Getting slideshow photos in imovie to fit audio

I have spent too many hours tonight trying to get all my pictures (with the Ken Burns effect on) to fit perfectly to a song that is 6 minutes and 18 seconds long. Now all the pictures stay on the screen for different lengths of time. Is there any way to highlight all the photos in my slideshow within imovie and have them all be adjusted in one fell swoop to stay on the screen for the entire length of the song I have chosen...without me needing to do the math to figure out how many pics I have and how many seconds each should stay on screen? I really want the computer to do this for me. Is there a way???? TIA

This link describes how to synchronize images to the beat of music. That's not your goal, but some of the techniques it describes may apply:
http://discussions.info.apple.com/webx?128@@.68a8c722
Note that until you render the images into video clips, it takes just a moment to Update all the images to a new duration. Turn OFF the KB checkbox, select all the images in the timeline, apply the same KB duration to each, then tweak that duration and Update until they match the play time of the music. THEN turn on the KB checkbox, adjust the zoom(?), and Update to render the images.
(You want them rendered to avoid an iMovie bug adding jaggies to the images when you press the Create iDVD Project button. iMovie will ask to render them, and if you permit it, iMovie will add lots of jaggies.)
And don't miss iMovie HD's new Edit > Select Similar Clips command.

  • How do I get slideshow photos right-side-up?

I rotate individual photos to get them right-side-up; but when I start a slideshow, the photos revert to appearing sideways. Can someone please help me figure out how to get the slideshow photos right-side-up? Thanks very much.

If you perform a backup to icloud, the camera roll photos are included (if that setting was turned on) but not any other photos.  (Go to Settings>icloud>Storage&Backup>Manage Storage, tap your device name then be sure that camera roll is turned on in Backup Options.
Users should always sync photos to a computer to archiving.  icloud is not totally reliable, depending on how the user has the settings.
If you are converned about your laptop breaking down, remember that performing regular backups is as important as carrying a spare tire in your car.

  • Cant get emailed photos in imovie

i recently got photos emailed to me that i would like to put on an imovie but they dont show on my photo options.... can anyone help????

There may be a keyword in iPhoto that's causing the problem. Check that you have no non-ascii characters in your keywords, and that there are no blank keywords or empty spaces. Look at this thread, where Dave E. describes how to read the AlbumData XML file to easily identify the offending keyword. If you find something similar to what he describes, then go back in iPhoto and edit or delete the keyword that doesn't follow the pattern. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=3870956&#3870956

  • How get photo into iMovie

I have been trying to get a photo  into iMovie from iPhoto or from my desktop. BUT It won't drop into my movie. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks much for responding. I have done all of those things, but the photo doesn't even show up in my choices once I click the camera. So it's something perhaps about how the photos are uploaded to iPhoto? They show up when I am in iPhoto, but they won't show up in iMovie when I navigate over to iPhoto. They are jpegs. I'm using iMovie / iPhoto from last year--that is, not the latest version.
    Thanks for any more insight!

  • Again...  photos into imovie...   why doesn't this work at all???!!!

    alright.
made it a couple times. no problem. but for right now either i have a problem with my mac or here are some nervewrecking coincidences going on to make my life just that more complicated:
as in every youtube-tutorial about how to get pictures into imovie and in lots of macusers logic to get a photo into imovie you do this with the function of the mediacenter at the center-right. so you go there click on the iphoto and to fast forward everything go for the searchbar and look for the photo you want, drag it to the upper left side or if you changed setting bottom left side and then, what comes next...    yep...   right...   you drop it....   well yeah, if there would be the possibility => i got no possibility to drop my pictures.
however, this is no problem for me with my videos, with my audio but for some random reason photos are unpossible for me to drag there.
somebody an advice? something with the setting? it's normal jpeg, it's imovie from the year 2009 which is version 8

alright, you guys, forget about what i just said...   i know why it's not working, it is a file that is not as a quadratic picture but one that is just cut out of a quadratic picture. so it's probably that's why it is not working....
so let's take this thing to a different level:
how can i get things that i cut out from editors like gimp and made a jpeg file out of it get into imovie when they are not quadratic?
My idea is to make a video and add in the foreground some little pictures. something like a logo that i can't make with the writing software of imovie. So hoy can i add such a thing or is it even possible?

