Getting YouTube videos...

Hey Guys,
I was just wondering how to get YouTube videos onto my Touch. Can you download to the Touch directly from the website or is there another way? Thanks.

Hey meandefense,
YouTube videos are streamed to the iPhone. This video explains how-to watch YouTube videos on the iPhone.

  • How do I get youtube videos to play

Hi I'm unable to play youtube videos on my phone. I get the message 'an error has occurred' I'm on the giffgaff network and its been suggested that it's because they can't send the service book for youtube. Is there a way around this please without messing with the youtube address/ link everytime I want to watch a video? I have downloaded the youtube icon but still nothing Thank you for your time

This doesn't seem like a pratical workaround but read this:

  • I can't get YouTube videos to play

I was "cleaning" up some odd files that I noticed were on the hard drive and must have eliminated something important.  Don't ask me what I deleted! Anyway, now I can't play any video that links to YouTube.  I get the "Page cannot be located" error.  So after some searching, I found a post that said I needed to uninstall/reinstall Flash Player.  So I've now done the uninstall.  But when I go to the Adobe.com website and start the download for the latest version that'll work on my setup, again I get the "Page cannot be located" error.  When I try to go to customer service on the Adobe.com website, I also get this same "Page cannot be located" error.  Talk about frustrating!
Does anyone have a suggestion?  I do still have an older version of Flash Player ".dmg" file on the computer (version 11 vs. currently available version 14) and wonder if I should install the older version and then see if it will update to the current version...
    Please help!
    Pat

I had the same problem when I updated Flash last time.  Later versions of Flash screwed up all YouTube videos on a Mac still running Snow Leopard.
The last version of Flash I've used that works with Snow Leopard and YouTube (and almost any other web video) is 12.0.0.77.  This may be due to a Safari issue with Snow Leopard--I'm running 5.1.7.  Adobe says you have to change your Safari prefs/security to "Allow all plugins" and "Allow Java", but neither of these prefs appear in my version.
It's unfortunate, because Flash updates address security issues.

  • Disappointed with my new Ipad.  Cannot get youtube videos to run.  Videos run great on my Dell and Acer A210 tablet.  What am I doing wrong on the Ipad?

Cannot get my new IPad with Retina Display to run Youtube videos.  The IPad did run two videos but then it refused to run another video.  I have a Dell Inspiron and an Acer A210 Tablet that ran the same video I was trying to run on the IPad.  The Ipad just keeps trying to load the video, but never runs it.  Very disappointing since this is my first Apple product.  Any solutions to this problem?

What app are you using for the YouTube videos on your iPad? If trying to view in Safari it is likely that the videos not running use Flash. This is quite common and the iPad will not run Flash.
I use the Jasmine app for YouTube and have experienced no problems viewing videos.

  • Getting YouTube video to stop when ap div is hidden

    Hello.
I created a page where I inserted youtube videos in to ap divs stacked together and accessable via show/hide. However, if you play one video and select a link to move to the next video, the original video's audio can still be heard unless you manually stop the video before moving on.
I was wondering if there was a code to stop video when it's ap div is hidden.
    Thank you!

Sorry.  I don't know how you can do this with a YouTube video because you don't have access to the Flash file.  If this were your own flash file, you could program  a closing "X" over the Flash to stop player first, then execute the JavaScript to hide layer.
As an alternative, have you considered using a multi-video player with  XML playlist?  I haven't had time to test this with YouTube video links yet, but it looks promising.

  • I cannot get YouTube videos to play on the ipad.

Reboot, reload, installed YouTube app, it played 1/2 of a video and went back to "video is currently unavailable". It worked last week. Problem both with browser and app. Help!

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

  • Where can I SAFELY get download to import youtube video into iMovie?

I posted this in the iMovie section and have not gotten a reply, so I'm hoping you guys can help:
Cnet seems to have some programs that would meet my need to get youtube video into iMovie, but a search on the safety of cnet downloads reveals that many people claim to have gotten malware from there.  The last thing I'd want is to get anything bad on my brand new Air!  Would be grateful for suggestions from various people on a) what program to use b) where to safely download it.  Thank you in advance for helping.

just to be clear: that plugin is for Firefox, not Safari
after installation and relaunch of Firfox, you'll notice the spinning three balls, IF the plug-in recognizes 'downloadable' content - here: a youtube video.
clicking on that (very) tiny, grey triangle offers you some download options (in your language) ....

  • Youtube videos not working safari 8.0

Since upgrading to Yosemite 10.10 and Safari 8.0 I can not get YouTube videos to play.  I've updated everything offered by Apple.  But still no go.

    1. System Preferences >  Flash Player > Advanced >  Delete  All
         Press the "Delete All" button.
         Install Adobe Flash Player.
        http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
       Download it first.
       The next step is important.
Click Safari in the menubar and select “Quit Safari”.
Follow the prompts and install it.
        Restart computer. Relaunch Safari.
    2.  Allow  Plug-ins
        Safari > Preferences > Security
        Internet Plug-ins >  "Allow  plug-ins"
        Enable it.

  • Can I get Youtube to my iPod?

    Hi to everyone!
Okay, I was wondering how I could get Youtube videos into my iTunes and on to my Nano. I think I read somewhere that there is a way, I just need to find that article.
Thanks for any help in advance!

