Getting rid of stocks in menu???

Hi there,
Is there any way of getting rid of the stocks button on the main menu of an iphone as I am never ever going to use this?
Tom

Not at the moment. I would assume that once Feb rolls around and developers start building widgets for the iPhone, there will be an option to hide widgets, just like on the Mac desktop. But it's just an assumption.

  • How do I get rid of the stupid menu bar on my 2nd display?

I do not want my menu bar to display on my 2nd monitor. The fact that apple decided that it would be okay to reduce my usable space on my 2nd screen infuriates me. How do I revert this back to how it was previously? I don't want the menu bar (or the dock) on the 2nd screen, at all.
I didn't see any settings to get rid of it, so I assume there is a defaults write to get rid of it..
When I "drag the menu bar" to get rid of it, via the settings, nothing happens. It is still there, except now it is greyed (and still useless). And it still takes up the space and makes the 2nd screen less useful.
I want it to behave like it did previously: the 2nd monitor has no menu bar that blocks usage, and is used as a place where I drag extra windows.
Any help? This is /really/ annoying and I honestly regret upgrading.
    Thanks
    - Joey

If you do not want to utilize the new full screen funciton independently (i.e.  a full screen app on monitor one & a separate full screen app on monitor 2) go to System Prefs ->Mission Control -> Uncheck the box 'Displays have separate Spaces'.  This will remove the dock & menu bar from your 2nd monitor.  Unfortunately, until there is an update, you have to choose between the two options.

  • How can you get rid of icons in menu bar?

I recently took my MacBook to the local store to have it cleared and restored back to factory settings. I have the OS X Mountain Lion program installed. I set up two accounts (Admin account and second one to use). When I turned my computer off and back on again, I've noticed a Guest account. When I went into my System Preferences to get rid of it, I've noticed that it's greyed out (so I can't delete it). Another issue I'm having is a symbol I'm seeing up top in my menu bar (<--->. Does anyone know what this means and how I can go about getting rid of it?

In the area where it allows you to add or delete   the delete symbol is greyed (shaded) out where I don't have that option to delete the "guest" account. And the ethernet symbol I'm seeing in the right hand corner of my screen is still there after deleting it in the System Preference/Network section.

  • How to get rid of right click menu?

I like to mouse over a hyperlink in a web page and select "open in a new tab". The right click menu jumps in the way. I don't like or use the right click menu. How do I stop it from stopping me? As a side note, the reason I like "open in a new tab" is that some websites will open on the same page and in some events the back button will not return you to that page. I find the new tab very helpful and the right click menu a pain in the ---.
    Win 8.1
    Firefox - newest
Alternatively, is there a way to add "open in a new tab" to the menu that gets in the way?
I was trying to open "Sign Up/Sign In" in a new tab.
Completely irrelevant to my question, but since you see my tabs, I was watching Jon Stewart on Hulu. He was raving about the Katy Perry Superbowl show. I wanted to see what he was talking about. I don't give a flying crap in the rain about the Stupor Bowl.

The right-click menu is context-sensitive. When you right-click a link, you should have the option to open in a new tab, new window, or new private window. (In a private window, "new window" is not displayed.) The menu in your screen shot would normally appear if you clicked a blank area of the page without a link directly under the mouse pointer.
I can't think of any built-in way to get the Open in New Tab command just mousing over a hyperlink. Do you have an add-on that does that automatically for you? If so, I wonder whether it might need an update?

  • HELP!  Can't get rid of blue apple menu

I got a new iMac for Christmas and I was trying to move bookmarks and such from Firefox to the new computer. I was following instructions through them using terminal. Now, I have this blue apple heading up the apple menu instead of the normal gray/black one and my finder isn't the same. I tried to start mail after a restart and it acts as though its the first time I had ever used it. Please someone help. I have tried to restart. But still the blue apple at the apple menu.
Please note - this is all done on my old PowerMac G4 Running OSX 10.4.11 not my new iMac. But I need to get more stuff off of it. And, in case you were wondering - It never did work to get my stuff from FireFox either. Going about it a different way - with an add-on. But really need to get my Mac back.
Also in the terminal window I am looking at the following:
    [G4:~] tina%
    Thanks in advance

OK - Here goes. I was trying to figure out how to transfer all my bookmarks, passwords, etc. from Firefox to my new iMac, as I use Firefox as my main browser. When doing the research, I came across these instructions.
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferringdata_to_a_new_profile_-Firefox
In these instructions it said I have to create an new profile to copy to in doing this I have to open the Profile Manager. Which the instructions are here.
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/ProfileManager#Accessing_the_ProfileManager
Basically on that page it tells me to quit Firefox, go to Terminal and type in
    /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -profilemanager
Which I did and nothing happened. It goes on to tell you that if it doesn't work then type it in without -bin. Which I did.
    /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox -profilemanager
Again - Nothing happened. Being uncomfortable with Terminal (because I had never used it before) I said screw it and went to the File menu and chose Quit.
Well, when I started Terminal my Apple heading up the Apple menu turned blue exactly like the picture you sent me. What to do? In my mind a restart fixes everything. Not so. Did a restart and I still have the blue apple. In addition to that, my Desktop is different. Like my desktop pictures are not showing (they are all Pepsi) and it has gone back to a default one, my dock must be the default one as it does not have the applications I added to it (Firefox, Preview, Quicken, etc.) it is also anchored at the bottom of the screen, whereas mine was hidden on the right. It doesn't announce the time anymore, etc. I think you get the idea. The files on my desktop (documents, folders, etc) are there but when I tried to start Mail to check it - It acted as if it was the first time I ever started Mail - no mailboxes, and was starting to take me through the set up procedure. So I quit that and started searching online for how to get out of this terminal mess. I went back to terminal and tried entering 'exit' and it closed a window but nothing else. Then I had another thought - ONCE IN A WHILE when I restart my computer it goes to this black and white screen and says "Welcome to Darwin etc..." and tells me if I want to start up to enter 'mac-boot' or 'shut-down'. So I typed in mac-boot and it said command not found.
So, here I sit. My old computer hasn't been touched since then. I am doing all this on my new one. I don't even know if I can get online. I'm afraid to touch it. So- I can't really do a screen image. So, besides for my funky desktop that I have already told you about I am looking at a terminal window hat has "Terminal - tsch - 80x24" as the heading of the window.
    Inside the window it says:
Last login: Wed Dec 30 07:58:20 on ttyp1
    Welcome to Darwin!
    [G4:~] tina% mac-boot
    tsch: mac-boot: Command not found.
(On a strange note I wanted to mention that there are brackets around G4:~, but for whatever reason I noticed they did not show up on the original post I made here on the discussions, and I wanted to mention in in case they don't again).
As for your other questions: The machines are connected wirelessly. As I planned on moving most of my stuff via an external MyBook I use. At this point I have only moved my iPhoto Library this way. Then I stared with Firefox stuff. So my iMac is untouched by this Firefox nonsense. I will (hopefully) be able to get on my original FireFox account from my G4 and use an XMarks add-on (I wish I had found before all this) to sync my bookmarks and passwords to my new computer.
I have not used the disk utility yet- as you mentioned. I am just getting back at this this morning. I also have not did the list of commands you gave me. Call me a little gun shy - but do I type it in exactly as you have it written or do I not add the numbers and those are just there as steps for me to follow? Sorry. I am afraid to touch this machine.
One last note. My G4 has been on all night. I checked the display this morning and it hasn't changed and it has now going to sleep after cycling a few times. I am going to assume this is a default setting.
Thank you so much for your help on this. I am so confused. I had no idea that Terminal could cause such a ruckus. I guess I should have taken a clue from it's name. The people from Firefox act like it's normal operating procedure and no big deal to use this program. Lesson learned. Thank you again..I look forward to your next reply.

  • How do I get rid of the MP3tube menu bar/program that has shown up on my computer ?

Every time I open Firefox the menu bar for MP3TUBE comes up at the bottom menu bar. it opens the program, not AOL, the program that I want.
In the search box of MP3TUBE, it has "powered by yahoo".

