GF4 Ti4200 graphic problem

Hi,
I have a MSI GF4Ti4200 128mb on a K7N2G board, Win98se
I use Nvidia 44.03 dirvers.
Every since and then, I get graphic corruption
Ex:
when I reduce a window, black lines stays on the screen
buttons in IE have pink lines in them...
selections are black holes instead of 3d selection in the shut down selection window (and all others like that)
etc...
Every time I have to uninstall drivers, using det destroyer and reinstall...
I tried 41.09 but I'm unable to play F1-2002 (Freezes at 3d setup)
I'm unable to install 30.82 (very reccomended ones) as it says that it didn't found a compatible device...
Also tried 40.72, (same trouble that 41.09) and 43.45 but no joy...  ;(

With nForce there is always the possibility it is the RAm, try setting the RAM to CPU Ratio to 1:1 and if you have some different RAM around, just it a shot too, just to rule it out as the problem.

  • Nvidia GF4 Ti4200 Driver problems!!!

I have built up a new system with the following:
    MSI K7N2G-ILSR
    nVIDIA GF4 Ti4200 128mb DDR
    AMD XP2400+
    512MB 333 DDR
    PSU 350W
    WD 80GB Caviar (partitioned)
    Thermaltake Volcano 9 HSF
I have installed XP-PRO (+SP1). The problem I have is the drivers.  First off I install the nFORCE 2 platform drivers - Fine, then I install the VGA Driver disc 40.72's. According to the installation, all is fine.  When the system reboots, we have a no go (blank screen). I then need to go back to last known settings....yeah, yeah!
So far I have downloaded nearly all the drivers off the Nvidia site as well, using my other PC. (1MB CABLE).  Each one cause pretty much the same problem, including all the WHQL versions.
I even downloaded the Nvidia nFORCE 2 platform package, which included a VGA driver.  This still caused the same result.
My next step was to swap over with my other PC.  Once I inserted a GeForce2 64MB DDR PRO/GTS, all appears fine, the drivers install...no problem.
I insert the GF4 Ti4200 into my ECS K7S5A, and low and behold all is fine here.....drivers, no problems.
    Any idea's......anyone??????
Like compatibility problem or what..... I'm totally lost and confused now!!

No, Markone from UK, novice PC builder..... :D
    Borgstif:
"uninstall the driver in safe mode and the Reg entry in WinXp "
Explain exactly what you mean, I can choose start up in safe mode yes, but what will that do for me??
    gfilitti:
Not sure exactly what specs you want? this is my first build ever.  The PSU is a bog standard fitment inside an ATX Case, not a separate fitment.  Can you be more specific about "timing etc..."
The Ti4200 is working fine in my less advanced ECS K7S5A machine......with 300W PSU.
And likewise the Nforce 2 machine operates my Geforce 2 GTS/PRO also with no problems.

  • Problem w/GF4 Ti4200 vtd-8x

I had problems with my new MSI GF4 Ti4200 vtd-8x 128mb running on a 648 Max mobo. The mobo supports agp 8x but both riva tuner and display properties showed it running on agp 4x. I would really appreciate any help I can get.

Try updating both mobo and VGA card drivers.
Do clean un-installation before installing new VGA driver...
    All the Best...  :D !!!

  • GF4 Ti4200 and Win98 - HELP ! serious problem with drivers !

Ok, I could successfully install the MSI GF4 Ti4200 128 in Windows 2000, no problem there, everything is working.
I then installed Win98 as a second OS, I launch the drivers setup (from MSI CD) and I reboot as wanted by the setup. The PC reboots, the Win98 screen appears and suddenly...it reboots by itself, no message, no black screen.  I tried with other driver versions from NVidia and this time, I get a freezed black screen after the Win98 screen, I must press reset.  I had to enter the safe-mode to remove the drivers and get the usual 640x480 in 16 colors.
What's going on ? I tried to change my bios parameters, disable the virus detection option, everything that could make problems ... but no success. I also tried a second Win98 installation, with DX 8.1 installed before the drivers but still the same problem.
My system is AMD XP 2100 with Asus A7V333 motherboard - 300W for power, is the problem caused by some VIA chips ? I tried with their 4-1 drivers and stuff on the CD but it really doesn't want to work.
    Please help...

after searching a bit on the forum, I found a thread where someone pointed out a problem caused by memory, greets to him.  I have 1 gb of ram and I added these lines to my system.ini :
    [vcache]
    MinFileCache=65536
    MaxFileCache=131072
    ChunkSize=2048
    NameCache=4096
    DirectoryCache=96
    ConservativeSwapFileUsage=1
Values may change with more/less memory...And now it works perfectly in Win98.

