GF FX 5200 blink screen randomly with msi drivers
After fresh install of windows xp (no sp, sp1 and sp2), I have no problems with nvidia original drivers, but when I try to install msi drivers, sometimes the screen blink once and the screen doesn´t refresh the information, have to do it minimizing the active window. This problem only happen´s with 2D (normal usage) and when I click on video files, no problem with DOS programs, when running games (no problem with PSU) or videos.
Someone can tell me how to completely remove msi video drivers?
My system is:
MB MSI KT6 Delta
AMD duron 1.8GHz
512MB DDR400 Samsung
Seagate 80GB ATA and Seagate 80GB SATA
DVD-R LG GSA4081B and CD-RW Optorite CW5202
Hi,
1) Use Add/remove to delete your current VGA Driver. (do not reboot at this time)
2) Delete the C:/nvidia folder
3) Reboot
4) Run Driver Cleaner (Download Driver Cleaner 3 from driverheaven.com to remove all traces of your nvidia driver - read instructions)
5) Delete msicpl.dll (you may need to Search your PC for this entry (This is the MSI tabs)
6) Empty Recycle Bin
7) Install latest nvida drivers from nvidia.com
Good Luck,

Sudden video crashes/black screen flashing with MSI GTX 680 + MSI GT 640 (PhysX)
I've been running an MSI GTX 680 Lightning + MSI GT 640 (dedicated PhysX) setup since last September with excellent results. Most of my Steam games would crash in less than 10-15 minutes before I added the 640.
Just this week, however, I've noticed a new and different problem. While playing several different games, the monitor randomly flashes black, then the game stutters and finally my whole system crashes. I've never seen this before. The only thing that seems to correct the problem is to scale back the resolution from 2560x1600 to 1920x1200 or even 1280x800.
The problem seems to be getting worse. Now, while doing anything on my PC, the system freezes briefly, the screen rapidly goes black, then turns back on and system unfreezes. This happens 3-5 times in a cycle then stops. The cycle repeats every few minutes and happened twice while typing this post.
I've got the latest graphics and other component drivers installed. All diagnostics say the video cards are working properly, but these problems persist.
Are these indications of failing video cards? Any/all suggestions appreciated.
My system specs: MSI GTX 680 Lightning 2GB, MSI GT 640 1GB (dedicated PhysX), i5-2500K, Asus P8Z77-V, Coolermaster V8, 16GB Corsair Vengeance 1600, 4TB storage, Corsair HX1000, Dell 3008WFP, Windows 8 Pro 64-bit.First of all remove the GT640 so we can check if the issue is solely related to the GTX680. Then monitor temps in load and idle using Afterburner (>>How to use MSI Afterburner<<)
If problem presists when not using the GT640 remove current drivers in safe mode using >>Driver Fusion<< and install latest MSI driver (http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N680GTX-Lightning.html#/?div=Driver&os=All). Yes, I know that driver is older than Nvidia one but it is a surely working one with the special MSI design and features. -

[GeForce 6] doesn't have DOT menu with msi drivers
Hi, I have installed MSI 77.50 drivers with my GeForce NX6800-128 but I didn't have the menu to enable DOT, but before with les 6X.XX driver I had it :( , i tryed to uninstall and to install again driver but it still didn't work
what sould I do ???Quote from: Clark on 05-July-05, 10:51:27
On a related note.......according to the driver download page at MSI, version 77.50 driver is for the 7800 only. Am I missing something here?
On another note.......this page is a bit confusing because it appears the latest driver for my situation (NX6600GT AGP) is the 76.45. According to my Device Manager, I have version 71.22 which was right off the cd when I first purchased. I don't even see this version on the MSI list.
Can anyone confirm that v76.45 would be the right update for my system?
Thanks....
77.50 seems to be the best driver for Geforce6
thanks for your support, but it still doesn"t works after reinstallling the drivers, ans winsys.exe is running, but no DOT menu -
I have a MacBook Pro from 2009 and the screen randomly turns black on me for no reason while I'm using it? It takes anywhere from 5 seconds to 1 minute to turn back on and no matter what I do it just has to fix itself so idk if it is going in to sleep mode or what. Anyone know the issue? Thanks.
Run through them and stop after #16 or if the problem stops, or if something tells you something severe (like hardware test giving a error)
If you can backup your personal data off the machine, you should do that first.
Hardware issues we cant' fix, only a few things may fix it.
Software issues we can fix, but right now we don't know what is causing your issue as we can't see it obviously.
So your going through a process of elimination to try to give us a clue what's the problem and then we can advise a course of action.
If you feel this is way over your head, then just make a appointement with Apple and/or your local PC/Mac specialist.

