Getting the Beachball at render .....

Hello all
For some reason LT keeps locking my OS at render ??
I have not really used LT on my new IMac till now so, I'm not sure what the problem is.
I noticed this yesterday , the first time it happened it locked up my OS for about three minutes, all I'm creating is text for lower thirds so, each clip is only about five seconds long ...
I repaired permission twice last night to see if maybe that would resolve this issue, this morning it did the same thing again.
I'm using LT 2.1.4 and, I don't recall having this problem with Tiger ..
Thanks for any help and advise ...

Perhaps you need to trash LT preferences:
Quit Live Type.
Click the Finder icon in the Dock, make it a list view instead of icon view.
Click on your Home Directory.
Click on Library
Click on Preferences
Drag the file named "com.apple.LiveType.plist" to the Trash
Then go to Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility
Select your system disk
Click on the Repair Permissions button
Wait for the permissions to repair.
Then Restart your computer

  • How does the TableCellRenderer gets the value to render?

    Hello.
    I use my own AbstractTableModel together with a table, and I keep the data to be displayed in my table model.
    I would like to render the table headers.
    My question is, where does the TableCellRenderer get the value to render from?

    I'm not sure I understand your question. Do you want to render a cell or the header ?
    Here's an example :
    DefaultTableCellRenderer lRenderer = new DefaultTableCellRenderer()
    //This is the method you want to overide
    public Component getTableCellRendererComponent( JTable aTable,
    Object aValue, //This is the value coming from the TableModel
    boolean aIsSelected, //Is your cell selected
    boolean aHasFocus, //Does it have the focus
    int aRow, //the row of the cell renderer
    int aColumn //the column of the cell renderer
    //Get the component from the ancestor
    Component lComp = super.getTableCellRendererComponent( aTable, aValue, aIsSelected, aHasFocus, aRow, aColumn );
    //Cast the component to whatever you want, a JLabel
    //forinstance
    JLabel lLabel = (JLabel)lComp;
    //Let's say the value is an integer
    //Change the icon according to the value of the
    //object retrieved in the TableModel
    if ( ((Integer)value).intValue() == -1)
    //You might want to put these icons in member variables
    lLabel.setIcon(new ImageIcon("MyGif1.gif"));
    else
    lLabel.setIcon(new ImageIcon("MyGif2.gif"));
         return lComp;
    Of course you have to set the tablecellrenderer to the JTable.
    I hope this helps !

  • Final Cut Pro3 won't startup, I just get the beachball!

    Can anyone tell me why my Final Cut Pro 3 won't startup under System OSX 10.3.9? It worked under 10.2.x but I haven't used in in a year or more and since upgrades to 10.3.9 the program won't startup. I just get the spinning beachball. I've re-installed it but still the same problem. Anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Jag11

    What updates have you done to your system in the last year? Anything that would make your system a compatible configuration no longer?
    While you mention that you've re-installed, have you specifically trashed your preferences for FCP 3? (Re-installing rarely tends to do much good on a Mac. Trashing preferences is usually a better bet. Not to mention a whole lot faster.)

  • I have an iMac and I keep getting the beachball or spinning wheel coming up It doesn't let me continue until it stops I also have to force quit it.

    I have started it in safe mode and it doesn't help. I have reinstalled it and that doesn't help. I love firefox and don't want to switch. Can anyone help me.

    Hello,
    '''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
    ''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
    ''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
    '''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
    ''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
    ''When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.''
    Thank you.

  • Do I have a virus? Everything is really slow and I get the beachball all the time

    Enen at startup I get the beach ball. iPhoto is the worst but opening any app is really slow. If I do any editing in iPhoto it takes forever to respond and the beach ball is spinning. Help?

    Delete all items in System Preferences > Users & Groups  (or Account) > Login Items
    Same for HD > Library > StartupItems
    And make sure there's enough free space on the startup disk.
    Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's at least 15% available space.
    Russell... when you post for help, please tell us which Mac OS X you have installed. Troubleshooting can depend on that information.

  • Upgraded from 1st gen Touch to iPhone 4S, now I get the beachball every time I connect the old iPod Touch

    I recently upgraded my verizon cell phone to an iPhone 4S, and had been using a first gen iPod Touch, which is still quite functional and I'd lik eto give it to someone else in the family to use.  The problem is that after the first time I connected the 4S, now iTunes will hang (spinning beachball) everytime I try to connect the old Touch. Auto sync is turned off. I've even tried to create a separate account to no avail.  As soon as I disconnect the touch, iTunes resumes normally.

    okay, this was too difficult for the masses visiting here. it was too difficult for me to figure out as well.
    Plan B -- if i want to start over, do i reinstall iTunes? do i reset my iPhone? do i switch the SIM card from the old iPhone to the new 3G? my 3G currently just gets stuck syncing contacts. if i turn contacts syncing off then it'll get stuck syncing calendars. if that get unchecked then it'll get stuck syncing mail stuff . . .and then bookmarks, etc. if i turn off contacts, calendars, mail, and bookmarks then the sync happens just fine with music and ringtones and other stuff.

  • Getting the Track to Render the Audio (Visually)

    Hey folks, quick question.
    So I was working on some audio earlier, and for some reason, halfway through, anything I'd import would be shown (and could be heard), but the actual waveform wasn't shown. I'd give it a ton of time, but nothing happened. It's odd that it'd just randomly do it, so I don't really know how to fix it. I've restarted the program, my computer, etc. Nothing works.
    Any ideas?

    Found video online from user showing 10.09 working and 10.1 not working. It's a bug.

  • "The previous attempt to open this movie failed, do you want to ignore it?" Whether i click yes or no I get the beachball of death.

    I have iMovie 9.0.9. The movie it says it has trouble opening I don't even have on the computer. I have tried searching for preference files and deleting them but they are not there. I have tried dragging iMovie projects onto the desktop, but the only one there is a generic "my first iMOvie project.
    Macbook Oro is about 3 months old, running OS X 10.8.5 (12F45).
    thanks anyone who can help!

    To delet the iMovie 9 preference file you fist have to make your library visible. See: http://osxdaily.com/2011/07/04/show-library-directory-in-mac-os-x-lion/
    This is the first thing to try.  If this does not solve the problem read on:
    iMovie 9 tries to open anything that is in folders called iMovie Events and iMovie Projects in your Movies folder and at the root level of any other drive or partition.
    You may have some corrupt file in one of these locations that is causing the problem.
    You can 'hide' iMovie Event and iMovie Project folders from iMovie by enclosing them in another folder so I suggest you do this with all your iMovie folders and check whether iMovie open OK when they are all hidden.  If it does then close iMovie, unhide one set of the Events and Project folders and open imovie again.  Do this wih prograessivly more sets of folders until you find the one with the problem.  You can then try removing specific events and project from that set in order to find the problem file.
    Geoff.

  • I cannot get Premiere CS5 to render. i still have CS3 on my computer and it works fine.  what to do?

    i have recently installed Adobe CS5 on my computer.  working in Premiere this week i cannot
    get the project to render.  the dialogue box opens and then nothing happens.  i still have CS3 on my computer
    so i tried it and yes it renders just fine.  should i unistall CS5 and install again or is there a known issue?

    Paralling the old "don't quit your day job", I'd keep CS3. It's the only version of
    Premiere that's been stable enough to meet production deadlines, at least for me. These newer versions have been a big waste of time, as they only work on
    some hypothetical dream PCs that Adobe tests on, not in the real world, as far as I can tell.
    I have CS2, CS3, CS4, CS5 working and stable on various machines and have never failed to meet any deadlines.
    Absolutely nothing special or "hypothetical dream machines" about what I use.  They were built simple, clean  and straight forward.
    I have never tried an "off the shelf" box though" ... and never would.

  • When I try to open a file with TextEdit, I get the spinning beachball and the file takes almost a minute to open.

    When I try to open a file with TextEdit, I get the spinning beachball and the file takes almost a minute to open. When I just start TextEdit everything is fine. Also when I log on with another account TextEdit works like a charm, even when opening an existing file.
    What I have done so far:
    checked permissions in Disk Utility
    validated all fonts
    deleted all canon printer drivers
    deleted all preferences
    Nothing has helped. Mail shows the same behavior as TextEdit. What else can I do? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    HI ..
    Open a Finder window.
    Select your user account on the left in the Sidebar. It has a small house icon.
    Now open the Library folder then the Preferences folder.
    Move the com.apple.systemuiserver.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
    Restart your Mac.

    Do you have 2 graphics cards in your system?
    You can check out your hardware profile using the "System Profiler" app which lives in the /Applications/Utilities folder ... you can also launch it from the Apple menu by choosing "About This Mac..." and then clicking the "More Info..." button. When the app launches you can choose Graphics/Displays from the Contents/Hardware list at left.
