Getting "Unknown" error in Terminal?
To give you a quick summary of the situation I am in, I'm trying to set up a Minecraft server for my friend and I to play together, and this involves me using the Terminal. However, it doesn't appear to be working even though I'm doing everything I have been told to do.
After creating a text document with the correct content inside it, and saving it as server.command, I then have to go into Terminal and type "chmod a+x " and drag the server.command file into the Terminal and press Enter. After pressing Enter, it says "unknown-c8:bc:c8:c1:d1:5b:~ (user name)$". Why is it saying this, and how do I fix it so that what I am being told to do works like it should?
Somebody really needs to create a Minecraft installer for OS X, because you're only the most recent person to become entangled by the manual installation process.
I'm not going to watch a YouTube video to see what's gone weird with it; sorry. FWIW, There are text-based Minecraft installation and setup discussions around — I've seen a few discussed in previous reports of Minecraft server installation problems here. Those are generally better than the videos, as you have commands you can copy. Mistakes at the command line can lead to problems far worse than a prompt string change, too; data loss is possible, with certain sorts of commands.
Beyond the Minecraft server installation process, one of the prerequisites for the most common Minecraft server — Oracle Java — needs to be managed and kept current. Past versions of Oracle Java have allowed security to be breached, and there's no reason to expect that the most current version won't eventually be breached. Due to this history of vulnerabilities, the Apple OS X XProtect mechanisms will occasionally be updated to block Java when these vulnerabilities are reported. Put another way, you might find your Minecraft server unexpectedly taken offline when there's a Java security vulnerability loose.

Ipod nano gets unknown error -48 when trying to restore
Hi All
My Ipod nano gets unknown error -48 when trying to restore and download the software update. Specifcally, when I connect my ipod, I get a message saying itunes cannot access the ipod and that I should restore it. I go the the ipod tab, hit the restore button and the download begins (approx 16mb). The download completes, and then I get this message :
There was a problem downloading the ipod software for the ipod "ipod". An unknown error occurred (-48).

Hi, i had the same problem. Try to find the file "apple" or "itunes" don't know it anymore exactly. Ahm well you need to delet any information or just plug in your iphone into an other computer. important is that your iphone never has been pluged in this computer before. This was what i did, and it worked!

I get "Unknown Error." when trying to re-log into the iTunes Store for Windows
My AppleID and password work when using a web browser and logging in here, but not when i try to log in through iTunes for Windows.
My events leading up to the error are below. Any suggestions for a fix/solution?
1) "Unauthorized Computer" message when trying to play newly bought iTunes movie.
2) Authentication Failed using AppleID
3) Sign out completely
3a) Try to sign in, but get "Unknown Error."
4) Uninstalled iTunes
5) Reinstalled iTunes
6) Login attempt: Unknown Error
7) Tried deleting "SC Folder" from User Tips
8) Login attempt: Unknown Error
Any thoughts on what I could do differently to get this resolved?How I solved my UNKNOWN ERROR login issue:
I figured out that I had downloaded the 32 bit version of ITunes but I have the 64 bit version of Windows 8. So I uninstalled the 32. and downloaded and installed the 64 bit version of ITunes and everything worked just fine. The Windows 8 firewall was not an issue.
How to determine your version of Win 8. Go to Control Panel, System & Security, then System and that screen shows the version.
I just brought home a new Toshiba laptop and was surprised to see that I have the 64 bit version. But pleased that I fixed the agrivating ITunes issue.

I keep getting "unknown error" message come up when I try to get an app. I have put my password in correctly but I then get a message saying I've put my password in incorrectly too many times. So I change my password but I still get the "unknown error" message. I have changed my password 4 times now and nothing is working
I received this email from Apple and this corrected the problem for me... I only had to reset the iTunes cache
1) Open iTunes
2) At the top menu, click File > Preferences (iTunes > Preferences on a Mac)
3) In the Preferences menu, click the Advanced tab
4) In the Advanced menu, you should see a button that says "Reset Cache". Please click this button. -

Gets unknown error -124 when syncing the iPod
I get unknown error -124 when syncing my 80 gb iPod. I have had files which I could not copy to the iPod, so I removed them. So it's not that. And I have restored it back to its original settings before syncing now.
Any tips on how to resolve this?

Opening CS5 Files in CS6 - Get "Unknown Error has Occurred"

Sometimes - and I stress sometimes - this can help. Sign out, restart your iPad and sign in again.
Settings>Store>Apple ID - tap your ID and sign out. Restart.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in and sign into your account. Then try to update your apps. -

Normally this error means a secure connection to the iTunes Store has failed. Try the steps in the article below as it may help resolve this issue.

Help?What you are telling me is contradictory information. So you will have to start over and give us proper details. One can not download Leopard for example. Or even Snow Leopard.
