Getting Photoshop to read RW2 files

Hi, I've recently bought a Lumix GX1 camera - a really lovely piece of kit. The problem is that it shoots in a RW2 format for RAW. I've read about the Camera Raw 5.2 install, have installed it from Adobe downloads, and put the new plug-in where instructed to from the download instructions. PS still can't read them! I'm running Photoshop CS4 on a mac, os 10.5.8. Any ideas?

I have a panasonic FZ28 that shoots RW2 RAW files. I see PE7 has Camera Raw but when I try and open the file it says it can't be parsed?

Brian, I searched for the same... had the same issue... and was tickled to find your post that said you have the same camera as me. I'm just curious, are you as happy with the camera as I am? I bought one for me and one for my husband, and it's so good that i'm tempted to buy one more & just put it in the closet for the day this one dies. OMG... how did I ever find a camera with every feature I ever wanted... easy to use interface and the lightest weight I could have ever imagined. I'm just thinking it's the best kept secret out there. Or is it?

Hi all, please help me reinstall Itunes onto my PC. When i did a pc refresh, it deleted my itunes and microsoft office. I am now trying to reinstall itunes and am getting the following message each time i try run the new downloaded version ( i have tried a few older and the latest one and all show the same message)

Tell us some version numbers please, of your Mac OS versions and iTunes versions on both computers (two eMacs yes?).

Unfortunately, there are no camera raw updates that work with photoshop cs4 that will open the canon 70d files directly.
Which operating system are you using?
Since photoshop cs4 can only be updated to camera raw 5.7 and the canon 70 d requires at least camera raw 8.2, you could use the adobe dng converter to convert the
canon 70d files to dng copies which then photoshop cs4 should open.

Can't get java to read my file input

I have a program that ask at prompt what the name of your input file will be... something for example like input.txt can be typed and a scanner puts that text "input.txt" into a string called maybe inputs.
The problem I am having is I can not get the scanner to then look at the string and open the file with the same name in the folder and read it.
I not sure if im putting the name correct in the new File so to make it look at "input.txt" and I keep getting Class FileNotFoundException
any ideas?

Java is likely looking for your file in a location other than where the file is. Do you know where your current user.dir is? Create a small program that does nothing but this:

Cannot get LR4 to read xmp files from a Nikon D4, Reads the D3S xmp files fine.

I am doing some editing work for a magazine. The lead editor had issues with adobe camera raw viewing some of my edits. The xmp files are there but for some reason they are not loading. We narrowed it down to just the Nikon D4 files. I just had her download a trial version of LR4 and we are getting the same issue. The xmp's are there in the same folder as the .nef files. Import into Lightroom, and all D4 files do not show my edits.
We are both running Lightroom 4.3, Camera Raw 7.3.

LR may or may not have up-to-date XMP files if you haven’t explicitly written them.
I have not encountered the XMP-ignored-if-timestamp-before bug but I believe it is the actual Windows/Mac file-modification timestamp, not something inside the file.
My suggestion is to write all the XMP files, again, and resend those to her. That way you’ll know their contents is current and that their timestamp will have been updated to something after the raw files timestamp. If the images are all in oen or a efw folders then the easiest way to update all their XMPs is to right-click on a folder in Library and choose Save Metadata. If the photos are more scattered but you can select them all in the Library grid view just right-click on one and choose Save Metadata to Files—make sure it says Files not File.
I assume both of you are on Windows, not one on Windows and one on a Mac?

Getting error when reading xml file from a remote connection

Hi all,
I want to read an xml file from a remote connection, not from my local machine.So when i am creating the data server i am giving the host name(that is the ip of the machine where the xml file is located), giving the proper username and password and giving the path of the xml file. When i am testing the connection the error that is coming:- "Connection failed and the xml file could not be created, verify that you have write permission in the directory"...
but read write and execute permissions have been given on the directory as well as to the file...

Initially I have started the agent.sh giving the agent name <agent name>and port number 20910 and defined it in the topology manager it is showing that the agent test is succesful. Then I tested a particular Data server against that agent and the test was successful.
After this we had stopped the agent and restarted it.

