Gf4 4600 TV in?

Hello,
I just picked up the geforce 4600 with the VIVO option.  So far everything is great.  I plugged my cable box into the video in port and it captures beautifully. My question is: is there some type of software I can used to actually watch TV using this?  I tried install the TV software on the CD, but its telling me I don't have drivers installed. But I believe that was for the actual tv card...
It just seems kinda wierd that I can watch TV if I use the video editing(capture) software, but I just can't plainly watch tv....
I though about making a VB application and just importing the COM for the capture and making it full screen or sizable, but I was wondering if this was already done.  I don't really care about changing the channel or anything, I have a remote to do that, just want to watch tv. Be kinda cool to watch  a hockey game while working on the computer.
Thanks for any thoughts,
Paul

I've had a few card that were picky about tv in and out. I learned that it all works out best, if you have the in and out actually hooked up before you install the drivers. My PNY was persistant about this, if I wanted my video out to work, I had to have my TV plugged in before I installed everyhthing.
I am using a digital cable box with the S cable. In  Power producer, I have to select VCR and select S cable for it to work. Power VCR II works great by just right clicking on the screen and selecting S cable as imput. Premiere I have not tied.
I just started up win producer, and a strange thing happened. It not recognizing my video in.  I used to just go to settings, select s cable for video in, but now its not recognizing it. Strange....
I Wonder if the cyberlink programs  overwrote something it needed.
ooops.... Just fixed it, you can't have more than one application using the capture.  I closed 'em all out, and opened up win producer and it works fine.  IN producer, go to the bottom left tab "Input Source", then click on the nVidie WDM..." right click, properties, select input as whatever you are using, in my case S-video.
The power VCR II works great, and it comes with a timer to record programs.  I think there is a demo on the website, or just use grokster ( don't forget to dig up a keygen...) BUt the product is only $40, so help the programmers, and buy the product if you like it and it works.
Good luck!

I reestarted it, and in DOS-mode the fonts were corrupt i think, a lot of errors with the collors too. When windows was starting the PC reboot again, and was like that forever. I got a RMA through NEWEGG.com and MSI.  I ended up sending it to NEWEGG.  RMA- Return Merchandise Authorization
Mine started out doing it every so often.  Then It was non stop.  I did a complete system rebuild and it still did it.  I stuck in a GF3 And a GF4 4200 and they worked fine.  I was the First time I ever had an Issue with a MSI product.  It was just one of those things.

  • Gf4-4200 Ms8870 Bios

Just got went to do the Live VGA Bios update on my MS8870 GF4 4200 and ahh...
well, it update to Version 4.25.00.29.00 (latest version).
Upon reboot, everything is garbled.... "4's" everywhere!
Card now reads as a GF4 4600 upon boot prior to POST????
Anyone know where I can get an older version of the BIOS to flash it back to a prior version? Any FTP access??? Live VGA BIOS will not go back...
    Please let me know.
    Thanks much!

If you properly flashed the card and still have this problem, then it's RMA time.
GlennVidia....thanks for all the help! We did find the link and got the file.
Flashed the BIOS with the right file and it is reading correctly.
Still having the problem though. Interestingly enough....the reason is is reading as a TI 4600 card prior to POST is because of the "4's" that UPTOWN is referring to above. After looking at this and beating ourselves up all morning with the BIOS (thinking the flash didn't work and verifying what was flashed, comparing data, etc.), we started looking at the "colums" that the "4's" are going down. (Bear with me cuz I know this is odd)....
It should show as such when first booting and the card pops up:
    Geforce 4 TI 4200
    128MB
    etc.
But what is doing is this...
    Geforce 4 TI 4600    44     44   44    44
    128MB           44      44     44   44    44
    etc.              44      44      44  44    44
                        44      44      44  44     44
                        44      44      44   44    44
                        44      44      44   44    44
                        44      44      44 .....etc. etc...
(Columns are not going to show up correctly in this post, but you get the jist..)
As you can see from above, the column where it should be reading as a "4200" is reading as a "4600"...but the "2" is being changed to a "6" because of the issues with the "4's". The reason we know this... is when the system posts or we load up using an EBD.....it changed all the characters in those specific colums to completely different characters when booting (another example: R's show up as T's....I hope this all makes sense since I am typing it out vs. being able to see what I am talking about)
The problem was never with the Video BIOS...although it happened right around the time the  Live VGA BIOS update was ran on this card from what I was told. Memory problem on a brand new board. Believe that??
    *sigh*
RMA time! I can't do a thing else with it.
Thanks for all of your help again bud. We really, really appreciate it.

