Getting the domain name of the Client PC using WebUtil
Hi Guys,
Is there a way I can find the domain name of the computer running the forms using webutil.
I use WEBUTIL_CLIENTINFO.GET_HOST_NAME to get the client computer name. I would also need the domain name.
Thanks!
Anand
Try this:
message(CLIENT_WIN_API_ENVIRONMENT.GET_ENVIRONMENT_STRING('USERDOMAIN'));I believe if no domain is defined, it will return the host name. Also, this obviously will only work on Windows clients.

How to get the domain name from the System
I need to get the domain name from the system in JDK 1.1.8
Any Ideas?InetAddress.getLocalHost().getHostName() will get you the name of the computer the code is executed on. If that isn't the "domain name" then perhaps you could give more detail about what "domain" you are trying to find the name of.

Hello,
I have been trying to help a friend who is having problems publishing her website. (She has done so previously using Mobile me)
There seem to be a couple of things wrong with the application,
1 if I drag the application icon onto the dock, it won't stay there
2 I wanted to change where her site is published to (she has bought a domain name and has a hosting service now) but when I click on the domain name I do not get the "site publishing settings page" so we can't enter the new details. All that comes up is the main page of her website.
I would suggest uninstalling and re-installing Iweb, to see if that clears the problem, but as Iweb came pre-installed with her Imac, I am not sure that we can do this.
Any ideas please?
she's using and imac 24 in (approx 4 years old) and running osx 10.5.8NO - not correct. Even if you are still using iWeb 08, you can still publish to another host and not MobileMe. You do this by selecting the option 'Publish to a local folder" and this will publish the site to your desktop and you can then use an ftp programme such as Cyberduck to upload your site to your host.
MobileMe will not be here after the end of June, so you will have to find alternative hosting. They are not taking any new subscriptions.
On new Macs, iLife 11 is pre-installed, but only iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand are included, not iWeb and iDVD. The Apple Online store is not selling the boxed version of iLife 11 any longer, so if you want to upgrade to iLife, then you'll have to look online at Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk for a boxed set of either iLife 09 or iLife 11. Both contains iWeb 09, which is what you would want. -
We use a Bluecoat device that must be authenticated on a time schedule, before a user can browse off site. This breaks the updater on Firefox if the end user has not yet authenticated.
I can add the Firefox update servers or domains to an exclusion list so the Bluecoat will not interfere. I need to know those names.
I did some network sniffing and noticed aus2-mozilla-org.geo.mozilla.com but I assume there are more.Maybe it would be easier to setup a local update server.<br />

How do I get IE to drop the domain name from authentication responses
All,
I have a number of internal www servers that run various non MS operating systems which are not tied to the windows domain in any way. They are secure www sites and require authentication.
When I connect to one via IE on a domain joined workstation or server (ie 8 & 9) I am unable to authenticate because I can not remove the domain name from the authentication credentials that IE is passing back to the www server. I get an authentication
prompt for user name & password with the domain pre populated.
How the heck to I get IE to NOT pass the domain name as part of the authentication process. I've tried putting .\ in front of the user name but to no avail.
Thanks,
Steve D.As you can see below, when you first attempt the auth it defaults to you domain user account... in this case win\username.
When you select use another account, you get the following with no means to remove the domain name which causes auth failure as this www server isn't a domain member and doesn't use the domain for auth.
How do I get rid of Domain: .... ???
Thanks,

How to get domain name for the userId?
There is a generic way to get userID
System.getProperty( "user.name" ).
In case of windows it's a name you login in.
Is any way in Java to figure out domain name of that particular user by Java code?
IgorYou can dojava.net.InetAddress.getLocalHost().getHostName()to get the name of the computer. But this will not give you the "domain name of the user". In Windows, for example, when I sign on to my computer, that user name only means something to my computer. There's no "domain", in the Internet sense, involved.

