, but still it seems like while creating the database control files Oracle is trying to perform some group service operation.

    Thanks a lot for all your responses. We found the issue. The issue was that when we installed 9i we selected Enterprise option which installed RAC also. And after that when we were trying to create database Oracle was thinking that we are trying to create database in RAC env. and most likely it was trying to create/sync the control files on all the machines in the cluster.
    The sequence of events were as below :
    1. We have 8i installed on this machine
    2. We installed 9i (9.2.0.1.0) using the same ORACLE_BASE but different ORACLE_HOME. We didn't select "Custom Install". We selected "Enterprise install" option
    3. We installed new installer (2.2.0.18.0 ) and then 9i patch (9.2.0.4.0)
    4. While creating the database (manually & through DBCA) we were getting ORA-32700
    5. We tried to uninstall (using OUI 2.2.0.18.0) 9i (including the patch) completely but it never succeeded. We noticed that when we started uninstall it did show progress for about 20 minutes and after that it didn't show any progress. It was not taking any CPU cycles and It was not writing to the log file either. Basically we were never able to cleanly uninstall 9i. We tried almost 2 to 3 times.
    6. Then we installed 9i using a new ORACLE_BASE and this time we selected "Custom Install" and we did not install RAC. This is successful
    7. Then we installed new installer (2.2.0.18.0 ) and we tried to install the 9i patch (9.2.0.4.0) using this new installer but it never succeeded. Then we tried to install the 9i patch (9.2.0.4.0) using the old installer version (2.2.0.11.0) and it was also successful.
    8. Then we tried to create database using DBCA and it was successful and then we dropped the database which was created using DBCA and then we created it manually through SQLPLUS and this was fine too.
    So basically what we learned from this exercise is that if we are installing 9i on a machine which is part of a cluster and if we don't plan to setup RAC then we shouldn't install RAC and we should do a custom install. I wish there was a option in create database stmt to tell Oracle that though we are creating database on a machine which is part of a cluster environment but we don't intend to setup RAC.
    And other thing which is still a mystery is that why does the uninstall never completes successfully. One question on this : We were using the installer version 2.2.0.18.0 to uninstall the 9i software. Do we need to use the older version (2.2.0.11.0) of the OUI?
