  • Fx 5900 U with agp 8x runs in pci mode

I just bought a msi fx9500 ultra card with 8x agp but the configuration box shows it as a agp card running in pci mode, when i run dxdiag i cant enable agp.
i want the card to run in agp 8x mode, does someone knows a solution for this problem please help i am sure my mainboard supports 8x agp.
my harware congig looks like this:
    Intel 3.00 ghz
    1024 mb ddr kingston memory
875 p neo lsr mainboard from msi
    120 gb maxtor harddisk
and the msi geforce fx 5900 ultra vtd256 with 256 mb ddr

NewGamer you are running a system that locks you out of alot of the BIOS settings. An Intel board would work real good. It will give you most stable platform to build on and compatiblity second to none. only problem I have had with my new system was all ths crap software that came with the MSI video card. just make sure that after you install the operating system that u install the Chipset drivers first thing. by doing this it updates the INF files and things will be configured right. In the BIOS always have the plug and play OS set to NO that way windows will get it's instuctions from the system board for configuring things. and by the way my last system was a P3 933MHz with 512 MBs ram and a MX 440 card it played BF1942 fine, nice and smooth. I just lost alot of one on one fights the speed was not there.

ok am I an electrical engineer now what the hell is a rail ?
anyway there are no IRQ conflicts and my video card is plugged into the agp slot

  • GTi4600VTD (PCI Mode) help!

I'm running a NVidia2 chipset on a Asus A7N8X in WinXPPro and device manager shows my video card as PCI Interrupt 19 on Bus3,device 0, function 0,.  My VGA driver is Nvidia 4.1.0.9 and the card BIOS is 4.25.0025.
I cannot find any reference to AGP4X only to AGP (PCI Mode) under properties of card in Device Manager.
I cannot find way to update BIOS because Live Update2 will not remove from OS and new version will not complete install, probably because of old version.  This probably came about due to pathetic speed on MSI Server, which dumped me in middle of update.  Can anyone tell me what card should report in Device Manager, and if there is a Uninstall tool to clean the Registry of corrupted MSI software.  Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for the tip wonkanoby, I will give that a try.  I have had nothing but nasting things happen with MSI driver set.  The last was trying to use Live Update2 to flash video BIOS from 4.25.0025 to the new 5.25.00.27.32 but the program reports that there is no newer version even when it is displayed in the list of BIOS updates.  Go figure!  How do you do a manual flash without the fear of a crappy server crash as what happened when updating the update2 program.  It just stalled.  I choose to remove files downloaded and of coarse it did not do that, so the next update couldn't write the file, it said it was in use.  My list of things wrong with the MSI software is to long to post, that's why I'm just using the Nvidia detonator driver set.

  • Ti4200 x8 problem(only pci mode)

    hi,
    i have a msi 845e max motherboard and a msi geforce ti4200 with AGPx8.
my amy bios version is 5.70 and i use nvidia 41.09 drivers for the card.
when i go to display progerties and click on the settings tab and then "advanced" and then the "geforce4 ti 4200" tab, it says in the "bus type" :AGP(PCI mode).
why is the card in pci mode?
furthermore, in the display properties, in the msi information tab, it says bus type:AGP and in AGP information it says AGP revision no. 2.0 but it doesn't let me mark "AGP traffic enable" or mark any of the AGP speeds (1x,2x,4x,8x).
it lets me mark "sba enable" but i dont know what is it.
ive searched everywhere in the bios to change it but couldn't find nothing.
i knoe that i should have an "agp enable" option in the bios but it isnt there.
    can you help me?

  • PCI Mode

    Hi Everyone,
I've seen several posts about TI 4200 cards running in PCI Mode, which mine is doing.  When they say to reinstall the chipset drivers which one do you use?  if using the LiveUpdate would I run Live Driver?  A little confused on which option to choose.
    Thanks!

  • Msi geforce ti4200vtd 64 (PCI MODE)???

    specs:
    athlon xp 1700+
    msi k7n420 pro mobo
msi geforce ti4200 vtd 64 video
    256 pc2100 ddr
Using either msi or nvidia drivers, I can't get this out of pci mode.  Both card and mobo support 4x agp mode, but it only runs in pci mode.  Using msi drivers, changing to agp seems possible, but any check in the white box just disappears.  My 3dmark 2001se scores are about half what they were on a cheaper mobo using a 1gig duron.  Yes, the cpu settings are fine and it's running at its normal speed of 1.47ghz.  Nothing is overclocked.

    jeez, you are quick....thanks
i had the msi drivers, and it wouldn't let me change to agp anything... I uninstalled them and went to the detonator drivers, and agp is disabled in the ti4200 properties under the agp settings,
I dont see a place to enable it, and the slide scale to choose rate (1x,2x,4x?) won't move either.

