Getting rid of "tall" timeline clips.

I ran into an issue while using FCP today:
As I was attempting to add a cross fade to the end of one of my clips, I misjudged the placement of my fingers and pressed Shift+T instead of Command+T and now the clips in this particular sequence have gotten bigger, but I didn't zoom in, I just made the video and their complimentary audio clips "taller."
So I know what I did, I'm just completely stuck on how to undo it. Can anyone out there assist me? All my other sequences were not affected, fyi.
Thanks,
Danzig

Welcome to the forum Danzigzagz.
Just hit shift-t a few times and you'll get back to what you had.
If you look at the lower left of your timeline and you'll see a box with 4 ascendingly taller rectangles. Hovering over it you'll see the prompt 'Toggle Timeline Track Height / Shift-t' This function makes the height of your track taller/shorter.

    I have iMovie 2011 and I imported PowerPoint slides with a soundtrack. Now I want to delete a small highlighted clip and it won't let me no matter what I do! Rosemary

    First off....do NOT install MacKeeper!  It creates more problems than it prevents, and is a royal pain to get rid of once you realize this.
    What I would do, since it sounds like you don't want to reorganize your email filing by the use of Smart Mailboxes, is to simply use the search box at the top of the Mail window to find only the emails you want to delete....then select them all and delete them.  For example, if you wanted to delete all of the emails from [email protected], you would type that into your search box, which will filter your inbox to only show you emails from [email protected]  Then Select All, and delete them.  You haven't deleted any others....only those from that person.
    Then clear the search box to see the rest of your emails again.
    Repeat this process to delete emails from other senders you no longer need.
    (Once you've selected them all, by the way, you can control-click one if you need to save it).

  • How to get rid of stray iPhoto clip-iMove 8

    I'm building an iMovie using a series of photos from iPhoto. When test playing, I notice strange short photo clips which do not show up in the work area. Even worst, I can't delete these short photo duplicates without deleting the actual photo I want to use. I've even tried deleting the photo I want and the ones around it and tranisitions in the segment, then rebuild that section - only to find the short unwanted photo is back. Any suggestions?

    use:
    addChild(thing);
    thing.width = (500/3)+25;
    thing.x = 225;
    thing.y = 250;
    thing.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,f);
    function f(e:Event):void{
    if (thing.currentFrame >= thing.totalFrames)
        thing.removeEventLisener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,f);
    removeChild(thing);
    thing=null;

  • Premiere Pro keeps shutting down and I can't get rid of video clip from timeline

    Lately, Premiere Pro keeps bringing up a message when I'm working on my project that says "serious error, Adobe Premier Pro needs to shut down". It's happened four times now. I've tried restarting the computer, uninstalling some programs I wasn't using, and even running updates that were needed. Still no luck. Also, in between shutdowns, there's a clip on my timeline that I imported from YouTube, and I can't get rid of it when I click "Cut" or "Clear". Any idea on why these things are happening?

  • How can I get rid of sound at a certain spot in the timeline?

    I have some video shot with my gopro camera, every time I switch hands with it - it makes a noise the mic picks up that I want to get rid of. Can that be done in premiere pro?
    Thanks,
    Rchjr

    RCHjr what Peru Bob is suggesting may benefit from a little more detail.  He is suggesting you find another clip with what is called "room tone" or background sound. If you cut out all of the sound where you handle the camera your movie may sound strange at the point everything is removed.
    Find a part of or a clip where there is consistent background sound  with nothing unusual.  It needs to be a little longer than the section you cut out.  Alt click on the sound part of the clip and drag it somewhere clear on the timeline, this will copy it without the video.
    Listen to it by itself -expand the track and click on the S button at the far left to solo it, make sure it is clean- nothing unusual. This is best done using headphones.
    Place it on an audio track under the clip you cut the sound out of.  You now have many ways to blend them; you can ripple delete, use keyframes or the clip mixer or transitions to blend the two tracks together.
    I do a lot of GoPro pole camera work on moving boats on the ocean, every time the camera body or pole is rotated or touches a boat just what you describe happens.  There are more sophisticated ways to try to fix it in Audition but the clone and blend method should do the trick.  It's also helpful to shoot twenty or thirty seconds of  "room tone" which is asking everyone to be quiet and rolling the camera(or sound recorder) for every unique soundscape.

  • My connected audio only clips moved from below to above the timeline. What happened? How do I get them below the timeline again?

    My connected audio only clips moved from below to above the timeline. What happened? And how do I get them below the timeline again?

