GF4 Ti4200 8X (TD8X) connector type

I was thinking of buying an MSI card, one of the Ti4200 flavors. I was wondering if the TD8X card (MS-8894-070) had a universal agp connector on it, or will it work in my agp 1.0 motherboard?
Thanks,
Rod

Rod,
It will not work in an AGP 1.0 Motherboard.
Sorry,
Richard

  • GF4 TI4200 BSOD Dilemma - Please help!

    Greetings gurus and fellow frustrated gamers.  I purchased MSI's GF4 TI4200 about a year ago and have been putting up with a problem I thought was related to other components for a long time.  Every single 3D graphics game I play in windows XP will eventually and utterly crash with a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) which relates always to the nv4_dsp.dll file which is Nvidia's driver.  I have tried 12 drivers...MSI/NVidia/experimental with no change.  With help from the folks on the forum I replaced the PSU with an Antec 400w with no change.  I have tried my old Geforce2 MX400 with the same problem.  I have reformatted the computer 8 times and removed every single additional component except what was required to test my problem.  I just purchased Star Wars Galaxies and am now crashing 8-15 times a day.  I generally go 20-30 minutes between crashes.  This is no longer acceptable.  I have received this crash on Warcraft III, WC3:TFT, Neverwinter Nights, SWG, Black & White, and many more.
    I have found through search engines that this has something to do with some Windows XP systems and Nvidia drivers and is an issue that does not have a fix.  I am hoping that you can offer something that I can do to fix this problem.
    Before you ask...this has nothing to do with any other component in my computer.  It is not heat, the psu, the motherboard, the memory, the hard drives, etc.  I have replaced every single piece in this computer and it still occurs.  Check out this link for an example of someone else with the same problem: Similar Problem or use a search engine and type: nv4 blue screen.  You will see what I mean...this is happening to tons of people.
    My question: Is there a fix?
    Any help is most appreciated.  If there is not a fix, ATI is my only direction I can take.

    Richard,
    Well you are right about it not using IRQ 5, however, it is not conflicting with any other IRQ that I can see.  The view under resources by connection reads:

  • GF4 Ti4200/Vivo - Video capture pauses

    Hi All,
    Did a search and could not find anything on this topic.
    When capturing video from S-Video input, the video is not smooth.  Getting momentary 'pauses' that leads to very jerky video on playback.  I've checked the 'smooth video' option, but to no avail.
    System specs:
    MSI (oem'd Medion) MS-8889 GF4 TI4200 128MB Video card
    P4 2.66 CPU
    768M PC2700 DDR
    120GB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM ATA133
    Original Shipped drivers for Video and WDM Capture (30.30 Video and 1.1 WDM)
    Any help would be appreciated.
    TIA,
    SteveK

    Well, I tried capturing with Virtualdub and it works much better (no pauses or stutters).  But there is a fairly large number of dropped frames (about 20% dropped).
    I've taken all of the standard steps to avoid dropped frames....no network access (no netowrk plugged in), no TSRs running, no antivirus, running with DMA enabled, hard disk is de-fragged (although I am running with a single hdd partitioned into 3 logical drives.  CPU is a P4-2.66Mhz, so there's plenty of horsepower.  The video card is an MSI-8889 (GF4 TI4200 8x w/128MB) ViVo. O/S is XP.  Mobo is an MSI-6701 (SiS Chipset).
    I believe the Vivo is stricly software capture, so the results are directly related to the software used for capture.
    Can anyone recommend (or use) another capture product for this type of card (with good results)?
    TIA,
    SteveK

  • Nvidia GF4 Ti4200 Driver problems!!!

    I have built up a new system with the following:
    MSI K7N2G-ILSR
    nVIDIA GF4 Ti4200 128mb DDR
    AMD XP2400+
    512MB 333 DDR
    PSU 350W
    WD 80GB Caviar (partitioned)
    Thermaltake Volcano 9 HSF
    I have installed XP-PRO (+SP1). The problem I have is the drivers.  First off I install the nFORCE 2 platform drivers - Fine, then I install the VGA Driver disc 40.72's. According to the installation, all is fine.  When the system reboots, we have a no go (blank screen). I then need to go back to last known settings....yeah, yeah!
    So far I have downloaded nearly all the drivers off the Nvidia site as well, using my other PC. (1MB CABLE).  Each one cause pretty much the same problem, including all the WHQL versions.
    I even downloaded the Nvidia nFORCE 2 platform package, which included a VGA driver.  This still caused the same result.
    My next step was to swap over with my other PC.  Once I inserted a GeForce2 64MB DDR PRO/GTS, all appears fine, the drivers install...no problem.
    I insert the GF4 Ti4200 into my ECS K7S5A, and low and behold all is fine here.....drivers, no problems.
    Any idea's......anyone??????
    Like compatibility problem or what..... I'm totally lost and confused now!!

    "uninstall the driver in safe mode and the Reg entry in WinXp "
    Explain exactly what you mean, I can choose start up in safe mode yes, but what will that do for me??
    gfilitti:
    Not sure exactly what specs you want? this is my first build ever.  The PSU is a bog standard fitment inside an ATX Case, not a separate fitment.  Can you be more specific about "timing etc..."
    The Ti4200 is working fine in my less advanced ECS K7S5A machine......with 300W PSU.
    And likewise the Nforce 2 machine operates my Geforce 2 GTS/PRO also with no problems.

  • Slow gf4 Ti4200

    I'm having a problem with my gf4 Ti4200. It runs at slow framerates even at lower resolution and graphics during games. Ive tested with Nightfire and UT2003 and my friends PC with gf2 runs better. Its in 4x mode and ive been told about dma. whats dma?
    Are there any other suggestions anyone has that may increase my gf4's performance?

