Getting Your Files into DV-AVI Type II Format

The advice I’ve received on the forum suggests the best file format to edit in is DV-AVI Type II.   I have attempted conversions to this format unsuccessfully and had a couple of questions I’m hoping the community can answer.
1.       Is DV-Type II the name of the compression codec used to generate the AVI file?  I have attempted video conversions with at least three different pieces of software but have never seen this provided as an option.  Is it a specific codec that I must download before my video conversion programs can use it or is it known under a different name?
2.       For those of you who capture video in non-ideal formats, what third-party software do you use to convert to DV-AVI Type II.  I’ve tried QuickTime Pro (option wasn’t provided), 4videosoft (option wasn’t provided), and AVS Video Converter (option wasn’t provided).   My fallback position is editing with uncompressed AVI files, but they are unwieldy as you would expect.

Please be very wary of any CODEC packs. As Harm says, you should have it with PrPro. If you have Vista, you can download and install THEIR Vista CODEC pack - that is the only one that I would touch with that "10' pole."
Harm is fond of saying that a CODEC pack is the first step to wiping your HDD and completely installing everything again. I don't quite feel THAT strongly, but very close.
One of the problems with other software (and CODEC packs) is that they go out of their way to destroy other programs' CODEC's. Adobe kinda' "hides" theirs, so other programs cannot get to them easily - this will yield false positives from G-Spot and Sherlock the CODEC Detective, but they still function perfectly.
Good luck,

how do you get your contacts into groups?

When you ask a question, please include the version of Mac OS X on your computer. iOS is not a Mac operating system.
Assuming you are running OS 10.9.1:
Open Contacts. Click File in the menu bar and select New Group. Enter the name of the group in Contacts on the left.
Go back to All Contacts (on the left) then drag and drop the names you want in that group on to the folder you just named.
Repeat as necessary for other groups.
Note that the names remain, as they should, in All Contacts, even after you have added them to a group.. You can delete a group if you want. The names will still remain in All Contacts.

    Hi Aneumann,
    Welcome to the Forums.
You have to just right click on the clip imported, in the project panel and select new sequence from clip. You can also go to file menu>new>sequence and create a sequence and then drag the clips after importing them , into the timeline.

I will be having several similar files.
Steps I will be doing on this are
1 > Pick up file from a directory one at a time
2 > Validate the format of XSD file
3 > If valid load into a table
How can I achieve above steps using PL/SQL
Pls mail me ur suggestions on very urgent basis
    Thanks in advance
    Vishnu

Really this should be in the XML forum, but anyway....
Just a small question... It looks as though you are using an XML schema (XSD) to store your table information along with it's data, am I correct? Seems very bizarre thing to do.
If you are using Oracle 10g you can drop your file into the Oracle WebDAV area (XDB) and from there you can access the XML as an XMLTYPE using something like...
    SELECT rv.res.extract('/Resource/Contents/*')
    FROM   resource_view rv
WHERE  lower(rv.any_path) = lower(lc_filename)Once you have it in the XMLTYPE variable from that query, and because your schema doesn't really define the datatypes etc. it's gonna be up to you to parse the XML using something like the DBMS_XMLDOM package and process that into create table statements or something.
Certainly looks like you've got yourself a nice task to do there. Glad I'm not doing it.

  • How to properly get folders, files into Dreamweaver Defined Site Folder from desktop

I, obviously am a new Dreamweaver user, and I need to know
the proper way of going about getting a folder, files, ect. from my
hard drive into my Dreamweaver defined site folder. I understand
how to insert an image from my hard drive into DW and it shows up
in my site folder in the Files Panel. More specifically, using
Lightbox2, after downloading Lightbox and placing those elements in
a new folder on my hard drive, what is the proper way to get that
    folder into my site folder?
Also, how can I properly add images to an images folder in my
site folder in DW for possible later use, without inserting them on
the page. I know by inserting them on the page from a folder on my
hard drive, Dreamweaver prompts me for DW to recognize them. I
would like to know how I can get them in there and DW to recognize
them without actually inserting them on my page.
And can and how can I move files, images, pages from one site
to another? or should I? Thanks, if anyone can help me with these
    file moving questions.

To restate courtney's explanation, *anything* that you paste
    into the site's
local root folder will appear in DW's File panel, and will be
    considered by
DW to be a part of the site.

  • How do you get copied files into a folder of our choice?

OK so this may sound like a very basic question, but it has been driving me nuts ever since I bought an Apple Mac some 3 years ago and I find it hard to believe there isnt a solution.
Objective: to copy or import files into a folder previously created by me within Apples 'Pictures' folder. E.g. "Holiday 2012".
Problem: on every program I have used, inc iPhoto, iMovie, and just now, Preview, when I get ready to copy or import say my photo files from my iphone, or an SD card or a network drive, it never gives me the option to navigate to my folder! How mad is this?! Instead I get teh choice of just Apples plain old Documents or Pictures folders but NEVER get given any opportunity via the dialog box to navigate to my "Holiday 2012" folder. There just is not any obvious way to do it. So instead I get my hundreds of pictures listed directly under Pictures folder, to therefore added to all the other hundreds of pictures listed there. A terrible way to kep pictures.
What I need: someone to tell me how to do this or if its not possible then to tell me that. It is a basic operation that I have been able to do on Windows PC's since they were built. Wht not on Mac? Maybe the solution is right in front of me... if it is then its not intuitive, thats all I can say!
    Can you help please?