  • GF4 Ti4800 SE bad peformence

I got a GF4 Ti4800 SE, and i cant get good peformance with it.
I play most Unreal Tournament and UT 2003.
My fps in Unreal Tournament is really lousy  :(
    A friend to me got a GF4 4600
When we are at the same spot in UT he has fps like 120 average, and i got 60....sucks imo
I have tried everything i think, Drivers, BIOS, fixing  adjustments in the card etc etc........
    When i did a 3Dmark2001SE test, i got poor 5178 result  8o
I would be very happy if i could get some help    )
    /Mania

You know, no matter what way you cut it, you 4800 (Which I have) has a 4200 engine.... there is no way that it can compare to the top of the line GF4 card, the 4600ti ... take a look for yourself.... power tweaks ect won't help.... a 8x AGP slot may help.... I get the same FPS in unreal that you do, about 60 +/- on any map... I run a ASUS MB with a AMD 2000 XP and 512 gig ram...  rember this... you bought the card cauze it was a deal... and that's what you got... the human eye can only see 23-30 FPS anyway, so as long as it doesn't drop too much, I would not worry about it, wait for the top of the line FX cards to drop, and then buy that....   btw, here's that link http://www.nvidia.com/page/geforce4ti.html

  • Dead MSI 4600 Ti - Killed by K7NG ILSR BIOS ?

Bios update via Live Update killed my MSI GF 4 4600
    Hya folks
I wrote about my problem in BIOS forum too, but I got no solution. So I ask you guys here if you could help me out.
This is what I did with my new K7NG ILSR mainboard:
    1. Launched MSI Live Update
    2. Made it search for a new bios for my mobo K7N2G ILSR (6570)
    3. It found new ver. 1.2 bios
    4. I downloaded it via Update & flashed using it in Windows XP Prof
    5. Flash ended in error pop up saying 'error in flashing vga bios' & that should do this manually (windows & pc as whole worked ok at this point)
    6. I reflashed using Live update & this time floppy & everything went ok!
    7. Rebooted into Win XP Prof as adviced
    8. But no go! My pc's D-Bracket indicates that there are problems occurring when 'initializing video interface'
    9. As a result of flashing my MSI GF 4600 TI VDT works no more!
    10. I took out the GF 4 4600 TI and switched to integrated graphics & it works fine (using it now)
My worried question is 'What happened to my gf4 4600 ti coz it works no more in my pc? I tested the GF 4 in another pc and it didn't work on thet either - so it really is dead!
I did everything by the book so to speak. My pc case was closed through all the process, short circuits are out of the question. I doubt this is a power supply or memory module related issue becays the pc worked on beefore the flashi process. I really think that Live Update somehow messed the bios of my MSI GF 4 4600 TI VDT.
    My rig is as follows:
    AMD 2600+
    2*512 333mhz Apacer ddr-ram
MSI K7N2G ILSR mobo (now bios 1.2)
    Enermax 350 W Power
    Windows XP Prof
Help me out if you can!
    1. Can I flash my MSI GF 4 4600 TI VDT with original bios for that card?
    2. Where I could get the bios & flash utility needed?
    3. How could I flash my GF 4 4600 TI (do I need a pci displayadater to do it?)
    I really would appreciate help!
    Best wishes, Tatu

I've been busting my head to find out what happened. I've cheched, double quadruple checked everything I did.
I can see no reason why a such thing should happen!
So I think it just was one of those weird coincidences: two separate thing happening at the same time & one  looks like the reason of another but is not.
    I RMA my card! ;(
BTW - The mainboard (K7NG LISR) is great!
    Best wishes, Tatu Heiskanen

  • GF4 MX 420 conflict with cpu

I got a MSI GF4 MX 420-T video card that the only way I can get xp pro to come up all the way is with it disabled or safe mode. It appers updating bios on video card and drivers doesn't help. I'm using AD11 rev. 1.2a FIC motherboard with ABB43 bios, Duron 1GHZ cpu.
When I have video card disabled on boot up. XP loads up with out a problem but when I re-enable the video card and look at resorces the is a resorce problem with the CPU.
Also with video card disabled: I try to use any high/intesive graphic program it crashes on load up.
Any so Ideas on how to fix the problem? (I'm plum out)

well, I installed all the latest drivers for my motherboard, and video card still was not coming up in to xp pro desktop. I seen other post with problems with power supply so, I now have a 350W instead of 250W, still have the same problem. I can disable the card and use xp but any time I try to use fireworks or any game with 2d/3d graphics it has a rendering problem and crashes and the screan on some that do come up is realy dark. I took my friend's Gf4 4600 video card in and it works with-out a problem. it worked great, to bad I had to return the card.

  • Problems with KT4V and AtiRadeon 9700 Pro...

    Hi all,
I have lots of problems with my current configuration with games (lock ups) and even in normal use. Also I'm not able to run 3DMark through to see with kind of results would I get. Car chase (high) gets very low fps and the nature test doesn't even work. I have tried different 4in1 drivers and BIOS versions. With 1.6 BIOS version I had lots of CRC errors (should be corrected in BIOS ver. 1.7 but in expense of data rate?).  Does anyone have any suggestions so that I could for example go through the 3DMark even with the expense of performance?
I had those game lock up problems also earlier with KT7A-100 RAID + AtiRadeon 64 (3DMark worked) so I bought new graphic card (didn't help) and after that I bought the new mobo. I know my config is not the best in the world, but I think it should be enough to give some happy moments in ever so demanding games... for a while...
There is also one thing that is quite strange. In my display adapters there is two drivers for AtiRadeon (primary in AGP and secondary in PCI)? I'm not expert, but isn't that weird? I have tried installing different drivers again and again (also reinstalled OS) with no luck! Trying to delete the secondary one doesn't help...
    Help..........!
    My specs:
    MSI KT4V (MS-6712)  4in1 Hyperion 4.45, BIOS ver 1.0
    AMD TM 1.2 GHz CPU
    ATX pro3 (300W)
    WIN 98SE
    512 MB DDR (333)
    SAMSUNG 40 GB (5400 RPM)
    SAMSUNG DVD
    ATIRADEON 9700 Pro (Club 3D)  Catalyst 3.0
    Soundblaster Live!

