Getting random blocks of black pixels in blue areas of image.

For no apparent reason I am opening images where there would be a blue background, and getting blocks or streaks of black pixels. Using CS 5. How do I prevent or correct? Thanks, Jim.

Thank you, that corrected the problem. In a screen shot you would have seen just random scattered blocks of black pixels in place of blue. The blue could be any shade of blue. Can you please explain why disabling the OpenGL Drawing option corrected the problem? Is it primarily a function of incompatability with Photoshop and my video card? Finally am I just primarily sacrificing speed if I were working in 3D. Thanks for any information you may have since it is obvious you know what's going on. Jim

  • Freezing iMac G5 with random red and black pixels, HELP!

Hello all, and thanks in advance for helping. Here's my dilemma: I have a 20" iMac G5 that I have been using for 2-3 years or so. I recently started doing less work on it, as I replaced it with a new 24" iMac, so now it is used for one or two programs as well as occasional internet use. The system began to become slower, then finally started freezing between minimal tasks, even something as simple as pressing TAB in Safari, to trying to make a new folder in iPhoto. We restarted a bunch of times, and even tried clearing the PRAM. Now, it freezes during the start-up and there's little red and black boxes (small, maybe 4x4 or 6x6 worth of pixels) appearing randomly on the screen. When we are able to get the system to start, after one or two small tasks (opening the Address Book, or starting Safari) the program freezes, the pinwheel starts spinning, and I lose any chance to do anything more on the computer without powering down. Any advice or suggestions is appreciated! Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.

    Hi PPRI and Miriam,
Same deal going on here. It's been a while since I last posted - meaning no problems (which is goooood). So here is the issue:
Would stop at blue screen before loading to main screen. Minor repair on HD volume, and now freezes on main screen very quickly, after booting past blue screen. A few wierd pixels are seen, which lets me know that it has frozen.
    Here's what I did:
Hardware check with utility - no problems found, including logic board. From the manual, it seems like it is a software issue.
As before, I repaired a few permissions and minor repair on HD volume. Still not working.
Also opened up my vents and carefully vacuumed the dust - fans were spinning hard. Still, not working.
My next step is to do an archive & install. I'm not sure how to backup my files, so this will have to suffice. This leads me to my questions:
Q1 - How do you burn a backup, without an external HD and without being able to get past my main screen?
Q2 - I noticed a post before this one, concerning the same issue, with Miriam posting on it. Is it overkill to post the same problem/question in another thread in order to maximize the chances for a good response? Any suggestions Miriam?
Thank you for being so helpful. Apple community rocks!
(PS - will let you know how the archive/install goes. If it doesn't work, I may pay to back my files on disc, and then I'll try reformatting HD altogether. Again, will let you know how it goes).
(PS2 - Not sure if this matters, but my imac was one the ones that needed the free extended warranty for the capacitor issues - identified by the serial numbers. Doubt that's the problem since it was working fine after repairs).

  • Graphics - intermittently loosing 3D rendering or getting random blocks

I have a problem with my Labview 7.1 runtime application that may be actually be a Windows, Video Driver or PCAnywhere problem but I am checking in the Labview forum in case it is actually a Labview issue or others have seen this.
I have several remote monitoring systems, based on standard Industrial PCs with Windows 2000 each with their own local kvm display. I connect to these systems daily to collect data, check and develop the software. I use PCAnywhere for the flexibility, but lately I have upgraded to PCAnywhere 11.5 and I have been experiencing problems with the video graphics, that are mirrored on the local display. Firstly the 3D graphics looses its nicely rendered edges and looks like a very low res, low colour. This is not always cleared by changing the display settings. It just doesn't look so good but the display is still readable. A worse problem that occurs is that the display converts into random blocks, obviously based on the original screen but not coherent. Both problems appear to start when the connection is made and may clear up randomly or need a complete reset to be cleared.
Advice so far has been that we need the latest video drivers but we believe we have them.
Has any of these issues been reported by other Labview users?
    Thanks
    Lucy

It seems to me that the graphics compression algorithms of PCanywhere take some shortcuts to save bandwidth. I am not familiar with pcanywhere, but maybe you can change some compression settings if you have a fast connection.
(Personally I am using VNC (e.g. tightVNC) and the settings are quite adjustable).

