Getting songs to play in order on an album

OK, I am hoping someone has a solution to this problem. While I usually enjoy listening to sngs in shuffle mode, occasionally I will want to listen to an album with the songs in the order in which they appear on the album. However, I have not been able to get my iPod to play the songs of an album in the correct order. I have looked at some of the threads dealing with this issue here and here is what I have tried:
I made a playlist out of the album and then went into "Get Info" and made sure that each song was correctly numbered. Then I transferred the playlist to my iPod. Songs are correctly numbered on the list but still do not play in the correct order on the iPod.
What am I missing here?

Never mind. I finally figured it out. For anyone else who has this issue, you have to click on Settings in your iPod from the main menu and then turn Shuffle off.

  • Songs dont play in order

my playlist will not play in order when I sync it to my ipod shuffle.  What am i doing wrong?  ugh!

I fixed mine and it's now playing songs in order if I want it to.  Not sure I can remember exactly what I did but here are the signiticant steps.  After syncing your songs, select "manually manage music", apply that change, next locate the music library for the shuffle.  You'll see that the songs are in alpha by title.  Click on whatever sort you prefer (i.e. Artist, Album, etc).  After that you'll need to apply those changes.  Sorry I'm not more technical...hoope it works for you!

  • How do I get songs to play on my new mac that were associated with an old itunes ID?

I recently purchased a new lap top and downloaded my songs from a back up server and someof the songs will not play becasue they are associated with an old Apple ID which is no longer used and has not been used for years.  How do I get these songs to play under the new Apple ID that I have?

You need to authorize the computer to play content from that Apple ID. If it's completely inaccessible, click here and request assistance.

  • Songs not playing in order

I've asked this question in other venues and have even read answers hear about how to fix my problem and nothing seems to be working. I have certain playlists that I want to play in a certain order. Shuffle on iTunes is turned off. My library is sorted by album, because one answer I received told me that the songs won't play in order unless the library is set up like this. I also highlighted the playlists that I wanted played in order, right clicked it, and selected copy to play in order. I've synced my iPod mini each time I've done these and still, those playlists are shuffling. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
    Thanks

Got a new iPod since posting this and it works just like it should.

  • Playlist songs not playing in order

All of my playlists are no longer playing songs in order. I don't think I hit shuffle. I deleted the music from the iPhone and synced them all again, but still not playing in order. The songs are in the correct order in iTunes. Any thoughts?

I was having the same problem and just found an answer in these forums.
You have to be playing a track (song or podcast) in the playlist to make the change. Tap on the album art to bring up the scrubber bar. Then tap on the shuffle icon on the right side to turn off shuffle.
Seems to work for me so far.

  • Need Help Fixing iTunes and Getting Songs To Play

I have been having trouble with iTunes ever since transferring to a new computer several months ago.  Fist of all, a different iTunes downloaded on the new computer that I don't know how to navigate or find anything on (and I HATE it!). After 2 or 3 months I finally figured out how to transfer my songs from the old computer to the new, but was not able to transfer the playlists.  Very unhappy with that, but at least was able to put new songs on my iPod again.  Today when I went onto iTunes it asked if I wanted to download the new upgrade, so I clicked yes and restarted computer when prompted.  After the computer restarted I went back to iTunes and got an error message that said some things were missing and I needed to reinstall iTunes (I don't remember exactly what it said).  I didn't know what to do so I Xed out of iTunes and turned it back on.  A box asked if I wanted to reinstall and fix iTunes or untinstall -- I clicked the first one, to reinstall and fix and replace what was missing. After that I went back into my iTunes and discovered that most of my songs won't play.  I get an error message saying "could not be used because the original file could not be found."  I also found it unusual that I have purchased over a hundred songs over the years but when I click on "Purchased Songs" it only lists 20.  I have hated iTunes ever since switching from my crashing XP computer to my new Windows 7 computer.  Does anyone know how I can get all of my songs to play?  Or how I can get my playlists back?  when I plugged my iPod in months ago I thought the playlists might transfer to the computer from the iPod, but they didn't.  I want to change some of the songs on my playlists and add more but I can't.  Now I can't even play most of my songs. I am very distraught!  Thank you for any help!!!

As M has noted, the more info that is presented in the question the quicker you will get a constructive answer. No one can read anothers mind. It is an art to write what ones thought are.
I will assume that you mean "default" as being your internal speakers. To change your sound output - assuming that is your question - go to System prefs and select SOUND. If there are any other sound output options then it would be listed and you can make your selection of speakers.

  • My pictures are playing out of sequence on my project.  Can anyone tell me what I need to do to get them to play in order?

Hi.  I'm using iMovie for the first time.  I put in only pictures.  No videos.  When I hit play, my pictures are playing out of order and some repeat.  Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong or what I need to change so they play in order?  Thanks!

  • TS1717 Downloaded "clean" album from store. Some of the songs show their total length, but only play partway thru. Any ideas on how to get songs to play full length?

