Getting Rid of Older Versions
Although I have installed Reader v8 and now v9 over the original v5 on my laptop, if I click on a PDF file link I still get the v5 logo page flash up on my screen. It then disappears of course, but then after a while the message "Could not find Acrobat External Window Handler" appears and the whole thing hangs. Somehow, a bit of v5 is still lurking and takes precedence over the newer one. How can I identify it and winkle it out? AR v9 works fine in itself.

the other version let me access my email on the homepage now i have to go to bookmarks...how do i get rid of this version???!!!
That sounds like the difference between the new Firefox home page '''about:home''' and the previous Google Search page which has '''GMail''' at the top if you used GMail.
You can change your home page so that it points to what you had before, which It would be something like:
* http://www.google.com/firefox?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official
Note on Google pages
* They won't show GMail at the top until you have gone to GMail
Directions to '''reset your home page''':
* http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How to set the home page
More on Search and on Keyword Shortcuts
* [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/search.htm Search and Substitution Shortcuts especially for Firefox users]
* [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/kws.htm Firefox Keyword Shortcuts]
But I don't really understand why you or anyone else would want to use such a page for a home page, it is redundant. You have as many search engines as you want in the search bar, the default search is Google.
You can invoke '''GMail''', any search, any bookmark, any bookmarklet with a [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/kws.htm keyword shortcut] .
'''You're not stuck with how the toolbars have been changed''' in Firefox 4.0, '''this is Firefox''', you can '''customize''' it. That is why Firefox became so popular, you can customize it how you want it with Customize Toolbars, Extensions, Themes, Styles.
You can make '''Firefox 4.0.1''' look like '''Firefox 3.6.17''', see numbered items '''1-10''' in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 look like 3.6)] -
while trying to install latest itunes version i get this message "Older version of Bonjour can not be removed" and the download gets interrupted and doesnt finish. Can someone help?????
(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -
My itunes crashed and I uninstalled all apple/itunes products (I thought) and tried a fresh install. When I install I get the message "older version of bonjour cannot be removed" or "bonjour.msi" not available. How do I reinstall itunes from here?
When I install I get the message "older version of bonjour cannot be removed" or "bonjour.msi" not available.
Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -
I feel really dumb as I do not have a backup of the older versions and I thought, that Apple might only add some bug fixes or style changes to the new versions, but the way it functions right now makes it useless to me... No I would like to know If I can get back the older version somehow.
Thanks in advanceYou can have the iWork '09 apps be the default but still have the new apps installed. After I installed the new iWork updates I created a folder on an external drive & named it "other applications." I then moved the new iWork apps to this folder. I have icons for two versions of Pages & Numbers (I rarely use Keynote) in my Dock. Even with two versions of Pages running, double-clicking an existing file opens in Pages 4.3.

How to get rid of new version itunes and go back to older version
I DO NOT LIKE THE NEW VERSION OF ITUNES
HOW DO I GET RID OF OT AND GO BACK TO OLDER VERSIONYou can get closer to the old look with ctrl-b to turn on the menu bar and ctrl-s to turn on the sidebar, then select Artists from the selection of views across the top.
If you still want to roll back to iTunes 10.7 first download a copy of the installer from here, uninstall iTunes and suppporting software, i.e. Apple Application Support & Apple Mobile Device Support. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.