the 9700 is the most powerfull vga to date and needs power evan more than a gf4 4600
i would lbe looking at some think like an antec true powe 430 watt psu not a basic 300 watter
with ati,s own cards you need revision 1.3 as well best i can recall, but yours is an oem so im not sure
a search for 9700 in this section will get you lots of threads

  • MSI K7D Dual AMD PCI Bridge Help

I noticed in the Device Mgr, there is a question mark next to other devices, and below it,  there is an exclamation/question mark next to Other PCI Bridge Device.
What is this Other PCI Bridge Device?  Is there a driver for it or is this a hardware problem?  How do I fix that?
    I have a MSI K7D Dual AMD 2400MP, 2GB Mushkin ECC RAM, GF4 4600 Video card, and using Win2k.
    Thanks.

with dual motherboard you should have a 2nd IRQ controler is that installed? maybe its that "other"
with a dual motherboard you should have 255 IRQ's

  • Harddisk error on 6590 with winXP

Anyone seen this error before?  It started appearing after I got this board.
I'm running an Athlon XP 2400+
    GF4 4600
    2x Seagate 40GB
    40x burner
    52x cd-rom
    512 PC2700 DDR
    SBLive Value
    Intel 10/100 NIC
    BIOS 1.2
    Error in event log is:
The device, \Device\Harddisk2\D, is not ready for access yet.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
of course if you click on the link it gives you it says "sorry, we don't know whats wrong with it"
It's a pain because when I have to transfer a lot of large files from one drive to the other, the systme will sometimes reboot itself.
    Help??

It's a 300 watt Antec power supply.  I wouldn't think that is the issue since the same case housed a massive dual Xeon system with cards galore and 6 harddrives.
Also, I error said harddisk 2\D, so I disconnected me 2nd drive containing the d partition.  The error switched to harddisk1.  I also replaced the drive to check for a drive problem and it gets the same errors.  I'm was starting to think I had a bad IDE port until i started seeing all the posts here about the 6590.

    Hi gruberstuber,
It sounds horribly like you're IBM Deskstar may be living up to it's more threatening nickname of DeathStar. These HDDs have a pretty awful history for reliability and from the symptoms you describe, I would be feeling pretty nervous about continuing with it.
Do you have access to another known good HDD at all, preferably from Western Digital or Maxtor? If you do, it would be worth substituting your IBM for one of these and giving that a go. Might work wonders.
It's not as likely, but it's possible that your PSU is rated slightly to small for the Graphics Card you're using. The GF4 4600 is notoriously power hungry and it is possible that this could be drawing your main voltages down to below -5% of the nominal voltage, this can cause you all sorts of weird problems. As a guide, you can't really tell if a PSU is holding up OK under load conditions by checking the voltages when the system is unloaded, all PSU's will give you terrific voltages in that situation.
I would go up to at least a 400W good quality PSU from either Antec or Enermax to be absolutely sure that the GF4 4600 is being catered for.
    All the best,
    Dimal.

  • MSI Geforce Ti4400 possible on K7T266 pro mb?

I am thinking of buying myself a MSI Geforce Ti4400 card to my MSI K7T 266 Pro motherboard. I know there were some issues regarding Gf4 cards, but as far as I know it only applies to the mx versions of the cards, or am I wrong here?
There aren´t any problems fitting the card to the mb I hope (like transitors in the way etc..).
    Thanks!

  • Msi ti4600 freezing?

Hi, I'm running into problems frequently on my recently purchased msi ti4600-vtd card (MS-8872).  Everytime I try to play any game, it freezes up after a few minutes or seconds.  For example, When I play No one lives forever, it freezes up after 5-10 minutes into the game.
I have tried downloading the latest Nvidia drivers (41.09) from there site but was still getting the same problem. Currently, I have 31.00 drivers from MSI and bios version; 4.25.00.27.33.
Also, once in a while, I get an error screen and it lists the file(s) that could possibly be causing the problem (nv.....) which I'm guessing are all video card base drivers.  The only way is to reboot my pc which I am starting to get annoyed of.
Someone, Please help me resolve my problem.
    Thank you
I have the A7N8X Deluxe motherboard using the onboard sound.
    Amd Athlon XP 2000+

that psu is good only for 180 watts combined but it does for some manage a gf4 4600
    we say over 200 with a gf4
remove the lights etc just main drive and vga card and try,no cds etc
never seen a programme like that