Domain name from the configuerd mail server
HI,
How to get the domain name from the mail server that i configure using java Mail..
Properties props = new Properties();
props.put("mail.smtp.host", mailServer);
mailServer has my mailServer name like email.something.com
in my application, from address is the one user sets.. if they forgot to set it and tries to send a mail then i need to send that mail with a default address like [email protected] where something.com must be the domain name.. so i juz want to know how to get the domain name.?
hope it is clear. can any of u help me out? There's no well-defined way to do this. The
simplest approach is to offer this as a configuration
option.
A more complicated approach would be to use
the host name of the mail server and look up
that name in DNS and try to find the DNS record
that tells which mail server to use for that host
name, perhaps stripping off elements of the name
until you find something. (And no, I can't explain
to you exactly how to do that.) -
How to change the Domain name of portal
Hi All,
We've developed an application using the WDA(Web Dynpro for ABAP) on BI 7.0 and in this we are displaying the BI reports as well. This whole appliaction works fine when we run this on the BI portal 7.0. But when we run it from the Enterprise Portal 6.0
the reports don't show up and it goes in the never ending loop. After research we found that this is happening because the
Domain names of the BI portal and the Enterprise Portal are not the same. And as per one of the SAP note the prerequisite for the WDA application to run on the EP portal is to have the same domain name on both the portals.
Now we are planning to change the domain name on the BI portal.
Does anyone let me know how and where we need to go and change this Domain name ?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards,
Alok VarmaHi,
first step is to configure your DNS server. There has to be a name resolution for portal.domain.tld to your portal server's IP address.
Right now I don't have access to Visual Administrator, so I cannot check if there is any domain specific configation to be done on the server side.
As for the SSO between your Portal and WDA: you'll have to recreate the portal server certificates and import it into the ABAP system.
The Logon Ticket MYSAPSSO2 has to be issued to the new domain by the portal! If not, your browser won't sent this cookie to the BI system and no SSO data will be transmitted to the BI system.

Need to see the domain name displayed at the admin console login page
I used to see the domain name at the console login page until I was running WLS 8.1 SP3.
Now that I have SP5 I am not able to see it anymore, I am curious to know what has caused this error.
If anyone has an answer , please reply .Hi,
For accessing any application outside domain you need to have Public IP of the server where your you have put your application.

XP client ping the domain name get resolve ip 127.0.53.53
I got a strange issues recently. We have many windows XP client in our company. Most them are working out of office.
So they connect our VPN to access the company resource. But last week (around 8.25), all the XP clients lost connections with our domain after they connected VPN. When I try ping the domain name, it got a resolved IP:127.0.53.53.
If I nslookup our domain name, it will get a correct resolved ip. Now It impacts all XP users' work. They can't use the outlook,
connect to the file share server.(windows 7 is ok, just XP get issues.)
Now my solution is: add our intrance dns(find it on the VPN network) to the local adapter.https://icann.org/namecollision

Need to the domain name and computer name in offline mode
Hi,
I can not able to login to the windows system, the password i am using is correct. But im getting error "the login method using is incorrect, please contact network admin". I forgot the domain name i set to login to the system. Now Currently i
dont have the recovery/windows7 disks. I have Unix in my machine as well. so i have mounted the windows7 parition in linux, and trying to find out the computer\domain name. so please suggest which file i need to search to get the details.
Thanks,
RaviHi Ravi,
If you want to know more information about domain name, please take a look at the following article.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc731265(v=ws.10).aspx
Based on my research, the computer name and domain name are stored in the registry key.
We could find computer name in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ComputerName\ComputerName.
And we can find domain name in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Domain.
Have you ever joined a domain?
If yes, please contact the network admin as mentioned.
And we can type Domain name\Username and then password to login.
If you haven’t, we could try to type Computer name\username(.\username) and then the password to login the computer.
Best regards,
Fangzhou CHEN

Changing the default domain name of the server.
I know this is not the correct title for the topic. but its the best word i could found on my voculabary.
here's my problem.
Im using Sun App Server 9. the server is installed in the local machine. for testing purposes client access from the local server is sufficient. I deployed a web service using net beans 5.5. My problem is that the WSDL file is generated (by server) uses a fully qualified domain name rather than localhost. for example it uses http://mlb.stdmlb.sliit.lk:8080. When i try to create a client using netbeans it tries to access the server using this address (the one in the WSDL) but the firewall denies access to port 8080. Therefore i want to use the server to use localhost rather than the long domai name. (at least http://mlb) Can anyone tell me how to configure this?
LahiruThese are the steps for changing domain name & IP address without reinstall
a) Stop the Gateway and Server .
b) Export the profile server database to a flat ldif file:
# /opt/netscape/directory4/slapd-host_name/db2ldif /temp/profile.ldif
c) Use awk, perl, or vi, to change every instance of the system domainname in the ldif file to that of the new system.
d) Import the edited ldif file into the profile server on the new machine:
# /opt/netscape/directory4/slapd-/ldif2db -i /temp/profile.ldif
e) edit etc/opt/SUNWips/platform.conf and change all the domain name & Ip address
f) edit /etc/opt/SUNWips/properties.file change the domain name
g) Start the platform server and gateway on the new machine.
