I have an iPhone 4S 16 gb that I bought on amazon recently, is new. I'd like to know if I will get iPhoto, iMovie, Garage Band, Pages, Numbers and Keynote for free if I open it and update to iOS 7.

If the apps were available for no charge, you could find them at the App Store on the iPhone you just bought.
But the way you're describing your purchase, I think it is very unlikely they would be free. Check and see.

Bought iPod touch on Sunday - do I get the apps for free?

I bought the iPod touch on Sunday (the 13th) from my local apple store, part of their policy is that I have 14 days to take it back whether it's faulty or not. So in theory I could go back and get my money refunded and then buy another iPod touch which should come with the advertised software (the mail apps etc). Does anyone know if I have to perform this ridiculous task or will I be updated for free as in the case of people buying mac computers within a certain period of time of a new OS coming out?

Thanks for the info and the quick reply. I just phoned apple tech support and after being transferred around the houses a number of times I was told firstly that the new iPod touch doesn't come with the software- so I directed the guy to the website to prove that it does, then he said I would just have to pay for it. I then said how about issuing me a gift card for £12.99 (the cost of the "upgrade" in the UK) and was again told there was nothing to be done. So I'm going to take it back to the apple store for a refund and to be honest I'm not sure I'm going to bother buying a new version after this.

I just got a new ipad air which came along with free iwork and ilife apps. I would like to know whether I can transfer the apps to my macbook pro for free?
As when I browse through app stores it actually shows as not purchased.

I was under the impression they were separate apps. When you bought your iPad Air, you got the iOS versions, but if you want the MacOS versions, you will need to purchase them.
They were free when you purchased a new iOS/MacOS product, but the free software would most likely coincide with that.

The apps that were under the 5 year of the App Store banner are no longer free. They are now, once again, for fee apps and that banner is gone from the store front. It was A limited time deal and appears to have ended. Those app developers were not going to give their apps away forever.

Sometimes that happens. Based on other users posts, you will no longer be able to purchase any more free app, paid apps or app updates until you add more money to your account/obtain a postitive balance.

Go to the App Store where you can purchase copies of the apps. You cannot get them for free. The ones installed belonged to the previous owner. You will need to purchase using your Apple ID.

Yes. The apps are not pre-installed, but rather you are prompted to download them the first time you launch the App Store in iOS 7:

The first time you launch the App Store in iOS 7 on your qualifying new or factory refurbished iOS device, you will be offered iMovie, iPhoto, Keynote, Pages, and Numbers for free in addition to other free software from Apple. When you tap Download All and sign in with your Apple ID, the apps will be downloaded to your device and added to your store account. If you tap Not Now when you see the offer, you can go back to each of the apps in the store and download them one at a time for free.

I purchased a Macbook Air on Sept. 7, can I get new iWork apps for free?

I didn't know if there was some kind of window for gettting these apps for free still since I made a purcahse with the past 6 or 7 weeks. Worth a shot I guess. I went back and forth on if I should buy it when I did or not because I used the student discount and it is still $50 less than they are asking for now so but with the $20 price of each app times 3 it turns out I will lose money if I have to buy the apps.

The cut off date is October 1.

You use your original install media. If you have PSE 11 you can download the trial and enter your serial number into that. For recent older versions, if you bought a download from adobe, if you go to the main page of adobe.com and click on My Adobe, you may still have a download link there. If your laptop came with PSE pre-installed, check your recovery partition to see if there's an installer there.

To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

Lion should stll be on the Recovery partition on your hard drive, unless you completely repartitioned the drive. If not, you should be able to use Lion Internet Recovery. See:

I bought my iPhone 5s since 1 year (after september). There i get the iWork apps for free. But now they cost money.
Some Information :
Now I´m on iOS8
I have changed one time my email-adress
My iPhone 5s is registered on my apple id
I hope you can help me, because i have tried so much...

I had the same problem on my iPad Air: i deleteded the apps before IOS8, then after the upgrade iWork was not on the cloud for free anymore. Thanks to your question I remembered I changed my appleID after the download of iWork. So I had to login with my previous appleID on the appstore and i could download them again for free. Maybe it works the same for you (but I'm not sure since you say your iPhone it's registered on your appleID). Give it a try.
