Please help me to get Oracle 10.2.0.5 software for 64 bit Windows 2008 R2
Hi All,
Subject: Please help me to get Oracle 10.2.0.5 software for 64 bit Windows 2008 R2 operating system.
I am looking for Oracle 10.2.0.5 software to install in windows 2008 server (64 bit) R2. I tried with oracle download repository but unfortunately I couldnt find this software. In the below link I can see the product Oracle 10.2.0.5 - 64 bit (Itanium). I have tried to download and install in the server but I received in-compatible error message.
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html
From the oracle support certification site I have found that the Oracle 10.2.0.5 is the compatible version to installed in windows 2008 server(64) R2.
I am trying very hard to find Oracle 10.2.0.5 - 64 bit. Can you please suggest me where I can download this software.
Please do the needful.
Regards,
JameHi;
Which means, do i need to install 10.2.0.4 and then to upgrade 10.2.0.5 using patchset?10.2.0.1 is base relase 10.2.0.x is patchest. 10.2.0.5 cover previous patchest errors which mean you do not need install 10.2.0.4 than upgrade it 10.2.0.5

Getting oracle.j2ee.xml.XMLMessages error while running project in 11g
when I run a project in JDeveloper 11g for the first time i.,e when it starts the embedded oc4j server, I get "oracle.j2ee.xml.XMLMessages warningException

How do I get Oracle Text to index files on a file server?
I am new to Oracle (I'm a MS-SQL DBA looking for a Full-Text Search solution that is better than linking to a MS index server.)
So - Here's the objective:
I have Oracle Server(Express) installed on a Windows server.
I would like for Oracle to build a Full-Text Catalog of the files on a separate file server based on file paths in a table in the database.
(No desire to store terabytes of images and documents inside the database)
I can get Oracle text up and running, using the URL_Datastore:
CREATE TABLE files (id NUMBER PRIMARY KEY, issue_id NUMBER, path VARCHAR(255) UNIQUE, ot_format VARCHAR(6), ot_version VARCHAR(10));
The Compaq server is a remote windows server on my local workgroup, so the fully qualified path is just "compaq" and the URL is valid:
INSERT INTO files VALUES (9,9,'file://Compaq/FTQ/00000003.pdf',NULL,NULL);
INSERT INTO files VALUES (13,13,'file://Compaq/FTQ/01.txt',NULL,NULL);
CREATE INDEX file_index ON files(path) INDEXTYPE IS ctxsys.context
PARAMETERS ('datastore ctxsys.URL_DATASTORE format column ot_format');
but when I enter:
Select * from CTX_User_Index_errors, I see the following errors:
DRG-11609: URL store: unable to open local file specified by file://Compaq/FTQ/00000003.pdf
DRG-11609: URL store: unable to open local file specified by file://Compaq/FTQ/01.txt
Did I miss something?
Do I need to install anything on the file server?
I would like to convince my company that Oracle can be much quicker than Microsoft's Indexing Service because it can avoid joining two large result sets (one result set from Full_text (indexing service) and one for specific data contained in fields in the MS-SQL database.) Full Text Searches commonly take 40 - 60 seconds where there are 1.5 million multi-page PDF files for a particular set that I sample search on. Without this massive join, I believe I can get the search to run in under 10 seconds.Thank you!
File_Datastore worked fine.
I was staying away from File_Datastore because the information I gathered from googling suggested that file_datastore would only work locally.
Now I just have to get Oracle to pull data out of tables in a MS-SQL database on the local network (don't have a clue yet), and then have it index compiled file paths.
Then MS-SQL can query Oracle with index and full-text criteria and Oracle can send back a result set
It may sound like a bad way of performing Full-Text Queries, but anything will be better than the way things are currently running. We are currently performing Full Text Searches on a table that is rebuilt nightly, so the table containing millions of file paths is not live..
It would be so much better if we just migrated to Oracle, but we currently do not have the resources. -
Getting oracle.j2ee.xml.XMLMessages warningException error
when I run a project in JDeveloper 11g for the first time i.,e when it starts the embedded oc4j server, I get "oracle.j2ee.xml.XMLMessages warningException
WARNING: Exception Encountered" error. I am using TP4. this seems like a warning, is this something that we can ignore? or how do I fix ? Please help.
-PardhaHi,
thread exception and warning at first use of JDev 11g says you can ignore this warning.

