Getting to notification center without trackpad

I am using my macbook pro with an external monitor when i am at home. So basically i a have a bluetooth mouse and keyboard with my macbook shut. There are a few things I miss with the trackpad like getting to the notification center and the app exposè. Is there a way to get there with magic mouse? Are there any keycommands for these?

  • HT4623 How do you get your notification center to pop up nothing comes on mine and i don't get tweet notifications to my phone

How do i get my twitter notifications to my phone using notification center?

Is twitter listed in Settings/Notifications/notifications center?
    Additional Information
If you have an app that could send frequent notifications (for example, Mail with high-traffic email accounts, Twitter apps, and so on), your iOS device could wake frequently to display the notification (and affect battery life). You can disable "View in Lock Screen" for a particular app in Settings > Notifications > <app name>.
    Troubleshooting notifications
Push notifications require an active Wi-Fi or cellular connection. If you are not receiving notifications for a specific app, try these steps:
Verify that the app supports notifications.
After installing an app or restoring a backup to a different iOS device, open the app at least once to begin receiving notifications.
If the app requires entering or logging in to an account, you will need to do this before receiving notifications.
Check Settings > Notifications to ensure that the app is configured for notifications.
If notifications do not appear only in the Notification Center, verify that the Notification Center setting for the app is enabled.
If you are still unable to receive notifications and you are using a Wi-Fi connection, verify that the network or firewall is not blocking access to port 5223.

  • Gmail notification center without mail or browser open

    Hi all
Notification center works well if Mail.app is open (i don't use it anymore, so i'm not sure) and when the browser is open and Gmail open.
Does exist any solution to be notified about new emails (maybe just the imporatant one) having gmail closed in the browser?
    thanks

There appear to be others having the same problem. If you check the "More Like This" box, maybe you will find a solution.

  • In Mountain Lion, I would like to receive messages notifications in my notifications center WITHOUT it opening up the application.

I would like for my notifications to just show something like a red badge with maybe a number by it that represents the number of unread messages I have. I DO NOT want the OS to open the Messages app every time I get a new message. It takes me away from the app I'm currently using and I don't like that. I'd rather just keep Messages unopened until I click on one of the notifications. Is that possible?

Is your Messages application totally quit when this happens. For me, I quit messages and uncheck 'sign out when quit application' (or something like that) in the Message preferences. So when i get a message, it will open the application but it wont take me away from what i am doing, it just appears in the dock.

  • How to get rid of the notifications center from the menu?

I unchecked all the "in notifications center" boxes so there is nothing in there. But the notifications center icon is still up there on the menu, over on the right side.
Is there a way to just get rid of it completely?
    Thanks,
    doug

From the OS X Finder, hit Command+Shift+G and enter the path to /System/Library/CoreServices/
Locate “Notification Center.app” and click on the name to rename it to “Notification Center-disabled.app”, authenticate the change when prompted
Now launch Terminal, found in /Applications/Utilities/ and type the following command:
    killall NotificationCenterQuit out of Terminal
Notifications will no longer be posted, alerts will be gone, and the menu bar icon is no longer visible. If you do attempt to get to Notification Center either through a keyboard shortcut or the sideways swipe, you’ll be presented with a blank side of the screen.

  • My mail is not updating in notification center, I cant receive the mail in notification center, help?

Hi, I recently purchased a copy of Mac OS X Mountain Lion, after playing around with notification center I realized that if I get new mail I have to open my mail in the application so that it can appear in the notification center, why cant it just appear in notification center without having to open mail, thanks.

You have to open Mail. The reason is unknown now, but Apple can add it in an update soon

  • Cannot Post Status on Facebook from Notification Center in OS X

Up until two days ago, I was able to post Facebook Status through Notification Center without any issues.
However, I am not getting error messages saying that "Connection to Facebook has failed"
However, I can still share through Safari and other application without any issues. (including Preview, etc)
I have tried all the possible solution that was mentioned when this issue previously arose when using within Safari. (which included erasing cookies and resetting Safari), and installing the latest Combo update (which, by now is 10.8.4). But none of the methods has worked so far. I have even tried re-setting the PRAM, and issue still persists.
I am basically stumped. Is there any solution, or is this issue on Apple or Facebook's end? (I heard it's authentication, but I doubt it, since it still works on my iPad running iOS 6)
Note that I have no issues when posting to Twitter. That still works.

