Getting ventrilo server to work

I have setup a static IP on my server computer- gone into the network adapter tcp/ip settings and did those
Ip Address 192.168.1.2
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Default gateway (my router)
both dns server addresses from the status page in the router and matches ipconfig /all information
I have forwarded ports on the router 3784 and 6100 in gaming and applications
ipconfig says dhcp enabled ...... No
like most other people, the computers on the network will connect but outside, no dice.

Make sure your firewall applications are correctly configured to allow connections on the desired port and protocols (TCP and/or UDP). For testing purposes, you should fully disable all firewalls, including the Windows firewall, and try again
Next, you need to ensure your router is properly configured for port forwarding. Port forwarding tells your router where to direct certain requests it receives based on the incoming port. For example, if you have three computers in the network, and have a web server running on port 80 on one of the machines, port forwarding directs incoming visitors to the desired computer.
If your firewalls are disabled, and port forwarding is properly configured in your router (or you don't have a router), the last possibility is that your Internet Service Provider is blocking the port. Many ISPs block common ports such as 21, 25, and 80 to prevent people from hosting servers on their networks. You can verify port blocking by simply calling your ISP and asking about the problem (since they often use it as an incentive to upgrade to a better package).

  • Can't get Lion Server to work

    Hi
As written above. I can't get Lion server to work.
I have succesfully installed the program, and turn on some of the services. Then I have bought a domain, to connect to my server. But if I try to connect to my IP, from another computer, it doesn't connect. I have tried to "port forwarding" port 80 on my router, and given my Mac a static IP. I have checked with a "Check port opener" if the port 80 was in reach, it was.
So my question is, what is the next I can do to make it work. First with the IP and then with my domain?

Yes, SMTP used to work but stopped after new cert applied. IMAP works fine. Removed SSL and still doesn't work (although should it be restarted or is save for changes okay).

  • Can't get App Server to work

Hi! I am beginning to use Studio Creator and I am following the Get Started Tutorial. When I try to Run the example I get the error "Can't initialize Sun Java System Application Server 8.2"
    Any comments/suggestions are welcome.
    Thanks!

You may try to start the App Server independently to see if it works:
    1. click on the "Severs" Tab
    2. Right click on the "Deployment Sever", and on the context menu, click "Start/Stop Server"
    3. on the pop up dialog, click "Start Server"
    4. if there is a problem:
look the server log file for more infos, which is located as follows:
    $Creator_Dir\SunAppServer8\domains\creator\logs\server.log
    Hope this helps

  • Cannot get OSX Server to work properly

I've followed various tutorials online in a bid to set up a home server.
I thought I'd got everything right until I tried to login to a 'new user account' via the 'other selection' on the login screen of my mac mini.
I don't know where I've gone wrong. Has anyone had this problem?
Users can screen share the server or remotely connect to folders but they can't log into the mac mini server or via other devices

I'm not sure what it is you're trying to do. Can you explain what Server services you're running and what you're trying to do with them?
For example, I could describe how to access FTP and Wiki services, but that wouldn't help if you aren't running those services.
I had to revise my initial Server install to properly configure my LAN. The best advice received was from MrHoffman, and that was to get DNS service properly configured on the LAN.
I had been pointing to DNS servers outside my LAN. The proper way was to first choose a subnet (MrHoffman advised against using the ubiquitous 192.168.x.x and use 172.16.xx or 10.x.x.x instead), then configure forward and reverse lookups manually. (I had to delete those initially configured by Server and reconfigure my own.)
This link should help: Hoffman Labs. The description for DNS configuration is for an earlier version of Server, but it works with Mountain Lion Server as well.
Essentially, each client should be configured to point to your Server's LAN IP for DNS service. The Server should be configured to point to itself for DNS service, specifically 127.0.0.1 instead of its LAN IP address. Make sure you run the tests to make sure DNS is configure and working properly.
If that doesn't help, you'll have to provide more detail on what it is you're trying to do.