Help! As of today, my iMac will not boot up. When I turn it on I get a blank white screen then, after about a minute, a blinking folder icon with a question mark in the middle.
Find your original install disk, insert it and re-boot holding the "C" key during startup. It will take longer but should boot. Then you need to select Disk Utilityfrom the Menu Bar. Do a Repair Disk on your hard drive. When it finishes re-boot normally.

Hi Everyone, I have tried all the solutions mentioned by apple and still have a white screen with a blinking file folder with a question mark in the center, anyone have any ideas or experienced this?
Nooo or you would use OS X Recovery Mode: Disk Utilty and then Startup Disk.

Tecra S2: strange dots on screen appearing with no reason and at random
Hello,
I have a Toshiba Tecra S2 laptop for almost a year now.
I formatted it 2 months ago and when i did this. i had stranges dots on my screen, appearing with no reason and at random. I dont have a clue where it came from and i decided to format my computer again.
I've installed the latest chipset driver from the intel website and then i've installed the latest driver from the toshiba site.
I've noticed the problem is back. so that didn't solve anything. What can I do about this?
PS, not only the dots, but i cant play games also.HI Jelle,
When you say that you formatted your notebook, did you completely re-install the operating system from the recovery discs ? If you did then the display should work correctly.
If you installed the operating system from Microsoft discs then you will need to download the correct Toshiba drivers for your Tecra from the Toshiba web site download page.

My computer turns to a white screen. In the center it blinks a suitcase with a question mark in the center. I can not access my desktop. Is this a malware virus?
Hi, likely neither.
What shows for boot choices if you hold alt or option key on startup?
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions. -

Is there a problem with my graphics card, my screen randomly goes black?
Hi all,
I've been noticing that my laptop screen randomly blacks out though the device still appears to be on. I end up doing a full shut down by pressing the power button for 5 seconds and restart thereafter. Although this has happened at various times, it most recently has been occurring while using Google Chrome. Right before the screen blacks, I tend to see a prompt in the upper right hand corner of the screen that says something like "Intel HD Graphics now in use" or something about gfxCardStatus. Obviously for now I've been limiting the use of Google Chrome, but I'd still like to know if there is a substantial problem here. I'm using a Macbookpro 15in OSX version 10.7.4, i5 intel core processor. After restarting, this is the error message that I receive and report to apple:

Can someone please help? This is also my first time posting so forgive me if I have not provided customary information.
Thanks!Looks like a failed graphics GPU. Run Apple's Hardware Test in extended mode 2-3 times back to back. If errors appear that confirms a hardware problem. The reason for running the test 2-3 times back to back is AHT does not always find errors on the first or second pass, however when it does find them it is correct.

This is my experience with MSI, and their NVIDIA GTX 570 reference card.
Hello my name is James king.
and This is my experience with MSI, and their NVIDIA GTX 570 reference card.
(5/27/12) Day one. I update my driver from Beta 301.24 To WHQL 301.42. and as you would expect, it worked. so i restart and go play kerbal space program (if you haven't played this go, play it now i love it) 5 minutes later it starts artifacting, eg. textures stretching, random green spots. "ugh" so i start troubleshooting, reinstall revert and so on. later i give up and go play Portal 2, i load the game opening screen i see lots (100-250) of little flickering green dots. first instincts says its the cable, test nope. then maybe the screen, test nope. i keep testing throughout the night, to no avail.
(5/28/12) so to the internet, for help. 3 hours later nothing, but people with bad cards. at opening i call NVIDIA Tech Support, they say to call MSI so i do. 3 calls no pick up, 4th call and i get a "Support technician" who is no help, says to fill out a RMA form online. and so i do more troubleshooting for the rest of the day. and i give up, and go to bed.
(5/29/12) i fill out a RMA form, end of day i get an email from MSI that says; "Dear Valued Customer [email] your RMA is pending approval, and you will get an email within 1 weak with shipping information.
(6/1/12) shipping information, instructions, but no shipping label.
(6/4/12) i ship the card, via UPS
(6/12/12) after using the most round about route eg. it got to MSI.

