Getting Permission error in Contribute CS3

This is going into the 3rd week of being down due to lack of support from Adobe.
Our contribute server is set up to use active directory to validate the login. That works fine.
It fails when trying to validate the FTP loging to the webserver. I have it set that everyone shares the same FTP login.
This was working fine for about a year and then we started getting this error:
[Your permissions on this website have been revoked and you cannot edit pages on this website]
The known login and password work successfully in other software from that server.
We've ruled out the firewall. (packet sniffing shows no traffic from the server)
We've ruled out the antivirus software on the server. (turned it off and problem persist)
We checked the PSAPI.DLL . (there wasn't one in the contibute directory, copied sys32 one there)
We deleted the contribute.xml file from the webserver _mm folder (no difference)
I CANNOT login as ADMINISTRATOR.
I would like to know what files to remove (without uninstalling) so we can start from scratch.

We just moved our website to a SFTP server and I am having the exact same problems. This is incredibly frustrating. I am going to try the the numeric URL and see if that helps. If no, I will ask everyone to install CS4. Thanks for the help!

Help: Getting permission errors from an important document

I'm having permissions errors with a specific document. I've tried running Disk Utility with no luck.
The problem started when I tried to restore an older version of the document from Time Machine. Time Machine gave me an error saying I didn't have permissions to save the restored document. Time Machine also removed my newer version of the document, because I said I wanted Time Machine to replace the old document with the new one.
I was able to save the document from Time Machine to an external drive. But now I'm getting permissions errors with that document and I'm unable to save. The document is a Moneywell document (Moneywell is a finance app).
Here are some more details:
When I tried to saved the document, I got the following error: The file “Moneywell 2013.moneywell” is locked.
If you want to make changes to this document, click Unlock. To keep the file unchanged and work with a copy, click Duplicate.
There were three buttons: Duplicate, Cancel, Unlock
When I clicked Unlock, I got the following message:
"The file “Moneywell 2013.moneywell” cannot be unlocked.
You can duplicate this document and edit the duplicate."
There were two buttons: Cancel and Duplicate.
I clicked Duplicate and got the following message:
"Could Not Duplicate File
Moneywell could not duplicate your file at this time"
There was one button: OK
When I clicked OK, I got the following message:
"“Moneywell 2013.moneywell” couldn’t be copied because you don’t have permission to access 'Dropbox'
To view or change permissions, select the item in the Finder and choose File > Get Info."
So, I clicked OK.
I was saving to my Drop Box folder so I thought I'd try saving it somewhere else. I dragged the document out of my Dropbox folder and into my Documents folder (which is the parent folder for my Dropbox folder).
I got the same errors as I did when the document was in my Dropbox folder. Only this time when I chose Duplicate it's telling me I don't have permissions to my Documents folder:
"“Moneywell 2013.moneywell” couldn’t be copied because you don’t have permission to access “Documents”. To view or change permissions, select the item in the Finder and choose File > Get Info."
So, I don't know what's going on. I had none of these problems yesterday and my Moneywell document is the only document giving me this trouble.
I know permissions problems like this one are common so I hope someone can help me.

Back up all data. Don't continue unless you're sure you can restore from a backup, even if you're unable to log in.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Triple-click the following line to select it. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):

Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1 or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
Select

Getting permission error in portal.

Hi all,
In our company we have internal portal for all employees from different location ie.
http://<host><fully qualified domain name>:<port>/irj/portal
Now when i log in to this portal ,and i am given access to one of the folder in KM, and so i can view the list of document in this folder but when click on Document nothing is displayed and I get an error
" Permission denied: uri=/documents/Knowledge_Repository/Repositories/Order To Cash/Recruitment, permission=node_list_children, user=27****"
Is this the problem related with the permission ,I have read right with me.
Please suggest me cause of this error.

Zipping folder keep getting permission error even though I have permission

I am trying to zip a folder containing a few hundred items. every time I try I get this error. I have administrative access and permission, transferred this to the files inside, tried to copy it to an other disk and still I get this error. Any ideas as to why?

