Getting tap to click to work on my EEE 900

I have Synaptics installed on xorg server 1.5.3, and everything works except tapping to click.
I added these lines to xorg.conf in the synaptics InputDevice section
Option      "TapButton1"       "1"
Option      "TapButton2"       "2"
Option      "TapButton3"       "3"
And it doesn't help me.

It does work on my EEE900. I use the kernel-eee package, as described in the wiki page above. Perhaps you have a broken module?

  • Multi gesture and tap-to-click stopped working on Logitech touchpad

I have a Logitech TK820 that has been working great until I did a upgrade for about one week ago. Now multi gesture stopped working completely and also tap-to-click doesnt work.
Does anyone have any clue on what I can do to get it working again.
    Thanks

    hi,
thanks for your reply.  i haven't had time to deal with this issue since i wrote about it in october.
i found the 'properties' window for the touchpad mouse but there is no reset button.  i continue to have this issue and it is becoming more frequent although i have not been able to identify what triggers the sudden shut down of the tap-to-click function.
but something new has cropped up: when the tap-to-click stops working, the next time i tap the touchpad, the pointer goes to the Start button!  this happens every time.  i don't know that anything is different?
any further pointers (forgive the pun) would be most welcome!

Try the Firefox SafeMode to see how it works there. <br />
    ''A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons.'' <br />
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default Theme.)''
    * You can open the Firefox 4/5/6/7 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running. <br />
''Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in SafeMode."''
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.''
If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />

  • Tap to Click stops working on startup

Every time I start my MacBook Air the tap to click stops working. I can deselect and reselect the option from my preferences, but come on... who wants to do that every time you start your computer.
Is there any fix that anybody knows about? Even if there isn't, I still love you MacBook!

  • Magic Trackpad's One Finger "Tap to Click" Not Working in Login Window?

Magic Trackpad's *One Finger* "Tap to Click" Not Working in Login Window:
All of my iMac's accounts have *One Finger* "Tap to Click" turned on (checked) in System Preferences. However, in the Login Window where the user decides which account to login to, the Magic Trackpad's clicking ability does not work even though moving the arrow does work. How do I turn on the Magic Trackpad's ability to click in the Login Window?

After accidentally pressing down on the Magic Trackpad, I realized the trackpad has tactile feedback, that is, it is a big button that can be pressed down and pop back up like old computer mice. Though this will allow the trackpad to select the account I want to open in the Login Window, it still doesn't explain why "tap to click" isn't working in the Login Window. Nevertheless, my question can be considered as answered.

  • Tap to click not working properly in Mountain Lion. How do I get apple to fix this major issue with mountain lion?

The tap to click does not work with mountain lion as it did before the mountain lion install. I purchased a brand new imac in August of 2011 and got a wireless keyboard and selected the wireless trackpad instead of a mouse.  The trackpad worked wonderful pre upgrade with tap to click. Now after the install of the newest beast, I have to actually press the trackpad rather than a slight tap. I have carpel tunnel and this is causing great stress upon my hand. How do I get apple to fix this major issue with mountain lion?

Perhaps, I was not clear enough.
I have an imac purchased in Aug. 2011 which came with Lion 10.6 (two uprades before mountain lion)
Recently, I just purchased a macbook pro retina with Mountain Lion
On my imac, my settings allowed me to "tap to click" everything EXCEPT the initial log in at the star up of my imac, again running Lion 10.6
On my macbook pro retina which has Mountain Lion, I set up the "tap to click" option, but notice that a "hard" click was neccessary when trying to click things. I thought this was a macbook thing (my first one) so I went and upgraded my imac to Mountain LIon, BIG MISTAKE! Now both my imac AND my macbook only have limited "tap to click" options. Before mountain lion I could "tap" to highlight and select text, tap and drag, and many other thiings that Mountain Lion has disabled.
I am truly surprised that no one has noticed this MAJOR issue.
Is there a way to uninstall this update, similar to how on a PC you can go back to a restore point.
On another note even the way PREVIEW has changed is less user friendly, there used to be icons on the bottom right corner of the screen, now I have to double tap and select the option I would like to switch between contacts and thumbnails. This is really annoying and is causing me time when reviewing files.
Just in case anyone was wondering, I did go to system preferences -> trackpad -> select tap to click
In fact almost all of the trackpad functions have been selected.

  • Tap to click stops working (OS X 10.5.6)

I am getting exceedingly frustrated by the tap to click functionality stopping working on a frequent basis. When this occurs, deselecting and reselecting the option in System Preferences restores the functionality, but this usually lasts only a matter of minutes before needing repeating. Is there any word on a fix for this? I see some old threads talking about this, but with no official response or reason for hope.

It's another one of those intermittent bugs and will probably disappear with the next OS update. Since they don't announce what they fix and what they don't, it's really just a matter of waiting. Supposedly one more 10.5 update is expected before they release Snow Leopard later this year (10.6)
As to the number of people who use "tap to click" nobody really knows but I am going to venture a guess that it is very few. People are used to feeling the physical click of the touchpad and tapping goes counter-intuitive to the general kinesthetic "feel" people are used to.
I enabled "tap to click" and use it only when I need total silence in the room -- otherwise, I always press to click.

  • 2011 MBP click and tap to click stops working at random

I've got a two weeks old MBP 13" it's working perfectly fine most of the time, but I've noticed that sometimes (could be related to waking from sleep) "left clicking" or tap to click with the trackpad stops working.
Everything else works, swiping, secondary clicking and what not.
One way to make the regular clicking work again is by rebooting the computer. Sometimes though, this isn't enough, it might even take two reboots.
Then there are some situations when I'm up late working, and the trackpad fails on me and I'll just close the lid and go to bed, the next morning it might work just fine again.
Has anyone had these same problems with the new MBP? Should I try and get it replaced since it's a brand new computer?

  • How can I get my metronome click to work with 12/8 meter in Logic?

I'm trying to get my KlopGeist click to 12/8 music.
I can get it work with 4/4 and click on divisions set to 12th, but I cannot get truely 12/8.
It's ok to recore, but the notation is different.
Can anyone give me an answer?
    Thank you.

You can try some workaround like this...
Create an Arrange track for the Klopfgeist (instrument 256). Create a new (one bar) region and draw 4 dotted notes using pitch say G5. Select the region and set ins "Loop" parameter to ON in the track inspector. Done.
When you need Click you can Mute/Unmute the Klopfgeist track instead of tweaking the Click button in the Transport.
Another scenario can be done using the Environment click object and building a small Environment tool which can work with the Logic transport click etc.

  • 'Tap to click' not working in certain applications in Vista SP2

    System: Alu Macbook c2d 2.4ghz (late 2008)
    Bootcamp version 3/3.1 (Latest)
    Windows Vista SP2
    OS X 10.6.2
    OK, insignificant problem, but to explain;
I have the Bootcamp control panel installed in Windows Vista under Bootcamp, and for the last 5 months, all has worked perfectly. 'Tap to click' has never had any problems anywhere in Windows, or related applications.
For the last few months I have run a game, Championship Manager 01/02 under Windows XP, in OS X 10.6, via VMWare 2. No issues at all, other than it wasn't the fastest. Tap to click worked fine in XP, and in the game.
A few days ago I gave my disks of VMWare and Vista to a family member as I didn't need them anymore, and planned to delete them both from my system. I then booted into Bootcamp where I run Vista SP2, and installed CM 01/02 directly onto the Windows system.
All worked and installed fine.... other than in CM 01/02 only, 'tap to click' does not work at all! I have to physically 'click' the keypad, which *****, is loud, and is a real pain.
I rechecked in XP under VMWare, and it works there, so I reinstalled under Windows Vista in Bootcamp, and again, no go.
I am just wondering if anyone may be able to tell me why this would happen just in this one application, and how I can go about fixing it!
    TIA
    Marc

  • Two finger tap right click not working

Is anyone having a problem with two-finger tap to right click?  Two-finger tap to right click was working fine for a while, but it suddenly stopped on my Yoga 13.
I reinstalled the touchpad drivers, and it worked for a few days, then it stopped again.  Two-finger click still works fine.  So does one-finger tap to left click.
    Strange....

    Hi guys,

    0ttp16ww.exe
    113MB
    Windows 8 64bit
    16.2.21.3

it seems it fixes the two finger tapping issue.

  • Lenovo Flex 2 14#: Two-finger-tap (right click) not working on windows 10

On my new Lenovo Flex 2 (AMD A8) i have upgraded to win 10 but i cant get the two-finger-tap to work. It dint work in 8.1 either. I can scroll in browser with two fingers. In the synaptics software the feature is activated but i doesent work. I have read some of the other threads about fixing the problem in win 8.1 but the registry files doesent have the same structure/names on my win 10. What to do?

I am having the same problem... It's very irritating to have to two finger click all the time.
    Is there a solution?

  • HT4331 My "tap to click" stopped working

I've tried all the solutes (trashing preferences, new account, restarting bluetooth).  Nothing works.  HELP!!

I'm guessing you're talking about the Magic Trackpad.  If your profile is correct, you need to upgrade to a later version of Snow Leopard as trackpad support started with 10.6.4 and later.

  • Touchpad "Tap to click" misbehaves badly

The tap-to-click function misbehaves really badly for me (xf86-input-synaptics). It is mainly 2 problems:
When I move my mousepointer short periods of time (doesnt seem to go by distance, but it is in the range of 16px-64px depending on how fast I move) and then lift my finger of the touchpad, it reponds as a click.
When I tap-to-click on something that needs precision(a 8x8 button) I notice my pointer moves away alot, causing misclicks and irritation.
I am certain both of these are fixable (even if it requires some C-coding), since I get none of these problems in Windows 7.
PS. My touchpad has a really shitty design (you have to click on the touchpad itself really hard to press the mouse buttons) which makes "tap-to-click" pretty much obligatory.

  • Continuing tap-to-click problems

So, for brevity's sake, i've been having issues with the tap-to-click function on my MacBook Pro for three days now—you can read my previous post here.  The fix that was suggested worked—for the day.  I could shut down the computer, start it back up, and tap-to-click would work fine.
But this morning i booted up my computer, and, again, tap-to-click had turned itself off.  I went back into the Settings, enabled it...  And, just for kicks, went ahead and shut down my computer.  I boot my computer back up about 20min. later, and tap-to-click is still working.
So...the best i can figure is, maybe something gets screwed up when the internal clock sets to a new day?
Of course, i'm in the last few days of writing my thesis, so the MacBook couldn't possibly have picked a better time to start fritzing out on me.  I've racked my brain trying to think if i downloaded anything or otherwise did anything the day before this started happening, trying to think of what could be the problem, but i can't come up with anything.
    Any idea?

There is a suggestion in this page   right side of your question

    Hope it helps.
