Getting shocked when I touch my new iMac

I keep getting shocked when I touch my imac, is this happening to anybody else? its the new i5 quadcore.

These shocks are usually from static charges in your body, which can build from atmospheric conditions coupled with other aspects of your environment (what you're walking on or rubbing against, the clothes you're wearing, etc.)
To get a shock, you need a sudden discharge of a capacitive buildup that if coming from the computer's electronics would likely harm or disrupt the system's workings and cause problems. The discharge you're feeling comes from the quick grounding of a charge from you to the computer chassis, or from the chassis to you, depending on the polarity of the charge.

  • Can't get Epson NX510 to work with new iMac

I am new to Mac, and I apologize if this is the wrong forum to this question, but...
Apple threw in an NX510 scanner/printer/copy/fax when I bought my new iMac a couple of months ago. Printer/copy functions works great. But I cannot get the scanner function to work.
Can anyone help me figure this out? Thanks in advance.

  • Can i trade in my old imac air when i am buying new iMac air???

can i trade in my old imac air when i am buying new iMac air??? cause the one that i got is 11inch, but it kinds of too small..so i thinking to buy the new one..

Apple does not accept trade ins.  But you could certainly sell your old machine.  You say "iMac Air", and there is actually no machine with that name.  So get the name right and you can hunt around for what your old machine might be worth.

  • When I purchased my new iMAC 21.5-inch, Mid 2011 I didn't recieve any program/system CD's. If I want to reload a app how would I do it?

When I purchased my new iMAC 21.5-inch, Mid 2011 I didn't recieve any program/system CD's. If I want to reload a app how would I do it? On my other Mac's I always had system disc's etc.
    Thank you

I think Apple has reacted to a perceived---or actual---"dumbing down" of the user base. When new Macs shipped with disks, all too many people either blindly threw the disks away of lost them. There are posts all over these forums from people who no longer have their install/restore disks. Some can no longer get proper replacement disks becsue their computer is too old and Apple no longer has a stock of that model's disk.
This is not unique to Apple. PC makers are doing the same thing--providing a restore function internally.

  • When will come the new imac 27 inch in europe(Österreich)

guys when will come the new imac 27 in europe?
    Österreich

There has been no official notice as yet.    We here are simply not able to answer that question.
It is known that there have been some production problems but it seems things are moving now.   All the same, it's doubtful if it will be this year.

  • IMac died, how do I get data off Time Machine to new iMac

My sisters iMac has had HD problems in the past - we replaced hd at Apple in the past.  I am unable to start the computer up again to look into anything. It was apparently sending out a lot of error messages, the main one being the HD was out of space. I first tried to transfer some big files to an empty external, but couldn't. I tried to restore the OSX, but it failed.  Can't remember the exact message, but I know at that time, I figured the HD failed.   ANYWAY...now they cannot get it started up.  It's old - so they have decided to buy a sparkly new iMac for the house.
Here's my question:  They ONLY backed up with the Time machine - onto an external HD that sits on their desk.  When the new computer arrives, what is the best way to go forward.  Obviously, the easiest is to restore from a TM backup....but is this RISKY being we don't know what was going wrong with the computer? I don't want them to drag over any problems  to a new machine.   Is there anyway to ONLY pull info/data - music and pics - over from the TM backup on the new machine?  I know with a program like CCC which I also use, I think this is an option - but I really don't know with TM??
Should/Can I bring both computers to the Genius bar for something like this ?
Any info to get us started will be very helpful !  Little sis relies on me for help....so I turn to you gurus !

Use migrate assistant.. there is a heap of info here.. although it finishes at Mountain Lion it is still relevant to Mavericks.

  • Can't get old scanner to work with new iMAC

I have an old scanner, Epson Perfection 4870 Photo that I can't get my new iMAC to install in PSE6 like I've had in my older computers. I've installed all the software (plus I used my old laptop to transfer files/information when I initially started the new iMAC. When I go into PSE6 it is not under the import area that it used to be. Do I need to go manually drag the file in the hard drive to another folder? Thank you.

