Getting started with Learning Management

I am just starting with learning management implementation in R12.
Can anyone tell me what are the responsibilities for learning management ?
Does Learning Management require separte licence? We have Oracle HRMS and Self-Service already implemented in our system.
When I use the responsibilities
1. Oracle Learning management Administrator
2. Learning Administrator
I see only Reports and Other Requests menu and Submit Report and View report function inside it ? I am not able to see the Catalogue, Resources, Setup functions inside the above two responsibilities.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
Thanks,
-Deb

Hi Deb,
Further to the other responses -
You need to use the responsibility Learning Administrator.
When you go into User Management assign the role of Learning Administrator to your user (make sure you pick the one which has the code UMX|OTA_LRNG_ADMIN)
In Learning Management, the role control what a user can see and do.
You can link the Responsibility to the Role (this will mean that when the Resp is assigned to the user, the Role will automatically be assigned).
You do this in User Management. Find the responsibility 'Learning Administrator' (code =FND_RESP|OTA|OTA_LEARNING_ADMINISTRATOR|STANDARD) and click 'View in Hierarchy'. Then click 'Add Node'. Search for the role Learning Administrator (code UMX|OTA_LRNG_ADMIN) and click 'Quick Select'.
Hope this helps

  • Getting started with identity management . . .

    . . .  at least I think that's what I'm asking about.
I've worked quite a number of years in the Oracle database world, but this is really my first foray into Fusion Middleware, or Identity Management, or whatever I'm looking for is called.
We are looking at tightening our user security by tying our database usernames/logons to Active Directory.   The immediate issue is that we have various people connecting to the db with each other's credentials.  I know this is at least partly a management issue, but the people doing the sharing are themselves managers.  And for the most part I don't think they even realize they are sharing credentials.  I think most of it comes from sharing Excel spreadsheets with external data connections to the Oracle database, and their credentials are hard-coded into the connection definition.  So when Bob gives a copy of a spreadsheet to Carol, he doesn't even know his personal credentials are built in and that  when Carol uses her copy of the sheet, she is connecting with his credentials.
What we'd like to do is tie their database credentials to their network credentials.    At this point I'm not knowledgeable enough to know if that inherently means single-sign-on  something short of that.  And at this point I'm not sure I care about that distinction, but I at least want to keep the distinction visible.
Since my "home" is the database forums, I've asked around there and been given some links to various docs and MOS notes, pointing back to more docs.  Mostly simply under the umbrella of 'you need to use Fusion Middleware'.  which is why I am coming to this forum.   It is quickly reaching a point of "you've got to understand it all before you can understand any of it".  In other words, I'm not finding a good starting point to get any traction.
Currently I'm trying to get my head around "Oracle Fusion Middleware Installation Guide for Oracle Identity Management" and still getting lost in all of the different components.
When I go to look at downloading software to try (Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Software Downloads) , it looks like what I want is Identity Management, but I'm not sure if I've even followed the correct trail to get to that point.
When I go to the online store to get an idea of what actual product we will need to purchase (https://shop.oracle.com/pls/ostore/f?p=dstore:2:0::NO:RIR,RP,2:PROD_HIER_ID:4509956172801805720011), again, I'm not sure which product I should be looking at, or if I've even followed the correct trail to get to that point.
I'm not sure how the version numbers work and how they relate (if it matters) to the database version numbers.  FWIW, my databsaes are all Standard Edition 11.2.0.4, with some on Linux and one prod/test pair on Windows.  We are looking at moving to 12.1 in the next 12 to 18 months.
I know this is all rather vague, but at this point I don't even know enough to ask a more focused, intelligent question.  I'm hoping someone can see what I'm after and help be get on the right track -- and cut through the forest of Fusion Middleware stuff that I don't need to be concerned with.

    Hello Ed
Oracle EUS is basically what you need at this point. It enables you to address administrative and security challenges for enterprise database users. Enterprise User Security (EUS) relies on Oracle Identity Management infrastructure, which in turn uses an LDAP-compliant directory service to centrally store and manage users. The components you will need are mainly OID and/or OVD depending on your use case
Here is an excellent online doc explaining the EUS integrations

Here's some more reading on EUS from Oracle

  • Error, in Getting started with Labview. Chapter 3, part 4.