    Im beginning to lose my patience with this machine. Im not very technical with a computer so i really need your help. Ive managed to pin point the problem with 3Dmark2001. The highpolygon test with 8 lights shows the same problem i have with direct3D games, a very stunted (unsmooth) movement and i get 9.0Mtriangles/sec (Not sure if thats good or bad).
    Ive looked at other threads, and one struck me as odd about installing a new mouse seemed to interfer with the video card. The link is here and its the third post down:
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/e_service/...10433boardid=9
    It sounded like he was having the same problem as me, and i have recently installed a new mouse and keyboard but hadn't registered that this could be a problem.
    I was hoping i had an incorrect direct3D setting or something to do wiht multilights or multipolygons. Opengl works fine, its just the direct3D. Im struggling here. Can someone please help me.

  • Problem w/GF4 Ti4200 vtd-8x

    I had problems with my new MSI GF4 Ti4200 vtd-8x 128mb running on a 648 Max mobo. The mobo supports agp 8x but both riva tuner and display properties showed it running on agp 4x. I would really appreciate any help I can get.

    Try updating both mobo and VGA card drivers.
    Do clean un-installation before installing new VGA driver...

    What connector type is used to plug a guitar into an iPad?  Does it connect to the earphone jack?

    Actually you can get something like this from your local mac store. http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/irig/ It plugs right into the earphone jack and works fine (I own this model and it works well on the go). For my actual mac, I use a Monster iStudioLink, which I have heard will work with the iPad 2 (but with some bugs - see the comments on the Monster website) http://www.monstercable.com/productdisplay.asp?pin=2440

  • GF4 Ti4200 and Win98 - HELP ! serious problem with drivers !

    Ok, I could successfully install the MSI GF4 Ti4200 128 in Windows 2000, no problem there, everything is working.
    I then installed Win98 as a second OS, I launch the drivers setup (from MSI CD) and I reboot as wanted by the setup. The PC reboots, the Win98 screen appears and suddenly...it reboots by itself, no message, no black screen.  I tried with other driver versions from NVidia and this time, I get a freezed black screen after the Win98 screen, I must press reset.  I had to enter the safe-mode to remove the drivers and get the usual 640x480 in 16 colors.
    What's going on ? I tried to change my bios parameters, disable the virus detection option, everything that could make problems ... but no success. I also tried a second Win98 installation, with DX 8.1 installed before the drivers but still the same problem.
    My system is AMD XP 2100 with Asus A7V333 motherboard - 300W for power, is the problem caused by some VIA chips ? I tried with their 4-1 drivers and stuff on the CD but it really doesn't want to work.
    Please help...

    after searching a bit on the forum, I found a thread where someone pointed out a problem caused by memory, greets to him.  I have 1 gb of ram and I added these lines to my system.ini :
    [vcache]
    MinFileCache=65536
    MaxFileCache=131072
    ChunkSize=2048
    NameCache=4096
    DirectoryCache=96
    ConservativeSwapFileUsage=1
    Values may change with more/less memory...And now it works perfectly in Win98.

    I saw an add for an HDMI cable that I was wondering whether anyone could tell me if compatible w the Droid Charge?  It's about half the price of the Verizon sold cable which is not available anyway.  Both Samung and Verizon support simply gave up and could not even tell me the connector type I needed!
    Here's the info from the add:

  • GF4 ti4200 and capturing DV

    I just got my GF4 Ti4200 8x yesterday and have had great success with everything except capturing digital video via my 1394 firewire card.  Previous the GF4, I had a GF2 ti that was able to capture video perfectly, but ever since I installed the GF4 I cannot capture video via the firewire controller, only the video in port on the card.  However I've noticed something interesting that makes me want to think it has something to do with the card:  I installed the Intervideo WinProducer that came with my card and it can capture digital video via the 1394 card without crashing like Premiere and the software that came with my camcorder; however when I try to play back the video it gives me that ugly blocky video with the logo and the scrolling subtitles that say my trial has expired  ?(  how can it be expired if I just bought it and entered the key on the cd?  Anyways, thanks for any help.

    You have 2 capture sources, you need the software to be able to allow you to select the one you want.
    You should try virtualdub, supposed to be good and it's free.

  • PA-POS-OC3-LR Sc connector type?

    Hi to all,
    What I need to know is what kind of connector use the PA-POS-OC3-LR. I can see in the manual that is SC connector but it does not specify if it´s SC/PC or SC/APC,
    Could you confirm it to me?
    Thanks in advance!!
    Jorge Gómez

    Should be SC/PC.
    I've never seen a piece of Cisco equipment that uses SC/APC. When they bother to specify more than just SC in the documentation, it's always been SC/PC.
    There are other connector types that are compatible with SC/PC: for example, SC/SPC or SC/UPC. However, SC/APC is NOT compatible with anything else except SC/APC. That's why they generally make the APC connector body or the strain relief behind it green in color, to distinguish it from other types.
    If you connect an SC/APC to something other than SC/APC, the result will be more insertion and return loss than either connector type would produce on its own.
    Search http://www.cisco.com for the term "SC/APC" and you will find warnings that connecting an SC/APC connector to some Cisco equipment can damage the receiving optics.
    Stay away from SC/APC unless you know you need it. You'll know when you need it: they'll tell you.

    Hi everyone, I hope u can help me with this:
    I'm planning on buying a MSI GF4 Ti4200 VTD8X (Video In) from the United States which uses the NTSC system for Video, however where I live we use the PAL system for Video. So my question is will I be able to use the Video In feature of the card ?( ?? Do these cards work using both video systems or are there different video versions of the card?

    bondock,
    It is my understanding that they will work with both systems. They do not make them market specific.
