Getting the specifics of a date

Question

I am trying to get the specifics (ie Year and Month) of a date column but it is giving me an "invalid column name" error. Also, I have a static class (DBOracleCon) that runs all my database connections and I know simply String queries work fine, but the problem could be how I do the prepared statement. Thanks.     
query = "select The_Date, Primary_Code, Alternate_Code " +
"from Oncall_Detail where Position_Code = ? and MONTH(Oncall_Date) = ? and YEAR(Oncall_Date) = ?";
java.sql.PreparedStatement ps =     DBOracleCon.returnConnection().prepareStatement(query);
ps.setString(1, id);
ps.setInt(2, month);
ps.setInt(3, year);
rs = DBOracleCon.executeQuery(ps);

Hi Todd,
There are no Month() and Year() functions in Oracle.
you have to use extract(datetime) or to_char(datetime) functions to get the month and year from datetime fields.
so your query would be.,
query = "select The_Date, Primary_Code, Alternate_Code " +
"from Oncall_Detail where Position_Code = ? and EXTRACT(MONTH FROM Oncall_Date) = ? and
EXTRACT (YEAR FROM Oncall_Date) = ?";