    Repeatedly crashes. What I ended up doing was using a backup Final Cut Projects file and jettisoning this one with the glitch. Luckily, nada much lost. I've had a couple of these weird glitches happen in the Timeline, esp. when dealing with compound audio-only clips & some fx's and rather than spending mega time trying to fix the problem, I bail and start again, and try to be more methodical in my approach.

  • I dont know how to get rid of the black bars on the sides of my videos. The original clips dont have them but when i import them to fcp it puts them there

    The original clips dont have them but when i import them to fcp it puts black bars on the sides of my video and i cant get rid of them

    Here's my final (and simple diagnosis) You have 4 x 3 footage that your are trying to screen at 16:9. This won't work.
    Artistically, you have three options:
    1.) Stay with the "black bars." What some of us call "Bat Wings," in the biz.
    2.) Do what some editors do and create a large "fuzzy" background to extend the edges...
    3.) Or transform / crop the image. (Or just use the "fill" option in the "Spatial Transform" section of the inspector
    But... You WILL lose some of the image

  • HT6196 how do I edit  a movie clip to get rid of unwanted parts of a clip

    how do I edit a movie clip in thelatest version of I movie to get rid of unwanted parts of a clip

    You can split a clip into pieces using Quicktime Player.  See:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH5879?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
    for details.
    Second question:
    I don't know what you want to acheive but yhe only way I can think of to move a precise time into a clip is to select it and trim it - whilst trimming the time amount trimmed is displayed.  Stop when you have the right amount then position the playhead there.  You can then 'untrim it' and he playhead will be at the desired spot.

  • Getting rid of "clip" noise

    I've got a bass track I'm editing, but no matter where I cut it at the end, it still has an obvious clip nose like you can tell it was cut. I'd use the volume automation, but it'll change the whole volume of my bass track. So my question is what's the easiest way to get rid of the noise or hide it? Thanks

    The real thing is to find what exactly is causing the issue as opposed to trying to use a "band aid" to fix it.
    It could be a bad cable, some kind of ground loop, a severe input impedance mismatch.
    These kind of audio issues sometimes require some exploration, it could be as simple as a gain staging issue...etc.
    Wish I could be of more help, but not actually having hands on, it's difficult.
    Have you tried a DI to step the impedance down to closer to a mic level?
    It's worth a try if it's an option, as this will greatly change the input level, not volumewise, more of an electrical interface thing.
    I hope some of this might help you...and yes, gating will  change the sustain of everything on the track. It would be most effective during the silent parts.
    Best of luck, I would try other ideas with you if you are willing to wait a little for any reply, as I have been limited on line time. 18 hr days kind if have a way of doing that to you.
    All the best

  • Can't get rid of original Audio

    I'm overwriting a clip on the timeline with a clip from the events, but I can't get rid of the audio from the timeline clip. What's up? Even when I cut the clip I want to replace, its audio remains.

    I did not separate it.
    What do you mean by "edit style"? Can't seem to find a way to adjust that.
    It seems that whatever I do, the original audio stays.  I tried to overwrite, and I tried to completely cut out the original audio... I'm trying to cut in a close-up over a medium shot and want to use the dialogue from the close-up.
    Thanks.

  • Getting rid of gaps in iMovie 09 file import

    When I import a project from DV to iMovie 09, how do I get rid of the gaps put there between clips by iMovie? I don't want any gaps as my DV already has the finished cut of the project.

    I'm having a similar problem. Back in my PC days, I edited an entire project on Pinnacle Studio Ultimate HD. Exported the entire 71 minutes movie back on HDV tape. Now I have my Macbook Pro, and am trying to import the finished product into iMovie so I can tinker a bit with it, and ultimately burn it using iDVD. Yet when I import off my Canon Vixia HV30, all of the clips are completely rearranged with annoying gaps in between where one clip begins and ends. How do I change the settings to simply import the HDV as is? I really don't want to have to drag every clip into my timeline and then rearrange them all into the original order.

  • How to get rid of empty track.

    Ok, another question for you. How do I get rid of empty track? I've got my film and then loads of empty track that I cant get rid of and when I put it into Quicktime it copies all the empty stuff too and it takes twice as long.

    You explained it fine. FCP recognizes the end of your sequence. YOu can't delete the end. If you are getting loads of black at the end of your movie that would suggest that you have a clip somewhere way down the line that you are not seeing. Press shift-z to fit the timeline in the timeline window. Your movie should fill the timeline. If not, look at the end of the timeline and delete any media that you don't want to be included.
