Getting strange messages on console

My new external HD suddenly began running continually.  Curious, I opened the console and am getting this message repeated over and over and over:

I ejected the drive, shut the computer down, waited a bit, pressed the power button and held for 5 seconds then released it.  Pressed it to start, got the tone and then did the CMD-OPT-P-R thing.  Plugged the drive back in and it's off and running again.
This drive is a 3TB LaCie Porsche which I partitioned into 2 segments.  One for extra backups and the other to use with Carbon Copy Cloner.  It has been fine until about two days ago when it just decided to spin its wheels indefinitely.
I'm wondering if my iMac is using it to write logs to since there's so much room there and my internal HD is about maxed out.  I just checked and there's only 18GB available on that drive.
anyone?

Solved!!!
I found an old discussion that said to delete any references to unwanted applications from
            /library/launchdaemons
            /library/launchagents
In my case, there were a couple of Adobe files from when CreativeStudio was installed.
Removed the files.
Emptied the trash.
Rebooted.
No more unwanted console messages...YAY!

  • Not getting any messages at console (Developer studio)

    hi all,
I am doing a web application project.
Here i created a java bean class for the database connections etc..
I created WAR file and EAR files also. Deploy to J2EE Engine is successful.
I created jsp file as front end to insert the values into the Database. When i'm running the web page i didn't get any messages (System.out.println()) in the console.
How can i start the server in the Developer studio?
    Please guide the steps....
    Thanks,
    Raghu

    Hi,
As far as i know when u deploy your ear in the J2EE engine it will be available.. You dont have to start any server.
IF u have a JNDI name you can direct lookup the bean.
And about system.out.println we cant see the ouput in webpage ! Try response.getWriter().println()......
Elobarate on ur scenario .. and it will be easier to help !

  • Strange message in console after upgrading to ML

    Hi!
I recently upgraded my system to ML. The operation went fine and the only issue I had was that VMware fusion stopped working, as it was outdated. Everrithing seems to be working nicely well, indeed much faster than OS X 10.7.4. However I'm getting the following error message in console log and have no idea what the reason could be.

The console log is much larger, this messages will repeat ciclically no matter what applications I'm using, numbers between brackets will vary (I can't see them in activity monitor so I'm not sure if they're PIDs)
    Things I've done until now:
    - Looked for corrupted preference files
    - Repaired permissions and searched for wrong preferences files.
    - Cleaned the system from potentially troubling user agents and daemons
    - Removing third party apps from launch at login
    Any clues?
    Thanks.

I looked at my own logs after reading your last post.  I note all sorts of incomprehensible (to me) messages - some indicating errors.  I have no clue what the sandbox messages indicate.
The other problems could be caused by a number of things - including hardware problems.
You might try resetting the PRAM and SMC.  Those are not cure alls, but they cannot hurt anything either.

  • I get 3 messages in console every 10 seconds

A few days ago, i noticed a process running in my task manager. Something along the lines of, "Seagate data manager". The reason it was there is because my friend installed some software that would let us use his Seagate hard drive (it would not work on a mac without it). I was annoyed that this process was running on start-up years later when i did not need it any more. I searched though my Mac and found no apparent way to uninstall it, so i decided to find every file that had the word "seagate" and delete it. Probably not my brightest moment, i know, and technically it worked. I dont see the process running any more, but now i am seeing the fruits of my stupidity as i get these 3 messages in console every 10 seconds from what i think is my Mac trying to launch the process, but cant find the files that i deleted. I deleted 2 files. I cant remember exactly what they were called or where they were from. I think one was from "Macintosh HD > Library" and the other was from "Macintosh HD > System". I know that one of the files had the icon that looks like a little white Lego piece (see attachment called "icon").
Is there anything i can do?
    here is what console says:
    4/18/12 9:09:01 AM
    com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[97]
(com.seagate.SeagateStorageGauge.plist[794]) posix_spawn("/Library/Application Support/Seagate/Seagate Storage Gauge.app/Contents/MacOS/Seagate Storage Gauge", ...): No such file or directory
    4/18/12 9:09:01 AM
    com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[97]
(com.seagate.SeagateStorageGauge.plist[794]) Exited with exit code: 1
    4/18/12 9:09:01 AM
    com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[97]
(com.seagate.SeagateStorageGauge.plist) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then either copy or drag it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” (without the quotes) and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
Copy or drag — do not type — the line below into the Terminal window, then press return:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}'
Post the lines of output (if any) that appear below what you just entered (the text, please, not a screenshot.)
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix)|edu\.mit|org\.(amavis|apache|cups|isc|ntp|postfix|x)/{print $3}'
This time, you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. You don't need to post the warning.
    Step 3
    launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|edu\.mit|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}'
    Step 4
    ls -1A /e*/mach* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts 2> /dev/null
Important: If you synchronize with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
    Step 5
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item' 2> /dev/null
Remember, steps 1-5 are all drag-and-drop or copy-and-paste, whichever you prefer — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
    You can then quit Terminal.