    Hi.
Still struggling on, trying to find the time to work through the "Getting Started with LabVIEW" document.
Only 19 days left to go, and I'm still only in chapter 3!...
Right.  In the "Saving Data When Prompted by a User" exersise, part 4...
    4.   Right-click the Signals input of the Write To Measurement File
Express VI and select Insert Input/Output from the shortcut menu to
          insert the Comment input.
Problem is, that option is greyed out, so not available!...
I did what the instructions said, I right clicked on the "Signals" input, and it doesnt do what it says on the tin!
Any pointers?   Please don't mention search the help, I've crashed the entire LV environment 3 times now, trying to search for something in there.  It's OK if it finds someting, but it seems to bomb at times, when there is some ambiguity when searching.
Also, I won't be able to do anyting with any replies for a day or two, as I have to go up country to a customer, and mess about with hot oil, high volts, and lots of RF.  It never ends.   (I've still got the day job to do, while trying to fight my way through this "evaluation".   30 days of "Use" would be better, than 30 calendar days for some of us.)

OK... Who let the smoke out?

    Hi Dennis, and everyone else..
That is not how it looks when first dropped on the BD.  On my machine, it is partialy expanded by default, after you clear the Configure dialog that pops up ocupying most of the screen.
Again, if it makes a difference to the way the Right Click shortcut menu works, it should be documented in the Getting Started document, especialy as it seems to be a critical point.
    OK, explain this...
I've just rubbed out the save to file VI, cleaned up the broken wires etc, and then planted a new one on the BD.   Once I cleared the Configure dialog that covers up most of the screen before you see it the first time, the VI was partialy expanded.  I forget the exact list, but "Signals" was not at the top.
I did *EXACTLY* the same again, deleted it, cleaned up, and then planted a fresh new one.   That DID appear that time with nothing but the "Signals" item showing, and two down caretts below that, indicating more items.
    So......
Why the different behaviour each time, on the same BD, in the same session.   Some underlying working data not being correctly initialised when invoked?  Of course, that never happens, right? ('C' programmes eh?)
Trying some more, it seems the behaviour loosley depends on just how close to the edge of the While loop grey border you place it.   Odd.   I have a 1280x800 screen to play with, and a 1280x1024 second screen I use for the Getting Started document.  That is the absolute maximum I can have, due to hardware limits.
I also find, that if you fully expand the "Write to Measurement File" VI block, then fully collapse it, then expand it again, all the items in that list have changed places!  Why?
I had noticed earlier that there is no uniformity in the layout of even the items common to many if not all VI blocks (error in, and error out to name but two) Sometimes one is above the other, sometimes the other way round, sometimes they are not even ajacent to each other.   Has that been done as a source of minor ammusement or something?
Talking to another colegue here, who just wandered in to see how I was getting on with this.  Seems he also has tried the introductory entry into LV (V8.something) in the past.  But he too, found too many things that behaved differently from one time to another, so abandoned it as a lost cause, then decided to learn how to use Visual Basic with NI-GPIB IO instead.   Not without issues either he said, but at least it all behaves exactly the same, each and every time.
    End of the day now...
    Regards.
    Dave B.

  • Getting started with SAP Netweaver

    Hi there,
I am an IT professional with 7 years of development/project management experience in MS technologies.
I want to learn SAP Netweaver, but very new to SAP!
What is the Pre-requisite to learn Netweaver? Should I know ABAP to get into the Netweaver platform?
Please advice me and provide some useful materials to getting started with Netweaver.
    Thanx.
    Aslu

    Hi Aslam,
there was a recent thread about a similar question of yours, please check out First time in  SAP  Netweaver
There are so many NetWeaver components so your question is a bit hard to answer.. But if you want to keep on programming, you really don't need ABAP much. NetWeaver is mostly about Java (Web App Server & Enterprise Portal programming), but you have touching points to both .NET and ABAP.
    Hope this helps,

  • Getting Started with Flex 2

I played with Flex 2 beta 3 a while back, then got pulled off
into other things, and am now back to looking at Flex again and
thought I would go through the getting started lessons (on
    http://livedocs.macromedia.com/flex/2/docs/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/wwhelp.htm?href=00000138 .html).
I got to the second page and immediately got stuck.
Step 1 reads: "In a text editor, open the
data-management-config.xml file located in the WEB_INF/flex
directory of the samples web application. "
OK, where is this WEB_INF/flex directory located? And what is
the "samples web application" that is being referred to?
I THINK I found the right file, but in step 2 it says:
"Directly above the text <destination id="contact">, make
sure the following destination definition exists. "
The quoted text does not exist in the file, but the
definition it further explains to add already does exist.
So move on to the next page and it says to "...create an MXML
(text) file that contains the following text and save it as
lesson1.mxml in the DSLessons directory of the samples web
application." There's that samples web application reference again
    - where IS that?
Oh, well THEN it has a link to a "Before you Begin" section -
maybe there are some answers in there! I click on that (why isn't
it in the index on the left?) and it takes me to a page suggesting
I do a few things. One of the things it says is, "Create a
DSLessons directory that is a subdirectory of the samples directory
of the samples web application. "
OK, well, dammit, now I'm frustrated! WHERE AND WHAT IS THE
SAMPLES DIRECTORY OF THE SAMPLES WEB APPLICATION?!
Is it wrong of me to assume that a "Getting Started with Flex
2" document would provide some foundational information that is not
based on assumptions of prior knowledge of the inner workings of
the very product I'm trying to get started with? This isn't even my
first time playing with Flex! In fact, I was hoping to find some
good step-by-step introductory material that would help some of my
coworkers learn a bit about it.
    Where can I find some?