(6/14/12) email from MSI, says it is in procesing.
(6/20/12) email from MSI, saying they shipped it and that [this] is the tracking number.
(6/26/12) end of day. i receive the card, and see the case is badly scratched. i install it in my pc and hey it worked (for now). watch some YouTube, and go to play skyrim. start up load my save and i make one step, and my pc hard freezes. "sigh" half an hour later, i give up and go play minecraft 10 minutes in, and it hard freezes. so now more troubleshooting,5 hours later no luck.
(6/27/12) i have called MSI Tech Support 2 times, when they picked up the phone they say to call customer service. 7 calls later no pickup.
and that is it MSI have sent my on the run around too long.So are you asking us for help with your PC issues or simply complaining to us about your RMA which we on this forum have nothing to do with. We are MSI product users here the same as you and we are helping each other out with problems on their PCs with their MSI parts. If you need what help we can offer assisting you with a problem then start a new topic and we'll do the best we can to help you.

Netflix mode momentarily blinks (black) randomly on 58L9300U
My 4 month old 58L9300U was working fine until a few days ago. Now, whenever I enter the Netflix mode, the display screen momentarily blinks black randomly. The blinking will happen once or twice every second, then not for several seconds. Each blink is very short in duration...maybe 1/30th of a second...but very irritating, making the TV unwatchable.
The blinking begins immediately upon pressing the NETFLIX button...even as the mode starts up, and continues until I exit Netflix. That is, I do not need to be watching a movie. The blinking occurs while selecting a movie to watch and even when I PAUSE the movie.
This problem does not occur during over the air broadcasts. As mentioned, the problem started happening in the Netflix mode after 3 months of no problems.
I have disconnected and reconnected to Netflix using their recommended procedure with no improvement.
Disconnect and Reconnect the Netflix application
Launch the Netflix app.
Using the arrows on your remote, enter the following sequence:Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, Up, Up, Up, Up
Select Deactivate and exit the screen.
Restart the Netflix app and sign in to your account.
Any thoughts as to what is going on? Could it be that my ISP (Comcast) is causing the problem?I kind of doubt it could be related to the ISP, but I'm honestly not sure what's causing it. You might want to call customer support.

Recent Conversation with MSI and Neo4 overclocking "thing"
I had a recent email transaction with MSI if anyone is interested. I tried my best to represent the group, and I know we all experience the problem a little bit different which is why it has been hard to explain and fix. I tried to give them the best info to duplicate the issue in the lab. It seems clear at this point that MSI still isn't duplicating the issue. They are using 166 Mem Clock Index, and the HT freq of 3x and still not understanding the issue, hopefully I have gave them a guide to duplicate what we have been trying to say. Yes I have explained this to MSI before but I really feel I am getting somewhere with my last 2 emails. Once we get them to duplicate the results then I think we will all have our solution shortly. Before anyone says anything negative, at least they aren't saying, oh that's an overclocking problem we don't deal with that. Also remember how long it has taken to get many people to see the issue, this isn't easy to understand so just stay cool, don't say negative sh-t if you reply and we'll see how this pans out. It was actully kind of hard since I am sitting in a hotel room 500 miles away from the motherboard but I was able to use modbin6 to view the BIOS and since I have done this about 7 zillion times I remember the settings LMAO. They have their Venice to 2750, not bad...
Hello MSI Engineer,
The information you requested. The data you sent shows a Venice running at 166 Memclock index value at HT at 3x, the goal is to run at 200 Memclock Index and HT at 4x. In order to duplicate this issue in the lab here is my recommendation. It MUST be tried with a CBBID Winchester RevD CPU and a Venice Rev E CPU and the Gskill memory you have in dual channel. The issue happens everytime with a CBBID Winchester and less often with Venice.
Starting with the Venice 3500+, Set the following in BIOS
[Memclock Index] 200
[CAS# latency (Tcl)] 3
[Min RAS active] 11
[RAS to CAS delay] 6
[Row Precharge] 6
[User config mode] manual
[bottom of 32 bit] (default)
[1T/2T] 1T
[Read Preamble] 6ns (default)
[Async Latency] 6ns (default)
[S/W mem hole] Disable (default)
[H/W mem hole] Disable (default)
[MTRR mapping] Continuous (default)
[High Performance] manual
[Agreessive timing] Disable
[Dynamic Overclocking] Disable
[Adjust CPU FSB Frequency] 200
[HT Frequncy] 4
[HT Width] 16 up 16 down
[CPU Spread] Disable
[SATA Spread] Disable
[PCI Spread] Disable
[PCIe Clock] 101
[SSE/SSE2] Enable
[CnQ] Disable
[CPU Ratio] 11x
[Adjust CPU VID] 1.45
[Extra CPU Voltage] your choice for stability
[Mem Volt] your choice for stability
[NF4 Volt] your choice for stability
Now boot into Windows. Using Clockgen, increase HTT to 250. This should be stable based on your screen shot and your RAM modules. Now having a CPU 2750Mhz, RAM at 250Mhz, and a HT of 4x250(1000). Test for stablity with Prime95 or other Stress Testing tool. Now we can say motherboard is stable at 2750Mhz CPU, 250Mhz RAM, and HT 4x250(1000). Now return to the BIOS at set the following
[Adjust CPU FSB Frequency] 250
This reults in a no POST condition for me and others. Now install the CBBID, except you will have to set a lower CPU max speed based on CBBID overclocking potential. In the BIOS, Return [Adjust CPU FSB frequency] to 200, Perhaps [CPU ratio] of 10x or 9x but a [Memory Clock Index] 200Mhz. Boot to Windows and use Clockgen to raise HTT to 250 again. Once you find a [CPU Ratio] that will have a STABLE overclock with a 250HTT. Return to the BIOS and set [Adjust CPU FSB Frequency] to 250. Try and POST. Try this experiment with the 3.1, 3.3, and 3.4 BIOS's. For the CBBID and the 3.1 BIOS you should be able to change the [HT Freq] to 3x, 2x or 1x and get a POST with [FSB Freq] 250, [Memclock Index] 200, and a known stable [CPU Ratio] you found in Windows. The 3.3, and 3.4 BIOS have made this work around not possible. Why does [HT Freq] 4x work in windows but not at POST time?
As a side note. The 1.3 BIOS for the 7125 works with the Venice, and the 1.4 and 1.5 do NOT. So somewhere between the 1.3 and 1.4 MSI created the issue on the Venice. Perhaps that is where you can find the answer and solution to the problem.
Here are some articles that describe the issue on a ECS and Chaintech board that were remidied by a BIOS update. So the problem is not uncommon and should be able to be fixed.

