Getting Photo's on the iPod

Hey guy's,
I can't believe I'm asking this but I'm just missing something. How on earth do i get pictures off my HD onto the Ipod. There seems to be no Folder for Pictures just "Contacts" and "Notes" internally. iTunes handles the video, podcast etc but I don't see Pics.
It's not done in iphoto is it...I couldn't see anywhere?
I was hoping for a simple Photo folder which i could drag and drop into...
Any help appreciated.

just make a folder and put all your pictures inside that folder. you can even put folders inside that folder if you want to be organized. then connect your ipod to your pc..wait for it to appear on itunes, then goto the ipod preferrences(that ipod icon at the lower right side of the screen) click on it and choose the photos tab. from there just specify where that particular folder you just made is located and ipod will sync any photos in that particular folder.
Got it?

    Try here:
    iTunes: Unable to sync photos
Usually deleting the iPod Photo Cache Folder works. Note that if you sync via the folder method, make sure you dlete all the ifolders since :
The iPod Photo Cache stores the photos that are optimized for display on your iPod, iPad, or iPhone. The location of this folder depends on the syncing options you select. In iTunes, if you change the selection in the “Sync Photos From” pop-up menu, a new iPod Photo Cache folder will be created (and the previous folder will remain).

This is getting frustrating.  Every example of my problem has the same reply:
Try deleting the iPod Photo Cache folder.  This is normally located in your pictures folder.  Once this is done, try syncing again.

I have NO photos on my Ipod Nano.  I select "Photos" and the Ipod goes to a blank screen with the msg "No Photos" at the bottom.  There must be some other file missing.  Itunes won't connect to the Ipod, I keep getting the same error over and over.  It would be nice if it told me what file is missing.

  • Can't get photos from iPhoto to iPod

My iPod software won't recognize my iPhoto library so I can't synch pictures. When I select the iPod Option to synchronize photos from iPhoto and do an iPod update, it doesn't transfer and photos from iPhoto and in fact it unchecks the synchronize photos option in the iPod software. I'm using a 60GB video iPod w/the current iPod software, iTunes 6.0.1, iPhoto 5.0.4 on an iMac G5, running OS X 10.4.3.

    Archyeon:
    Here's how to do it:
Getting Photos from iPhoto 5 to an iPod
create a special Album in iPhoto for the Nano and place those photos in it you want on the iPod.
connect the Nano to the Mac and when mounted in iTunes open iTunes' preferences and go to the iPod Photos section - Figure 1.
scroll down till you see the album and select it. If you don't want the full sized image files to be copied to the Nano do not select the Include full-resolution photos box.
close the preferences and when the syncing is completed dismount the Nano and then disconnect from the Mac.

You'll likely need the assistance of some sort of 3rd party software.  Keep in mind that the photos on your iPod are only scaled down thumbnail versions of the originals.  So even if you do manage to copy them backt to your PC, they will not be in their full original resolution.
Do a simple Google search for "copy photos from ipod" and you should get a number of hits that can assist you.

Be sure Safari does not have the Block Pop-Up Windows preference set.
Where I work now there are several unencrypted VLANs that require authentication, and Safari promptly pops up a window for me to register every time.

  • When I download itunes, it says that Ipod Service failed to start. I checked the services under task manager and when I try to start it, it says access denied. How to I get access and for the ipod service to start and run?

Please help. My ipod classic could not be recognised by itunes when I connect my ipod to PC. Previously it has been recognised before I updated. This was a while ago now and so I removed all apple files and re installed the latest itunes but am having the same problem.
When I download itunes, it says that Ipod Service failed to start. I checked the services under task manager and when I try to start it, it says access denied. How to I get access and for the ipod service to start and run?

Some anti-virus programs (e.g., McAfee) have this rule that can be invoked under the "maximum protection" settings: PREVENT PROGRAMS REGISTERING AS A SERVICE. If that rule is set to BLOCK, then any attempt to install or upgrade iTunes will fail with an "iPod service failed to start" message.
If you are getting this problem with iTunes, check to see if your anti-virus has this setting and unset it, at least for as long as the iTunes install requires. Exactly how to find the rule and turn it on and off will vary, depending upon your anti-malware software. However, if your anti-virus or anti-malware software produces a log of its activities, examining the log may help you find the problem.
For example, here's the log entry for McAfee:
9/23/2009 3:18:45 PM Blocked by Access Protection rule NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe \REGISTRY\MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\iPod Service Common Maximum Protection:Prevent programs registering as a service Action blocked : Create
Note that the log says "Common Maximum Protection: Prevent programs registering as a service". The "Common Maximum Protection" is the location of the rule, "Prevent programs registering as a service" is the rule. I used that information to track down the location in the McAfee VirusScan Console where I could turn the rule off.
After I made the change, iTunes installed without complaint.

