Getting Spammed!

I have had this particular web e-mail address for the best part of 10 years and have never used it for commercial purposes before and it has never recieved any Spam e-mails! however, since joining the BT Community forum and using it to sign up whilst in transition from my old ISP, I am now starting to recieve spam even though I have taken the option to keep my e-mail address private.
Is this forum leaking details to some web-crawler or is it selling on personal information? Either way, I'm not happy at losing the privacy of a long held web account that can be accessed from any connection, anywhere in the world and I hold BT fully accountable.
Is anybody else recieving spam on an account other than one of BT's own? 

I understand you're trying very hard to defend BT, but if you care to read my posts again, you might notice that I'm fairly well experienced with these things ...as anyone that can keep an e-mail address free of spam for 10 years must be.
One of the ways to keep them free of spam is to keep an eye on spam activity. This address has never been published to any other than Family and one or two Companies that I've worked for - that is to say; until I used it to sign up here. my former static isp didn't have it and my mobile isp hasn't changed. If I sign up here and the spamming begins, it's obvious to anybody with any common sense where the root of said spam is originating.
As a form of a test, I've just now changed my contact e-mail address to one that I've had for a couple of years and never recieved spam on either ..but this time it's never been used to contact anybody! It's totally clean.
Let's wait a couple weeks and see what happens there huh. 
P.S: I'll also say again: it's nothing to do with Luck! It's all about who you sign up with.
P.P.S: If anybody else - aside from TonyM - has suffered a similar fate with a non-BT e-mail address please feel free to post your experience.

    You cannot set rules on the iPad or the iPhone for mail. The only thing that you can do is to filter spam mail in your webmail settings using a web browser. The rules that set up in the mail app on the Mac do not sync across devices, those are rules for inside the mail client itself on the Mac.

    In the mailbox list, below the word "MAILBOXES" and the standard mailboxes (Inbox, Drafts, Sent, Trash, & Junk), you should have some lines like "SMART MAILBOXES", "REMINDERS", "RSS", "ON MY MAC", and a line with the name of each of your mail accounts. Each of those lines may have subordinate lines indented below it, or they may be hidden. Before Lion, the top-level lines would have standard disclosure triangles to their left like folders, but Lion Mail removed that visual clue in favor of a word "Show" or "Hide" to the right that appears only when you mouse over it.
    The Gmail Spam folder you seek is two folders deep inside your Gmail account.
    Here's my Gmail account listing:
    It has 41 unread messages. If I hover my cursor over the oval with "41" in it, the oval shifts left and "Show" appears. If I click on "Show", I get this:
    If I click on the disclosure triangle left of the "[Gmail]" folder, voila!
    By the way, this intermediate "[Gmail]" folder is specific to Gmail, Google Apps mail sites, and other mail sites using Google's Gmail code, as is the All Mail folder. Other servers will have their own folder structure.

    No app on the iOS device is required.                           
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod/iPhone/iPad on the iOS device in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected or cellular data is on and connected for, on a computer browser go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up or continue to show off-line.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iOS device and have the device play a sound via iCloud.

  • Keep getting spam, no way to block/report user

    I keep getting spam messages from *edited for privacy*.  I can remove from contacts but then they just show right back up, and when I right click on their name there is no option to block/report.  I have the setting Only allow people in my contact list to contact me selected.

    I registered today to report the exact same thing... 
    It is a serios flaw/error in this new merge, and one that in no way should have been launched in its current state. 
    I have seen other threads, from nearly 6 months ago, reporting the same error, and the reply was that maybe a solution is coming.... soon.... maybe.... 
    It is freaking me out and destrying my work day as I use skype for work. And constant popups from spam mongers are really frustrating...

    After calling AT&T tech support one more time, and explaining to them that the glitch was on their network, they admitted that the problem was at their tower...
    I continued to use the phone on EDGE mode for two more days until the problem was fixed.
    I even got a call back from a tech support guy asking me if my phone was working properly....
    I wish they would have admitted to the problem before I sat at the apple store for 2 hours.

    My spam filter always gets spam never has it gotten an email I want to keep.
    So how can I automatically have it sent to trash - I don't want to keep manually delete-ing the hundred or more spam mails a day.

  • Getting spammed by OTN forum

    Ever since posting questions and responding to peoples questions, I've been receiving hundreds of emails every day from ORACLE OTN and I can't find any configuration within my account to shut it off. I tried changing my email to a "junk" email account. OTN still directs this junk mail to my primary email acct.
    This is ridiculous. Anyone have suggestions?

    Go to Your Control Panel (upper right of your screen) and then click on 'Your Watches' and set them all to 'No'.

    To tell me to mark it as spam is just not good enough.  I do not want this rubbish cluttering my inbox.

    Nobody want to receive spam, but it's a fact of life. Apple is certainly not selling your address on to spammers, and it's possible that the spammer has been guessing at possible addresses and has hit on yours.
    A good third-party program for dealing with spam is SpamSieve - after a training period it's very good at identifying spam and shunting it to a Spam folder where you can check it and delete at your leisure. It works with iCloud.

    After the latest update, my ipad iCloud mail freezes when I get spam. It freezes all email. I have to go to PC, and erase the mail before I can use it again. So far I haven't found any settings on ipad or iCloud on the PC to limit what email I receive.
    The spam messages cannot just be trashed from ipad.
    There's got to be a way to stop the spam!

    Even if you could, if you're sure the app is the cause of unwanted messages...get rid of the app and be sure to post a negative review of it on BlackBerry World. No app is worth the hassle of spam and you need to let people know about it. But to answer your question, it depends what kind of spam you're talking about. Are you getting unwanted emails? Is it text messages? Are you getting some type of pop-ups on your device? You might be able to stop it by getting rid of the app but I still say even if there's no guarantee of it, get rid of the app and write a negative review.

    Since Firefox joined with Yahoo, I have been receiving Daily Spam Emails, never have I had so many since this merger. Plus only 3/4 of many received Emails are shown on the screen, the rest are cut off.. Thank you

    Mozilla doesn't send spam, nor does Yahoo, so this isn't something we can control. I'd suggest you try adjusting the spam filters in your e-mail system to better get rid of the garbage, or switch e-mail addresses if it is really bad.

    CT: well, it happened to me, again! Some "Entity" came through with a contact request JUST AS (and I mean "JUST AS")  the notification popped up that a new Skype update is available. Of course, I blocked (and reported)
    So - again, why should people who know that they DO NOT WISH TO BE CONTACTED IN ANY WAY - not via any venue - just by their contacts that they have in their contact list....WHY should we have to bother with people we don't want? IF they do not wish to have themselves "outed" then let them be careful whom they contact. I would go even further and say, if it is someone that is sure one WISHES to hear from them..... via Skype.... then let them add a few personal identifying remarks.. Or call or email prior.... and not just barge in.