Mandrake Linux 8.0 - can't get Oracle Universal Installer to run
Hi all.
I'm having trouble getting Oracle's Universal Installer to run.
I'm trying to become DBA certified, so I went and purchased
(among
other materials) a book titled "Oracle8i for LINUX Starter Kit",
authored by Steve Bobrowski, published by Oracle Press / Osborne
McGraw-Hill, ISBN 0-07-212442-3.
The book includes a CD-ROM with Oracle8i Enterprise Edition,
Release 2, version 8.1.6 for LINUX.
I'm running an Intel P-III 500 MHz with 512MB RAM, 30GB hard disk
exclusively configured for Linux (no other O/S on it) and Oracle
(so LOTS of hard disk space is available), Matrox Millennium G400
video card (32MB).
My hardware exceeds all requirements listed in aforementioned
book, and also in Oracle's own documentation (from their web
site).
I'm running Mandrake's Linux 8.0, PowerPack Edition, with:
kernel = 2.4.3
XFree 4.0.3 (and I've also tried 3.3.6, with identical results
to those listed below)
glibc 2.2.2
I've followed the book's instructions to the letter, and set up
the environment variables, oracle user, and subdirectories as
required.
So far, so good.
OK. Now, here's where the problem appears:
I log in as the oracle user, and try to start the Oracle
Universal Installer (following the instructions in the book)
as follows:
cd /mnt/cdrom
./runInstaller
The computer tries to do some stuff, then spews the information
listed at the bottom of this posting to the screen. I press
<ENTER> after "OK" and get dumped back to the bash prompt.
That's it. I can't go any further. No Oracle Universal
Installer.
By the way, I've also downloaded Oracle8i Enterprise Edition
Release 3, version 8.1.7 from Oracle's website, and tried to
install that, too. Exactly same results.
The nice folks at Oracle have politely told me to get lost,
and not bug them for unpaid support.
I'd really like to get this stuff up and running, so I can
start studying and practicing for DBA, but I need help 'cause
this problem is beyond me.
So... can anyone help??
Thanks in advance.

Where can I get Oracle 8i 8.1.5 for Linux (RH 6.0) On CD?
I'm stuck in a 28.8 baud neighborhood. Most of my connections
are 14.4 but at night - sometimes - I can get 28.8. There is no
Cable Modem support (Not available), not DSL (maybe by Q1 2999),
and ISDN is foolishly priced ($1800.00 to start and $300.00 per
month.) I have a smalll 100/T Base network with Win95, WinNT
4.0 (Server and Client) and Red Hat 6.0 Linux. I'd really like
to get Oracle 8i 8.1.5 Server for the Linux box and access it
via my NT Client. But, as I mentioned above, downloading is
very impracticle. It would take +100 hours and we have
power/phone outages almost every day. Where can I get this
stuff on a CD?
Thanks

nullOn the oracle store (oraclestore.oracle.com->database->media)
you can order a trial copy for $40 ($39.95). Allow me to ask you
where do you live? I wouldn't like to move into your
neighbourhood.

How do you get Oracle 8i to work with j2sdkee 1.3 B
I had the j2sdkee1.2.1 working with Oracle 8i and I had the following line in the ~conifg/default.properties files
Here's what worked:
jdbcDatasources=jdbc/EstoreDB|jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:ORCL|jdbc/InventoryDB|jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:ORCL|jdbc/jcampDB|jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:ORCL
In the j2sdkee1.3 beta 2, the resource configuration file format seem to have changed and I am not sure how to get oracle to work. I have tried modifying the new format but it does not seem to work. Can anyone tell me where set drivers for Oracle 8i or any place I can look to figure how to.
jdbcDataSource.5.name=jdbc/Oracle
jdbcDataSource.5.url=jdbc:oracle:thin:rmi:??;create=true
jdbcDriver.0.name=COM.cloudscape.core.RmiJdbcDriver
jdbcXADataSource.0.name=jdbc/XACloudscape
jdbcXADataSource.0.classname=COM.cloudscape.core.RemoteXaDataSource
jdbcXADataSource.0.dbpassword=
jdbcXADataSource.0.dbuser=
jdbcXADataSource.0.prop.createDatabase=create
jdbcXADataSource.0.prop.databaseName=CloudscapeDB
==============
Any pointers on how to get Oracle 8i to work with j2sdkee1.3 b2 will be appreciated. thanks.
--pvtYou are right. It seems the format has changed.
However, now there is and admin tool that comes with J2EE SDK 1.3 Now you don't have to touch the config file by hand.
You can use this tool to get the configuration done.
To add JDBC driver the command is...
j2eeadmin -addJdbcDriver oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
and to add a data source the command is...
j2eeadmin -addJdbcDatasource jdbc/Oracle jdbc:oracle:thin@rtc:1521:acct
Read details about this and other configuration you can do using this toll in the file %J2EE_HOME%/doc/release/ConfigGuide.html -