Downloaded from "clean" cd from store but some songs only play partway even though total time shows.

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the broken tracks only from your iTunes library, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
If you don't see them straight away it may help to restart iTunes. While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unticked.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

  • Play/list order within "compilation" Album

I have a large number of "compilation" albums that I have created by converting selected songs from analog sources (LP's, Cassette, reel-to-reel). I can control the order of songs in these compiliation albums by adjusting the track numbers in the info section of iTunes.
HOWEVER, when I later separately import a song and want to add it to a compilation album already on iTunes the additional newly imported song (after filling in the song title, artist name, compilation album namem genre, and the track number I wish the new song to be) always gets put in at the beginning of the compilation album - despite the track number I give to it.
Anyone have any idea how I get get the songs into the order I want?
Any thoughts and advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you for the response. The problem was NOT directed related to the view in iTunes. It had to do with how iTunes perceived a particular song when it was imported separately from other songs but when the information is manually filled in to make it part of a compilation album. Getting the songs in the desired order should have been as easy as changing the track numbers in "info". That did not work and my original question was "why"?
I have stumbled upon an answer (not sure where my inspiration came from). If, in a compilation album, you: 1) check the box that says compilation, and 2)manually put in the track numbers AND 3) PUT THE ALBUM ARTIST AS "VARIOUS", it all works and the list on iTunes and the play order (even without using a playlist) is in the order I designate.
Why the word "Various" should be a magic word that allows this all fall into place is beyond me - but in the back of my mind I remember seeing (don't know where) that in a compilation album the "album artist" field should be filled in with "Various". Now that I know the answer a search on the word "Various" or "compilation" will probably turn up the answer somewhere on the Apple support site of in a forum.

  • All the songs are out of order on my albums. Does anyone know why?

On almost every album on my iPad the songs are out of order. Yesterday I deleted 6 of the albums, synced to iTunes and reinstalled them. When I opened them on the iPad they were in the correct order. I closed the iPad and ran an errand, came back and open the iPad again only to see all the songs once again out of order. I can't figure out what the problem is. I don't have this problem on my iPhone or either of my iPods, only on the iPad. Anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

Have you tried creating a playlist for your album, then
    select the playlist in iTunes.
    right-click the playlist name -> select +copy to play order+. -> sync.

  • Importing songs in the correct order on an album

Everytime I import a cd into my iTunes library the songs never appear in the correct order they are on the actual album. I know that they are always in alphabetical order when you click on iTunes Library. But when I click on the album title all the songs are in aphabetical order instead of the correct order that they appear on the original CD. If I try to drag them into the order they should be, iTunes won"t do it. I have imported CDs on my wife's and my daughter's Macs and the songs stay in the correct order that they appear on the CDs. I have been trying to fix this problem for the last 2 years on my G5 without any success. I have checked iTunes preferences settings and can't see any problem there. Any ideas on what to try next?
    Mac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

After inserting a CD, click on the header of the leftmost column (that one with the numbers). The little triangle must point upwards.
Try importing a CD with these settings.
    Hope this helps.

What format is the movie? What sort of extension does it have?

  • Songs Not Playing In Order of Playlist

It's probably me... after buying four Ipods for my kids over the years I'm an old man trying to keep up!
I'm listening to talk-radio podcast downloads and there are three hours for each day. And I want to play them in order.
I copied the programs from my podcast download to a playlist where I dragged them into the right order. But they don't appear in that order on the Ipod.
It's not random; they are not being "shuffled." The days are just mixed up, like it's in alpha or some other order.
Also, I only checked the little box under the Music tab; not the one under the Podcasts tab. So it should be syncing to the playlist which I have put in the proper order.
Can any of you kids help this old man?
    Grandpa Peter

I unchecked all the boxes, and resynced... so there was nothing on my Ipod. Then I checked them all and resynced so it loaed them all over again. Thought this might fix it.
They are still out-of-order, and I can't figure out the logic of the order. It's not alpha, nor in the order I list them. I will just have to keep track of which ones I listen to and delete them before I resync again.
    What a pain!

  • Can't Get Songs To Play On New Computer w/ Windows 7

I bought a new computer Friday that has Windows 7. I downloaded iTunes...but I cannot play the song previews or purchased songs. It shows the song loads, but it never progresses...stays at 00:00. I can play video previews, but no music.
Is ity an iTunes thing? QuickTime thing? Windows 7 thing?
    Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, I had the same problem after I installed Windows 7. My iTunes worked OK except when trying to play a track from my playlist or my Audio CD. Like you my slidebar never moved from 0.00 and I got no sound. The solution was to buy a more up to date sound card, one that is compatible with Windows 7 and Windows Media Centre as well as iTunes. I changed from a Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 to a Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Extreme Audio and now I can play and hear tracks using iTunes. As your laptop is new I would assume that it has a Windows 7 compatible sound card but you never know it may not.
Hope it works out well for you,
    Steve
