Getting rid of icloud on computer

I bought icloud for my computer and iphone 5 and I would like to have icloud removed so that my mac computer and iphone are separate and not linked together where they are syncing to each other for every single thing.

iCloud does not sync every single thing between your phone and computer. If you really want to turn off iCloud go to the Preferences App on your computer, select iCloud and sign out.
You might have Wi-Fi sync turned on in iTunes. If you do connect your phone to your computer and start iTunes. Select your phone in iTunes and select the Summary tab. scroll down to find the check box to turn off Wi-Fi syncing.

  • How to get rid of iCloud but save contacts (iPhone4)?

I want to get rid of iCloud for good.  However, on my iPhone 4, if I turn off "contacts" under the iCloud settings, all of my contacts disappear, which makes perfect sense.
So, how do I *save* these contacts, separately from iCloud?
And on a related note, but probably a separate post:  How do I merge these saved iPhone contacts with my Gmail contacts?
    iPhone4
    OS 5.1.1  (I don't have space for OS6)

I you just want to do contacts open settings>icloud and turn contacts off, you will be asked if you want to keep copies on your phone when you do.
Alternatively you can use the delete account button, it will let you know that it is going to delete any icloud related content, after you tap delete you will be asked if you want to keep a copy of your info on your device.

  • HT3819 so we will be getting rid of our old computer so home sharing will maintain our library on new computer/we wont lose any information when i restore my old computer and get rid of it?

soi we are wanting to install itunes on our new computer and move all of our itunes to it. we see the home sharing is this the best way? once we move the itunes under home sharing can we get rid of the original computer we had itunes on. it is a old desk top and we no longer want it.. just want to make sure we dont loose anything once we home share to a new computer..

Just my personal opinion, but using home sharing to transfer content is extremely unintelligent.
Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer or use the Windows File transfer utility to move all your content from the old computer to the new computer.

  • How do I get rid of iCloud on my Windows computer?

So I downloaded the new version of iTunes onto my Windows P.C. After about a month of use, some crappy thing called iCloud mysteriously entered my computer.  I did not download it, nor did any of my family.  It was not there one day and the next it was.  iCloud stole all of my iTunes music, deleted the stuff not from the iTunes Store and then decided it would engrain itself into my computer so now I can't get rid of it.  I already looked at programs and it is not in there so I can't delete it from my computer.  I went to the iCloud website and looked around there and I couldn't even find my music there, let alone delete the dang thing.  iCloud also deletes the music I manually download from CD's; I download the music, it is in iTunes, then I exit iTunes and get back in and that music is gone.  This is very, very frustrating and strange.  Anybody got any answers?
                                                                                                                   Thanks!  JG14

Gotcha..on a few things. I get that it has to be downloaded (you would think). I didnt download it, but I did so click on the newer version of the itunes. I did have all my music backed up..and put it back rightly so where it belonged in itunes, when I reset. I went to iCloud and checked to see if I could actually sign in..nothing. What the? I do have an apple id account,(dont know if that matters), so Im assuming that I dont have an account with iCloud, yet there was this little cloud in front of all my music. Just within the last couple of weeks.  When I tryed to play a song, it would say downloading from store. When I plugged in my ipod to sync, it would ask me to reset. Along with my son's ipod. GRRR. I would have to click on any and every single one I wanted, to get it on to the ipod. Imported cd's disappeared completely when I logged out, along with any playlist I made..just like what happed with our friend JG14.  Very confusing ****. I agree with you, that it has to be some sort of download or sign in or something, but this really had me stumped too. I admit that things pop up, you might accidently click n them, with Itunes or whatever one gets for their device, but this was unreal. In my research, Ive discovered that there are quite a few complaints for this iCloud business, if your not connected to internet, you cant play your stuff. I know you dont have to pay again, but thats still a pain. Its easy to disable on a phone (apparantly). But really Csound1, to disable iCloud and risk losing what you ALREADY had?.. I already had all my stuff, before that unfriendly little cloud. maybe, Ive become electronically spoiled, I dont like having to re-download everytime. Yuck and Ick. Thanks for answering me btw.

  • Getting rid of icloud music (not just hiding it)

so, I just bought a new car with Bluetooth music capabilities. I was very excited to have a small selection of music to be able to select from, and I actually added music to my phone for the first time. My issue, is that on the car's screen, I am seeing all the music I had purchased from icloud previously. I would like to remove these, but I cannot figure out how. These songs showing up are not on my phone, and are not on my itunes library.
    what I have tried:
i have done everything I can to hide t he music. I've switched the selection on iTunes and AppStore to not show all music. When I look at my library on the phone, it only has what I had added. The things NOT on the phone are still showing in my car.
i went onto iTunes on my computer, and clicked on the little x to hide all the things that had been purchased. This works on the iTunes Store, but the items still appear when pairing the phone to the car.
the one thing I haven't done yet is sign out from iTunes on the phone, which I have read works. I feel there should be a better way to do it though. it seems this would only be a temporary solution, because as soon as I sign in again, the music would come back.
If anyone has a way to get rid of this music, it would be very much appreciated.

I don't claim bigger insight into how apples servers work but if I were to make iCloud music then rather then having a copy of each music number to give people who buy it and then store the very same data for every single one of users who bought it then I would keep the data 1 place and handle iCloud music streaming by controlling who could access the 1 place the music file was stored if that was the case then if you deleted it it would be gone for everybody forever

  • Getting rid of iCloud account.

When I updated my iPhone to IOS 6.1 it wouldn't let me use my phone without signing up for an iCloud account. How can I get rid of my account since I never wanted one in the first place?

If you have 2 accounts in AB (iCloud and On My Mac) stop looking at both of them simultaneously.

  • Get rid of iCloud backup message

Any advice for getting rid of the iCloud Backup message on an iPad?  It will not let me get to the settings to correct and it will not let me power off the device.

If you're having this problem, reset your device by holding the on/off and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo (if the off slider appears first, ignore it), then release.