How can I do to get Oracle ODBC driver in Windows?
Hello,
Please, I need help to use Oracle ODBC driver in Windows 7. I installed Oracle Client 10g with the ODBC driver, but I can't use it. OracleODBC driver don't appear in the driver list when I want to create a new datasource. How I can do to get Oracle ODBC driver for create a new datasource?
Thank
Edited by: user4528703 on 13 mars 2010 02:01Hello,
To get the ODBC driver you should run a custom Oracle Client installation and Select
Oracle Windows Interfaces 10.2.0.1.0.
Then, you'll get the Oracle ODBC Driver 10.2.0.1.
But, be aware that Oracle didn't certify Windows 7.
So, if afterwards, you experience some trouble, think to install Oracle with Xp compatibilty mode, or
wait to Oracle 11.2.0.1 which will be certified on Windows 7.
Hope this help.

Get Oracle SID in PL/SQL with out a query
Hi,
Is there any way where I can get ORACLE SID value in the PL/SQL layer with out actually querying v$database tables.
I am looking for key word in PL/SQL which stores currect SID name, just like how keyword 'user' stores the current user who has logged in.

Is there any way where I can get ORACLE SID valuein
the PL/SQL layer with out actually querying
v$database tables.
I am looking for key word in PL/SQL which stores
currect SID name, just like how keyword 'user'stores
the current user who has logged in.Subtle correction ...

is a built-in function provided by Oracle. Why don't you create your own function to perform the
Select?
I know I can create a function but, I dont want to read the table everytime it is called. Knowing that Database sid is going to be constant for next couple of years.
The procedure in which I am going to use database sid is called for almost every transaction in the database. I am trying to avoid IO operation for a constant value. I cant declare a global constant as it is going to be different for each environment Dev, QA, Production etc..and we are looking to deploy same code for all the environments. We are anticipating to have multiple databases for production too. -
How to get Oracle Database 10.1.0.2
Hello, I'm trying to find the Base Release of Oracle Database 10g Release 1 (10.1.0.2), 64-bit Aix. I couldn't find it on Edelivery. Its patch 10.1.0.5 (8290534) can be found through Patches&Updates. It may be that our customer is interested in it because of some applications. Any suggestions?

Hello,
Thanks very much for your answers! I looked at one of the documents you suggested, i.e.ID 268895.1. There’s this text in it:
10.1.0.2.0 - Base Release
10.1.0.3.0 - Patch Set #1, List of fixes: Note 280552.1
10.1.0.4.0 - Patch Set #2, List of fixes: Note 295763.1
10.1.0.5.0 - Patch Set #3, List of fixes: Note 335869.1 ==> Last Patch Set
10.1.0.1 you talked about must be a mistake?
Since this message was a response back to yourself, it is difficult to know who/what statement you think is a mistake. But if you are referring to the fact that 10.2.0.1 is not listed with the patch sets, it's because 10.2.0.1 is not a patch set, it is the base installation - the one on which the patch sets are built.
4547817 is 10.2.0.2 patch set which according to the patch set readme is installed in an existing 10.2.0.x installation.
You must have been thinking we’ll use 10.2 and not 10.1?
It is, however, very much possible we must stick to the 10.1 level. The trouble doesn’t seem to be in what the base release is or which patch set we’ll apply to it, but how on earth we’ll get the version 10.1.0.2.0 which is the base release. I think I have this 10.1.0.5.0, but without 10.1.0.2.0 we can’t use it.
When I go to edelivery.oracle.com and choose Database - Aix 64-bit, I get a list of releases in a descending order. The next lower release after 10.2.0.1.0 is not 10.1 but 9.2.0.1.0. So it doesn’t seem to be possible to get Oracle database base release 10.1.0.2.0 from Oracle, only its patch sets.
