Getting rid of audio hums

Well - I have a Cannon GL2, and an external mic that I used to shoot. After I captured my footage, I noticed during some of my takes there's a low sounding hum underneath the entire take. Is there a trick to get rid of that? If not...uh oh!

I had the same problem with a huge amount of hum in a recording I made. I spent most of a day working with the built-in audio filters, including the hum filter. Nothing removed it. I read other posts where they recommended SoundSoap2 from Bias. I went to their site and watched this video http://www.bias-inc.com/downloads/videos/soundsoap2/movie.php a couple of times then ordered it through Amazon.com (which saved me about $40).
I got SoundSoap2 in the mail today and in about 10 minutes I had it installed and the hum removed from the video. It's easy to use (just watch the video and you are trained) and worked like a charm for me. I highly recommend this product.

mains hum is in the frequency range of the material you would want to keep so using a filter will degrade the sound more than it will enhance it

How do I get rid of audio pops and clicks between clips in Final Cut Pro X?

Is there a layman, non-professional way to do this? These are just video files... i don't know anything about formats of different files and all that, but i read in other posts that the files should be "uncompressed 48k something something", but i dont even know how to convert the audio(From video) that's already on my timeline to this format

Your clicks probably are related to the fact that you are using the whole clip, leaving no "handles". Handles are extra portions of a clip, before and after the portion you use in your timeline.
The clicks are probably caused by the camera. You are using whole clips (that is why you get the warning when trying Cmd-T, "there is no extra media..."), so you are starting and ending right where the camera did.
If possible, trim a little bit at the end and start of each clip. Select just the edge of the clip (not the whole clip) and drag a little bit to shorten it. Just a few frames might be enough.
For the future, you should remember to let the camera capture a little more than you will actually use - so that you can have those "handles". See the picture.

Can't get rid of audio when deleting a video clip

I am very new to keynote.
I put in a video clip (mp4 or mov) and that's fine. I decide I want to change it so I delete it from the slide and insert another one. Tha's fine but the audio from the first clip is still there and plays away along with the new. If I do not add another clip but just press play the audio plays away on its own.
Obviously I have no visual indication of where this clip is and in my ignorance do not know where to find it to delete it. If i delete the whole slide of course it disappears but that is not the long term answer I am looking for.

@dkg62 – to make clear what's going on, select the text frame and show us another screenshot.
There are at least four cases where you can get a text like that. All cases imply, that the font you'd like to use is missing. I simulated this by formatting text with a font weight that is not available by a character style.
1. The most likely case: There is baseline shift applied; here in my case 9pt.
All other cases are academical, because the pink highlighting is aligned with the text:
2. Text frame options, baseline set to a fixed value (zero in this case)
3. Text on path and the text frame options (baseline) is just the standard default. You can see a second #-end of story sign inside the text frame.

Help getting rid of Audio during video import

Hi Everyone,
I wonder if someone could advise about a problem? We have a
number of video clips from a client in WMV format and wish to
import into Flash 8. We did this without any problems and created
the flv files using the video import wizard. The client however
wanted us not to include the audio as is was really just background
factory noise. During the video import steps - Encoding, I selected
'Show Advanced Settings' and unticked 'Encode Audio'
Now however the video doesn't import at all and an empty
SWF/flv file is produced. Am I doing something incorrectly or is
there a better way to 'remove' the audio?
Any advice greatly appreciated

If it's not very bad you should be able to fix it using the Power Line Hum <Analysis Type in the Analysis Tab

There are constant audio advertisements and it is really irritating.

We do need a bit more information than that.
If you hear them no matter what website you're on, check if you have been infected with adware.

Audio hum removal

Anyone know how to get rid of a hum from a sound board recording of a wedding. The speaker sounds fine but there is a constant hum running through in the background. Tried hum remover but can't understand how that works.

You're going to need Sound Soap, hopefully its 'learn noise' function can reduce the hum to an acceptable level. Nothing will totally eliminate it. The hum you got from the sound board randomly crosses a broad range of frequencies.

If you have Soundtrack....
In FCP select your audio track while holding down the control key-send to-soundtrack audio file project. A save window will open asking where to save the file, pick a folder or create one for these files and hit -save-, Soundtrack will open- find a part of your audio without talking,(room tone if you have it) click and drag in the grid and select just that noise, go up to Process-set noise print.
Then go to Process-reduce noise, a new menu will open with sliders. push the play button so you can hear your noise and move the top slider until the noise is almost gone. (if you go to far the vocals will start to sound very digital) play with the other sliders to get the right sound, hit -Apply. Make sure you save. Good luck

Had this happen to me after a recent update, was super annoying. To turn off, go to Settings > AirPlay > Conference Room Display > Off.

Get rid of the warnings prior to stretching audio in Arrange

Does anyone know how to get rid of the warnings prior to stretching audio in Arrange?
In the demonstration here on Apples own website, workflow is sped up by the fact that you don't have to hit ok twice before the edit is executed. I have tried to disable warnings etc, but it still does it.

Incidently, I clearing popup warnings using the V-Pots on the Mackie Control doesn't work anymore either. Can anyone confirm this?
This appears to be yet another newly introduced controller bug... Don't even get me started on trying to use a Frontier Tranzport with version 8.

No, the inly option is to uncheck 'Warning before processing function by key command', which doesn't change the situation.

Your index rebuild attempt obviously hit a bug. There is a similar bug for older versions of Oracle when attempting to (re-)build an unique index online and the recursive sql generated for checking the uniqueness is malformed.
Which version of Oracle is this database?
Manually manipulating the remaining objects is dangerous and can lead to ORA-600 errors when accessing the base object. If you run into this ORA-600 errors you need to bounce the database instance, that should fix the issue.
The remaining objects are supposed to be cleaned up by the SMON background process but it can take him a long time in busy systems(up to two days says Oracle). As long as there are ongoing transactions on the object the clean up procedure might not be able to complete and will attempt to re-try depending on Oracle version.
In more recent releases of Oracle (at least 10.2.0.1 and later) there should be a DBMS_REPAIR package that offers a function ONLINE_INDEX_CLEAN that manually invokes the cleanup procedure that SMON should be doing anyway, but it still may not be able to do the clean up due to concurrent DML activities.
If DBMS_REPAIR is not available in your database you can check for the installation script in the following location, but in older releases it does not contain the ONLINE_INDEX_CLEAN function. I'm not sure if this is available as backport to previous releases resp. as one-off patch:

When opening Firefox there is an audio set of advertisements; I can't find where to stop the ad; I've downloaded. How do I get rid of this?

Opening Firefox immediately turns on an audio that contains a series of ads. I have removed the version on my computer and downloaded Firefox 5. It still happens. How did I get rid of the vocal advertisement? It does not happen when I use Safari.

Is that coming from your homepage? Have you tried resetting your homepage to see if those ads don't play? Or tried using about:blank as your homepage?

Can't get rid of original Audio

I'm overwriting a clip on the timeline with a clip from the events, but I can't get rid of the audio from the timeline clip. What's up? Even when I cut the clip I want to replace, its audio remains.

I did not separate it.
What do you mean by "edit style"? Can't seem to find a way to adjust that.
It seems that whatever I do, the original audio stays. I tried to overwrite, and I tried to completely cut out the original audio... I'm trying to cut in a close-up over a medium shot and want to use the dialogue from the close-up.