  • IPhoto slideshow imported into iMovie  - photos no longer fit in frame

I imported an iPhoto slideshow into iMovie. The event that is created matches the iPhoto slideshow. However, when I drop the iPhoto slideshow into into the new project, I am losing the tops and bottoms of my photos. For most of the photos this is okay, but for some it end up chopping off heads! I have gone back to iPhoto and adjusted photos to add dead space at top/bottom of photos, but this is not possible in all cases.
I exported from iPhoto using Export/Display mode per the instructor in the One to One class.
This project is a workaround to my original problem of distortion issues when I created the slideshow directly in iMovie.
Have a hard deadline to meet, any help would be appreciated!

When creating a slideshow in iPhoto (for sharing), you can select an appropriate aspect ratio to suit your target, i.e., where you intend to use the slideshow.
After clicking the + button in the bottom left corner of iPhoto and selecting Slideshow, click on the Settings tab. At the base of the Slideshow Settings window you can select the aspect ratio. Mine shows the following choices:
    This screen (16:10)
    HDTV (16:9)
    TV (4:3)
    iPhone (3:2)
When creating a slideshow that I intend to import to iMovie '09 I always select the HDTV setting (16:9). This works well, providing you initially position individual slides appropriately in your iPhoto slideshow, e.g, to prevent heads being chopped off!

  • How to get multiple photos as one clip in imovie?

i have 13 school photos that i want to include in an imovie slideshow project. i wanted them to scroll from left to right, but can't seem to get them all in one clip. is there a way to do this? i found a way to do it by adding all 13 pictures into one photo using photobucket, but when i import that massive photo into imovie, it is such poor quality that it isn't worth it. please help. i'm going crazy over here.

In that case, I have never done this before, but here is how I would approach it.
In Photoshop, or similar app, I would create a photo that is 1080pixels high or bigger and wide enough to hold all pictures.
I would place all photos in here and export as a single photo.
In iMovie, I would set the image to Ken Burns, with the starting rectangle on the first photo, and the ending rectangle on the last photo.

  • TS2289 Ever since the new update in iMovie all my audio seems to be there ,but when I get in the middle of the video the audio is off. Help?

Ever since the new update in iMovie all my audio seems to be there ,but when I get in the middle of the video the audio is off. Help?

I think the problem is that the iPod got set to Manually manage music and videos.  It needs to be set up for automatic syncing again.  Just unchecking that Manually manage music and videos setting does not do it.
In iTunes 12, select the iPod in iTunes (using the device button), so that you see the iPod's "management" screen.  In the sidebar (along left side of screen), there are two headings (Settings and On My Device).  Under Settings, click on Music.  To the right, you see the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box at the top for Sync Music.  That turns ON automatic syncing for music.  Below that, choose the option to sync Entire music library (assuming your music library fits completely on your iPod).  Otherwise, you can choose the option to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres and make your selections below.  Then click Apply.

  • Idvd fit audio to slideshow

When I import or create a slideshow with music in Idvd, I choose the fit audio to slideshow option. The timing of the specific slides with the music has been choreographed, especially the conclusion of both photos and music at the end.As an Iphoto slideshow,a Quicktime movie, etc...the product is perfect. However, once in idvd the sldies will continue past the conclusion of the music.Even deleting thumbnails does not solve the issue. This wasn't an issue until Leopard upgrade.Any thoughts?

I had a simialr issue today as well which you may wish to read about as to how I resolved (or worked around) this issue.

  • IMovie 10.0 Not "snapping" photos to beat markers in audio

    Hi,
I recently upgraded to iMovie 10.0 and haven't been able to figure out how to add photos to an audio clip with beat markers. What I did with the previous version was: Add the audio, add the beat markers, "drop" the selected photos (from Finder) onto the audio and voila!...
But with the new version: When I add the photos they are all coming in with a default 4.0s time when they should be "snapping" to the beat markers. I tried looking for the preferences but I have not been able to find anywhere to specify that the photos should, by default, snap to the beat markers and only be given a default time if there is no audio or there are no beat markers. Has anyone else been using the new iMovie and gotten this to work?
Also, in the Clip Trimmer I used to be able to see the total number of beat markers. Does anyone know where I can find that information with 10.0? Perhaps the problem is that the number of beat markers isn't matching the number of photos...I may have missed/added one by mistake.
    Thanks,
    Rob