OK, apparently the primary source of my confusion here is
that some link I clicked on (I thought from a readme file, but I
can't find it again) took me to the aforementioned page in the
livedocs and did not display any corresponding topic open in the
left column, so I assumed I was on the first page of the getting
started section (especially since I was actively looking for a
getting started section when I wound up here). I have discovered a
more usable thread in the livedocs and am now a happier
    camper.

  • Can not get example to work after following instructions given in "Getting Started with the NI LabVIEW C Generator" guide

We explored using sbRIO for our project, for different reasons we ended up going with a different embedded solution . We are currently evaluating the LabVIEW C Generator to convert some of the core analysis routines from LabVIEW to C so the team that will be creating the embedded solution don't have to re-implement them from scratch.
Before converting our code, I followed the instructions given in the "Getting Started with the NI LabVIEW C Generator" manual to create a static library created inCygwin using GNU Compiler Collection (GCC).
I managed to compile the code, but when I type "run GCD.exe" in the Cygwin console, I just see the window flash with no time to see if the result is correct or not. I modified the main.c cde to add a getchar(), but the window still just flashes and now I am left with the GCD process still running and have to kill it using Windows Task Manager.
Has anyone else got this example to run? I am sure I am missing an obvious setting or step, please help me.

    Hi Kevin,
I hope you had a good Thanksgiving. I am attaching a zip file with the LabVIEW project, my build specification and my version of "Greatest Common Divisor.vi", which should be the same as the one that you have that ships with the LabVIEW C Generator, but just in case. I am also attaching a zip file with the C files generated by the LabVIEW C Generator.
You can also see the video I posted earlier with the steps I followed. I hope you are able to point out where I went wrong.

  • FAQ: How do I get started with Photoshop Elements Editor, or What do all these tools do?

Opening an image editing application for the first time can be intimidating. The more powerful the tool, the more complicated it can be to learn to use. Below are a list of resources to help you get started with the Photoshop Elements Editor.
I just bought Photoshop Elements, where do I start?
There are a lot of directions you can go when you first make your purchase. Here is your first roadmap.

    Hi Christoph and WarriorAnt,
Thank you both for the replies.
I don't know anything about GarageBand because I've never used it. I've never used any music software before, (other than iTunes, Ha!)
I don't have GarageBand on my Mac because it wasn't stock on the old Powerbook G4, so I would have to buy it. I'm happy to do that if I can figure out that it does what I want ... but I'm overwhelmed by the info at Apple's site. Too much for a beginner like me. Even the wikipedia.com entry for GB uses too many terms I don't know, so I'm easily lost.
I just want to be able to set up drum loops and play along with them. The main thing is that I'm able to use third party loops. There are so many really amazing loop products out there ... jungle drums, acoustic jazz drums, lounge, etc. I don't want to get caught up in anything proprietary (like Band-In-A-Box) because the selection is limited. I'm sure GarageBands loops are great, but I want access to all these other third party loops as well ... loops that were not specifically made for GarageBand.
Will GarageBand let me drop in any and all drum loops from these other companies?
And does GarageBand work like a basic sequencer, where I can program up an intro, X number of measures of a loop, then a turnaround, then a variation loop, then an ending, etc?
I know the high-end stuff like Native Instruments Kontakt does this, but unfortunately it also does a kazillion other professional-level things I will never need and don't want to pay for (and which make the software more complex and daunting).
Thank you again, both of you, for responding and helping me with this project.
Just a little more advice on those two questions would really go a long way.
    -JOHN

  • How to remove "Get started with your site"

    Hello,
I am in the process of automating the creation of a site collection using PowerShell. Everything works fine but I would like to remove or hide the "Get started with your site" that we see the first time we open a site. Deactivating the Getting
started feature will not remove it.