    Hi. Ok.
I have just tried the process again in Preview and in desperation this time clicked on 'Other' in the dialogue box when trying to Import. Low and behold I found the way to navigate to my own folders instead of being forced to use Apples standard Folders called Documents and Pictures.
    So problem solved.
Its daft that you cant click on the first folder names listed like you can in Windows so you can then reveal the  subfolders. I guess its just another Apple-ism. Too bad it took me three years to find it but then I suppose I gave up early.

  • So you want to get your files out of Aperture? Simple yet scary solution.

To remove your files from Aperture try this.
Select files you want to remove.
    Delete them, yes delete them.
Go directly to trash and double click. Aperture folder in trash contains all of your deleted files and you can remove them all at once.
Please try this with a few non essential files at first and never empty the trash from the finder during this operation. I did this with 24 files at the Apple Store and it worked fine but make sure it works before you commit large numbers of essential files.
I want to say that I am very excited about the possibility of fully functional Aperture as advertised. For me this program is currently miles from that point but rest assured when it gets there I wil buy it!

In reading earlier posts there were several comments from folks who wanted to back ENTIRELY out of Aperture and from the discussions I surmise that some had commited whole libraries of images before testing the product.
So what good the project export when you want to quit entirely?
Let's say you have a studio and have been cataloging your files for years in folders by job number, client, and keyword. That you have say 6TB of images easily accessed by no software other than your own internal hard drive. That Aperture comes along and wants you to change your system because Apple says so.
I tested the software before buying and it falls short in so many areas as to be unusable for me.
If and when it's fixed I will buy save two hours and it will be paid for.

  • Getting .mov files into iMovie - anyone have a quicktime workflow?

    Hi.
I'm trying to import .mov files (I think they're actually mpeg2 hdv files) into iMovie 11.
    iMovie 11 won't take them.
It worked opening them in Quicktime, exporting and then import them back into iMovie. However, I have tons of files, and this takes forever.
Does anyone know if there's a workflow thing you can do or something to just add multiple files and have them converted? I'd love to just go on holiday and let the computer convert all these files for me.
Better yet, is there another way to import them? I've tried Mpeg streamclip and Visualhub, but none of them will take these files.
    Hope you can help me!

If QuickTime is playing it you have either the QuickTime component or a helper application like DivX, Xvid, 3ivx, Perian or Flip4Mac which might actually be playing it back for you through the QuickTime window. They sometimes can playback the MPEG format.
What are you converting them into from QuickTime? iMovie '11 attempts to optimize the clips for playback and editing by converting them into 960x540 sized frames encoded in the Apple Intermediate Codec. The final file type is a .mov file, but the internals are Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC). MPEG Streamclip can convert any video you can open in it to that AIC format, but if you cannot open the clips then that's the problem that the QuickTime MPEG-2 playback is meant to solve.

  • Trouble getting MP4 files into 30G IPOD

I have ripped a DVD into MP4 format but was unable to add it to ITUNES for transfer into my video IPOD. I am using a demo copy of CUCUSOFT converter software to experiment with. I have thought about buying QuickTime 7.0 but have heard nothing about it regarding ease of use etc.
30G IPOD and IPOD Nano   Windows XP

    Johnathan,
I have attempted to drag the file into ITUNES Video section as well as create a playlist and drop it in. Neither has worked and I don't receive any errors, the file just doesn't appear. The file resides on my hard drive as an MP4 file but I can't do anything with it.

  • How do i get .mov files into imovie? using jvc everio - help!

just purchased a jvc everio hard disk camcorder. i thought it would be easy to import the videos into imovie (but i have never used it before). needless to say it won't recognize the format. the formats say .mov & .moi (i think one is video and one is audio? maybe not). is there any way to import these files into imovie version 5??? sorry by the way if this has been answered before. the volume of questions on this forum is staggering. thanks in advance!!!

welcome sneakypablo to the  boards of discussions...
no, iM does NOT support harddisk camcorders (yet), it is meant by concept to work with firewire connected miniDV cameras.. which use "dv" as codec...
.mov is just a container, but I guess, inside is some kind of mpeg...
Apple mpeg2 plugin (29$) + Streamclip (free) allows conversion of mpeg2 into something editable...
final hint: upper right, "search" field .. ;))

  • Problems exporting video to AVI TYPE 1 format

    Hello
I use the Final Cut Version ProHd for editing my videos but I'm having problems when exporting the final project.

If I export it as a regular AVI, it comes out without sound.
Anybody knows of a plugin that could solve my problem or another way to solve this situation?

  • How to Open Multiple Files into One Image with a Format Plug-in?

    Basic overview question:
I'm interested in creating a format plug-in that will open multiple image files and combine them, then provide one image to Photoshop for further work.
    1.  Can an .8bi plug-in receive notification of multiple files to be opened?  (Not unlike Camera Raw).  Or does one absolutely need to use an .8ba Import plug-in to do this?  I would prefer .8bi.
    2.  Assuming yes, could the latter parts of the plug-in interface be used to open just one combined image?
    Thanks!
    -Noel

    1) An import plugin (8bi) doesn't get file information - it has to provide it's own open dialog.  Only a file format plugin gets a file, but only one at a time.  (ACR has some special magic)
You might want to take a look at the PhotoMerge and MergeToHDR setups with a script driving a plugin.