  • Fx 5700 Agp (pci Mode)

    ok i have a :

    512 MB DDR 400
    Compaq Monitor
    DVD/CD-RW
    Asus P4800 Deluxe

    SoundMAX Audio
    53.03 Nvidia Drivers
I think the somewhat latest Asus drivers
    XP home
ok heres 2 problems i would like to fix
    1. in display properties, then the msi info tab, i cannot check or uncheck any of the boxes (AGP traffic enable, 8x, 4x, 2x, SBA enable, ect.). WHY??
2.in the nview tab, GeForce FX 5700, it says under adapter information that my "bus" is AGP (pci mode). I DONT WANT IT IN PCI MODE, but I cant seem to change it, not -one- option in BIOS lets me change ANYTHING about my AGP, and Ive spent a long time looking elsewhere.
I have sent emails to msi and my manufacturer (last tuesday, but no response yet (atari took 2 months to respond to an unreal 2 question)
    please help, im really frustrated.
    peace, Jon

My concern was that he couldn't select an AGP setting in the driver at all (according to his post) - this suggests that the GART driver is not loaded properly.
This is the MSI's drivers Information tab from how I understood his initial post, those are static check boxes and they are misleading, MSI made a boo boo just like calling the DOT monitor "Winsys.exe" that shows up in some anti trojan software as a worm...LOL, after all it is called an information tab.
Now the info pages such as "AGP settings"  in the actual Detonator/Forceware control panel that are enabled with coolbits installed cannot be changed in a 8x board VGA combination, I've even tried entering the BIOS and turning it down to 4X, the system comes up showig 4x and then 1X in the OS column...freakin weird.
Now this bit about showing 4X in the OS column is because the motherboard is native 4x or the card is, and I've seen it on Intel boards too, including VIA and nforce. For instance check this out http://www.nforcershq.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=42361&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
I'm with you on the BIOS subject..I wasn't scolding you or anything Sometimes things can be misinterpreted, asn sorry if I came off that way.
Oh BTW in all this I have reloaded the GART's and even pulled all chipset drivers and started from scratch to see if there was any difference. Give that link a read anyhoo
Theres more but I am really tired now.

  • MSI TI4200 AGP (PCI mode)

I recently installed a MSI G4 TI4200 128MB AGP8X.  It seems to be running fine, however, I noticed that in Display Properties, Adapter Information, it says the bus is "AGP (PCI Mode)". Also, under the Adapter "General" tab, it says the location is "PCI bus 1". This sounds like it is not fully using the AGP bus, correct?  The motherboard is a ECS K7S5A, so I realize it would only be 4x AGP.  Any thoughts?

    Deathstalker,
"If you are using the nVidia Drivers,"
Do you mean the nVidia reference drivers?  I am using the MSI drivers (latest v4107).  On the GeForce4 Ti4200 tab under Adapter Information it says "Bus:   AGP (PCI mode)".  Also, I forgot to mention before that on the MIS Information tab under AGP Information, neither the "AGP Traffic Enable", "8X", "4X", "2X", or "1X" check boxes are checkmarked and I am unable to checkmark them.  (SBA Enable is not checkmarked either, but I am not sure what that is.)
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Ti 4600 Running in PCI mode ?

    Hi,
I have downloaded the Squid & werewolf demo from the Nvidia site.... they seem to run very slow.... slower than my old Hercules Gforce 2 MX card ... Whys this ???
In the options I note it says ... Bus Type : AGP (PCI mode)
Is the card running in PCI mode or something ??? I thought it was a 4 x card ????
I have tried the drivers that came with the card and the Nvidia Detonator drivers... no difference ... Or do I need to turn something off ???

    512 Meg Ram

    lee,
    That does not sound right.
I was looking at your Mobo and it is a i845 DDR Chipset.  That is a good chipset for AGP Card unlike the Via Based motherboards.
Is your motherboard the 8IRX or the 8IRXP?
If it is the 8IRXP BIOS F5 fixed:
    Quote
Fixed easytune show incorrect PCI frequency when AGP/PCI divider is changed in BIOS setup
But that was the only hint of anything related to the AGP that was fixed by BIOS updates.
If your BIOS is not the latest, (8IRX-F9, 8IRXP-F7) you could try flashing the BIOS to the latest Version.
    Good Luck,
    Richard

  • TI4400 in PCI mode

Just put together a new system with a SOYO P4X400 motherboard and I can't get my TI 4400 card into AGP mode.  AGP is turned on in the mobo bios and drivers are loaded.  Under display settings it shows AGP (PCI Mode).  When I go into setting for the video card I can't check AGP setting ie 4x or 2x.  Also when I go into adapter properties it shows the location as PCI bus 1 but I am in the AGP slot.  What am I doing wrong or missing?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
