Getting rid of ugly background behind rounded input button

I have saved a rounded input button as png8 with alpha transparency. However, as there are different background colors, choosing a matte becomes problematic. It looks decent in IE7, but has an ugly dark squared background in Safari. The easy solution would be to square the button, but it is a design feature, so..... Any ideas? I tried adding a "transparent" to the background in addition to the image, but all that did was get rid of the background image as well...

I see the hard corners in FF (Win), too. It is not as dark as in Safari, though.
That button graphic is small enough to save as a 32bit png. In fact, when I did an export from FireWorks, the 32bit png is 910 bytes - just over half the size of your 8bit file.
[Edit: Deleted graphic. Not my file to post]

  • How to get rid of a background in an image?

    Does anyone know of an easy way to get rid of the background in the attached image and just keep the red print?
    Any ideas appreciated.
    If someone knows of an easy way, I have a much larger version of the image in PNG format.

    Another way to proceede is to convert it to B/W and adjust the conversion for taste. Then clean it up using curves or levels and clip it to a red fill layer. Here is a quick proof of concept. Doing it in sections would produce better  results.  The rectangles are new additions.
    I suspect this trade mark is still in force and owned by Honeywell and should not be used for commercial purposes.

  • Mysterious tool that gets rid of white backgrounds

    Hi, I've been searching the net for an answer to this question...
    At my last place of work I was using CS4 and often utilised an awesome tool in Indesign that effectively got rid of any white parts of an image with just a click. It wasn't permanent, it was more like an effect when the image got blended into whatever was behind it. Whites disapperared completely but other colours remained in various stages of transparency. It worked best for graphic black and white images when you wanted to get rid of a white background of an intricate illustration.
    I didn't use Indesign for a few months and forgot what it was called, and now I use CS5 and can't find it. Please tell me that sounds familiar to someone because I'm starting to think I imagined the whole thing!
    Thanks,
    Jess

    Hi Jess, try going to the effects panel and seeting it to "Multiply".  It is a bit of a mysterious tool, it sometimes works fine, and as you say sometimes doesn't work perfectly but has varying degrees of transparency, which depending on your POV is "working" or not.  I've enjoyed showing many people the seemingly magical effect it has when it does work though!

  • Getting rid of the background

    I have a org chart image with a white background- it was originally created in MS Publisher. I brought it into PS CS4 as a jpeg
    I wanted to cut out the chart and remove the background so I can use over a watermark in a report I'm working on in InDesign. Using the polygon Lasso tool, I traced out the entire image and hit delete. All the background went to gray/white checkerboard indicating a transparent background. Looks great, but when I move it into my InDesign doc. the white background is still there. What am I doing wrong? I have saved it, flattened it (when I flatten it the white comes right back) but to no avail. Please help!
    Rich

    Flattening always gets rid of Transparency.
    Sounds like a ton of work. Believe me, there are much easier ways to remove a Background than using the Polygon Lasso. Look around for some tutorials.

  • Getting rid of black background in iPhoto slideshow converted to .mov

    Hi all!
    I have a desperate friend who created about an hour long slide show in iPhoto using "Vintage Prints" theme --it has a black background with photos getting dropped in.  There are four segments she wants me to edit together for the whole show for her daughter's graduation party. Is there any way to get rid of that black background and replace it with a solid color background or texture?  I have tons of animated textures and backrounds but I can't figuere out how to bring them to the rescue since the .mov is already created......   I thought of keying but 'black' isn't the new chromakey blue or green......  thought of a garbage mask but the shapes of the photos and collages dropping in are not constant....  Ideas?
    I didn't see a way in iPhoto to convert that black background to white or color either.... Did I miss something there?
    Thanks all!

    works like charme here:
    .. ok, needs some tweaking: a luma-key is never working as good as a color-key ... but iPhoto delivers some very solid black, so FCPX' keyer creates an acceptable job (in my humble criteria).
    ok, the fade-out-to-black in the ending of the slideshow theme makes a luma-key impossible!
    keep in mind: the 'key' is more like a 'key-hole' (=as a non-native speaker, this is my mnomic )  - the color, alpha or black gets transparent and allows a look-thru to anything underneath ... that simple.

    you still think in 'tracks' - no need
    Think of 'layers'

  • Getting rid of unwanted background audio

    Hey guys, so recently I recorded some interviews in not the ideal location. As such the audio I have has background noise ranging from a waterfall making noise to small chatter of other people. I have tried to clean up the audio and get rid of the aditional unwanted noise but so far no luck. Either I can't get rid of the noises or it ends up making the person getting interviewed sound bad. The waterfall part is what is really making my audio unusable. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice?

    I agree that Audition is probably the best tool for Audio "noise removal," but this article has a few other options: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2860521#2860521
    "Noise" can be tough, as it can be broad spectrum, and have many of the same frequencies as the human voice. With that situation, it becomes nearly impossible to "fix," but one might be able to attenuate that noise some.
    I would also experiment with Jerry K's suggestion - noise reduction/removal is often a series of experiments with critical listening.
    Good luck,

  • Trying to create a collage. How do I get rid of the background sample picture frames?

    When creating a collage, how do I get rid of the sample picture frames in the background?

