Getting through a firewall proxy

Hi,
I work behind a proxy server and I need to send messages out side of my intranet. I followed all the steps in the e-docs http://e-docs.bea.com/workshop/docs81/doc/en/core/index.html for setting up my proxy authentication but I still cannot get out. I need to authenticate with my proxy on every request. I am also getting the message: <Property: net.proxyAuthenticatorClassName is not a recognized MBean attribute or special property used for Management. It is probably beings used by subsystems and will continue to work as expected if it is a supported option.>
I dont know if that is my problem or not thought.
Any help would be greatly apprecitated!

Hi,
It does seem strange as the ports Apple list that iMessage uses are ones that iChat would already have.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4245
Port 80 would be used to check with the Apple Servers about Apple IDs used in iChat
Port 443 is used for Logins to both AIM and me.com in iChat 6  (This combo restricts the use of @me.com names from iCloud to iChat 6)
Port 5223 is Jabber Login port for most Jabber server including the GoogleTalk and Facebook servers.

  • Is there an email client that get through a firewall?

My office has an annoying firewall where all personal mail clients, including Apple Mail and Thunderbird, are automatically blocked. AppleMail spins as if searching for email, but I can never download it. I can of course get mail via webmail, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a client that does not incur this kind of problem.
    Thank you for your help!

The point of using a web-based e-mail client is that ports 80 and sometimes 443 are the only ports you can be sure are open in most cases. It's the protocol that's blocked by the firewall, not the application. If pop and imap are blocked, then no pop or imap client will work.

  • Can RMI get through firewall?

my java applet will have to communicate with SAP server using JCO
so the applet connects to an RMI server then the RMI server connects to SAP server.
in between applet and RMI server there is a firewall. will RMI get through firewall?

The answer is "maybe". It depends on
o How the service is coded. Probably has to be written to communicate using a fixed port number, rather than randomly assigned. (Most firewalls allow access to only specified ports.)
    o Changing the firewall settings.
o Whether or not your server tries to call back the client, and whether the client is also behind a fireall. If these two details are both true, then you are probably dead in the water.
There are HTTP tunelling techniques for getting through firewalls. Haven't used them, but if you look back through this forum you'll probbly find some info.

  • Whenever I try to open up Firefox, it says that it's unable to connect, however, my internet connection is fine and I can still open up Internet Explorer. I already allowed Firefox through my firewall.

My internet connection is fine, I already allowed Firefox through my firewall. This is the first time it had ever happened and it happened suddenly, out of nowhere.

Try "Firefox connection settings" in [[Server not found]]
You can find the connection settings in Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection<br />
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select No Proxy
You can also try to remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

  • Onenote syncing through a transparent proxy..or not!?

I'm having some people asking to use Onenote on Android - these devices sync through a transparent proxy as I can't enter a port number for the Onenote Sync - but because the application doesn't seem to support SNI (Server Name Indication) I get
an error message.  The only way I can see to configure this on my firewall is to allow no HTTPS inspection on the IPs to which Onenote syncs.  The problem with that is that there is a range...?
Is there a domain that I can put in, or a specific range of IPs I can enter!?  I've tried all the usuals...live.com, live.net etc.  I've also done a reverse lookup on one of the IPs I know it syncs to, but it doesn't resolve!
    Any bright ideas?