  • Can't get rid of stock photo when using iWeb but publishing to non-MobileMe

On one of my pages I have a vertical column of photos with my photos from iPhoto that I dragged and dropped into iWeb. The page was originally based on an iWeb template, though I cannot remember which one.
The problem I am having is that the stock photo sometimes shows up when I publish the website - even though I have dropped a photo in the space, saved it and re-published it. I have gone into the files and deleted the stock photo and I even went to my webhost and deleted the stupid thing there as well. Regardless, the #*!!%@ thing keeps showing up.
I have reloaded the page to my webhost multiple times. I had the same problem a day or two ago and eventually the stock photo stopped showing up, but I have no idea what kind of hocus pocus made it finally disappear and the correct photo show in its place.
    Any ideas?
    thanks,
    roxpat

It is apparently an iWeb issue. In the template that I used, I guess some aspects are just "in there" and are not able to be removed.
I ultimately removed all of the photos from the page since they had originally started as "drops" into the placeholders and put my photos in manually (not a big deal, of course). I saved it and "published it" to the folder. . .and there was that stupid photo again. I yanked the photo and put it in the trash and went to my webhost and removed the same photo. . .and finally the stock photo went away.
Every time I update the site (or those pages, anyway), I have to go in and remove that #%^#^& photo.
The moral of the story is that I need to just rebuild the page from scratch - without a template. It shouldn't be too hard, but it's more effort than I want to exert at this point

  • How to get rid of new menu button on far right side of toolbar

Honestly, I don't know why developers can't offer us new features which we can use or not use, by choice. Instead, things are forced upon us.
Would someone please tell me how to get rid of the new menu button on the right side of the toolbar?
There doesn't seem to be any option to remove it via the Customize toolbars window.
    Thank you very much.

    Hello brynn2,
First of all thank you for understanding us and sorry for the delay, it has really been a busy week for all of us out here.
The interface you see in Firefox 29 is a major re-design (first one since Firefox 4) of Firefox's user interface called "Australis."
You can use Classic Theme Restorer to get the previous look back. https://addons.mozilla.org/hu/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/

  • Get rid of that damn context menu!

I'm using flex in an embedded browser within a win32
application. I need to use my own context menu and the existing one
that adobe provides has a settings option that darkens the client
area and invalidates my transparency color (i.e. the mask color of
custom shaped flex UI suddenly appears). How do I eliminate the
adobe context menu? I tried the swRemote="swContextMenu='false'"
option but it had no impact. My .swf files are used locally if that
    matters.

Thanks for your replies. I have been able to get rid of alot
    of menu items via
    Application.application.contextMenu.hideBuiltInItems() and setting
menu="false" in the html starter document. 'Settings' (the most
problematic menu-item) remains. Really, any 'enforced' menu option
should not changed the visual state of the UI... and that's whats
    killing me.
Maybe Adobe can view and respond to this issue. The only
other thing I can think of is introducing a Win32 hook to hijack
all mouse messages before the flex hWnd gets them and handle
right-mouse-clicks from there (and keep them from going to flex).
It's a horrible solution and really complicates things.

  • Getting rid of LCDproc menu

I just reinstalled LCDproc and it seems to be working properly, BUT
I didn't think to reconfigure it before I rebooted, and now I have an LCDproc MENU screen on my main screen (an LCD, of course) rather than on the LCD display on my Silverstone case.  How do I get rid of the LCDproc menu so I can get to a command line to configure it?  For some reason my SSH connection to that machine is being flaky, so I can't get in that way.

  • Services menu - how can I get rid of it?

The Services menu baffles me -- the menu items are always grayed out for me, so what's the point of it? I understand that a vanishingly few applications such as Safari can take advantage of the menu, but none of the applications I use does. So how can I just get rid of the menu?
    George

    George,
This is from Apple's Help menu and should explain what services are.
Some applications provide “services” that let you use features of that application while working in another application. For example, the Mail service in the Finder opens the Mail application so that you can email a file directly from the Finder without opening the Mail application separately.
    To use an application’s services:
Select what you want to work with (such as a file or some text), and then choose the service you want to use from the application menu.
For example, to email a document on your desktop, select the file you want and then choose Finder > Services > Mail > Send File.
If the service is dimmed, you may have selected something that doesn’t work with that particular service. Try selecting something else and check the menu again.
Publishers have to write their software to take advantage of Services, but many don't.
To answer your question, you cannot get rid of the Services menu item, so just ignore it.
    Keith
