Getting Stuck: OpenGL on Macbook !

I'm on a white Macbook 2Ghz/1GoDDR, and I just got the Photoshop CS4, especially because of the new features like the OpenGL rotating.
But at first Photoshop won't allow rotating because OpenGL wasn't enabled.
I went on Adobe for troubleshooting, and follow these instruction:
- Install the AllowOldGPUs plugin (It says: If the plugin recognize the display card capabilities to run OpenGL, then it enables it, if not, then It won't enable OpenGL)
- On PS I then go to Preference > Performance and I see my display card Intel GMA950 with OpenGL recognition and the option to enable OpenGL is available.
- I open a new template, draw few lines, and then try to rotate it, but I get the same error message from the beginning. I check back in Performance options, and the display card recognition has disappeared, the "enable openGL" button is greyed out again.
Why ? What can I do ?

I took a deeper look. If it is this machine (http://support.apple.com/kb/SP18) then you are out of luck even with driver updates. That video card only has 64MB VRAM and Ps CS4 needs 128MB min/ Ps Extended 256MB. Sorry to be the bearer of unwanted news.

  • IChat always gets stuck with my MacBook air

    Hi,
I switched from a MacMini G4 (leopard 10.5.3) to a MacBook Air 1.6ghz. Also I upgraded to 1 TB TimeCapsule. But when I try to do iChat video lately, i see after a minute a lots of frame drops and the the video becomes very slow and one minute more my machine start to beach ball and turns useless. After I wait for like 5 minutes, only option I have is then to reboot the machine. This is happening now a lot lately.
I'm currently using the Wireless connection
In the same room I have a MacPro and that one is also connected to the 1TB TimeCapsule, that one works flawlessly.
I also tried to use Skype instead of iChat and I see similar issues although not so bad that it crashes my machine. It just starts to drop. frames and audio gets back..
So far I have done following tests:
    • I visited a friend and uses his and tried it with Older Airport Express a/b/g version. I also had the same issue. (sometimes it is fine but after a few tries the same issues comes up again.
    I have more tests planned:
    • I'm now upgrading my TimeCapsule software to latest release of airport and also my system software to 10.5.4
    • I also went to buy the usb ethernet cable to see if that is gonna help
My Question does any one else has this problem?
    regards,
    Marc

    Hi,
I saw your previous post about ichat and Skype freezing after a short time in use. I have the exact same problem, the same way you described it.
I don't have the Macbook Air connected to TimeCapsule, etc..
I think it has something to do with a lack of system resources for processing the video...
Have you found a fix? What are your thoughts?
    Thanks..!

HI, I just got a Macbook Pro.  It's great but my mail doesn't work at all.  It will come up correctly, but take forever to download messages,  then won't delete them,  then won't save them to folders.  Then when I go to quit mail it's like it gets stuck between quitting and not.  I have to force quit, then restart my computer if I want to pull up my mail again.  How can I fix this?

If you just got your new MBP you have phone support from Apple (which is quite good) call them.  800-692-7753 tell the automated answerer "mail technical support" you'll have human quite quickly.  Hope this helps.

  • Everything is updated!!  iPhone, iPad, iTunes and MacBook Pro...  All I am trying to do is drag content from my iTunes Library to the devices.  iTunes gets stuck EVERY single time!  What usually triggers the Non-Sense is when I am adding a 2nd file!

Everything is updated!!  iPhone, iPad, iTunes and MacBook Pro...  All I am trying to do is drag content from my iTunes Library to the devices.  iTunes gets stuck EVERY single time!  What usually triggers the Non-Sense is when I am adding a 2nd file!
    Why does iTunes SUCK??
    1) Many items greyed out in the menu bar, for well over 2 years, maybe more!
    2) I Can't drag more than one piece of content from your iTunes library to any device (iPhone, iPad)
If you do it gets stuck for HOURS and HOURS in "Preparing To Update" and the little activity circle never completes, ever!!
I used to be able to drag over 1000 tunes, movies, etc. go have breakfast come back and it would all be on my device!!
Can't do it anymore, one song at a time, maybe an album at a time, or one movie, and that is it!!
If you do a 2nd item the other items stop loading and never continue!!
This is so BAD, I don't understand how they don't have this fixed yet!!
Please tell me I am not the only one!!
...and If I am tell me how to fix it!
    Very appreciated,
    Joe

  • Just moved from a PC to a Macbook Pro and now my Ipod Classic gets stuck on iTunes "syncing" even though I have it set to manual. Please help!