I didn't show quotes in my post because you has OS_E there. But yes, quotes are necessary with the spaces so you did that correctly. But just to confirm it cd'ed type pwd on the next prompt. Tht will print the current working directory which should be the one you just cd'ed to.
As for the zip, I don't get it. It should have worked if Desktop-123folder was really there. That error you see is what you would get if the file or folder to zip wasn't there. For example,
zip -rq garbage.zip garbage
will produce the same error if "garbage" doesn't exist.
So as an additional check add a ls command to list the folder which will error out if the folder is not there. The total command sequence should now be,
cd "/Volumes/OS E/Users/e"
pwd
ls -ld Desktop-123folder
sudo zip -rq Desktop-123folder.zip Desktop-123folder
And don't bother with the zip is ls reports an error. You sure Desktop-123folder is in e? If you get an error from that ls it isn't.

Time Capsule has a little lock on it, getting permission error now.

I just added a Mac Mini to my home network. I used my TC to move files and now want to create a Time Machine backup for my Mini on my TC. But... I now get an error that I cannot do this because I do not have the necessary read write append privileges on the network backup disk. There also appears to be a little padlock on the image of the network drive. Sharing and permissions indicate that "everyone" has no access, and if I try to add me as owner, it says I am not a recognized account. Any idea where to look for answers? I find similar questions to this, but all unanswered on the forum. Any help would be appreciated.

Unable to activate can mean the phone is jailbroken, or the computer used to restore it has been used to jailbreak a phone at some time in the past, or your antivirus or firewall is blocking access to gs.apple.com. It can also mean that the phone is locked to a carrier and the SIM in the phone is not from that carrier.

Script errors in Contribute CS3

I created a site recently that uses code from Particletree
for a Lightbox. (

When I browse those lightbox pages in Contribute, it throws
an IE warning about a JS error and asks me if I want to debug. I
have debugging turned off in IE, but Contribute must not be using
my settings. Is there way to tell IE in Contribute to not display
those messages?

Moving iPhoto Library gets permission error

I'm trying to move my iPhoto library from my macbook pro to my mac mini with Lion server. About 40MB in, I get "The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items." Every other search I've done with this seems to be someone with an SMB server having trouble. I thought this would be pretty straightforward (lion to lion). I'm connected to my server as a registered user with read/write permissions.
Any thoughts?

Dreamweaver CS6 - ftp stops on some files or get permission errors

Just installed DW CS6 version 12.0 build 5861 yesterday on windows 8.1. The FTP connects & will upload some files but stalls with images. An example is an image called gov_logo.jpg . It is only 27kb but it stalls with only part of image on server. This is not the only problem image. Time-out is set to 60 seconds & the image will upload with a different ftp client as my host has checked & tested it. I have seen lots of so called fixes & have tried all but have noticed this issue is unresolved for lots of people. Could someone please help.

Hi Nancy,
I have used DW since DW MX back when it was Macromedia, then upgraded to Studio 8 & they worked well. Macromedia even did some trouble shooting for me & I'm just one of the small guys. Adobe on the other hand seem to leave you high & dry.
this just seems absurd(I'm not getting at you). I had researched these products from their respective sites before purchase. Yes it does seem that it's a win8.1 issue yet Adobe is selling their DWcs6 saying it works fine on 8.1 & obviously it doesn't properly. Just the posts in this website clearly show that it's not a one off issue & there are plenty of other forums & websites stating this issue. For anyone else that may & will have this same issue there seems to be no resolution & you may as well throw your DWcs6 & your windows 8.1 computer in the bin & kiss goodbye to a few thousand dollars for those products & a few more for the work you lose. It seems Adobe & Microsoft don't care about small clients & loosing them won't effect their bottom line, they are too big for that.