How can I get rid of outdated versions of Flash?
Hi. I'm new to the Adobe forums and I need help with Flash
Player.
On a friend's recommendation, I ran my system through Secunia
Software Inspector. It found that my Adobe Flash Player was
outdated and that I have five outdated versions of Macromedia Flash
on my system in seven different locations.
I have updated my Adobe Flash Player, and that's fine now,
but the installation failed to get rid of the old versions of
Macromedia Flash. The Secunia writeup even hinted this might be a
problem, and suggesting I go to "the vendor" (Adobe) to find out
how to solve the problem. Here's what it said:
"NOTE: When updating Flash Player, older versions are not
always automatically removed from your system. If older versions
were detected that you believe should not be present, then please
contact the vendor regarding how to remove them from your system."
These Macromedia files don't show up in my Control Panel >
Add/Remove facility. They don't even show up if I Search for
Macromedia. I did copy down the names of the files where Secunia
says they are found:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Macromed\Flash\swflash.ocx (version
4.0.7.0)
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Macromed\Flash\Flash.ocx (version
7.0.19.0)
C:\i386\swflash.ocx (version 4.0.7.0)
C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\Flasha.ocx (version
6.0.80.0)
C:\Program Files\EarthLink Setup\Windows\access\program
files\EarthLink TotalAccess\Flash.ocx ( version 6.0.79.0)
C:\i386\Flash.ocx (version 7.0.19.0)
C:\i386\NPSWF32.dll (version 8.0.24.0)
Can anyone suggest a solution? I am not at all adept at
computers (for all I know, even asking this question gives me
away), so I may need extra-simple language. But apparently, talking
to people who know Adobe is the only way I can find myself a
solution.
Many thanks.
newbuilderHi,
You may already know this, but have you checked your folder
options under the tools menu in Windows explorer?, not your browser
Internet explorer. Click folder options, click on the view tab,
click on show hidden files and folders and you can deselect hide
protected system files and folders. Hit apply and Ok. Do another
search, type in some of these file names or their extensions,
Ex.(*.ocx), and the files should come up, oh I almost forgot, down
at the bottom of the search page there are options, choose to
search for hidden files or system files, then do your search again.
Secunia says in order to disable the prior versions to delete
certain files, but it doesn't look like one can remove all the
entries and files from ones registry or hard drive, it looks like
they will always remain on your pc, but the previous flash player
versions should be disabled. When you find and remove these files,
I recommend you go back to the folder options in windows explorer
and select hide protected system files and folders. Just so you
don't accidentally delete these important files, unless you know
what your are doing, if you do, your computer will be messed up
royally. Also, it may be a good idea to also select hide hidden
files and folders. It depends on your knowledge of the pc.
Good Luck! I hope this helped you. -
my payroll department uses eSAP payroll program. It is NOT compatible with your new version...6.0. I need your older version 1.5 so i can access my payroll records. I am currently being forced to use Internet Explorer and I absolutely HATE that software.
please help !!! How do I get the older version? Version 1.5 - thank you.I would hope the problem is that Firefox 5 is not compatible with some of McAfee's additional add-ons. It will be rather worrying if it has a problem with the McAfee security programs themselves. Please state exactly which software and version you are having problems with.
There are known issues with McAfee's Site Advisor [/questions/839953#answer-205178] but it is hoped McAfee will solve that in a few weeks. -
I use Vista 64 bit. Was fine with older Version of Firefox (3.6, I believe). Upgraded to Ver. 4. Couldn't access extensive bookmarks file or bookmarks toolbar. Tried all the Firefox help recs and they didn't work. Clicking the top button would give list of toolbars but when I tried to move to bookmarks toolbar the menu changed. Tried going thru tools and options and that didn't work. So decided to use System Restore to get old Firefox version back. Icons remained but program wouldn't open. Tried many ways, including start menu. Old version is still on program control file but only option is to uninstall. So went back to System Restore to get Vers. 4 back and it's not there. What to do?? I can use Google Chrome or Internet Explorer but I want all my 100's of bookmarks back. Thank you.

Walk us through what happened with CleanUp, Michelle. In particular, was there no entry for QuickTime in the list of programs in CleanUp? -
How do I get back my older version of Firefox? The new version sux.
I loved the older version of Firefox. I also had a Yahoo toolbar, a MyYearbook tool bar and a Stumble Upon extension. When I "upgraded" to the new 4.0 Beta version, all of those disappeared.
I got a notice that said the new version of Firefox is not compatible.
If it's not compatible, then I don't want it, but I seem to be stuck with it. How do I get my older version back again??If you resaved the file and changed its name it is wherever you saved it to.
If you changed the name of the open file then that is your only copy.
You can go back to previous versions by various methods. In Pages 5 it is:
Menu > File > Revert

Cannot get rid of trial version on desktop, whereas it works perfectly on laptop.
I have a problem getting rid of the "Your trial has expired." error. On my desktop, I've already ran out the trial version, when I've been on the year-long subscription to CC for about 3 months now. On my laptop, I have no problems with any sort of trial version popping up. I installed CC on my laptop about a month ago, and has been working fine.
I have:
tired uninstalling everything CC related (and reinstalled Photoshop CC about 3 times today)
cleared any cache that I could (including Adobe's clear cache download
logged out and tried it offline
tried to register the product from my laptop
anything I could find on the forums
I checked the hosts file and tried to edit it, but it's a read-only file (I do have admin rights).
What else is there for me to do to get Photoshop CC to work without reminding me about the trial verison on my desktop?

How to get rid of webutil version info?
I created a form to test reading and writing files on the client using webutil. (forms 11.1.1.4) which is something I need for my
forms6i -- forms11 conversion.
But it has an issue which is when the form starts it prints out a screen with webutil version info on it. (Webutil Information) .
I see this stuff is on the webutil_canvas. That's interesting but I don't need that in the form. That would confuse the users.
Unfortunately if I open this canvas I get:
"Frm-13008 Cannot find javabean with name oracle.forms.webutil.ole.Olefunctions"
oh oh. That doesn't sound good...
but anyway how do I best get rid of it showing this screen?
I thought I was following instructions correctly for subclassing the object library in my test form. (famous last words.)Oh never mind I found it.
It does not work to change the webutil_canvas to NOT raise_on_entry. But it does work to put a block before the webutil block.
It seems that if webutil is the first block it has the ability to raise that canvas no matter what but I don't know how it does it.