Please help. I recently bought my first Mac (a Macbook Pro 15-in Mid 2012) and my iPod classic will not work properly when I plug it into my computer and open the newest version of iTunes. It played just fine on my old PC with iTunes 10. I have not updated the software on the iPod since I bought it a few years ago and even if I wanted to update it I couldn't becuse once I plug it in it gets stuck saying "syncing with iTunes." Well, I have it manually set so that I can add/delete whenever I want. So I don;t understand why it is giving me  this message and getting stuck. I've looked around the web and tried to install iTunes 10 but because I have the newest version already installed it will not let me replace it with 10.
Does anyone know how this can be resolved?
    Thanks.

Apple doesn't call its portable machines 'notebooks' instead of 'laptops' for nothing - using a MacBook Pro in your lap can cause some burns on your skin, poor ventilation, etc. So use it on a hard flat surface - not your lap, pillows, bedclothes, etc.
As for burning a hole in your screen, you'll have to revisit the Apple Store and see how much they would charge for a new screen. It's likely to be a bit expensive.
And if you've Safari set to re-open tabs when you restart, you can disable this feature -> Safari-Preferences-General.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • New Retina Macbook Pro running mavericks gets stuck at one minute during setup when coping files via USB

Running setup on a late 2013 Retina Macbook Pro for the first time process gets stuck saying "Less then a minute remaining". Transfer is via USB from a clone of my drive on an external drive that is bootable from my 2007 Macbook Pro running 10.68. Have run disk utility on drive and fixed premissions in advance of running set up. Have had the same happen when I activate the new Retina Macbook Pro without running setup and then running Migration ***'nt later.

  • MacBook Pro won't start up. Gets stuck in Gray Screen

Ever since two days ago when I did a regular systems update of iLife, iWork and a bunch of other updates to my MacBook Pro, the thing wouldn't restart. It gets stuck in the gray screen and no apple symbol shows up.
Just on a chance, I turned the power off and the MacBook Pro continued to start up, and was fine. I'm wondering if because I didn't update to Leopard yet, there might be a conflict due to my recent updates, or maybe one of my peripherals is causing it to stall in start up? I have my iPhone dock, External Hard Drive, Apple LCD Screen, Mac Mini Style Hub, and HP printer plugged into the MacBook Pro.
This has ONLY started to happen when I recently updated in systems updater. It's happened 2-3 times. After I send this I will check it again, but I think I will have to AGAIN start using only the battery source and not plugged into the outlet.
Maybe installing Leopard will fix this problem? I am getting it fedexed in a day or two.
    What could it be?
    Help!!
    Thanks,
    Lainey

I haven't received Leopard yet, so haven't tried to install. It's when I use Software Updater. the last update is what I think is causing the stall.
I tried something though. When it stalled this last time, I pressed the LCD on switch on my 17 inch monitor, and then the start continued. Is there maybe a driver update needed for the 17 inch monitor now that I updated some softwarevia Software updater, or is that just me being paranoid?
Maybe the software updater installed stuff that needs Leopard to run properly. Once I install Leopard, I'll let you know how it goes. MEanwhile, I am going to try restarting a few more times.

Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

  • MacBook gets "stuck'

Once in a while [this has happened about 4 times in the past week] I am typing something to one of my friends in an email, searching google, and talking to a friend on iChat. Every once in a while my MacBook gets "stuck". Like my keppad wont move, I can't type anything, etc. Then my MacBook goes to sleep [I have it go to sleep every 5 minutes inactive].
Sometimes, I leave my MacBook on when I go out, so it obvioussly goes into Sleep. When I return I usually just give the keypad a few strokes and my login window shows up. No problem. But twice I can't get it back from being frozen. If I hit apple+alt the screen returns from being black into the login screen, but I can't log in since I can't use my keypad.
The only way for me to fix this, is hold down the Power Button to turn the MacBook off, and restart it. Now I don't like to do that just for letting my MacBook work. Are there any keys that I could try, in which this might happen again?

It happen to me yesterday. And I did try buttons same way like you.
For solution,I run OnyX,repair Disc permissions and hope it'll not repeat...