  • Cannot get Search Server to work

I am installing plumtree corporate portal. Everything seems to work except for the Search server. Any ideas?

Probably will need more information about your ability to search. But...
    1) You will need to ensure the Plumtree Search Service is running2) Items are not indexed until the Search update 1 job runs, this means you will have to STart the job Server. The Search Agent should run immediately upon starting the job server.

  • Can't get exchange server to work

I recently got a new job and have been trying to set up my mail with the exchange acct. The guy sitting next to me has an iphone as well and connected to it no problem. I entered the same information and get the message, "exchange account verification failed." Checked with IT and both of our settings are the same. Anybody have an idea what is going on?

I had to re-establish my iPhone with our Exchange Server, and it was taking forever to connect, and got server errors (according to the message).
The trick that got it moving was to initially just put in an "@" as the email address. Use the correct server name, domain, username and password, but just @ as the email address. You can update this later.
Hopefully, this will do it for you. I have no idea why, but our I.T. people use this approach.

  • EA6300 Cannot get web server to work

    Hi,
    I have a Linksys AE6300 router.
I have a webserver set up with IIS to use port 780 for an HTTP site.
It works when I use the internal IP http://192.168.1.150:780
But, not when I use the external one.
This is a new router so, I never had this working on this particular router before. (but, my old router worked fine - was able to view website using external IP).
I tried using both the Single and Port Range forwarding. (My old router used port range).
Here is my Single Port forwarding setup...
    And my Basic Firewall settings
I also re-booted the router. But, still cannot view website. (unavailable).
What more should I be doing? Or what am I doing wrong?

    Thank you for the information.
1 - I unchecked 'Filter Anonymous Internet Requests'
2 - I did the following in port range forwarding.
    3 - I did a full powercycle
4 - I tried to access the external IP address using port 780 --  xxxx.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx:780
Still got 'Webpage is not available'
    Error code: ERR_CONNECTION_ABORTED
I went to the site http://www.whatsmyip.org/port-scanner/server/
And noticed that port 80 is closed. (as apposed to 'Timeout (Blocked)'
    Port 780 is open.
after trying access the webpage (using port 780) ... this is all that was in my linksys log :

mail is a trickier than that.
do you have DNS working ?
do you have a Globally unique or NATed address from your ISP ?
Is there a DNS MX record pointing to that IP for your domain.
    is your domain registered.
if you've answered yes to all of these. go to your log folder and tail your logs.
    tail -f /var/log/mail.log
also postconf -n , and post it.
if your running a mail server the gui is nice for simple things. but managing the system with take some use of the terminal.

  • Issue getting FTP server to work when firewall is turned ON.

I have FTP server setup on a file server for users in a remote office to quickly download large files over the VPN between the offices.  It works fine.
I have setup FTP on a different server in a 3rd remote office in order to download some large files.  It will not work unless I turn off the firewall for the Domain network settings.  In the firewall under "Allow a program or feature"
FTP Server is listed and is checked under Domain, Home, and Public.  I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.  Can someone help me figure this one out?   thanks

It is clear now that it is a firewall problem.
If this is a Windows Firewall then you can give a try to this: http://www.maxpcsecure.com/support/spywaredetector/allow_FTP_Port.htm
If this is not a Windows Firewall then you need to check with the vendor / developer support for assistance.

  • Can't get ichat server to work on 10.5.8

I setup ichat such that it uses SSL with a self-signed cert and kerberos authentication. From the client side, a client can connect to the server with ichat using Kerberos v5 for Auth and SSL selected, and is prompted that *"iChat can't verify the identy of "servername". An SSL error has occurred..."*
So I tell it to always trust the certificate and enter in my password.. and.. I'm greeted by the same prompt again. Over and over again. What's the dealio?
Adium can connect fine once the Cert is trusted. iChat on the other hand, refuses to.

