Getting specific contacts into my nano -

I am interested in getting some particular contacts from Address Book into my contacts on my nano. My guess is to export a specific folder of contacts as V-cards and then import them in to my nano. I don't know if this is possible - I am open to the easiest solution - nano as a hard drive or through iTunes - Thanks.

All you have to do is create a special Group in your Address Book with the contacts you want. Then in iTunes preferences for the iPod, select that group as the contacts to use.
The iTunes preference pane for iPod is where you select the calendar, music, contacts and photos to add to the Nano.

When you ask a question, please include the version of Mac OS X on your computer. iOS is not a Mac operating system.
Assuming you are running OS 10.9.1:
Open Contacts. Click File in the menu bar and select New Group. Enter the name of the group in Contacts on the left.
Go back to All Contacts (on the left) then drag and drop the names you want in that group on to the folder you just named.
Repeat as necessary for other groups.
Note that the names remain, as they should, in All Contacts, even after you have added them to a group.. You can delete a group if you want. The names will still remain in All Contacts.

I purchased a new vehicle with a USP port but my nano model A199 will not work, only works with the aux plug which will not allow me to view the songs on the vehicle touchscreen. Is there a download I can get to put into this nano?

Check with your dealer and see if there is a special cable available for connecting your iPod. It should have a dock connector on one end and USB and miniplug on the other.

I've looked through the Siri help stuff, and there' slots of things that tell me to put my info/contact into Siri at Settings / Siri / My Info. Great, but when I select that, I get an "All icloud" contact list. Since I have mself, wife, colleagues already in my contacts (MS Exchange) already -- how do I simply "copy" them into the icloud contact group???? I certainly don't want ot have to re-enter them twice. Also, I'm on a PC, is there no web interface from my PC to my icloud account? Any help greatly appreciated -- I'm obviously on the new 4S ...

Welcome to the Apple community.
If you deleted your contacts from your contacts app, they will also be deleted in iCloud.
However if you deleted your account or simply turned contacts syncing off, you should be able to log back into your account or re-enable contacts syncing and they would repopulate your contacts app.
Could you perhaps tell us which of these you have done.

Getting all contacts into icloud

How do I get "All Contacts" that are on my iPhone 4 over to my iCloud.com account? The group "All iCloud" on my phone has many less contacts than the All Contacts. I'm concerned that if I lose my phone or the data gets corrupted, I'll lose all the extra contacts. I don't have an Outlook account, but that seems to be the only type of account you can sync with.

Winston Churchill's solution looks promising, but seeing your experience I'm reluctant to try it. Can anyone tell us how to merge the contents of "All Contacts" on the iPhone (a non-iCloud group) with one of the iCloud groups? (I have a couple; do not remember how they got put into iCloud while several other groups on the phone, including the big "All Contacts", did not.
I apologize for my ignorance. I'll be grateful for guidance.

In gmail, go to your Contacts, and look for the Export link (hint: upper-right part of the screen). Export to CSV (I'm not sure whether you'll have better luck with the Google or Outlook format, honestly).
Now grab this little program:

which is free for a single use or $10 to keep, and use it to import those to Address Book.
Now sync your iPhone with Address Book, et voila.

How to get Outlook contacts into Android's contact list?

I have just installed Outlook by Microsoft Corp onto my Android Asus ZenFone 2. From the Outlook app, I can see under People all my contacts from the Exchange server, with other contacts on the phone's contact list. However, from the phone's contact
list, I cannot see the Outlook account, I can see only Google, WhatsApp, SIM, device, etc.
Is the Microsoft Outlook app a "normal" phone app like all the other apps with contact lists?

Gmail is an excellent import tool fir contacts exported
in an Outlook CSV form.
Login to
Gmail that is associated with your Android device, go to the
Contacts from drop down menu up left, More > Import function.
This will allow you to choose the CSV file you just got out of Outlook on your computer, and
upload it to Gmail. Here they are – all your Outlook contacts synced with your new
Android device.

I transfered the music because it's all purchased - but if I sync the phone with the itunes everything will eb erased - is it possible to do the reverse?

You don't put contacts into itunes. itunes is a media management program, not and address book.
You sync them to your computers contact program via itunes.
Where are your contacts now?
Iphone does not save to SIM.

The easiest way is to turn off the contacts in iCloud section in settings. Remember to keep data. After that it is turned off, just turn it back on to merge data and you will be set.

You have to use outlook in order to integrate contacs with PC, since that is the only program that syncs with cloud. Or you can use a "poor man's" version, by accessing those contacts over www.icloud.com website and managing there.

It has gone completely dead. I have tried resetting to no avail.
It has been connected via USB to computer for about 2 hours - still no joy.

Can't find how to get iPad Contacts into new iMac Address Book

I've got a brand new iMac and if I look in the import feature of Address Book it wants to import from a file on my iMac but there's no iPad listed there even though it's plugged in. iTunes only seems to sync first time from iMac to iPad but all my contact details are on the iPad. Surely there is there some way to migrate my iPad Contacts to my iMac address book isn't there?

Data to and from your iPad is managed via iTunes. With your iPad connected to your iMac, open iTunes and then select the Info Pane. There you can choose to sync data. I would advise that you first right click on the name of your iPad in the iTunes Devices list and choose BackUp. Just in case anything goes funky!

1. Copy/paste the script below into AppleScript Editor.
2. Select the cards in Contacts that you want.
3. Click the green run button in AppleScript Editor.

This is not as nice as the old vcard drag and drop import. It's a simple example and probably needs some customizing because there are so many different ways people store information in Contacts. But this approach can meet most needs, if it's not convenient to leave the data in Contacts and link to it.