Here is some other users data of NF4 SLI and Ultra MSI Neo4's if you want to see some other BIOS settings.
https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=81364.0
Here is a screen shot of my Neo4 Plat SLI (MS-7100) 3.1 BIOS and CBBID Winchester(The Venice will NOT POST at all above [Adj CPU Freq] ~219-229 under any situation but is stable in Windows at HTT 250 with Clockgen). The system is stable and POST's when [HT Freq] is 3x, it will NOT at [HT freq] 4x which is stable in windows but won't POST.

Here is another screenshot of the Asus A8N Plat SLI with all peripherals the same. Only changed the motherboard. This is POSTing at [HT Freq] 4x. This is just as a reference that the components do indeed POST with [Adjust FSB freq] 250, [Memclock Index] 200, and [HT Freq] 4x. This board will POST both my 3200+ Venice and Winchester CBBID at the settings described above.

The following are my BIOS settings that will create a non-POST condition, but the board is stable at these settings when ADJUSTED FROM WINDOWS.

Good news and good work guy's
On a side note to chakkasol....
are you using coolbits 1 or 2?
I heard that coolbits2 is the one for our later cards
Good question - coolbits 2. I happened to take a chance from this website and downloaded this file...ran it up against my antivirus and antispyware software and it looked clean. I simply ran the program and viola, coolbits functionality automatically added to the winxp registry. I cleaned out the msi DOT drivers first before I loaded this program. Even though I have tweaked on occasion the winxp registry to speed things up and make winxp shut down quicker, this was too complicated for me to do on my own.
The highest overclock with the MSIs DOT is 11% at 555/1100. My MSI card is actually very stable at 580/1160 for a 16% overclock. I have gotten it to 600/1200 but I usually run the coolbits stability program a few times and it has never failed at 580/1160. I am sure if I had a better cooling system than the stock fan it would probably go to 600/1200 or higher. At a 3DMark05 of 4133 (and much higher if I could get it stable at 600/1200, I would be bumping up against the stock speeds of the 6800s vid cards.
EDIT: Of course, if you download this coolbits 2 program you do so at your own risk...I take no responsibility for the download.
The coolbits download:

The MSI 6600gt card that I purchased:
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=321916
btw, I have ordered more stuff from ZZF than newegg...they seem cheaper (but dont always have the stock of newegg) and the stuff gets here 1 day sooner usually (west coast to east coast USA).

Massive mp3 file(path) move question
Alright so I recently purchased a 2 terabyte network server for my home network. The purpose of this is to move all my music, movies, photos, etc. to the network drive in order to clear out all that space on my laptop's drive. At this point and time,
