Getting someone eles calls.....

I've just moved to a new area registered with BT for a new number, which is now all up and running. Unfortuantely now we are getting loads of calls asking if we are an Insurance Company, the strange thing is the number people are dialling to get through is different to our actual number? Doing a bit of research it looks like the Insurance company used to have our number and have now changed theres!!! What can I do? Have they got a re-direct set up with there old number?

As soon as I keep the iPhone (iPhone 5) on the desk the network goes off and when I swipe it then only it starts searching for the network and get it in 30 seconds. If someone is calling me during that time it says mobile is either switched off or outsid

It takes an enormous amount of patience and time to get through to a qualified person.
My Samsung S5 was locked out and needed a factory reset. Including attempts to achieve this locally, it took over an hour before my problem was even addressed.
You may be interested in my journey to a very good technical support person.
First I called the local sales person who had given me his personal business card with the friendly advice to call me with any questions. No answer at about 8:30 am when the business was open. His voice mailbox was full.
Then I called the local store where I had purchased the phone. The person who answered the phone had learned all the proper stock phrases, but was not familiar with the issue, stated that there were no customers in the store, and I should go there in about an hour when there would be more staff. He suggested dialing *411 from my phone (which was locked). Then he gave me a number to call Verizon, which he had to look up, and it took a minute or so. The number was (removed). That is an internal number for employees and contractors and requires a code to access, obviously not designed for customers' use. He finally cut me off by stating that there were a number of customers in line waiting for his attention!
After researching all my papers I found 800-922-0204 on my bill. The automated message suggested a hold time of 5 minutes, it took 20 minutes for a Customer Service Representative to pick up, and then I was referred to technical assistance. The hold time was announced to take 5 minutes, after 12 minutes I finally was connected.
Fortunately I had my computer set up for Skype on a loudspeaker, and was able to do some other paperwork while waiting.
Persistence was rewarded by having the good fortune to be connected to a very experienced, qualified and patient technical support staff with the name of Thomas (removed). He solved my problem, answered my questions during the process of resetting the phone, and gave an example of courteous and kind customer service that I had never experienced before when dealing with any major internet company.

What does it take to get someone to check into this?

When I try to call my husband, this is the message I get:
Hello welcome to verizon wireless the wireless customer your are trying to reach is unavailable at this time. please try your call again later.
then there is some sort of "error code" cited. My husband's phone never makes a sound, and never registers that a call was missed; nothing. This has been happening more and more this spring and summer.
Lately, Verizon's signal in my area has been poorer than usual; most of the time it is in 3G instead of 4G. There are times when I'm looking at my phone and I can see the signal go entirely dead for a few seconds.
I've tried calling VZW to get someone to check into whatever may be wrong with their system in this area, and get the usual "hard reset your phone", or "your husband had call forwarding enabled, but then it was disabled and we don't know why your calls aren't going thru but hey, we do apologize for that.."
Any idea how to get someone to pay attention? thanks

Help is here, FrustratedNEOhio! We definitely want to make sure that you are able to reach your husband. Does this only happen when you call him? If so, please try the suggested step by tbo27, and try deleting and re-adding eachother as contacts. I realize that your husband's phone does not get a notification when this happens, but do you know if this happens at certain locations such as work or home? Can you also provide a zip code so we can review the area.

This is very easy to resolve in 3 easy steps. goto
1. settings
2. general
3. where it says 'Use Side switch to' you will see two choices
a) Lock rotation
b) Mute
Mute will be ticked if you are not getting a ringtone when someone calls you on Facetime
Simply Click on 'Lock Rotation'
Lock Rotation will now be ticked
Mute will be unticked.
Facetime calls will now ring your iPad2

Getting someones number into contacts on the fly...how?

When you want to quickly get someones phone number, I will have them call my cell and then I have the caller id. However, I do not see anyway to convert a missed call into a contact (if you tap on it, it simply calls back)
1) Is there a way to convert a missed call into a contact?
2) Is there a better way (an app?) to quickly get a person's phone number/name into contacts via them calling/or other way? Typing in the information on the fly is not a very good approach to me.

To the right of the missed call or a recent call that is not entered in the address book, select the right facing arrow in a blue circle icon.
Options are:
Call
Text Message
Create New Contact
Add to Existing Contact

            5 the prices ( at least on pc's ) could be cheaper if they did not 'give them away'    ( the cost is hidden in the price *YOU* pay
            6 if you reply to them , the likeyhood is that you r now on some emailing list . or they have you IP . thus opening the door to spurious emails , or control of your machine .
            7 userr   says they *can be deleted *   not always true. control panel - add/remove does not TOTALLY flush them out of the system
            8 the suppllier * thinks* they enhance the product to entice other sales . but really that is upto the user to do , as he wants
            9 if they are * needed* Microsoft would include them in the OS

No ring when I get a Facetime call - intermittent

I have the same problem as many others when I get a Facetime call on my Ipad2. There is no ring - but this happens intermittently! It happens almost all the time with one person but not with any others. Please don't tell me about the mute switch, because it works well most of the time. Thanks in advance to the solver of my dilema.

SPA942 randomly getting set on Calls Forwarded

I have 8 SPA942 and 2 SPA504G Linksys/Cisco IP phones on a freePBX phone system and they randomly get set to Calls Forwarded and the phones randomly get locked where it asks for a password to access call log etc. I reset the phones to default reset all settings and the phones work, but still these issues come up, with or without a password being set on the phones, using firmware 6.1.5a on the SPA942 phones.
I have setup the phone system a second time from scratch and still this issue comes up. I cannot find any reason why the phones would randomly get set to calls forwarded, nor can I find any evidence that someone is logging into the phones and setting or changing the password.
Don't know where to go from here?

Turn on syslog & debug and catch all the messages sent from the phone (or all phones). It will help you with the further analysis.

I have two different 5s's with two different phone numbers but they are both using the same iCloud/apple account. After upgrading to iOS8 when I get a phone call on one phone both phones ring.

One phone is for work and one is for private and I don't need both phones to ring from one call. It's bizarre.......is this supposed to be like this? If so where can I turn it off?? And while we are at it iOS8 has installed iBooks on both of my phones and iTunes won't let me uninstall it. I don't need or want iBooks on my phones.

There are two easy fixes to this.
One, you can set up Family Sharing, in which you can have two different iCloud Accounts, yet still share the same apps, music, media etc.
Two, go to Settings and turn-off "Handoff". This can be found under the General page.