  • Black pixels on certain colours

One some images, as I increase the resolution, black pixels appear. When the image fits the screen, I can't see anything but as I increase the resolution, these black pixels become very obvious, but only on certain colours, like the blue of this dress.
    Help !!!  What's going on ?
    Anyone know ?

Looks like a known problem with some AMD/ATI graphics card drivers: pixels with red=0 are displayed black. As far as I know, the very recent Catalyst 13.2 beta 5 is good.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

    What graphics card is installed?
Have you looked inside to see if the interior is dusty?
    Is the graphics card dusty?
If equipped, is the fan on the graphics card turning?
Leopard uses the graphics card harder than Tiger, so weakness in the graphics card is more easily shown.

  • How to get rid of the Black

    Hi,
I have uploaded an image to pixcentral (see url below) and wanted to ask the pros how they would (using PSE 5)
Get rid of the black (make transparent) in any part of the picture that is not part of a person. As you can see, parts of the arms and legs are as black as the rest of the image.
    http://www.pixcentral.com/images/475869wimbledon.jpg
I have been trying various extraction tools and although I am getting better, I was wondering if there was an easier way. It would really be great if I could actually see your result (even if you only do a portion of it and post it back on Pixcentral (for example, the tennis player on the top left or bottom left).
Thanks as always for your help on this great forum.
    Bob Wagner

    Hi Bob,
You may have simply been an unfortunate victim of downloading an image from the web.
If you click on your link to open the image in your browser. Then go to the VIEW menu and select SOURCE (Internet Explorer) you should see a page that starts with something along the following lines:
If you see any words in the meta line that are likely to indicate adult content, this could be the reason why our web filtering system blocked access - even if the content is entirely suitable to family viewing!
It is my understanding that some people use the meta tags to add descriptors for the page so that search engines pick up on these (not to mention web filtering systems) in the hope that others users out there who search for these key words will be provided with a link to that page.
Thank you for clarifying though and best wishes with help from other users / contributors to this forum.

  • Why is it when using my iPhone 4s front camera, the screen sometimes turn black or have blue stripes on it? What's wrong with it and what should I do?

When using my iPhone 4s front camera, the screen sometimes become black or have blue stripes on it! Is this a hardware or software problem? Can this issue be covered by my warranty? I bought it inmid-december last year, and this problem came at around Late January. It's a rare case, only came about 5 times, but this really concerns me. What's wrong with it? Thank you so much for your concern.

    thank you for your reply
I brought it to the store and they agreed to give me an exchange. thank goodness!
I have a new question: I've now transferred my back up datas to my new iphone. They wanted me to register, so I registered (as my old apple ID) and then they asked if I want to restore backup, I did that too. after the restore back up process, the only things that aren't there were my music and apps! what should I do to get them into my new iPhone?

  • Draw line between black pixel : coordinates of selected pixels ?

    Hi
I want to build a script which can check a Photoshop file and :
    - find black pixel
    - for each black pixel, look for another black pixel within maximum distance of 5 pixels
    - then draw a line between the two black pixels.
I wrote this script below (my first script ...), but it's VERY slow (and my final image is VERY big), I think because I test the colour for each pixel of the image.
So another solution would be to first select black pixel with magic wand, then the script save all coordinates of selected pixels, then my script wil test only this pixels (less than 1% of the pixels are black in my image).
Is it possible with JavaScript ?
Thank you for your response !

The first alert should have shown the first pathPoint.anchors for all the subPaths in the path.
The xyArray is just something I added for the alerts. The array 'myPathInfo' should have all the info extracted from the path.
myPathInfo.length will tell you how many subPaths are in the Path.
myPathInfo[index].entireSubPath.length will tell you how many pathPoints are in that subPath
myPathInfo[index].entireSubPath[index].anchor will tell you the position of that pathPoint.
    The indexes start with zero.
The bounding box of the entire subPath can be hard to work out just from the pathPoints. Unless all the point are corner points the path may extend beyond the anchors. One think you can do is create a new path from just one of the subPaths, convert by to a selection, and then get the bounds from the selection. You can make a new path from a subPath using the 'myPathInfo' array from above.
    app.activeDocument.pathItems.add("myPath1", [myPathInfo[0]]);
That line will make a new path from the first subPath. Change the index to use a different subPath.
Some other info that may help.
app.activeDocument.histogram[0] will tell you how may black pixels are in the document. But its no help determining where they are. If that returns 0 there are no black pixels.
If you don't have any luck working with converting the original color range selection into a path and need to go back to searching with the colorSampler it may help to use a grid approach. For example make a square selection, the size depending on how scattered the black pixels are, say 25x25px. Then use color range to select black. With an active selection it will only select pixels in that selected area( if any). You could then check to see if there is a selection. If not make another same size square to the right edge of the last area. If there is a selection, the solid property will tell you if more than one black pixel was selected( unless they are right next to each other ). If solid == true the selection bounds will tell you where the pixel is. If false you have to then search that square. But if there are areas where there are no black pixels checking a square range of pixels at once should be quite a bit faster than checking every pixel. And checking the historgram first will let you know if you should bother searching to start with.