  • Lock Screen notification center - I want messages to show in the N/C but not on the actual lock screen itself. Any way to do this?

In ios7, is there any way to have incoming text messages show up in the notification center on the lock screen but not pop up on the actual lock screen itself? I cant get this combination to work and it seems like it shoud. The text notificaitons do not show at all on the L/S notification center unless I choose the allow on lock screen option. But this not only puts it in the L/S notification center but also adds it to the lock screen itself. I dont want it to do both.

Your email accounts will not actually be reset.  The only things that will get reset if you hit reset settings will be your homescreen and lockscreen (your pictures will still be on your phone they just default back to the initial ones), the size of your text, the sounds you use for text messages and ringtones (any of the ones that you have specifically customized for certain contacts will not be reset it's only the ones that you use for yourself) and a couple other minor things.  None of the apps that you have to set up personall as in facebook or twitter will reset. I really recommend do this, nothing major will get reset on the phone it's just some minor  settings.  Just make sure to hit 'Reset All Settings' and NOT 'Reset All Content And Settings'.
I've also tried it with messages app specifically after I hit 'Reset All Settings' and it works like a charm.  No messages pop up on my screen but I can access and preview in the notification center without having to unlock my phone.

  • Notification Center Missing?

    Hi,
After a visit to the Apple Store in Tokyo with this MacBook , I came home and reinstalled OSX and upgraded other stuff. During this time I discovered that the Notification Center which I have on my iMac is missing from the Air. The icon is missing from the System Preferences. So, I really don't want to go thru a reinstall again, it's time consuming, but is there a way to get the Notification Center or do I just write it off as a missed opportunity? Ideas?  Thanx.

As I can see, you are using OS X Lion on your MacBook Air, and Notification Center is a OS X Mountain Lion feature.
As it looks like you have already purchased OS X Mountain Lion, just open App Store on the MacBook Air, go to Purchases tab, and download OS X Mountain Lion. While it's downloading, make a backup of your data with Time Machine and/or Carbon Copy Cloner, and check that your applications are supported > http://www.roaringapps.com
When the download finishes, the OS X installer will appear, so follow the steps

  • NOTIFICATIONS CENTER OSX

    Dear All,
I seem to have stumbled upon a problem. I recently installed Mountain Lion, but Notifications Center (or rather its Icon) is always grey. Now I know this indicates it is in "do not disturb"-mode, but I can't seem to turn it off, so that I can use it normally again. I cannot get "into" Notifications Center by clicking on the Icon and I have tried the keyboard shortcut with the ALT key, but it doesn't do anything. It remains grey.
Can somebody please help me? Am I just being stupid and not seeing the most obvious of things, or does anybody else have this problem?
    Please let me know.
    And tanks in advance.

Have you tried a Safe Boot - sometimes resolves problems: restart holding down the shift key until the grey progress bar appears. Once booted restart as normal from the Apple menu.
And possibly a PRAM reset, other than that I'm stuck:
    Reset PRAM
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P and R.
You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • Laggy notification center in lockscreen - iPad Air

I experience a low frame rate when I open notification center without unlocking. After unlocking it's fine. Is that a iOS7.1 issue?

Not as far as I know.  The Notification Center has been implemented extremely poorly, IMHO.  Its limitations make it basically worthless to me.  Let Apple know how you feel:

  • Dead zone near the notification center "sliding" zone

I've noticed that on IE11 and webviews (didn't check with regular apps), when you touch the zone where you would slide down the notification center, there is a half a second latency before the event is dispatched. I assume this is to enable the user to slide
the notification center without triggering a touch event on the page/app, but in my case this latency can be really inconvenient.
Is there a way to disable the notification center sliding in an app or at least to disable this "dead zone" near the top of the screen ?

Disabling touches to StatusBar area with:
    Windows::UI::ViewManagement::ApplicationView::GetForCurrentView()->SuppressSystemOverlays = true;
fixes this problem. It took some digging, but I'm happy to say it works.

  • Notification Center Gesture

For some reason, I find it next to impossible to get the notification center via gesture. I have to do it about five times before I finally succeed. Is there any video, or good descrption someone can provide?
And when I say five times, I really do mean five times!

  • Idea for the Notification Center

Wouldn't it be a good idea, if you could get the notification center to send you a notification, every time you got a notification on Facebook?

Looks like that happened in OS X 10.8.2.