  • My iPhone gets a "web server proxy error" connecting to wifi @ home

Ever since installing Comcast Xfinity with Motorola SB6121 and Apple Extreme 5th generation, my iPhone 4 gets a web server proxy error or similar message for any apps seeking to go online.  My iPod Touch 3rd generation works as does my MacBook Pro.
I've reset the router, harangued Comcast (no help - it's your phone, sir), rebooted the iPhone, checked all my settings (VPN - what's that? it's not connected), Proxy in the VPN settings is set to off. The phone will show the signal and it will check Apple Mail but Safari, Google APP anything needing web access will either hang or give the proxy error message.  Apple Customer Care said call Comcast, Comcast said call Apple & I'm surprised to find little help on the web.
Here's what I found to work on a MacForum sight from 2 years ago.
    1.
Settings->WiFi->under choose a network, click the blue arrow (on the right of the network nameyou use)->DHCP
*now check the IP address with the one on your iPod Touch or computer to see if they are in sequence
*scroll down to HTTP Proxy & make sure it is off
         -> renew lease may work
It was the making sure the IP address was correct/in sequence which I moved to the STATIC tab and input all the same information (use a screen shot to remember it - home button and on/off button at the same time, it will store in your pictures folder) and give that a shot.
The problem appears to be where multiple machines or devices are using the same router. The iPhone 3GS assigned an IP Address in order of preference, therefore 192.175.1.1 and then 192.175.1.2 etc. The iPhone 4 will assign a strange IP address which the router will not accept. You therefore need to look at the other devices linked and see what number is next in the sequence. Then go to static on the top tab and type in the IP adress manually followed by the Subnet mask, router and DNS details. Once you have completed the info press the DHCP button and HTTP Proxy as off - this is important.
    2.
This is how i fixed the wifi problem...(i used my mac)
So basicly I created a new WiFi hotspot on my iMac, then I connected my iphone to it and it WORKS!
    1. open System Preferences (Apple -> System Preferences) and click Sharing.
    2. select Internet Sharing at the left side.
    3. Then check off AirPort.
    4. Then creat a newtwork name, and password
    5. VOILA! look at the Wifi connections on your iPhone and it should be there!
(IF YOU HAD ANY PROBLEMS GO TO THIS LINK..
    http://maketecheasier.com/create-wif...s-x/2009/10/20
THIS SITE SHOWS YOU HOW TO SET IT UP)
    3.
    reset Network
Same problem, but none of the above worked for me. Finally went to Settings/ General/ Reset/ Reset network settings. Saw this in a different thread.
    Hope these help.
    Cheers,
    cs

This has solved loads of people who have this issue and have used an alternate DNS setting.  Below are instructions for both iPhone OTA and on you Mac
If you are getting the error message "Unable to check for update" when you try an OTA (over the air update)
    Change DNS Servers
    Settings -> Wi-Fi
Click the blue arrow on your connected network
Delete everything in DNS and replace it with 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220
    Try again
If this works, you will probably want to remove the WiFi network using "Forget This Network" and then reconnect to it to get your original DNS servers back. Alternatively, make a note of the original DNS servers before deleting them and replace it after you are done.
If you are getting the error message "Unable to check for update" when you try through iTunes
    On your Mac
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Network.
Select the network connection service you want to use (such as Wi-Fi or Ethernet, unless you named it something else) from the list, and then click Advanced.
Click DNS, and then click Add at the bottom of the DNS Servers list. Enter the IPv4 address for the DNS server.
    You can use OpenDNS
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    or
You can Google Public DNS if you want
    8.8.8.8
    8.8.4.4
I have actually repointed my routers DNS so all my devices now point to OpenDNS servers

  • Serious bug in Weblogic when connecting to a remote website through a local proxy server (proxyHost, proxyPort)

    Hi there,
It seems that there is a serious problem with any version of Weblogic when you
have to pass through a local proxy server to connect a remote website.
Whenever I am trying to run the jsp program below either with Weblogic 7.0 SP2
or even with Weblogic 8.1, I get the following exception :
An error occured: Tried all: '1' addresses, but could not connect over HTTP to
    server: 'www.sun.com', port: '80'
When I run the same program outside Weblogic, it works fine. Other people have
already reported the same problem either in this newsgroup or on Internet forums,
and up to now, the problem is not fixed yet.
In fact, Weblogic seems to block when it performs the connect() method to the
proxy, my jsp program hangs a few minutes before returning the error message shown
    above.
If anyboby can tells me how this problem can be solved (or maybe via a workaround)
do not hesitate to keep me informed, thanks in advance.

    Hello,
The way to set the HTTP connection using a proxy server changed (from
    using the system property
weblogic.webservice.transport.http.proxy.host/port)[1] in WLS 7.x to the
standard JDK 1.4 system properties [2] in WLS 8.1.
I would recommend opening a dialog with our outstanding support team [3]
    to resolve this issue.

  • Portal access through a firewall

    Hi there!
Having the default installtion of R2 on a single W2K box, what's the minimal procedure to make this configuration available through a firewall?
I've opened ports 7777-7778 but fail when trying to logon via SSO (host.domain.com:7777/pls/orasso)
Have I missed out to open another port or am I forced to follow the steps of setting up a reversing proxy to have portal-access outside the firewall?
    Cheers
    /Staffan

If they are on different servers, then both are listening on the 7777 port, and you will have to change one of them to use another port (assuming your firewall can only port forward a port to only one host).
If you are running both instances on the same server, then your SSO is accessible via 7777 and your midtier would be on 7778, so your setup as described should be enough (I do the same thing).
If they are running on the one machine, can you access the SSO/INF server directly? http://inf.domain.com:7777 and then http://inf.domain.com:7777/pls/orasso ?

