Getting rid of track numbers in iTunes 8

I prefer to keep my music filenames without track numbers, which iTunes 7 let me do (under Edit>Preferences>Advanced>Importing>Create filenames with track number). However, I can't find this feature in iTunes 8. Can anybody tell me how I can do this without disabline the manage my music feature?

Got your email and couldn't clearly see what you were talking about because you reduced the resolution on a busy background. So I went to the iTunes Store to find if there was something similar.
That is the Facebook Pages Manager, and is telling you you have notifications pending in Facebook.
The Pages refers to the "pages" (different views) of content in Facebook, nothing to do with Apple's Pages.

You can't delete the All On My Mac as it is an automatic group to display all of the contacts that are stored "On My Mac." You can delete all of the contacts that are in the ON MY MAC section by selecting All ON My Mac and then selecting all contacts. Press delete and approve the deletion. Then, select each group under ON My Mac and delete those individually.
Then, Make sure iCloud is set as the default account in the General Address Book Preferences.

How do I get rid of the numbers after the URL when I type one in the search field?

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.

Just go to your iTuens preferrences and disable sharing.

Getting rid of week numbers

I installed a program to show the week numbers in iCal.
I don't like it because it also places a bar with the week number across all the week's days.
Now I want to remove it, but can't figure out how.
Any advice?

They shouldn't be too difficult to get rid of. Make
sure you back up your iCal data in case things get
messed up. (in iCal: File > Backup Database...)
(In this I am assuming the events have titles like
'Week 1', 'Week 2' etc.)
In the calendar list (on left side in iCal) uncheck
all calendars apart from the one that has the week
number events (your 'birthday' calendar).
On the lower right of the main iCal window there is a
button with 3 horizontal lines (the search button).
With nothing in the search box, click this button.
The search results pane will appear with all the
events in your 'birthdays' calendar.
You can re-order these by date, title, priority etc.
by clicking the title on the relevant column. Click
the title (or name) column header to order by the
event title.
Now scroll down and find the first event that starts
with 'Week'. Click this event. Scroll down and find
the last event that starts with 'Week'. Shift-Click
this event.
All your events starting with 'Week' should now be
highlighted. Delete these.

HI , I think I may have a tracking device on my ipad, I received what ai thought was an email from my son and clicked on the link - something I dont normally do and now I cant log in to any of my memberships on safari and when I attempted to follow a link from an email from trademe it flashed past a site that said tracking - it was so fast i couldnt see the full name but i think it had ray in it as well, now I cant acess app store update , should I remotely erase my device and re start ? how do i get back in and reset everything is this the best way to get rid of this tracking thing , Im worried that if I erase it I wont be able to get back into it again,

I would go into settings>safari>clear autofill names and passwords, also clear cookies and history first, before resetting anything else. If that doesn't work then go into settings>scroll to the bottom and tap reset, then reset all settings. This will delete passwords, your WiFi settings and any other settings you have that you have to enter.
It is possible, as you have discovered to have what is known as drive by 'viruses' not really a virus but something that redirects your browser to another site with the intention of obtaining your details or causing you to be billed for a service you didn't want it you store credit card or bank details on your device.. Used to happen a lot with **** sites on PC's.
As above, I would delete the email. BUT advise your son that his mail account may be compromised with a bot auto sending emails to all in his contacts list, so he can fix it too.

How to get rid of "Various Artists" on iTunes?

I have a couple soundtracks from films, but all the songs are by the same artist for each soundtrack (Teddy Gieger - The Rocker, Neil Patrick Harris - Dr. Horrible's...), and I'd rather have the artists' names on my iTunes than have all my soundtracks put into one "Various Artists" catagory. I've taken off the "album artist", changed it from "Various Artists" to the name of the artist, changed the genre from "soundtrack", and unchecked "part of a compilation", but when I sync my 4S, it still shows up as "Various Artists". Is there any way to get rid of this?

I had the same problem; it was really annoying. I finally figured out how to fix it though.
Go to the artist "Various Artist" on your ipod. View all the songs and delete them all from your ipod/iphone whatever. You might want to write down which songs are under the "various artist" category so you can remember which ones to add back. Go to the Itunes library and go to the info for each song that you just deleted from your ipod and uncheck "part of a compilation" and where it says "artist album" replace "various artists" with the actual artists name.
When you're finished the various artists category should be gone and all the artists should appear individually.

Can I get rid the newest version of iTunes and use an older version?

I've had nothing but trouble with the newest version of iTunes. I can't listen or watch any music or videos on my laptop, iTues often freezes up, movies are taking 8+ hours to download ?!

I have several devices under my apple id account. 2 iPhones (me and my wife ). 2 iPads also me and my wife and my iMac
The problem is that if somebody calls me for example for face time all the other devices are also ringing, because in face time my phone number is showing and also my wife's phone number. How can I get rid of my phone number on her iphone and ipad and vice versa

That isn't due to not having a phone number on her iPad. You can use FaceTime with any iPad using an email address as the "phone number". And if her iPad isn't a first generation iPad, if she uses the same Apple ID for FaceTime on both her iPhone and iPad, her iPhone number can be used as well (see iOS and OS X: Link your phone number and Apple ID for use with FaceTime and iMessage).
If her iPad is not verifying her Apple ID for FaceTime it's probably because the Apple servers are busy. Keep trying and it should verify. If you continue to have problems with this, look through the troubleshooting steps here: iOS: Troubleshooting FaceTime and iMessage activation.
