Getting Rid of Music Folders

Hi, this is my first post on here so i'll try to make it as clear as possible.
I just reformatted my computer and installed itunes soon after. I had copied my previous Itunes music folder before i reformatted so i could just place it back inside the itunes folder, which worked fine.
However, when i opened up itunes for the first time, it imported all those songs PLUS another music folder on a separate hard drive. So now i have about 1500 duplicate songs and i dont feel like going through them all and deleting them manually.
So i was wondering if there was a way to just have itunes stop detecting certain folders that you dont want songs imported from.

Hello, Welcome to Apple Discussions.
When you launched iTunes did all these songs add into iTunes after the setup Wizard? The setup Wizard had an option to search for MP3 audio files and it will scan all connected drives for audio content.
If you still have this content backed up. What you can do is go into iTunes, Delete all the songs, And then only add the folder you want back into it.

-File - Add Folder to Library - Browse to your music folder you want iTunes to scan and it will re-add the music back in from just that folder.
Otherwise you can delete them all manually via the Show Duplicates.

How to get rid of the Folders which hold the attachements

Before upgrading to Maverick I had a folder called Mail Attachements where all my attachements went in. When looking for an attachement it was very easy to look for it as I could organise it alphabetically or by date. Now eacht attachement is in a folder named with a combination of Letters and Numbers and I have to open every folder to find my attachment or transfer it into the folder which is so time consuming. thanks. somehow after restoring it, ipod on my phone had another option to download them onto my phone (even though they would play so no idea) but then it allowed me to swipe the songs to delete them so they are finally gone from my phone!!!

Getting rid of music on my iPad

I want to get rid of all my music on my iPad? It takes up almost all the memory so I can't watch videos or anything. Since the music is supposed to be "in the cloud" there does not seem to be any reason to have it local. I never listen to it on the iPad anyhow. With our new iPhone we did not download music and can play music from the cloud just fine. Lots of memory available.

Can't get rid of music videos in music section

Well, frankly, I know this is possible, because I did it on my other account, but I forgot how. Basically, when I put any videos into the designated Music Videos section in iTunes, it also automatically puts a file into the Music section. How do I get rid of that?

Get Info on the music video, go to the Options tab, and set the Media Kind to be something other than Music Video. I use Movies for mine.

Can't get rid of Music

I have the Concerto for Piano and Orchestra by the Koln chamber orchestra on my Ipad Air ... and I can't figure out how to get rid of it. I didn't download it, it just seems to have come with my Ipad ... and it doesnt show up in my Itunes library. Any thoughts on how it got there, or how I can get rid it ot?

Specifically -
Tap the Music app.
Tap the Songs category.
Swipe left over the song you want to delete.
Tap Delete.

How to get rid of old folders from Network window?

I'm not sure if this is a network question or a Finder question ...
In my Network window are a bunch of old folders, left over from a couple of MS Windows machines that I touched at some point but will never meet again. I can't delete them. Their permissions are set to read-only. I tried to give myself delete permissions with chmod but was told it was a read-only file system. So how do I get rid of these old items?

I have more information which my be helpful. I think the directories which are created in /Network are in part originated from a list of previous workgroups.
Open Directory Access, authenticate, then select SMB/CIFS and click Configure... . The top menu displays a list of workgroups. What I seem to get is a list of all the workgroups I've ever been connected to and this list largely corresponds with the directories created in /Network. Sadly, you can't delete these workgroups from Directory Access.
More intriguingly, the directories go away when I'm not connected to a network so somewhere in the system there is a list of workgroups stored away. The only problem is where? I heven't been able to determine this yet.
Also, I think workgroups and domains may be interchangeable here.

How to get rid of Music from iPhone 5S

I have the iPhone 5S and ios 7.1.2. I do not keep any music on my phone, none at all. Yet, when I open the Control Center, there's a song and music controls where the old volume control used to be. When I go into the Music App, there are 7 songs that I did not put on the phone. AAMOF, I don't even have some of those songs in iTunes (a couple of them I have in iTunes). Where did this music come from? I cannot find any way to delete these songs from my phone.
When I go into the Control Center out of habit to change the iPhone's volume, it starts playing the song that's there. I don't want this music thing on my phone, I want the volume slider thing back. What can I do? How do I get rid of those 7 songs?
Oh, and in Settings/Music, I have "Show All Music" turned off.

Thanks for your reply. Nothing happens when I swipe to the left. When I swipe to the right, the song opens and starts playing. Same result whether I swipe the songs while they are in the list, or when I open the song first.
What else can I do?

Is there a way to get rid of Music Videos from playing in iPod?

I have over 51 music videos on my iPad, and I really wish they wouldn't play when I shuffle my music. Is there a way to make them stop shuffling - without getting rid of them?

By reading the iPad Users Guide there should be two ways. One is to, on your computer, move the Music Videos to the movies part of your library. The other way is to make a play list that excludes the Music Video and only shuffle that playlist. Regarding the latter, the USers Guide says:
Shuffle the tracks in any playlist, album, or other
list of songs
From the Now Playing screen, tap the album art
to show the song controls onscreen. Tap (this is an icon that looks like a black background with three horizontal black lines) at the
bottom of the screen, then tap Shuffle at the
top of the list of songs.
Whether or not iPad is set to shuffle, if you tap
Shuffle at the top of a list of songs, iPad plays the
songs from that list in random order.

How to get rid of unwanted folders?

On the iCloud Drive i have several App-folders i don't want. One for Scripteditor, one for Preview, iMovie etc.
I dont´t want them and i don´t need them. A quick look in the library showed only the folders for personal stuff, and the iWork apps. Has anyone an idea how to get rid of them?

Getting rid of burn folders in the Places sidebar

A few weeks ago I was burning some CDs. When I was done I ended up with two burn folder icons both named "Untitled CD" in my Places sidebar. These folders no longer exist but I cannot seem to remove them from the sidebar.
I went into X11/Terminal and tried using both find and ls -R -l | grep "Untitled" and found nothing.
Suggestions on how to remove these icons?

Getting rid of music redundancies

When I imported all music files from various external drives into my new macbook pro, the result (due, I'm afraid, to a complete lack of organization on my part), was that almost every song has at least one copy, many have several. Is there a simple way to delete the redundancies, so that I have just one copy of each song? I'm trying to avoid going through the thousands of songs one by one and deleting by hand.
Any help would be most appreciated, thank you!

Various utilities for doing this, including Dupin (see Dougscripts web site).
Be careful or you may end up deleting non-duplicates. Some albums have two tracks with same name (e.g., Neil Young's Freedom with 2 x Rockin' In The Free World) the only way to be sure is to manually check.

How to get rid of music on lock screen

On my lock screen the music keeps coming up instead of the clock. I have tried to double tab of the home button. It goes away but then the next time my phone is on lock again it is back to the music. Any way to keep the clock showing up?

Sounds like a key on the keyboard is stuck down. Does it disappear if you disconnect the keyboard?

Steve, that changed between Leopard and Snow Leopard. The older cat doesn't require a command key, the new one does.
(It's one of those fickle random changes that keep me awake at nite.)
