My old computer recently crashed and all my songs that were in iTunes are currently on my iPod. I just got a new computer, how do I get the songs off my iPod into iTunes on my new computer without losing any of the songs? Please help me!!

Install iTunes on the new PC and authorise it.
Then you can copy across in various ways...
Copy from iPod to PC
It is important not to allow your iPod to sync with an empty library. If it is set to synchronise automatically you will get a message saying your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to sync – it is important to press cancel as syncing with an empty library erases all music from your iPod.
You can also prevent auto sync by holding down shift & ctrl as you plug in your iPod and keeping the keys held down until the iPod appears in iTunes.
Once you are connected, you need to set your iPod to manage music manually.

I won't lie, iTunes confuses the **** out of me. I thought I had it sussed though, clearly I was wrong...
Okay, got a new iMac when my last pc finally died. Synced my ipod to it no worries at all, never lost a song. I assumed it was because I had home sharing or because I'd authorised my new computer using my old apple id?
Now I have a problem though. This is the first time I've actually had a good look at what happens when I connect the ipod to itunes. It will let me add new music that I've burned from my cds. However, it won't let me save any of the previously burned music on this ipod to the itunes library, even though I used itunes and the same apple id to do it originally on my old pc. I want to do this so I can transfer some of the music to my iphone which has less memory (we have an ipod playlist and iphone playlist because of the memory available).
Is there a setting I've got wrong or is this because itunes legitimately believes I'm trying to infringe a copyright? I thought my apple id would mean they knew everything I'd done under that id before? Do I have to burn the cds all over again?
Pls ask me to clarify anything if I've not provided the right info.

A lot of content is available to down load from the purchased are of Itunes Store on all devices and computers.
If you do not use iTunes Match, I don't then the computer is your source of your own non purcased content. This you can share with 5 Computers and 5 Devices.
That is why it is important to keep a backup of this data so it can be restored to that computer or mover to a new one and you can resync it to your devices

I know this has to be incredibly easy and I'm sorry for having to ask but I can't seem to find the answer. I have all my music on my iPod. Old computer was stolen and I want to move it to my new computer. What are the steps?

Computer Hard Drive Crashed-How do I get songs FROM ipod to iTunes on comp?

I have tried the "Transfer Purchases from Ipod" and then it gives me an error message that the computer is not "authorized". I go thru the authorization process and it tells the authorization was successful, but then when I re-try the Transfer, I get the same message!!! Help!!!

Plug in the iPod and open iTunes. Now go to the top and click 'File' go down till you see 'Transfer Purchases from "(the name of the iPod)'. Doing this will retreve all of the purchased songs off the iPod. The songs that were put on with CDs are easy to replace. If some songs don't show up your lolcal library might have the CDs.

New computer won't take songs from ipod, how to register new computer?

My hard drive crashed, I had to buy a new one. All my songs were on my old drive. Except for what is in my ipod. I bought a new hard drive, but haven't had the $$ to have files removed from old drive yet. I recently had to get a new computer due to my old computer dieing on me unexpectedly. Ive got about 400-500 songs/videos on my Ipod and I want to put those songs onto this new computer in the new itunes I just installed. How can I transfer the music on my ipod to my new computer? Not all of the music/videos on my ipod are purchased, so I cannot just do the Transfer Purchases thing.

The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. Moving Data from iPod to iTunes on new computer

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I have a new computer and I am trying to upload the songs from my iPod to the iTunes on the new computer. I do not have the old computer to transfer from the old iTunes to the new iTunes. Is it possible to use the iPod to transfer the song files?

If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
For all other non purchased music (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.

The iPod is not intended to be a backup device. You should move your music from your old computer to the new one, but you can also use "manually manage music" and use the iPod to do it.

After recovering your song files, strongly consider developing a thorough backup strategy for just this type of situation.
You need at least three sets of your music:
-- One full set on the PC within iTunes (on internal HD or ExHD)
-- One full set on an separate external backup medium (CD/DVD/ExHD/other)
-- One (full or partial) set on the iPod
Music files on just the iPod and the computer is not considered having any backup. If you cannot store your complete music files on the computer, then create and maintain two external sets.
Backup both the music files and the Library database file (iTunes Library.itl). What are the iTunes Library files?

Right click on your device in the device list and choose "transfer purchses" to copy all music bought in iTunes to your new iTunes library.