  • Can't get rid of the black

    http://dealeradbrowser.com/newsletters/august2013.html
I can't get rid of the black under the guy.
I can't find it in the code. No borders. No padding.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you.

OK change the code to look like this:
    <img style="display: block;" src="http://dealeradbrowser.com/images/salesman3.png" width="255" height="342"  border="0" alt=""/>
Look at the bold text that needs to be added and it should work.
    Good luck.

  • 32 bit HDR - black pixel speckling when Remove Ghosts checked

    Hi,
I'm using LR4.4, PS CS5 12.0.4, OS X 10.6.8. I'm able to view the 32 bit TIF back in LR, but when I zoom in to 2:1, I can see obvious speckling of mostly black pixels in various dark parts of the image. This only happens when I have Remove Ghosts checked. I actually had just thought of doing a test without it checked to confirm my suspicion, and I was right. Unfortunately I need it checked for some of the images with motion.

Here's a very noticeable example. Others are less apparent.
    http://www.johnmaclean.com/32bit_black1.png
And I'm getting these dialogs, which I don't think have any relevance.

I am having a similar problem with Merge to HDR from Lightroom 4 to CS6.
First of all, here is the dark exposure processed entirely in Lightroom.  As you can see there is good shadow detail and no blown highlights:
    I
Now here is the image using the darkest and lightest (of 3 exposures) manually blended.  Here the shadow detail is naturally better (although it isn't obvious on the small image shown here):
Now here is the image from HDR Pro with remove ghosts on the darkest of the 3 images.  As you can see there is very bad (practically no) shadow detail (look at the hillside on the left):
Here is the HDR Pro with remove ghosts on the middle of the 3 images.  As you can see the clouds are badly blown/posterised:
And here is the HDR Pro with remove ghosts on the most over-exposed image.  As you can see the sky is completely messed up:
Essentially unusable for this sort of image.  Hope this gets fixed soon!!

    Hi beginner_2012,
Thank you for your post, I will do my best to assist you.
I grasp that you were getting the error "display driver amd driver stopped responding and has successfully recovered" quite often.  Then a  few days later you got the blue screen then the above error message, after 2 -3 more errors the screen is now blank or black. Here is a document to assist you with this.  Troubleshooting Black Screen Displays with No Error Messages During Startup or Boot.

  • IPhone 5 is rebooting, showing error code on startup and turning white screen with black pixel edges.

My iPhone 5 yesterday began acting weird.  Here's a list in order of what is happening.
    Phone reboots randomly
Plugged phone into itunes, phone screen lower 3rd started dimming to black after I plugged it in.  I unplugged it and it reboot.
Unlocked the phone later in the day and the screen began turning White and an edge of black pixels began forming on the edges of the screen.  The phone kept heating so I know it was eating the battery.  Got home plugged it into the wall socket and it started charging, batter was empty.
    Phone's worked fine this morning
Phone did random reboot, but this time, code was visible in the upper left hand corder on the apple startup logo, it stalled here for two minutes and then finished loading.
Phone worked fine, , did the iOS 6.1.4 update.
Phone did random reboot again, this time the reboot vibrate held in vibration mode for 20 seconds.
    Phone is now working fine.
Ah, should I bring it in?
    Thanks,
    Clay

Based on what you're describing, I'd say make an appointment at the genius bar and have them take a look at it. This sounds like a hardware problem.

This trojan is distributed on illegal websites that traffic in pirated movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect much worse to happen in the future.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the DownLite developer has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight is inexcusable and has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