  • Getting strange messages and Logic won't open PLEASE HELP!

I haven't opened Logic for a few weeks because I have been out of town.
I just tried to open a project and got the message "logic pro has detected a possible conflict between one or more third party midi or audio drivers" and an empty project pops up with lines through all the plug-ins, etc...
When I try to simply just open Logic (NOT a project) Logic simply does not open and just sits there. (The little Logic opening window stalls on the "Searching for Audio Unit Plug-ins (Apple:AUbandpass)...)
    What could be causing this?
The only thing I have done recently on my computer that is a little out of the ordinary is drag the "Preferences" folder (User/Library/Preferences) to my desktop to try and fix another issue I was having on my computer, BUT I QUICKLY UNDID this action (with the undo function) before continuing. Could this have anything to do with my current problem? I have project I NEED to open now and I can't figure this out. PLEASE HELP!
Message was edited by: Jack Q

    UPDATE:
I was able to get Logic to finally open (sort of), BUT:
When I go to the Audio Units Manager it shows ALL the audio units as crashed, or "crashed validation" under the compatibility heading.
All the boxes are unchecked on the left. When I try to check any of them, it says in the grey window that pops up, for example:
"validating Audio Unit AUAudioFilePlayer by Apple:
    validation result: crashed validation
updating properties of AU AUAudioFilePlayer by Apple...done."
THEN a window pops up stating: "The application Logic Pro has quit Unexpectedly" and this happens every time I try this.
Also, every time I start Logic I get the same "The application Logic Pro has quit Unexpectedly" pop-up window, along with a Logic pop-up dialogue that reads: "You are using incompatible Audio Units. Dear Logic Pro user,
you have 1 Audio Unit(s) enabled which did not pass the Apple AU validation. This may cause problems and can even crash Logic Pro or lead to data loss! Please check with the manufacturer(s) for updated versions. We recommend disabling these plug-ins in the AU Manager." with the buttons: Start AUmanager or Ignore.
AND, even more odd, regardless of what button I choose Logic continues to open to the arrange window.
Is there anything I can try next? I am going insane over this...

  • Sleep issues and strange message in console

    Hi all,
For the last month or so, the only way to sleep my Mac Pro is via the apple menu, it won´t sleep automatically as programmed by system preferences. I have read other posts, and the only solution seems to be the use of PleaseSleep, right?
I also have this console message every time I wake the computer or display from sleep: "loginwindow[48]: in pamsmauthenticate(): Failed to determine Kerberos principal name"
Does anybody know if this could be related to the sleep issues?
    Thanks in advance

  • Strange message when logged in to bpel console

    Hi All!
I just installed bpel on my linux machine. After starting the bpel server and logging into the console I saw this strange message:
    Cannot find instances.
An attempt to fetch the instances using the where condition " ( ci_state = 1 OR ci_state = 2 OR ci_state = 3 )order by ci_modify_date desc " from the datastore has failed. The exception reported is: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist.
Please check that the machine hosting the datasource is physically connected to the network.
Also I created a pl/sql helloworld webservice, and a bpel process to invoke it through a partnerlink. After deploying it to the default domain I see only name of the bpel process in the deployed processes list unlike both the bple process name and the webservice name.
The linux flavor I am using is fedora red hat. The database is oracle 10g on the localhost itself. The bpel version is 10.1.2.0.2.
What could be the cause of these problems. I feel the second problem is because of the first problem that is there. Any suggestions and solutions please.
    Thanking in advance,
    Regards,
    Deepika.

    Hi All!
Ran the script for the view generation. Found it in domain_oracle.ddl. Granted dba privilege to orabpel to execute the script. Redeployed the bpel process. Now no error is there and the bpel process works fine.I think to successfully install bpel on linux box orabpel needs admin privileges.

  • Strange alert every time I get a message

Every time I get a message, I hear a strange noise. It doesn't matter if my skype window is active or not, it will make the sound (usually I get a different sound only when skype ISN'T active)This tells me that it's obviously linked to skype somehow, since it's only when I get a message... but I can't find why it's doing it. It's not any of the sounds I have mapped in my skype sound settings either. I even clicked "reset to default" on those and I've restarted skype. The sound is very annoying and I'd like to just remove it but I don't know how.

Can someone close this, since I found the problem. I don't see any options for that on my end. I had linked my skype and hotmail accounts, so my hotmail tab (which was always open) was giving me an alert as well.

  • Why do I get this strange message from Adobe on my MacBook Pro?

Why do I keep getting a message that says something like "we want to share the space in your computer"?  Since the message said it was from Adobe, I removed an Adobe file. Now the message is gone, but I cannot open various programs that tell me I need that Adobe file to read or open certain programs. What do I do?