  • Slow gf4 Ti4200

I'm having a problem with my gf4 Ti4200. It runs at slow framerates even at lower resolution and graphics during games. Ive tested with Nightfire and UT2003 and my friends PC with gf2 runs better. Its in 4x mode and ive been told about dma. whats dma?
Are there any other suggestions anyone has that may increase my gf4's performance?

    300W PSU

Im beginning to lose my patience with this machine. Im not very technical with a computer so i really need your help. Ive managed to pin point the problem with 3Dmark2001. The highpolygon test with 8 lights shows the same problem i have with direct3D games, a very stunted (unsmooth) movement and i get 9.0Mtriangles/sec (Not sure if thats good or bad).
Ive looked at other threads, and one struck me as odd about installing a new mouse seemed to interfer with the video card. The link is here and its the third post down:
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/e_service/...10433boardid=9
It sounded like he was having the same problem as me, and i have recently installed a new mouse and keyboard but hadn't registered that this could be a problem.
I was hoping i had an incorrect direct3D setting or something to do wiht multilights or multipolygons. Opengl works fine, its just the direct3D. Im struggling here. Can someone please help me.

  • GF4 TI4200 BSOD Dilemma - Please help!

Greetings gurus and fellow frustrated gamers.  I purchased MSI's GF4 TI4200 about a year ago and have been putting up with a problem I thought was related to other components for a long time.  Every single 3D graphics game I play in windows XP will eventually and utterly crash with a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) which relates always to the nv4_dsp.dll file which is Nvidia's driver.  I have tried 12 drivers...MSI/NVidia/experimental with no change.  With help from the folks on the forum I replaced the PSU with an Antec 400w with no change.  I have tried my old Geforce2 MX400 with the same problem.  I have reformatted the computer 8 times and removed every single additional component except what was required to test my problem.  I just purchased Star Wars Galaxies and am now crashing 8-15 times a day.  I generally go 20-30 minutes between crashes.  This is no longer acceptable.  I have received this crash on Warcraft III, WC3:TFT, Neverwinter Nights, SWG, Black & White, and many more.
I have found through search engines that this has something to do with some Windows XP systems and Nvidia drivers and is an issue that does not have a fix.  I am hoping that you can offer something that I can do to fix this problem.
Before you ask...this has nothing to do with any other component in my computer.  It is not heat, the psu, the motherboard, the memory, the hard drives, etc.  I have replaced every single piece in this computer and it still occurs.  Check out this link for an example of someone else with the same problem: Similar Problem or use a search engine and type: nv4 blue screen.  You will see what I mean...this is happening to tons of people.
My question: Is there a fix?
Any help is most appreciated.  If there is not a fix, ATI is my only direction I can take.

    Richard,
Well you are right about it not using IRQ 5, however, it is not conflicting with any other IRQ that I can see.  The view under resources by connection reads:

(PCI)17 Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller

Please advise.  Thank you for the response.

  • HELP! severe probs w/ gf4 ti4200 128 8x

it seems that just about every game I have installed on my new comp has had some video error.  quake 3 and return to castle wolfenstien had an array of dots on the screen.  and just about every other game i have installed (americas army, halo pc, etc) has frozen during a new game load and reset the comp.  i installed the latest drivers from nvidia, but it didnt help.  can anyone help??
    Running:
    P4 2.4Cghz w/ HT enabled
    Intel 865PERL MB
    512 SimpleTech DDR 400
    MSI GF4 TI4200 128 w/ 8x AGP + VIVO

ok, i just went to best buy and bought an Antec 400 watt ps running 18a at 12v...AND IM STILL HAVING PROBLEMS!  a couple of games work at the lowest possible settings (quake 3, rtcw) and Halo works only in safe mode.  if i push the graphics any higher, they wont run.  Several other games (Americas Army) still wont run at all.  i am sure the vid card is the one with probs cause i have gotten a device error from it from some games.  this seems like a lost cause but if anyone could help it would be greatly appriciated.

  • Does exist the MSI GF4 TI4200 VTP8X?

