Getting things onto iPhone
Have made a few films for fun using iMovie. Saved the finished products as quicktime files. I drag and drop them into itunes and click Sync but am told that they are not valid files for Syncing. What can I do to convert them?
They are in .mov or .mp4 formats.
Thanks,
Highlight the iTunes version of the file and use the Advanced menu to convert it to the iPod/iPhone format.

I have a whole library of songs on my itunes library. I got them all on my ipod ok but I cannot get them onto my iphone.
Please helpHave you sync'd your iTunes library with your iPhone? Most of the time music etc. is grayed out for the iPhone/iPod if you have it set to automatically sync. The only time it's not grayed out is if you've checked the option to "manage music manually". That may be why it's not letting you move it over manually. However if you've already sync'd it I don't know why you'd be trying to move stuff over manually anyway.
You can also transfer items you bought on your iphone (like your iBook) to your iTunes library. Just click "File" then click "Transfer items from iPhone".
Good luck! -
Okay, so on the downloads area, there are two things that I want to get for my ipod. this first is the Ipda and the second i think is called moody. I have windows vista and I was wondering how I can get these two things onto my ipod becuase I was able to get other downloads that said the requirements were that you needed like one of the apples computers but I was able to get the program onto my computer just fine. so what do I do?
They are for the iPod but they do not load onto the iPod.
how would I be able to use these items if I have windows vista?
As noted, iPDA is Mac OS X only. You cannot use it if you have Windows.
Moody does have a beta version (0.1) for Windows available at their web site. -
TS4124 getting music onto iPhone from iCloud
I have one song that is "ineligible" to be uploaded to iCloud, I think because it's encoded at 64 kpbs. I have tried to re-convert it to an mp3, but only 14:09 of 33:07 ever comes over. All I really want to do is get it onto my iPhone. Help?
If your Mac can burn CDs, and your song is not ineligible because it is a "protected" track, try this in iTunes:
See: Re: iTunes Match Ineligible Tracks
Create a playlist with this song
Burn the Playlist as an audio CD
Reimport the CD to iTunes
Now the track should either upload or match. -
Task: get .mov &c video onto iPhone.
So far I have managed to DL a file converter that has made a (really lo res) mp4 file out of a mov file, which is now in a playlist on iTunes. When I synch the phone, the file doesn't show up. How do I get it to be recognised by the iPhone?
Searched for an answer and read the cryptic msg that Apple want you to have different file sizes?!
This should be a breeze and it isn't!Hi there, Try this. In iTunes go to "Video" tab in the iPhone summary. Click on "Sync" and "all TV shows" and finally try to sync again your iPhone. It should be there now. I hope.

Looking through the SDK it doesn't look like there is any way of syncing files onto the iPhone. You can request that a file be downloaded from a specified URL. That's not very user friendly though.
What I'd like to know is if there is a way of registering a file type to your app? e.g. pdf files open in the pdf viewer.
You can register different url types to your app as the lauchme sample code demonstrates. I see nothing for file types though. You can get PDF, and MS Word documents to your phone through emails. You cannot save them to your phone, you can just store them on it until you delete the message which contains this or these files. If you want to save PDF or Word files to your iPhone then you have to buy some application which can able to do this. iTunes App Store offers many good application. You can find easily applications by topics. Download the right application for you and through this save the file or files that you want to your iPhone.
And yes, iPhone support PDF and Word files, that means that you can watch or read these files on your iPhone. If you are curious about the supported files on your iPhone then look up the iPhone's User's Manual on the support page and see that. -
Currently to transfer a video onto my iPhone I have to select "manually update music" from my phone settings. Is there any other way to easily sync videos because manually updating my music is kind of a pain at times. Any help would be great!
You can manually manage music and videos or sync. You can do one or the other, not both at the same time.
When you have sync enabled, if you switch to manually manage music and videos, all music and videos available on your iPhone will be erased first. When you have manually manage music and videos selected, if you switch to syncing, all music and videos available on your iPhone via manually manage music and videos will be erased first.
If both movies were purchased from the iTunes Store, the movies should be available below the Movies section under the Videos tab for your iPhone sync preferences. If you want to sync instead of manually manage music and videos, deselect this under the Summary tab for your iPhone sync preferences. This will erase all iTunes content from your iPhone.
Follow this by selecting Sync Movies under the Videos tab for your iPhone sync preferences. Select the movies in the window below followed by a sync. -

Just bought an iPhone 5C. Bought ringtone from iTunes. It's showing up in the Tones file in iTunes media on my desktop, but it doesn't seem to be in the Ringtones part of Settings on the phone. I've tried syncing iTunes between the computer and the phone, but nothing happens. What am I missing?

How to get music onto iPhone 5s from itunes.
Got new iPhone 5s, I have iCloud and iMatch. All my pictures came back, but none of my music has synced to my new phone. It will show it syncing and then when it is complete, no music has shown up on my phone. The iTunes match has been loading for 3 hours on the "gathering information about your itunes library", but nothing has happened from there. I have updated itunes and my phone. Not sure how to get ALL my music!
Thank you to anyone who can help me out. You're welcome.

Is wireless the only way to get things onto iPad?
If I lose power, I want to be able to watch movies on iPadIII. I have movies stored on my MBP15 and my rMBP13 and also on a backup disk but the iPad doesn't have a USB. How can I transfer if internet is down? I want this so my mom (who is 85) can watch movies if we lose power. I will buy anything necessary so I hope you can help me. Thank you. :-)
You can sync the movies to the iPad using the cable. You don't need WiFi in order to do that.

!!!!!Hey kevyg3,
I was able to find an article that I believe will help you move your iTunes purchases from your iPhone over to your new computer:

You can connect the iPhone to any computer to charge it. Just be careful when doing so if the computer has iTunes installed. iTunes may pop up and ask if you want to sync the phone with the computer, which you won't want to do if the computer isn't yours!
Good to hear you got things sorted
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

I have two different email accounts/IDs because one of my account email's is no longer valid, therefore I am unable to verify it via the varification email. I can not use my current email/apple ID to change it to becuase it is set as my backup on the first account. So frustrating because I am now paying for two seperate iclouds and cloud music storage as well. Just bought my mac and I am having trouble getting music onto my iphone because the majority is on the old, non valid email address account but I have to use my current apple ID on my iphone.... any suggestions on how to not lose everything and have it all in one place would be great! Thanks!
You are going to need to change the email address you use with your old ID. Once you have got access to your old account you will then log into both accounts at the same time on your Mac and transfer your data to a single account. We can do this later, but need you to get access to your old account first.

I recently purchased songs from itunes via my pc and I dont know how to get them onto my iphone? When I click the sync button it says I will lose all the music currently on my iphone.. Help
If you're syncing with a different iTunes library than the one you previously synced with, then there is no way around it. You're gonna loose the old data. The only way round it would be to make sure that all the music files on your iPhone is also in your iTunes library. If you still have access to the computer with the old library, you could copy the files on to an external harddrive, and then import them into your new iTunes library.
If it is in fact the same library, then the music currently on your iphone, is also in your itunes library. Just make sure that the artists/albums/playlists, or whatever you sync contains these tracks, that you allready have on your phone and don't want deleted. What i do is, i create a playlist specifically for my iPhone, and i set it up to only sync with this playlist. Whenever i hear a track from my iTunes library or buy a new track that i want on my phone, i just drag it to this playlist and next time i synchronize, it's there without deleting anything else.