Okay , while I'm waiting for Sachem515 I discovered this book called _iPod, Fully Loaded_ by Andy Ihnatko and he has got quite a bit of stuff for downloading internet video to iTunes. I'm going to post a bit of what he says for other people to try out.
The first thing he says is that you can save the video file from the browser, a contextual menu or from a media player.
For an embedded video though, he says to get Quicktime Pro which has a Save As Quicktime Movie feature. Which is just dandy if you feel like forking over 30 bucks; no thankyou. (for me, anyway)
Another way for embedded video as he says is to view the page source while watching the video, this will open the HTML file. You then press Ctrl+F and search for the filename extension (or the word "embed") of that file. He says to try ".mov.", ".avi.", ".wmv.", ".flv." or "http://" and copy the URL into any open browser.
    Here's an example:
    <embed type="application/x-mplayerayer2" pluginspage="http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/Media/Player/"name="mediaplayer1" showstatusbar="1"EnableContextMenu="false" autostart="true"
    width="480" height="430"transparentstart="1" loop="0"controoler="true" src="http//f3.putfile.com/videos/al-13720364138.wmv"> </embed>
So, you would copy this,"http//f3.putfile.com/videos/al-13720364138.wmv" to an open browser. The file will open in its own player (from which you can save the file) or it will download to the computer.
He then says that if nothing works, to go to a website like Ed2345 said to do.
I haven't really tried this stuff out yet, but tell me if it works or if you had to go through some different steps. And tell me if you guys know any other video format that Youtube uses. Thanks in advance!

  • Youtube videos VERY slow to load

Has any one else out there had a problem with getting youtube videos to load. My desktop downloads youtube videos in Miliseconds, while the apple tv takes two minutes to download the same thing! We are all wired up, so no wireless problems. Podcasts and movies stream very quickly, just a problem with youtube. Does any one know if the videos are directly downloaded from youtube or do they go through apple servers of some type? I am flustered. Already returned one unit to the store for an exchange.
    HELP!

I worked with fuji master on this issue and have resolved it, sort of... Fuji's original 160GB AppleTV exhibited the symptom he described on several different WAN connections, although all were Portland Comcast.
Surprisingly, every 160GB (shipped with take 2) unit we tried had the same symptom but the 40GB models operated perfectly (on the same LAN and WAN). The 40GB was running the same version of the take 2 firmware as the 160GBs and all had been restored prior to testing. I am at a loss to explain how this could be a hardware-specific issue with YouTube, but my best guess is that some incompatibility existed between 160GB AppleTVs and YouTube.
Today, we configured and tested a new 160GB AppleTV (a firmware update occurred since previous testing) on the same network and YouTube loaded and operated normally.

  • YouTube videos will not load in Firefox

    Hi,
I cannot get YouTube videos to play in my desktop's Firefox browser. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit with Firefox 24.0.
I have searched for solutions to the problem, and tried all of these:
    -Completely clearing my cache
-Disabling ad blocking software on youtube.com
-Installing the latest version of RealPlayer
-Installing the latest version of Flash Player
None of these have worked. Every YouTube video I load just displays a large black rectangle.
    What should I do?

First, update your YouTube Center extension, which got two releases last month since the version you have installed. That might work using the built-in update check, or you may need to visit the Add-ons site:
    * Built-in: orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > "gear" button > Check for Updates
    * Add-ons page: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/youtube-center/ ''(Firefox restart needed for this update to take effect)''
    Does that fix it?
Although the latest RealPlayer / RealDownloader should work with current Flash players, you may want to test with those disabled. You can do that on these two tabs:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Plugins category<br>
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
    Does that make any difference?
Other standard steps for resolving Flash issues are as follows:
    (1) Disable hardware graphics acceleration in Firefox and in Flash
    (A) In Firefox, un-check the box here and restart:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > General > "Use hardware acceleration when available"
    (B) In Flash, see this support article from Adobe: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues
    (2) Disable protected mode (Windows Vista/7/8)
See this support article from Adobe under the heading "Last Resort": [http://forums.adobe.com/message/4468493#TemporaryWorkaround Adobe Forums: How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?]

  • Youtube videos won't play with Firefox.

Youtube is still working with Safari and Chrome but for some reason it stopped working with Firefox. This happened the night before it updated to Firefox 25. I thought the update was the issue but it's not. I've tried everything that I've read about to fix this issue. I've tried playing vids in safe mode, updated to the latest version of flash, disabled hardware acceleration, I've cleared all cookies and cache, I've reset firefox, I've deleted all my add-ons, I've deleted and re-installed firefox. Nothing is working. Anyone got a clue what to do?
    OSX 10.6.8 Macbook 2.4 Ghz

I have the same problem. I followed all of the above suggestions to no avail. Advertisements play fine. But when the skip option pops up, it doesn't count down smoothly from 5 -0 seconds. It will say, 5, 4, 5, 5, 4, and then sometimes you can skip ad. It doesn't matter if you skip ad or not. When the video comes up, it acts like it wants to load and play but will only play for a second, then restarts from beginning and says an error occured. Same thing in Explorer. And this is a brand new, Windows 7 64-bit computer. Is there anything else I can do to get Youtube videos to play?