If this station or others never had a problem before then go to the keychain and delete the keychain for ichat that deals with the server and try again.

m Choose Wi-Fi > Other and enter the network name. If the network requires a password, tap Security, select the type of security the network uses, and then tap Other Network and enter the password.
You must already know the network name, password, and security type to connect to a closed network.

  • Help! I cannot get a server to work on my one game!

On Garry's Mod, and Counter Strike: Source, i cannot make servers. I also am not very good with routers. Can someone please help me?

    Hi,
First of all you have to assign a static ip address on computer on which you have to host games, like
    ip: 192.168.1.10
    subnet mask:255.255.255.0
    Default gateway:192.168.1.1
Then need to forward ports used by the mentioned games on your routers firewall, to this static ip address.
    Ports used by Counter Strike:
    1200 set as UDP.
    27000 - 27015 set as UDP.
    27020 - 27050 set as TCP.
    Ports used by Garry's Mod:
    27015 UDP
    27015 TCP
    27020 UDP

Unlikely.  Based on the complete lack of detail of the issue provided it is entirely possible the same issue would occur.
Unless and until the user provides some actual details of the problem, there is nothing the indicate that the issue is with the iPhone.

  • I need help getting my local testing server to work - PHP/MySQL

    Hello,
I am using DW CS5 and have installed XAMPP for my Server/PHP/DB package (which is the same as my live site).
I have gone thru every tuitorial and all information on this subject, and unfortunately I can't get the server set up correct. Other than my page not showing in a browser (or live view) when I try to view it, DW just says: "Dynamically-related files could not be resolved because the site definition is not correct for this server" when I have index.php open and try to find the files.
One major question is I am unsure of what folder to have as the root folder of the site, which has a public_htlm directory and www directory - or do I just use the main folder they are both located in as the root folder?
(Not to get too deep with this first question, but I also looked at the error log file in Apache c:\xampp\apache\logs\error.log and it is not finding the following:
[Tue Oct 09 14:26:38.573504 2012] [:error] [pid 3100:tid 1488] [client ::1:56261] script 'C:/xampp/htdocs/BusinessTube/index_e5pebna8e.php' not found or unable to stat]
I'm guessing that the file "index_e5pebna8e.php" is a cached version of the file generated by index.php - but I'm unsure why it is not being 'found'.)
Second question is about having to set the php.ini file to listen to port 88 as this computer also has IIS installed. I have done this, and it works with a local project directly from NetBeans (which I have to use for a PHP development class). How will this change my DW site definitions? I'm assuming that anywhere I would have localhost I will now need to have localhost:88 but once again I'm not sure.
I am eager to get this site working locally so I can start using the new PHP skills I'm learning - any help will be GREATLY appreciated.
    Kirk

You're getting mixed up over the meaning of public_html.
Most hosting companies that offer PHP use the Apache web server, which has a single server root folder called htdocs. XAMPP also uses Apache, so c:/xampp/htdocs is the XAMPP server root, and its URL is http://localhost/.
Although Apache has only one server root, virtual hosts make it possible to run multiple websites on the same server. Each virtual host is located in a separate folder that acts as the site root. It's common for this folder to be called public_html. What bregent was describing was the location of the site root on your remote server. The name of the site root in your local testing setup can be whatever you decide to call it.
When learning to use PHP, most people use a subfolder of the Apache server root because it doesn't require further configuration. However, once you're working with real sites, it's normal to set up a virtual host for each one. I create all my virtual hosts in a folder called C:/vhosts. So for example, I might have one in C:/vhosts/site1. In the virtual hosts configuration file, I designate C:/vhosts/site1 as the root folder for a virtual host called site1, which can then be accessed as http://site1/.
The only reason I might have a folder called public_html is if I designated C:/vhosts/site1/public_html as the site root.
I hope that's clear. Once you understand the principle of virtual hosts, the concept of the site (or server) root becomes obvious, but it can be difficult to explain. I remember it took me a while before the concept sank in.
