Getting "This Connection is Untrusted" on certain known sites

I will get this error when accessing the following sites:
1. https://www.statefarm.com
2.https://www.cacert.org
I am using Firefox 22 on Fedora 19 x86_64 with Gnome DE
I have a 2nd system running Fedora 19 and FF 22 with no problems.

Check out why the site is untrusted (click "Technical Details to expand that section) and if this is caused by a missing intermediate certificate then see if you can install this intermediate certificate from another source.
You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.
*Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"
Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate".
*Click the "View..." button and inspect the certificate and check who is the issuer of the certificate.
You can see more Details like intermediate certificates that are used in the Details pane.
If "I Understand the Risks" is missing then this page may be opened in an (i)frame and in that case try the right-click context menu and use "This Frame: Open Frame in New Tab".
You can also check the certificate in Google Chrome (click icon in the location bar) as that program may be giving a more detailed error report.

hi vijaysampath, first please make sure that the date, time & timezone are set correctly on your system. if this doesn't solve the issue (or it is already set properly), a possible solution depends on different factors:
* what is the '''error code''' shown under ''technical details'' on the error page?
in case the error code equals ''sec_error_unknown_issuer'', please attempt to add an exception on the bottom of the error page in order to inspect the certificate like it is shown on the screenshot attached:

I get "This Connection is Untrusted" and hit the "I understand the risks..." but get no "add exception" option.

When trying to move address books to Yahoo from Gmail I get "This Connection is Untrusted." I click on "I understand the risks..." but get no way to add an exception.

You shouldn't get that error with such common sites.
You may need to install or update the mozilla-nss packages via the software update of your Linux distribution.

This started for me 1/17/2011 on the savingsbank.com website:

Saw in a forum someone else having this problem and they were told it had to do with their Date and time being off?? I've been on several computers, all with the correct date and time and they've all shown this Insecure Certificate statement on my bank site with Firefox and no other browser.

I've looked at the banking site with IE8 and it does NOT show me that "This connection is Untrusted" window. (please see attached screen shot of viewing the site with IE8) It opens fine and has "Identified by Network Solutions" showing on the address bar as it always does.
The latest version of Opera (not earlier ones) does show a problem with the website's security certificate.
We've contacted the bank about this, and they say there's no problem with their certificate but are looking into it.
My question remains, why only Firefox and one version of Opera claim this and NO other browser?

Please check the time/date on the PC. The ideal setting would be to '''Automatically synchronize ...''' in Date and Time > Internet Time.

Is that content loaded in an iframe?
You can check that via the right-click context menu to see if there is a "This Frame" item. 
If that is the case then try top open the frame in a new tab or otherwise check the Technical Details of the error message.

Cannot access any https sites, clock is OK, get This Connection is Untrusted error message.

All works OK on Chrome and IE, but Firefox just suddenly stopped access to https sites yesterday, e.g. Google, Facebook and Linkedin. Non secure http sites are OK though. "This Connection is Untrusted" is the error message and technical details are www.google.com.tw uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided. (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer). I've tried all the Mozilla support suggestions, clock (which was always correct), reset Firefox, etc. No change so far, I hope you can help fix this issue.

Mac users get "this connection is untrusted" message although I have an SSL cert

I have a new ecommerce website for which I paid to have an SSL certificate. Mac users browsing in Firefox are getting a "This connection is untrusted" message. Users are offered a "Get me out of here button" or can click on "Technical Details" or "I understand the risks". Most choose to get out.
Mac users can browse in Safari with no problem, PC users don't have the issue in any browser, including Firefox.

Firefox Nightly keeps bugging me with "This Connection is Untrusted" on every single site I visit

So I am trying out the new FireFox Nightly, as it was suggested by a friend to me. Now I am liking it at first, but when I remove all my old FireFox stuff (completely uninstalled as there was alot of useless junk/plugins/data that I wanted gone) I am now getting this "This Connection is Untrusted" message on every single site I visit! Hello Rykuu, also, check the time and date of your system, if the date and time on the computer are wrong then security certificates may not be valid.

Problems with receiving error message "This Connection is Untrusted" for any https sites. On version 17.0.1 of firefox. IE does not get error.

whenever I go to an https site, I get this error message. My other browsers are not having the same issue. I deleted cert8.db as one site suggested. Stopped using firefox due to this issue. example: www.comcast.net, once I sign into email, I get this error message. Amazon.com - same issue. So, these are very common sites. This only started in past two weeks.

Does updating to Firefox 18 (which comes out today) help? It fixed a few issues with certificates.

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. 
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.

I suddenly get this connection is untrusted after being on website for five minutes with it working perfectly I want to turn this off.

I was on the website like five minutes with it working perfectly. My firefox install is new as of two days ago. It suddenly decided the website's certificate is not updated. It wasn't updated five minutes ago, but was working perfectly then. I do not give a ''durn'' what firefox thinks. I want to see this website. There is no ignore this BS and take me to my website button. I want to know how to turn this off permanently. I tried updating firefox and I still have the same issue. Make it stop. My firefox is updated as of five minutes ago to the very newest version. My windows version whatever is also automatically updated so that's not it. I do not use any local antivirus because I am behind a firewall. It can't be the firewall because other computers in my network not using firefox have no problem with the website. Also cannot be my windows because other computers which are just ghosted over copies of the same as this one one my network with same exact default settings also with no changes to them just like this one but using another web browser have no trouble at all with this website. Seriously, nothing is different on the other computers on the network except the use of firefox. They work fine for this website. Firefox brand new update even does not work. Tell me how to fix it. I tried to do the stuff listed in certain other posts here. Apparently this version of firefox is different from the versions talked about when I google because certain parts of the answer don't fit what I see when I try to follow them with this version.

As of today I get "This connection is untrusted" message for EVERY website, including all the ones that I've bookmarked and been using for years.

It's not an exception problem, as I get it on all the websites I try to visit and all of these have worked for years.