In my opinion both of these links have misrepresented their products joint compatibility & this is what I went off before forking out the $$.
This link shows just a small fraction of people complaining about windows 8.1 WinInet issue including DW cs6 users. FtpOpenFile and InternetWriteFile broken/changed in IE11 | Microsoft Connect.
Once again thanks to you Nancy & bregent for taking the time to assist me, as without you guys similar problems people have could take a huge toll on them. Keep it up. :-)
Is there a direct contact for Adobe? Or is this forum it? As I might have to buy a Mac & swap the windows version of DW cs6 to the Mac version. Or would you reccomend another way around it?

HT5096 What about the permission errors from ACLs when you try this?

I followed the instructions for using Finder to copy the Backups.backupdb directory and get permission errors. Another post says to use DiskUtility restore. I guess I'll try that after wasting a day.

Hi -- we copy zip files and move them from one site to another. Prior to zipping, we have to push the permissions through on the home folders. Perhaps you should do this. Just do a get info on the folder and apply permissions to internal folders. However, this will not capture hidden folders.
If you are on a local workstation and are backing up the home, to reset the permissions (ACLs) -- just reset the password (you can even reset it to the same password).

Adobe Contribute CS3 Connection Error

I am trying to use Adobe Contribute CS3 Version 3.1 to connect our web server. I can use WS_FTP and WinSCP to connect to it fine. Our web server is running under CentOS 5.x. When I try to connect using the connection wizard in Contribute, I receving the following error:
Contribute cannot verify your connection information.
/tmp
Please contact your administrator for assistance.
I have tried both FTP and SFTP. Again, I can login, navigate to /tmp and upload, download, and delete files fine using WinSCP. Can someone let me know what Contribute is trying to do to verify the connection? Is there a log file? Any help is appreciated.

When I first tried to connect to our web server, I received a similar error. What worked for me was getting rid of the folder designation when trying to connect in Contribute (in your case /tmp) and allowing users to have permissions to access all folders on the web server. I create Contribute roles to limit the users to specific folders.

Javascript errors when formating text and images in Contribute CS3

I'm using Contribute CS3 on Vista, I insert an image inside a
paragraph tag with text then align the image
ie the source code looks like this:

I change the text in the paragraph to bold

I will get the following error messages:
1 This error appears 2 times:
"While executing DW_Text_CSS_Style canAcceptCommand in
ccText_Styles.htm, a JavaScript error occurred."
2 This error appears 2 times:
"While executing DW_Text_Bold canAcceptCommand in
Text_Style.htm, a JavaScript error occurred."
3 This error appears 3 times:
"While executing DW_Text_Italic canAcceptCommand in
Text_Style.htm, a JavaScript error occurred."
4 Next all the styles and formatting options are greyed out
but I can still publish or discard.
To be able to apply the styles and formatting in Contribute
CS3 I now need to close the application and reopen it again and be
careful not to reproduce the error.
I've also tried renaming the Configuration folder under
c:\Users\myusername\appData\Local\Adobe\Contribute CS3\ but it
hasn't worked.
We've reproduced this error on 3 similar machines in our
office all running cs3 but the bug doesn't occur when performing
the same steps in Contribute 3 or dreamweaver CS3 which is running
side by side on these machines.

It might be trying to pull the image from a different
location than the image is currently stored in. Try to move the
image file to a different folder and then load.

I resolved the problem in Snow Leopard by logging out of my (admin) account and logging into my daughter's account on the same machine. She doesn't have admin privileges, so when I tried to install Firefox 4 in her account, I had to authenticate with my admin identity and PW. Installation went smoothly after that. My guess is that you could also simply create a new account on the same machine and install Firefox 4 from that. I have no idea why this works.

Hi David,
Open the start menu, then select Control Panel in the right hand column. Open the Programs and Features section, type Apple in the search box at top right. You need to uninstall the components in the order suggested in the user tip.
Once all have been uninstalled reboot and use Windows Explorer to locate the named folders and delete them. Then reinstall.

Try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - Run Option #1, Repair Permissions.