Most likely the problem is with the driver. I have the same scanner at work and this is what I had to do to get it to work. Because you are running PSE6 which is a Universal Application on an Intel Mac, in order for the plugin to load within PSE it must also be a Universal plugin which it's not. Epson claims these drivers that were released in 2006 are Intel and 10.5 compatible. What you have to do to get it to work is Open up Epson Scan Utility in order to scan because the Scan Utility will run as a PPC Application. You can call Epson to confirm but if they try and tell you how to run PSE in Rosetta that is not a good solution.

  • Reinstall iLife 11 when HD wiped on new iMac

Had to wipe the Disk on new 21/5" due to a migration that bought problems from a G5 iMac.
Wiped the Drive and reinstalled from an OS X 10.7.3 from an Installer I had DL from the Mac App Store.
Opened the Mac App Store and had to buy iPhoto, the only App the customer uses from the iLife Suite.

I have the latest 27" iMac model and it came with the iLife DVD install disk (free). Depending on when you brought your new Mac you either got the disk or not. If you didn't get the iLife DVD disk you need to download the iLife apps from the App store and pay for them. Apple no long gives away the iLife apps for free.
Yes they do come free. It comes with every Mac sold. Even if you don't have a DVD of them, with a Mac that comes with Lion Pre-Installed, you can freely download them from the App store.
No NEW Mac comes with any DVDs so you don't have a New Mac. Yours came with Snow Leopard Pre-Installed, which came with DVDs.
I've reinstalled Lion on my late 2011 MBP a few times and always got the iLife apps, for free, from the Mac App. Store

  • When i bought my new iMac recently i transferred all my photos from pc to iPhotos  then i recd an update that gave me Photos  how do i combine the two into one photo library and which should i choose?

When i recently bought my new iMac, i transferred my photos from the old pc.  then i recd an update which introduced the Photos...so now i have two photo repositories and i only want one.  how do i get them together and how can i easily find duplicates to delete?  and which library should i choose.

When you launch Photos for the first time it will import all of your photos from iPhoto. iPhoto is going away eventually and Photos is the replacement. For the time being both apps will remain on your system but you should start using Photos exclusively for the future.

  • Can't get on the internet with my new Imac.

My new Imac arrived yesterday. It has Tiger installed and a Leopard disk in the box. I had already downloaded my usb broadband modem's drivers for Tiger 10.4.5 from my Isp and thought it would be a simple matter to install them. No chance! They won't work. It's running Tiger 10.4.10. The modem doesn't sync up and the computer says it doesn't exist. Then I had the bright idea of upgrading to Leopard and using Boot Camp to install Windows XP. Big mistake! I've only got an ancient XP upgrade disk and you need a full SP2 one. But of course I didn't find that out untill I'd put the disk in the superdrive. So now it's stuck in there. Every time I switch the computer on it just boots into the windows setup. Pressing F3 just reboots it into Windows setup. Does anybody know how I can get that cd out of my drive? And how do I get on the internet? My usb modem and it's driver works fine on an old powerbook running Panther.

    Hello again Nevertheless,
Probably! - Possibly! Almost certainly! Hmmm...
Belkin equipment has caused more problems than it had solved ( in my experience only )
Netgear equipment has solved all the problems I have, so far, encountered.

  • Welcome window doesn't appear when installing CS5 on new imac

I'm trying to install CS5 into my new imac but after I inserted the Application disc 1, nothing happens. the welcome window doesn't appear. No window to fill in serial #s, etc. Installed Acrobat with no problem though. Thanks.

Thanks for your response Jeff. I'm still getting myself familiar with Lion and obviously handicapped with these tech stuff so pardon my ignorance. I didn't see the DVD icon the way I used to in earlier OS so just assumed it wasn't working the way Acrobat worked (the first DVD I inserted). Now, I transferred the contents of my backup drive onto my new imac and see both CS4 and CS5 transferred into the Applications folder. Does that mean the softwares are installed or do I need to install them through the DVDs? Don't want to accidentally screw up anything. If I just dragged and deleted CS4, does that completely remove it out of my iMac? thanks so much for your help.
