Getting spinning wheel lockups when browsing net

when Im browsing the net I often get a lockup with the spinning wheel, in both firefox and safari, for seemingly no reason.
anyone else had this at all or got any fixes??

First try this.... from your Safari menu choose "Reset Safari".
If that doesn't do it, try Safe Mode (It will take more time to startup in Safe Mode because it runs a directory check.)
If your browser functions correctly that way, go to System Preferences >> Accounts >> Login Items, and remove them. Boot normally and test. If not go to Users/(yourname)/Library/Contextual Menu Items and move whatever is there to the desktop. Then do the same with /Library/Contextual Menu Items. Lastly, try moving ~(yourHome)/Library/Fonts to your desktop and restarting.
Log out/in or restart, if that sorts it start putting items back one at a time until you find the culprit.

Apparently Apple has improved Safari's Java component to adapt better and I am no longer locking up on my trading charts.
By the way, listen for the next nut case terror threat from the flakey middle east, last time on March 23 the Spot Gold market sky rocketed 14,800 pips and ended May 11.
Apparently the nut cases over there invest heavily in currencies, gold and silver and then issue some threat, the market goes crazy and they become wealthy. One commentator on business news estimated that the nut case president of iran made over 20 billion on the last threat he made while laughing at the world. Interesting that only two or three nut cases have complete control over the entire world market.

Hi If you get an error message saying your flash is blocked by firewall or needs updating or similar and you just get the spinning colour wheel try this link
It takes you to Adobe which tells you which ver of flash player you have - you can then see if there is a later ver by clicking on the library and it automatically selects the correct version for you to download.

Having problem with appletv iTunes Radio. Music stops, get spinning wheel, never restarts. If I switch to another station it plays immediately, but it too sometimes stops for the same reason. Wait for 10 minutes for it to restart, then switch stations again. I've tested my download speed when it happens it's fine.

Mac Mail 6 is missing the "spinning wheel" indicator when checking for new mail

Before updating to Maountain Lion, when cheking for new mail in Mail, there was a little indicator ("spinning wheel") next to the Inbox to confirm it was actually working.
Since updating to Mountain Lion, the indicator isn't there. It's not that much of a big deal if it doesn't exist anymore, but it was good to have, and if it's just a setting I need to turn back on, then that would be cool, if I could find it

for who is "expected behavior"?????, if you have 6 mails account with different domain or private domains this is NOT an expected behavior... why? this missing indicator work to know if your site or email client is up or down or slow, ok maybe a lot of people don't use this but, don't take desicions like microsoft!!!... looks like some ex-employee from microsoft has a very cool job on apple right now

Playback Not Working Choppy and Get Spin Wheel With Every Action

I have a MacBook Pro Running on Snow Leopard 10.6.5
Processor 2.4Hhz Core 2 Duo
4GB Ram
External Drive 1Tb-Brand New Files on it.
File Type Imported: .mov
When ever I try to playback it gets choppy, and Spin Wheel comes.
Whenever I click on anything im noticing the spin wheel appear.
I have been looking at various forums,,,trying everything.
Does anybody have the trick to get this thing to playback the clip smooth....
I used Final Cut Express on my MacBook, and I never had this problem ever.
Just upgraded to the MacBook Pro, and Final Cut Pro 7,,,and all types of issues.
Please is the answer out there?

You'll need to transcode teh H.264 to a more stable and useful editing codec. It's in the manuals and we see several H.264 questions every day around here so it's pretty easy to research.

Cannot play or "Get Info" for certain movies - just get spinning wheel???

I have all my DVD's on Apple TV in mv4 format for my daughter (this is not a thread about ripping them!) and everything has been fine. I have 3 AppleTV's I keep her stuff on and it also syncs to an iPod for the car. I'm not sure when it started but I noticed that some of my movies didn't have their artwork anymore. I tried the "get info" but all I get is a spinning wheel. I tried to double click to play and yet again, spinning wheel. The file is there but it crashes my whole system when I try to use it.
So, why one minute would everything be ok and the next some of my files are problematic? Any ideas?

You may be linked to an image (of auto opening font)that went corrupt, is there a comon image between them. If so put that image temporarily in a folder to break the link.
Try making a new user account, or opening on another computer if you can. How do the file size look on the document, are the the size they are supposed to be?
Try resettting your preferences. Cmd-Opt-Ctrl-Shift when restarting AI on a Mac or Alt-Crtl-Shift on a PC to reset to the defaults.
Is the problem definitely associated to them being on the same date, or is the similarity possibly a job with similar fonts/images?

Upgraded to latest version, get spinning wheel of death

So I upgraded to the latest version of iTunes and now when I open it I just get the spinning wheel of death. Need to force close the app. Deleted it from the machine and reinstalled fresh copy, no dice. Searched the Internet, but cannot find an older version of iTunes to reinstall.
What do I do to get it working again?

Is your drive formatted for Mac OS Extended Journaled and you're still having a 30 second delay before recording? I've never encountered anyone with that prob on a mac formatted drive. Many will recommend to format an external used for audio with Mac OS Extended, but with either Mac format you shouldn't be having this delay.
Also, make sure to go to System Prefs->Energy Saver, and untick the box that says 'put hard drives to sleep when possible.'

Firefox on Mac OS X gets spinning wheel after several days of use

I have the latest version of Firefox, 8.0.1 and Mac OS X. After running Firefox for several days to a week or more, Firefox starts to become really slow and I would get the spinning wheel for a few seconds when I click a link or click on a field box. Then I have to reboot my computer and it is fixed for another week or so and the spinning wheel starts up again.

What is the memory usage of Firefox when this happens?
You can check the on the about:memory page via the location bar.<br />
That page also has a button ant the bottom to reduce the memory usage.

Random Lockups when browsing the Web.

When I am browsing the web on my MBP, I randomly get the spinning rainbow disk. It happens in Firefox and Safari. I have nothing Else Running.

Hi, I don't think there's any way to solve the issue of the Browser running out of memory.
Some tips that might help:
- Disable loading of images (this will save lots of memory) you can then load the images just in the page you want by going to options Show Images
- Try to go directly to the page you want to access. Every page you open will be chached into memory so by going directly to the address you want it will save memory.
- Close the pages you no longer need. Many times the browser will open additional pages (a small number in the top bar will show the page number) if you don't need to keep the other pages open close them.
- Everytime you move away from a page that has loaded go to options and manually clear the cache. The cache of images is actually stored in memory and that causes some of the problems by deleting the cache you can free up memory but if you use the "back" it will have to re-load the page
- Use the "Services" browser. This is the WAP browser, so the pages don't look as good but uses less memory.
I hope this helps, it has helped me get through many pages before it runs out of memory.