Hello, I live in Spain and I go to adquire a MSI graphics card. I'll buy a GF4 TI4200 VTP 8X, but I think that model doesn't exist because in the oficcial page not appear, only appears the TD 8X and the VTD 8X models. But in http://www.alternate.net that model exist! What happen? Exist or not exist?
    Thank you very much !!!
P.D. Sorry for my English, it isn't very well

I had the same problem with my MSI  G4 Ti4200-VTD8X.
I did the same manual loading of the capture program. Didn't work. Look in control panel under your hardware and see if there is a yellow "!" next to the part that mentions "capture."  Every time that was there the in didn't work.
I would uninstall and try it again.
Sometimes it would work for the day.  I would even shut the computer off and when I would turn it back on, it would still work.  Shut it off for the night and the next day it wouldn't work again! Go figure!!! Do a restore to the point where I shut the computer off for the night, and it still wouldn't work.
I believe it worked for good when I loaded the 4072 drivers.  I did not install the manual program (I think - I did so  many un/installs I can't be sure).  Now the funny thing, those other little installs are not in my harware.  But it works.  I can't explain this.
Basically, uninstall the whole card driver , not just the capture.  Reinstall the card driver without that other manual capture program.  Just keep trying installing and uninstalling and checking out WinProducer to see if the capture option is there.  If it still doesn't, try the manual capture program.  Just keep trying different combinations.
Sorry that this isn't more of a step by step, but it worked for me.  Hopefully MSI will put out another driver soon that will fix this once and for all.

  • Mouse causes graphic problems!

    Hi,
Ive got the MSI GF4 Ti4400 and a problem when i use a mouse or a keyboard. The graphics on most of my games are very ugly and drag alot. My primary mouse and keyboard are wireless and optical and have less of an impact on the graphics than an ordinary wheel mouse and keyboard, yet the problem still remains.
I managed to fix this problem on half-life by adding the line GL_D3DFLIP 1 to the console and that solved this problem for half-life. It told me in the release notes that there can often be a problem with a mouse in direct 3D mode. But i have this problem in every game and wanted to know of a solution along the same line for all my games. Please post here if you can,
    Lei  )

Sorry i havn't posted in ages, been trying to get more info on this problem. There are no updated mouse drivers or anything like that, but looking through the forum this quote form Excidium was the best i could conjure up:
    Quote
If you have WindowsXP, left click on the taskbar and choose Properties. Now choose the StartMenu tab then choose Customize. If you are using Classic Start Menu, in the box list ( if it is not already checked ) check Display Administrative Tools and then Ok. If you are using just Start Menu ( the new XP menu ) then you will have to click Customize, and then choose the Advanced Tab at the top and at the bottom of the Start Menu Items box enable one of the options to view the Admin Tools. One of the Admin Options is Computer Management, choose that. A window should open with a tree of different options. Under System Tools > Event Viewer, choose Application. There should be a large number of Errors and Information tags to the right. These are all errors ( whether be crashes, or hangs etc.. ) that windows records. If you computer just hung, then the info is in there, if it restarted.. it is not. But Windows keeps track of all that information. Some of those errors pertain to games, such as Quake 3, or Morrowind, or Counter Strike etc... If you search through them, you will find out what caused the error. Be it a fault of some memory address... or as is the case of many.. a file called NVOGLNT.DLL. Only recently have i grown accustomed to its cropping up and i have yet to find a solution for its occurance. I did not have the problem before, and i have a 350W power supply from Enermax ( from what i read in the forums buying a more powerful PSU is the usual said solution ) and i am running an AMD 2000+ and a Ti4200. the problem actually came up after i installed a Logitech MX500 mouse. Or so i believe that to be the culprit. The final word is not yet in, but i will keep it posted. I used this computer with the 30.82 drivers and everything was fine till i got the mouse. So either this mouse is sucking up a crap load of power, or its causing some fault in the resource sharing with my video card and the swapping of the NVOGLNT.DLL file into memory when it is needed. Anyway, check your errors and see what crops up. I can put money on the NVOGLNT file being in there somewhere.
Sorry it's a bit long but i just seemed very relevant to me and my computer problem. Maybe this could inspire you geniuses.
Looking forward for more help, Lei

Last week I bought my video card. I didn't have problems until few days ago. Mouse movement in Win XP is choppy, not all the time. I played with sample rate but that didn't help.I tried my old gf2 mx400, and i didn"t have problems. I was reading threads and I realized that the problem may be in power supply. It's a bit old (about 2 years :-) ), iam not sure is it good if it is warm . This problem occurd just after the problem with HD (detection problems, messed HD name..), i checked IDE cable, it's good. 3d expirience is not shownig voltages and temepatures. Fuzzy logic 3 somtimes alerts that the temperature in chassis is 131C!! which is impossible. I sens lack of fps in games.