For other readers, here's the full script needed:
    # First, get a reference to the target web app:
    $web = Get-SPWeb "[TargetSiteURL]"
    # Assuming that 1) the web page file that you want to examine is
    # the default landing page and 2) Publishing has been activated
    # for the containing site collection, the following gets you a
    # reference to the web part manager:
    $wpm = $web.GetLimitedWebPartManage("pages/default.aspx", [System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts.PersonalizationScope]::Shared).WebParts
    # Note the "pages" in the path. Next, the following lists out
    # all web parts on this page:
    $web.GetLimitedWebPartManager("pages/default.aspx",[System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts.PersonalizationScope]::Shared).WebParts
    # Review this list, and then identify the PartOrder of the web
    # part you want to remove. It its, say, its "5", you get a
    # reference to web part like so:
    $wp = $wpm.WebParts[5]
    # Now delete the web part:
    $wp.DeleteWebPart
    # and close the web app reference:
    $web.Close()
It's easier to remove the web part directly from the page, while it's in edit mode, but then the scripted method also works when automation is needed.

It's not a problem with templates.
You have to create a site for your website - F1 will show you
    how to do
that. Once you have a site created, you will be able to
    create new template
files, and they can write themselves to the correct part of
    the site.

  • Getting Started with Wireless: Wireless configuration on 877W router - STUC

Just letting you know that I've already posted an identical post under "Getting Started with Wireless" but don't feel that I'm getting any attention so I made another post. Thank you.
    Hi all
I have a Cisco 877W router running IOS v 12.4(15)T3. Have been trying to configure wireless to run WPA-PSK and is stuck at the final stage. Spent a lot of time configuring the router using CLI but ended up using the Web GUI interface. I was able to configure the wireless settings (I think) but failed when connecting to the router from WinXP-SP2 and was wondering if you have any suggestion for me. I've ran the following debugs on the router:
    VNRouter#sho debug
DHCP server event debugging is on.
    dot11:
802.1X module WPA/WPA-PSK/CCKM key management debugging is on
    dot11 Syslog debugging is on
Below is the error message when connecting wirelessly

I've created two VLANs (and tied these two vlans to 2 separate SSID) on this router for a reason and so far has not been able to connect to any of them (SSID). I've also attached the config so you can have a look. Thanks in advance for your help.

The configuration looks fine. In most cases, the connectivity issues with WPA-PSK is due to the mismatch in PSK on the Client and the AP. Try re-entering the PSK key on both the router and the client and check if you are seeing any issues.

  • Getting started with virualization with one pc

How do I get started with virtualization? All the tutorials assume you have multiple servers on which you load the hypervisor client and then control with the hypervisor. I have one PC (Nice two xeon cpu, 12 GB, lots of storage, etc). I would like to use
it to create virtual machines so I can have Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 all running on virtual machines contained within the one physical server. It all seems overcomplicated and all the tutorials jump right into multi-server environments.
I would also like to able to later add Windows 10 when it is released.
Maybe this is just not possible, but if not, then please tell me and I will just set it up to boot multiple OS versions.
    Vern
    vernonls

There's no difference if you have multiple servers. Creating and installing a VM works the same way.
    1. Create the VM container
    2. Mount your installation media
    3. Start the VM, boot of the installation media
    5. Install the OS
Not sure where you looked, but there are dozens of Hyper-V tutorials that don't involve multiple servers.  Here are a few Bing returned:

  • Hit brick wall with "Getting started with DW"

Hi Guys, i am totally new to web design and DW, working
through the "Getting started with DW" under the “help”
banner seemed o.k at first until one leaves the comfort of table
design, once into the css and xml the environment the Getting
started tutorial is very shake and waiting for a reply from DW
would test even the patience of a Buddhist monks.
Can someone please recommend a good book/video/dvd or is it
best just to ask questions on this forum, it does seem faster than
    DW.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Bal

To be honest with you, the very best way to get started is to
    start with
HTML and then CSS. A week or two spent learning the basics of
    both of these
will make DW seem like a walk in the park afterwards.
    Ask your questions here, though....

Is there any ATG plugin, which I can download all the plugin for eclipse and please can anyone help me if there is any ATG configuration documentation available, please share link or document(if there is complete step-by-step documentation available).
I will greatly thankful to you. Very very thanks in advance.

    Hi GarethR,
I have a looked on ATGInstallationGuide.pdf, which url it shows is not working http://www.atg.com/eclipse. I think the url for ATG plugin has been changed now but I didn't found that url on google. Can you please help me to get correct url.
When I try to use this url using eclipse update manager. It shows me no features available for this site.
    Thanks,
    Manveer