    Which version of PSE is this? if it's 11 or 12, you could choose a single photo layout from the layouts panel (click button at bottom right of screen), but generally speaking for these versions there is no sense in using Create to make a collage at all. It's not like some of the earlier versions where there were things you could do in create that you couldn't do in the regular editor. Anymore, for collages, you're better off starting with a blank file in the editor and the graphics panel.

  • How to get rid of warbling background sound when expoerting to MP4 ?

    Hello All;
    I've been having a very, very strange problem since the first day I started exporting a FCP video to MPEG-4 via. the compressor. For some bizarre reason, I always hear a warbling sound in the background when I export a video - this makes MPEG-4 creation completely unusable.
    This is driving me absolutely crazy as I need to create a video for the web. Everything else worked perfectly - size was good, video was very clear, only this stupid warbling sound. I did not record live video ... I only used existing video that was in the FCP project and when I play the project in FCP, I don't hear this strange sound. Also when I export to other formats like Quicktime or even DVD (Via. the compressor) I also don't hear it.
    Anyone experience any problem like this before ? And can someone help me get rid of this stange background sound ?
    Tim

    Thanks for the info, Dave.
    I think I may have solved my problem. I changed the audio sample rate to 32 KHZ and I removed the Right Audio Channel. I used a shotgun mic and it was connected to the left channel so I'm not really sure what the right channel was hearing.
    However, I still think the sample rates were mismatched. It looks like the original clip's audio was set to 48 khz audio but the 48 khz audio setting of the MPEG-4 compressor setting was grayed out so I was unable to select it - Do you know why it was grayed out and is there a way to select 48 khz ? I would still like to try to set the clip to a sample rate of 48 khz in compressor when exporting to MPEG-4.
    Anyway ... I'll know for sure if it's working tomorrow morning. I exported a sample clip while I did the testing but am exporting the full hour-long program overnight.

    If you have Soundtrack....
    In FCP select your audio track while holding down the control key-send to-soundtrack audio file project. A save window will open asking where to save the file, pick a folder or create one for these files and hit -save-, Soundtrack will open- find a part of your audio without talking,(room tone if you have it) click and drag in the grid and select just that noise, go up to Process-set noise print.
    Then go to Process-reduce noise, a new menu will open with sliders. push the play button so you can hear your noise and move the top slider until the noise is almost gone. (if you go to far the vocals will start to sound very digital) play with the other sliders to get the right sound, hit -Apply. Make sure you save. Good luck

  • Getting box says 'Do you use Yahoo toolbar on multiple computers' cant get rid of box. Wont accept input or close!

    The box has two buttons. One says 'save to my Yahoo!ID' the other says 'no thanks, just save to this computer'. I can press each button but nothing seems to happen. The only way to get rid of the box is to close firefox. I am using an HP s5713w-b and windows-7.
    I downloaded the firefox with the Yahoo enhancements.

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
    In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in <u>[[Safe mode]]</u>:
    * Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)

  • How to get rid of grey background in main window?

    Hi
    Just bought PE 13 for my iMac? Quite simply : I don't like the main window that opens - a big expanse of grey. There must be a way to keep the window's "frame" while getting rid of the opaque grey, so I can still see my desktop when using PE ?

    Unfortunately, adobe removed the ability to turn off the application frame in photoshop elements 11, 12 and 13.

  • Help:  How to get rid of the default None from Radio buttons?

    Hi, I searched the forum and found a work around for inputSelect. It seemed it does not work for Radio buttons, i.e., inputSelectGroup with multiple=false.
    Please anyone help us to get rid of the none choice for gender among female and male. Thank you very much in advance.

    The 'none' choice is automatically displayed for fields that allow nulls.

  • Privoxy: cannot get rid of google & facebook ads, or social buttons

    Hi all,
    I wanted to give privoxy a try. For starters, I'd like to do some adblocking, so I followed the wiki instructions for adblocking with privoxy. In particular, I used the privoxy-blocklist script the wiki mentions to download and use the following adblock lists:
    easylist
    easyprivacy
    fanboy-annoyance
    fanboy-social
    fanboy-antifacebook
    malwaredomains_full
    void-gr-filters (for ads in Greek sites)
    Also, again as per the wiki, I added
    {+block-as-image{Facebook "like" and similar tracking URLs.}}
    www.facebook.com/(extern|plugins)/(login_status|like(box)?|activity|fan)\.php
    platform.twitter.com/widgets/follow_button?
    plusone.google.com
    in my /etc/privoxy/user.action file.
    Although now I have adblocking working, I can't get rid of google ads, facebook ads, or social buttons (e.g. facebook like, etc).
    I googled around, and tried all sorts of things. For instance, the following guides did not work for me:
    http://www.willamowius.de/privoxy.html
    http://superuser.com/questions/668608/c … th-privoxy
    Any suggestions anybody?
    EDIT: I'm using privoxy 3.0.21-2 with firefox 30

    Textual ads are harder to get rid of - this is where greasemonkey is useful.
    Thanks.. Though adblock plus would get rid of those. Also I wonder if installing privoxy and greasemonkey
    slows down my firefox.. All in all, for ad blocking, I'm thinking of going back to adblock plus.