  • 640x480 and above, capture with MSI GF4 Ti4200 VTP

could anyone successfully perform this operation ?
The weird thing is that if I set a capture of something like 5 fps in VirtualDub and 640x480 (I tried with several codecs and thought that decreasing the fps would improve the bandwidth usage), it still doesn't want to capture anything -> 0 frames. The maximum I can get (15% frames lost) is 320x200 at 30 fps.  I tried to capture directly to memory as it's supposed to be very fast, no luck.
Maybe my system is not monster enough, don't know....   ?(   Or could that be the card which is limited for this ?
    MSI GF4 Ti4200 VTP - 1 gig RAM (DDR 333), Athlon XP 2100, IBM ICL35 120 GB - OS : W2K.
WDM 1.16 from MSI-CD. I tried with WDM 1.08 too.

your system is fine for this kind of job....
i have no problem in capturing full pal (768x...) in 30 fps (using included wincoder and mpeg1 or mpeg2 codecs) 60% cpu load on duron @1380
virtual bud will need somethong better then 1,3gh duron but i got no problems with 640x480 divx pro 5.02 25fps on my current sysetm (but the cpu load is high 75-90%) (0% frame lost)
some motion codecs (mjpg) will need both fast cpu and fast hdd....
uncompresed will produce so much data that even very fast hdd's will by to slow
but it is in fact weird 15% frame lost on 320x200 is much to high.. what board are u using?? are the latest 4in1 drivers instaled (very important for w2k) by shure that agpx4 and bus mastering are on... are u using any other extensin cards (tv tuner, off board sound, ide, lan??) if yes try removing them

  • GF4 Ti4200-VTD8X(8894) and Live update 2.0

    Hello all
Recendly i bought this graphic card (i mention on the subject). It's much faster than the Asus GF2 Ti i had before and all are working properly except of the updating program called Live update 2.0. I installed it and when i got connected to the server it announced me that the version running on the server is newer than mine and it gave me the option to update it as i did. When i reconnected to the server and asked for updates about my card's bios or driver it gives me the message that my graphic card isn't from MSI. The utility option works fine but as you can understand isn't the important one. As i was ecpecting the same results i got from the live monitor too.
So i would like to ask the moderators of this forum or anyone who could know:
    1) Is my graphic card [MSI GF4Ti 4200 VTD8X (8894) 128 MB] combatible with the Live update utility 2.0 or not? The 3D turbo experience utility works fine on my pc.
2)If i update the VGA bios and driver of my graphic card manualy (without the live update utility) from the MSI web site will i still have the tabs "MSI information" and "MSI clock" on my display properties?
    Thanks in advance
    Morte

I recently built a system (specs below) and installed this card (MSI GF4 Ti4200 VTD8X MS8894, 128MB DDR), and when I try to use Live Update 2 (version 3.33.000, from the CD that came with the card), I get the same message:
"Warning!!! Your Display Card does not support MSI Live Update 2 function.  Note: MSI Live Update 2 supports the Display Cards of MSI only."
I'm using the drivers/BIOS that came on the CD: Driver version 6.13.10.4107, BIOS version 4.28.20.05.11.  I see on the nVidia site that they have the 4109 drivers out now, should I try those?  ?(
I have also made sure to do the suggested modifications to IE (and I don't have PC-cillin installed):
"Note: In order to operate this application properly, please note the following suggests.
-Set the IE security setting 'Download signed ActiveX controls' to [Enable] or [Prompt]. (System default is [Prompt]).
-Disable 'WebTrap' of PC-cillin(R) or any web based anti-virus application when executing MSITM Live Update 2TM.
    -Update Microsoft® Windows® Installer"
I downloaded a newer version of LIveUpdate (3.35.000), and installed it (after completely uninstalling the old version), and got the same results.  Nothing on my system is currently overclocked.

  • Gf4 Ti4200 8x and TV tuning

    Hi,
I am confused about tv drivers installed automatically for my Gf4 Ti4200 8x With Vivo. The card doesn't seem to have any antenna input, and I don't think it suports tv tuning. Why is there a dirver for tv tuner installed?

I had a similar problem with my new 5900 Ultra VTD256. The driver said 128Meg of RAM even though I had 256Meg. I installed several versions of the Detonator drivers and none worked. Finally, I found a beta of the Det 52.13 drivers and it cleared up all my problems! They're also much faster in Halo. You can find them here:
