Getting the day of the week from a given date help plz
private String getWeekDay( ) - return the correct week day given the day, month and year for this date.
I had given this an effort and got stumped, my inital thought was to use mods but any input would be helpful

Functional module to get the File from a given Directory

I am using a FM name 'subst_get_file_list' to get the file from a given directory but it is accepting only 40 Character length file only my requirement is to accept file name other than 40 char,

Check the Function Module Gayathri has given. ie. 'SO_SPLIT_FILE_AND_PATH'.
In the exporting parameter FULL_NAME , give the path name and in the importing parameter stripped_name , you will get the filename.

How to get the date of first day of a week for a given date
Hi gurus
can any one say me how to get the date of first day(date of Sunday) of a week for a given date in a BW transformations. For example for 02/23/2012 in source i need to get 02/19/2012(Sunday`s date) date in the result. I can get that start date of a week using BWSO_DATE_GET_FIRST_WEEKDAY function module. But this function module retrieves me the start date as weeks monday(02/20/2012) date. But i need sundays(02/19/2012) date as the start date. So it would be really great if anyone sends me the solution.

The simplest way would be to subtract 1 from the date date which you are already getting in transformation routine, but instead of doing that subtraction manually which might need bit of errort, you can simply use another FM to subtract 1 from given date.

NullPointerException - Cannot get the value from variable f_cashGiven
In SubCheckout.java (a POS), what I want is when Payment button (f_cashPayment) is pressed, the action "Cash" is performed, get the value from Cash Given (f_cashGiven), do the subtraction and post the value as Cash Return (f_cashReturn). The code is filled in actionPerformed. But I cannot get the value by using f_cashGiven.getValue() from VNumber class. It returns NULL. This should be quite straight forward, but I do not know what is wrong. Please help!

How can one calculate the number of days in a month from a given date?
Ex: If I pass 07/12/2008 it should return 31But your example doesn't meet the OP request. The OP wanted the number of days in a month where the month is determined by a specified date (paraprhased).
DimaCit gave two credible solutions that met that requirement. Yours just counts the number of days between two apparently arbitrary dates. -

I would like to know the week number of the year from a specified Date.
I dont know how to set the first day of week, and set the minimum days of a week.
I want to use Monday for first day of week, and at least 4 days of month in a week.
For example if its 1st, January is Friday, then the first week starts on 4th, Monday.

Instead of using the funtion module you can just write the 3 statements of code to get the first day of the week.
Its similar to the above one but instead of writing case statement you can achive the following.
data : w_res type i,
w_data type d,
w_res = w_date mod 7.
w_date = w_date - w_res.
write w_date.
This works.

Hello!
We have a report that display the data at a calendar week level. The start of the week currently show as Monday( retreived from FM - WEEK_GET_FIRST_DAY).
Is there a global setting in source system to change the start day of the week from Monday to Sunday? I can always make this change in the transformation but would like to know if there is a global option to make this change so the rest of the reports display the same.

the week parameter returns the year and week number. the last 2 digits give the week number.
