Gettting rid of the bookmarks section under url bar??

hey guys
i want to keep all my bookmarks, but only access them buy going to the bookmarks tab at the very top of the computer screen (in between history and window)
under the url and google bar and refresh button there is that whole bar with the quick clicks to your recent book marks...(its the bar with the little book button at the very left)
is there anyway to hide this? so under the url bar its the actual website...i know it wont make TOO much extra space on my window but its annoying, instead of clicking on one thing such as the back button, i accidently click on a bookmarked page thing every now and then.
thanks

Go to the View Menu>Hide Bookmarks Bar. If you want to remove the Tabs bar, disable Tabs by deselecting the various tab options in Safari Preferences>Tabs

OOPS! Too quick on the trigger to ask that question without trying anything. Sorry. Solved it by touching the bookmark icon.

  • How can I get rid of the "Bookmarks" Submenu in my Bookmark Toolbar - Tried everything!

I have a problem with FF that is driving me insane. I want to get rid of the "Bookmarks" Submenu which resides on the far RH side of the Bookmarks Toolbar, but it won't let me delete it. I have tried EVERYTHING to get it to go - Deleted preferences, deleted all of my bookmarks, tried customising the toolbar etc but it's still there. I have no need to a Bookmakr submenu in my Bookmark toolbar and I don't want it there, just taking up space. Is there any way at all I can get rid of it? Friends say that their FF doesn't have it, but I have tried a re-install and trashing prefs and it still won't go!
Could use some help with this - I am going mad.
    Thanks

OK - Now I have a new issue. Without the Bookmark sub menu in the Bookmark toolbar, I can't drag or add any links to the bookmark toolbar! Dragging, adding it via the Bookmark Panel etc. is fruitless. Is this normal behaviour? I don't get it - Why would I need a sub menu in my bookmark bar, when the whole reason for the bar being there is for me to add my own bookmark locations or even folders? There is no point having the bar, if it has a menu in it, since I have to open the menu anyway, so I may as well just open the bookmark menu. I can't believe this is the way it is designed.... Attached is a pic comparing what it looks like with the sub-menu in the bar and without. Note that in both cases the Bookmark Bar is visible.
This is not doing my intention to jump ship from Safari any good. So far the Bookmark management and RSS Set-up in Firefox is leaving a lot to be desired, and is looking decidedly dodgy....

  • How do I get rid of the Bookmarks tab, or customize the Navigation Pane?

I want to get rid of the bookmarks tab, I want only the "pages" tab to be open by default, whether the document has bookmarks or not. I know there's initial view but I need to set Acrobat to open the pages tab by default, not open it in bookmarks first, then change initial view to pages, then save.

    Right-click and de-select Bookmarks Toolbar.
    Or View > Toolbars

    Hi jchua77,
This feature is not there in Acrobat software.

  • HT4623 I cannot find the update section under Settings. What do I do?

I cannot find the update section under Settings. What do I do?

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1.3. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.

  • My iPad will not connect to the update section under the app store?

My iPad will not connect to the update section under the app store I've tried everything what do I do?

Can you download new apps? If you can, go to the App Store featured tab and do a search for one of the apps that tells you it needs an update. When the app appears in the search, tap on the app icon and the description window for the app will pop up. Try updating the app from there and see if that works.
Have you tried rebooting your router? Unplug it from power for about 30 seconds and then plug it in again?
Look at this article and see the section about the DNS settings on the iPad.

  • The bookmarks on my tool bar don't appear in my library. How do I restore

the bookmarks on my tool bar don't appear in my library. How do I restore?
I run Mac OS with time machine.

This can be caused by a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • I kept all my site-specific user IDs and passwords in the "notes" section under Organize Bookmarks. I can't find Organize Bookmarks any more, and the Show All Bookmarks doesn't have this feature! HELP!

Many sites require me to set up an account, and all have differing requirements for user names and passwords. In the old Firefox, in the Organize Bookmarks section, when you look at any bookmarked site, there was a place at the bottom (More...) where you could write notes to yourself. I used this space to write down my username and password for that site. Since I only visit some sites annually (to renew membership, etc or pay annual dues) I can't remember the passwords or user names. PLEASE tell me I haven't lost all that information! If I've lost all those passwords and user IDs I'm royally screwed! Thanks

Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

  • Changed to Fire Fox and brought my faves, bookmarks, cookies, etc, over with me, but I cant find my bookmarks at all, even in the bookmarks section. Any Ideas why?

Pretty much what I said in the title, ive tried importing them twice and its says it has worked, but I can't find them. Am I looking in the wrong place? I looked under bookmarks and the three different sections there...

You can usually find the imported IE Favorites in a folder ("From Internet Explorer") at the bottom of the Bookmarks Menu folder (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks).
If you can't find them in the "From Internet Explorer" folder then try this:
    * Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html): File > Import and Export
    * Import the HTML file in Firefox: Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML: From File

  • How do I delete the search feature from the bookmarks section (left side of the window when open)? Just the search feature in bookmarks.

I don't know if it's always been there, but there is a search box now at the top of my Bookmarks toolbar that opens on the left side of my window. When the Bookmarks toolbar is open the first thing is Bookmarks and the X to close bookmarks. Just below that is a search box. I don't have a lot of bookmarks and don't want the search box. How do I get rid of the search box?

Sounds that you have the bookmarks sidebar open.
*Toggle the Bookmarks sidebar on/off via "View > Sidebar > Bookmarks" or Ctrl+B (Command+B on Mac)
*Toggle the History sidebar on/off via "View > Sidebar > History" or Ctrl+H (Command+H on Mac)
You can find toolbar buttons to open the bookmarks (star) and the history (clock) in the sidebar in the toolbar palette and drag them on a toolbar.<br />
There are two bookmark buttons with a star in the Customize window.<br />
One star button has a drop marker that open a Bookmark menu (you may not see the drop marker in the Customize window).<br />
The other star button without the drop marker opens the bookmarks in the sidebar.

  • How do i get rid of the other section on itunes, how do i get rid of the other section on itunes

the "other" sections on my Iphone 4s and Ipod keep getting bigger. How do I minimize this?

Other includes data such as iPhone settings, contacts, calendar events, Safari bookmarks/cache/cookies, email and email attachments, SMS/MMS/iMessages, notes, data created and stored by a 3rd party apps.  Minimizing this data will conserve on the size of Other.  If it becomes unusally large (>2 GB) then there may be someting corrupt in it and you will need to restore your phone to correct this.