  • When i connect my ipod shuffle to itunes i get an error message the ipod cannot be synced, the required disk cannot be found  anyone have this happen?

When i connect my ipod shuffle to itunes i get an error message the ipod cannot be synced, the required disk cannot be found  anyone have this happen? How do i get past it?

I seem to recall that this may be cause by overloading the USB bus (lack of power to go around).  Shut down your computer.  Reset the iPod shuffle using this procedure.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1655
Disconnect ALL peripheral USB devices, including keyboard and mouse.  Power up the computer.  If you need your mouse, connect it and launch iTunes.  Connect the iPod shuffle to a direct USB port and try the sync again.  See if there is any difference.

  • Had to restore, now I can't get iTunes to read the iPod

I had to restore my iPod touch to factory setting when it froze up. Now I can't get iTunes to read the iPod. I get a sceen on iTunes that says "An iPod has been previously synced with this computer." Then there are two choices, "Set Up as a New iPod" or "Restore from the backup of: My iPod". I clicked on both and neither did anything. I can get music, but not apps, to go on the iPod, but I usually add things to the iPod manually. I don't see a way to do this. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. I have no idea what else to do. Some help, please!

Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
After that go to Settings > Wi-Fi and key in your Wi-Fi settings.

  • Photo sequence on the ipod touch

    Hello,
I have a small problem with my new iPod touch. I will use him as electrical photo album, but unfortunately I can not determine under what criterion the iPod images sorted and where to set these criteria. ..
If I upload pictures to the iPod the photo sequence on the iPod Touch is completely without patterns and agrees not coincide with the sequence of images in windows ... The photos are in windows properly named (001 to 250) ...
The "shuffle" preferences, has nothing to do ... its off ... so what can i do???
maybe someone knows where i can adjust according to what criteria the images are sorted, or maybe I need another program?
    Thank you
    Fabian

Perhaps ypu could elaborate on your file naming convention. Is the 001 at the beginning or end of the file name?
On my iPod touch syncing from WinXP I see the images in file name sequence.

  • Does the number of photos stored on the Ipod touch affect the quality of photos

My IPod touch had started out taking great photos, but over time I ended up storing well over 500 photos on it. Recently I noticed that my new photos are of very poor quality (fuzzy) could this be due to the volume of photos stored. I can easily delete them, but would like advice if my photo qulity is affected by storing too many photos in the device.
Another photo question. ONce a photo is deleted, is it truly gone, r can it be retrieved?
    Thanks!

" Recently I noticed that my new photos are of very poor quality (fuzzy) could this be due to the volume of photos stored."
    No.
"ONce a photo is deleted, is it truly gone, r can it be retrieved?"
it is gone.  Unless you had syncd while the photos was on the ipod.  The you coudl restore form backup.
Why do you keepo so many pics in the camera roll?  You should be importing these pics regulalry to your computer, as you would with any digital camera.

  • How do you get Photos to recognize the "old" iPhoto Library on an external drive without it copying it to the internal drive on the computer which is low in HD space?

How do you get Photos to recognize the “old” iPhoto Library on an external drive without it copying it to the internal drive on the computer which is low in HD space?

Launch Photos while holding down the alt/options key.
This will show the Library Chooser panel. Select the library on the external drive. Photos will create a Photos Library on the same drive.
Photos may not be able to open the library, however, if your external drive has an incompatible file system. It needs to be formatted MacOS Extended (Journaled) and locally mounted, not a remotely mounted volume, as described here:  Format external drives to Mac OS Extended before using with Aperture

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping.  Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
Would you mind telling me which anti-virus package you use? It may be that it is disturbing iTunes when it tries to write out the fresh database, as it does after almost any activity with your library. I'm noticing more of this type of problem than usual and trying to see if there is any pattern. It may help to prevent a repeat of the problem if you look at the advanced options for your AV package and see if you can find a way to exclude the iTunes folder from any real-time scanning process.

i am trying to sync my 160gb, but get an error message "the ipod cannot be synced. a duplicate file name was specified. it only syncs a small % of music.  any clues?

Hmm.  It could be an indication or a damaged or dying hard drive.  I would recommend doing a disk diagnostic on the iPod's HD using the instructions given by turingtest2 in this older thread.  He also covers what the resulting numbers indicate.

If necessary, post the resultings numbers and we can verify what the next steps to take.