    Hello Sabatica,
Brian here.  While I too couldn't find the beat markers feature in the new iMovie,  I did find how to edit waveforms.
It's there, but you have to look for it (not like you should have to but you know what I mean).
Open the new iMovie, and on the far right underneath the viewer you'll see a "film bubble" looking icon.  Click that.
    Here's what you should see:
As you can see, I've checked mine off already.
Now, for the editing part.  If you Option-click (much like Final Cut) on the volume level line (the black line in the middle of the waveform), you can create edit points.  I use four, so I have better control.  See below:
Put your cusor in between these two sets of points, and drag down.
Like this.  I hope this helps!
    Sincerely,
    Brian K. James

  • I am using iMovies 11. How can I prevent getting duplicate photos

I am using iMovies 11 in MacBook Pro. I dragged in photos from one particular event, now I am trying drag a couple more photos into this same Movie Project from a different event, but every time I drag and drop, it is duplicating the very last photo that was originally there from the first event and only showing that last photo from the first event instead of the new photos I dragged in.  How can I correct this?

Post your topic in the iMove community here.
That way you can get feedback directly from iMovie users.

  • Photos into iMovie: yes, it's been addressed, but...

... I can't find exactly my issue, at least not recently.
Many of the posts on this topic seem to be about exporting to iDVD, but that's not my problem. It starts earlier. My photos get compressed and look terrible as soon as they're imported into iMovie. I have '09, but the local Apple Store didn't think upgrading to '11 would help, because -- such as I understand -- a single large photo is much bigger than a frame of video or something more or less like that.
Now, I pretty much just want to do slideshows, high-quality slideshows, and I don't even care about Ken Burns effects. But before you say: DON'T do this in iMovie! That's not what it's for! Do it in something else! Consider:
-People I know who use Final Cut Pro (which is more than I want to invest, anyway) say that it, too, has problems importing and manipulating photos. No one I know has Final Cut Express to play around with, and there's no Free Demo, obviously.
-I've now dabbled in both FotoMagico and Photo to Movie, and they seem to have some things going for them, but I can't seem to control audio in them as well as in iMovie, and that's a huge problem. I need to control fades precisely, and I need multiple audio tracks to layer and cross-fade.
-Other programs I've dabbled with, such as Aperture 3 and Sounds Slides, also have limited ability to manipulate sound and/or adjust the length of individual slides.
-One responder in a forum last year named Klaus  suggested an elegant work-around: create the slideshow in Photo to Movie (which he uses) or FotoMagico (which he guessed would work ok), and then bring it back into iMovie as a .dv video clip for sound editing and finishing. I tried this, but P2M compressed the images when I saved as a .dv (back to square one), and I couldn't figure out a way to export in FM that iMovie would recognize.
    So . . .
Is there a better way to import photos into iMovie to preserve integrity? (I don't think so)
Is there a better way to export video out of FotoMagico or P2M into iMovie?
Is there something I'm missing about their sound editing capabilities?
Can Final Cut Express do what I want without much more excess capacity than I need and a huge learning curve?
    Are there any other programs?
Klaus, Bengt, others -- please weigh in!!!
    Thanks, Danke, Merci . . .
    Fred

Understanding your data use is important, Rustyhinges! There are many things that can factor into a sudden increase in data. Thank you for ensuring Facebook Video is off. You can also view which applications are using the most data by going to Settings, Data Usage and scrolling to the bottom. As Android_Optimizer mentioned, making sure the device is not syncing to cloud services and restricting background data are great steps to keeping the phone data use, controlled. Please let us know if you have further concerns on this. Thank you.

  • How do you drag to edit duration of photos in iMovie '11?

I'm putting together a slideshow, with still photos, on iMovie '11, but it won't let me drag the edges of the photos to edit the duration of each one.  I used to be able to do this, but for some reason, can't anymore.  How do I get this feature to work?

Double-click the photo to open the Inspector and change the duration by entering a new time.
Note that dragging the edge of a photo will work only when shortening the duration, that is, dragging inwards. Click on the photo before dragging so that the yellow border appears, then drag either of the handles. Right-click within the adjusted yellow frame and select "Trim to Selection" from the pop-up menu.