HT3847 is the Itunes music folder no longer used? having trouble getting Itunes to read music files

Copied files from old computer to new computer and put in itunes/itunesmusic folder. The only files being read it appears are my purchased files from the itunes store and it looks like those are in itunes/itunesmedia/music. But when I copy into the media folder I still can't see songs that were not purchased from the itunes store. The old computer can still see the entire library, what is wrong? Running Windows 8.1

I can't get flash to read my file

I have an audio file that I want to import into adobe flash (mp3) and I've converted it into every file type and codec imaginable and it still says there's a problem.

what's the file type?
if it's mp3, open in audition and save it with a bitrate of 44.1kb/s and test. if that works, you can use (some) other bitrates better suited to your situation.

Photoshop will not read my RW2 files!

I have Photoshop CS6 (it wont let me update it any higher) and I have upgraded to the RAW 7.1 but it still will not read RW2 files. Any suggestions?

How to get motion to read text from file?

There has to be a way to do this. I have a large file of text (transcripts from a clip several minutes long) and I want to make subtitles using Motion.
How can I get Motion to read the file and create a text object with the sentence/line in the file, then move to the next one and do the same thing for the next line? Thus it would make a timeline with several objects of individual sentences of text. Anyone have some ideas how to do this?

I was just playing around, and I think I figured out how to get what you want. First, change the layout method for the generator to "Paragraph", you can find this in the layout section of the generator. In your document, use carraige returns (return key) to define each section of text. To control the speed that each line appears, change the speed setting to custom, and then adjust the end keyframe.

I'm using a relative path to my .pfx file for both the transportServerCredential and licenseServerCredential in the flashaccess-tenant.xml and my password has been scrambled using the Scrambler.bat.
Also, when I verify setup using http://<LicenseServer>:8080/flashaccessserver/flashaccess/license/v2 I get the message 'License server is setup correctly.'

I agree with you that if I can successfully playback content the license serve is setup successfully. Here is what I've tried and how I've set things up:
I have my license server setup (its the Protected Streaming version).
I'm using Adobe Media Server as my content/packaging server. I successfully served Vanilla PHLS sample streams to the sample Adobe Access player on iOS devices.
I have configured the Adobe Media Server to point to the license server and certificates as per the documenation and this Adobe Dev article (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/adobe-media-server/articles/content-protection-using-phds-phls .html). Since I am using a trial version of Adobe Access my .der files are the same for transport and packaging.
I am using the local key mode to remove one more variable (I have setup a remote key server as well).
I have placed a copy of the 'vod-policy.pol' policy file from the reference license server resources directory in my Adobe Media Server 'creds' directory and used the relative path '..creds/vod-policy.pol' in the httpd.conf file.
When I attempt to load the sample stream http://<mymediaserver>/hls-vod/sample2_1000kbps.f4v.m3u8 using the Adobe Access sample player on my iOS device I receive the following errors in the player:
DRM error Major[3363] minor:[0] NSError:(null)]
From my knowledge of working with the Adobe Access Objective C library to create a PhoneGap plugin it appears that a decrypted playlist is not being returned by the Adobe Media Server. Additionally, I can find no information in the Adobe Media Server or Adobe Access logs that pertain to my setup.
I would love to have someone from Adobe speak to the problems I am having. I find the documentation to be hit and miss and most of my successful results during this proofing process have been from piecing together disparate pieces of information and trial and error. Information on using the Adobe Media Server with Adobe Access is limited to one Devnet article (above) and the help in Adobe Media Server that doesn't explain pathing to the license server or Java policy files in any detail.

Illustrator files cannot be opened: Could not read the file because an error has occurred.

I cannot open some files from Illustrator which contain PNG files placed. When I try to open the file, I get a message saying: "this png contains addtional data for Adobe fireworks, which will be discarded upon save." When I press "ok" I get the same screen again. When I press "cancel" I get: "coulld not read the file because an error has occured". I am currently working on a Mac Mavericks. Using Illustrator cc and Fireworks CS6.

If you have some file corruption, one thing often tried first is to create a new document and File>Place the (PDF contents, if any of the) corrupted one to see how much may be rescued that way.

The first little repeat loop that I added is a bit on the tricky side. what's happening is this:
The sort command returns a list of Finder object references (they look like File X of folder Y of Disk Z). Only the Finder and System Events know what to do with these; outside of Finder and SE tell blocks they throw errors. the trick is to convert these to alias format which is recognized by applescript everywhere.
the repeat loop runs through the theItems list. itemI is a reference to an item in the list (basically a pointer, if you know C). the contents of itemI to itemI as alias line first converts the value of itemI to alias format, then set the thing itemI points to (the actual item in the list) to that new value.
What comes out the far end is a list of aliases understandable by other parts of the script.