  • Workstation Clients through a Firewall

Does anyone out there know if there are any issues with workstation clients going
    through a firewall?
    Thanks!

We have done it successfully from NT to a Unix server over afirewall. Its a case
of getting the WSNADDR set up correctly.
use the -H option in the WSL entry in ubb config shows to set it up.
    eg
    CLOPT="-A -- -d /dev/tcp -n 0x0002nnnnxxxxxxxx -H 0x0002MMMMyyyyyyyy"
Where nnnn is a port number
xxxxxxxx is the true hex IP address of the server
yyyyyyyy is the firewall hex address of the server
    MMMM is fixed.
WSNADDR on the PC is set to port number and firewall address.
I know the hex notation is a bit out of date these date but it works fine for
    us.
    Hope it helps

  • Firewall / Proxy

Hello, i'm new of this forum :-)
    I have a question about firewall/proxy tunnelling.
I have build a little application with Socket Client on port 80,
but it do not work on system that have firewall or proxy.
So I have to convert my application to have the ability of work with firewall and proxy.
To do it I have read more documentation about SPI,
and I have decided to use URLConnection.
If I open Socket and send content-type 'application/zip',
and after that i send a ZIPPED version of "traffic" I think that my Socket
can work with firewall and proxy.
    It's correct ?
    Thank you,
    darez

From what I've read, although I've never had to use it, you can tell the JVM to use a proxy by using the -D parameter and passing values when you run you're program e.g for an web/http proxy you'd do something like .
    java -Dhttp.proxySet=true -Dhttp.proxyHost=192.168.1.100 -Dhttp.proxyPort=8888 myjavaprogram
You can also save these settings in a properties file and read them from there apparently. As for being behind/confronted by a firewall - don't thing there's much you can do about that if it isn't going to let you through.

  • Cisco 8851 phones registering through Checkpoint firewall

We have a customer with a secured network, using Checkpoint firewalls and have a VPN site-to-site tunnel between our Cisco ASA and their Checkpoint firewall, with Cisco phones on the far side of the tunnel and CallManager 8.6 behind the ASAs.  We have all the proper network ports referenced, but cannot get either a new Cisco 8851 (SIP) or a Cisco 7942 phone to register.  The 8851 phone, when it tries to register, uses the 6970 port for distributed TFTP via HTTP first (by design), followed by TFTP/69.  The 7900 phone never generates TFTP on port 69 at all.  What is also strange is that the source port 5060 on the 8851 phone seems to be masked with an upper ephemeral network port (51566) when the request traverses the network, regardless of it passing through the firewall or a router.  I know that TFTP uses UDP, but there is nothing in the docs that state it uses these upper port ranges?
Is this behavior normal for a Cisco SIP-based phone, and with the Skinny phone, is there something with Checkpoint firewalls that causes issues with Cisco VOIP phones.  I have done key-word searches on the Forum for this issue, but have not found anything significant.  I have also looked at the Nokia support forum, and saw some briefs, but it didn't directly describe our issue.  Any help would b e greatly appreciated.

  • Firewall/Proxy Server Issue

I'm testing a new Flex/CF app. From my location it runs well
on the production server. But from another location that is behind
a Symantec firewall/proxy server, it runs unusably slowly. I'm
using Flex remote object calls (Flash remoting) to communicate with
CF. I don't know if the problem is related to that or simply
something to do with Flash Player. Has anyone experienced this
problem? I'm not a network administrator and am not familiar with
Symantec firewalls so I'm not sure what to ask their network admin
to try. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Did you add a new library in the project to include weblogic.jar from the WebLogic 6.1?
What kind of a client is it?
You can also try using the setting in the menu
    Tools | Preferences | Web Browser/Proxy
    to enable disable the proxy.

They are correct.  The only stream you can wireless connect the TV to a Mac is through an AppleTV, and that's purchased content on iTunes, and your own homemade content that is H.264 MPEG-4 that is 1800kbps.   Conversion of commercial video to that format is illegal, and hence how can not be stated on the forum.    Alternatively, as long as the TV is HDMI, you can wired connect it to your MacBook using the same advice here:
