GF4 Ti4200/Vivo - Video capture pauses

Hi All,
Did a search and could not find anything on this topic.
When capturing video from S-Video input, the video is not smooth.  Getting momentary 'pauses' that leads to very jerky video on playback.  I've checked the 'smooth video' option, but to no avail.
System specs:
MSI (oem'd Medion) MS-8889 GF4 TI4200 128MB Video card
P4 2.66 CPU
768M PC2700 DDR
120GB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM ATA133
Original Shipped drivers for Video and WDM Capture (30.30 Video and 1.1 WDM)
Any help would be appreciated.
TIA,
SteveK

Well, I tried capturing with Virtualdub and it works much better (no pauses or stutters).  But there is a fairly large number of dropped frames (about 20% dropped).
I've taken all of the standard steps to avoid dropped frames....no network access (no netowrk plugged in), no TSRs running, no antivirus, running with DMA enabled, hard disk is de-fragged (although I am running with a single hdd partitioned into 3 logical drives.  CPU is a P4-2.66Mhz, so there's plenty of horsepower.  The video card is an MSI-8889 (GF4 TI4200 8x w/128MB) ViVo. O/S is XP.  Mobo is an MSI-6701 (SiS Chipset).
I believe the Vivo is stricly software capture, so the results are directly related to the software used for capture.
Can anyone recommend (or use) another capture product for this type of card (with good results)?
TIA,
SteveK

  • GF4 Ti4200-VTD64 Video-Out/In?

I was wondering if the TV-Out socket on my GF4 Ti4200-VTD64 could be used as a Video-In socket. I am going to be in college, so I won't have a TV and a DVD player, but I will have my Playstation2. I was wondering if I could connect that to my TV-Out socket and use my monitor as a 'TV'. What software would I need to do this, if possible?

    himenohogosha,
I do not heard of anyone being able to do that.  You would need to have circuitry on the Video Card to do that which to my knowledge is not here.

I occasionally get this groovy white box that covers a good half of my screen when I attempt to capture video from my video camera..
My wife has finally decided (after a good year) to start hounding me about where those christmas DVDs are that I promised her..   :hypecrite:
after a little hunting it appears this may be some copy protection scheme for video cassettes?
    l'il help?!

    I'm new to this!
FX5600 on a P4 2.6, 521pc3200 RAM and plenty pf fast HD space.
    WDM driver 2.13.
My captured files are uncompressed and have data rates of 20mb/s.  I have installed several codes such as DivX and Hufy(?) but although they turn up in the VFW compressor list and can be selected they are not shown in the spec of the capture window and are not used.
Anyone out there having any success doing this. It works into Windows Movie maker but I really want to use Premiere.

  • MSI GF4 Ti4200 VTD8X tech question

Hi everyone, I hope u can help me with this:
I'm planning on buying a MSI GF4 Ti4200 VTD8X (Video In) from the United States which uses the NTSC system for Video, however where I live we use the PAL system for Video. So my question is will I be able to use the Video In feature of the card ?( ?? Do these cards work using both video systems or are there different video versions of the card?
    Thanks in advance!

    bondock,
It is my understanding that they will work with both systems. They do not make them market specific.

  • Video Capture with GF4 TI4200

I seem to be haveing a few problems with video capture on my PC.
I am using my TI4200 TV-in function from my VCR/CC to capture footage. I am also using the latest WDM drivers from the nvidia site.
However everyso often i will get an annoying white block straight accross the screen and i try to recapture but it will happen, maybe somewhere else! what can i do?
I have used ULEAD and WIN MM and IV WinPro to try this!  :(

Installing the OLDER video capture drivers seems to have corrected my problem with the white bar.
    http://download.nvidia.com/Windows/23.11/WDM_1.08.exe
When I tried the NEW video capture listed on the MSI pages for the 8X agp the HUE on the capture was WAY OFF. No Blues were present AND I still had the WHITE BAR syndrome.
Why does the OLDER capture driver work and not the NEW ones. Seems like I am taking steps backwards to get a NEW video card to function properly. I am running Win2K with an AMD 2400, Gigabyte mb, 1gig ram, 1st hd 80 gig, 2nd hd, 120 gig, yamaha cdrw, 4x dvd burner.

  • MSI GF4 Ti4200 Video-in/capture on secondary monitor.???

    Hi,
I have an MSI Ti4200-VTD8X (dual head, Video I/O).  I am running it in dual monitor setup.  When i try to view the video input on the secondary monitor i get the message:
"due to limitations of your computer's display device, this video can only play back on one of your monitors. please move the video window completely onto that monitor"
Does anyone know if this is a driver problem? or really it is a limitation with the card?. though i do not know why would the card be able to view the video capture window on one monitor but not the other?.
Thank you for any help you can provide.
    L.
    P.S.: system:
          MSI T14200-VTD8X  128m
          ASUS A7v8x Mobo
          512M RAM
          Win XP

Yes, I am using NVidia's nView as well as their WDM drivers.  my dual monitor support seems to work fine.
Only if i want to see video input feed using something like win_DVR  or Win_VCR or even Win_Producer that i get this message if the software/input winodow was on the secondary monitor.
Any help would be appriciated :D

  • GF4 ti4200 and capturing DV

I just got my GF4 Ti4200 8x yesterday and have had great success with everything except capturing digital video via my 1394 firewire card.  Previous the GF4, I had a GF2 ti that was able to capture video perfectly, but ever since I installed the GF4 I cannot capture video via the firewire controller, only the video in port on the card.  However I've noticed something interesting that makes me want to think it has something to do with the card:  I installed the Intervideo WinProducer that came with my card and it can capture digital video via the 1394 card without crashing like Premiere and the software that came with my camcorder; however when I try to play back the video it gives me that ugly blocky video with the logo and the scrolling subtitles that say my trial has expired  ?(  how can it be expired if I just bought it and entered the key on the cd?  Anyways, thanks for any help.

You have 2 capture sources, you need the software to be able to allow you to select the one you want.
You should try virtualdub, supposed to be good and it's free.

  • E90 no pause on video capture

Why there isn't a pause for video capturing on E90? I would like to join several short scenes together, & is audio dubbing possible? What is a good software for editing video clips ?

    I've got 'Pause' on mine.
Start recording and the option on the 'top/right' key is 'Pause'.

  • -- Video Capture Software suggestions (VIVO) ?!

    Hello,
I recently have purchased an MSI 6600GT VIVO video card. I immediatly hooked it up with video and audio in and out. I installed the software included with it (MSI media center Deluxe 2) and was a little disapointed. I want something that you can program to start recording at certain times and that does not have any of the other stuff this software has (picture viewing, radio, etc.). I have a digital cable box that can be programmed to turn on and change channels so I dont really need software with guides and progamming other then on and off. Any advice from people with experiences with these programs would be much appreciated!..
Also, im a little unfamiliar with encodeing of captured video. I think it captures in mpeg-2 and I was wondering if there such a thing as software encoding while capturing (DivX, Mpeg-4, Avi). If not, then it would be nice if anyone had any suggestions of software that encodes after capturing. I think I could find somthing that would do this pretty easily but its always nice to use software that other people recommend.
Thanks in advanced for any help...
PS. any software that is retail or free is awesome

hell-o the software included with the vga does a nice work (and better when you have on chip video processor) but, if you want to compres in another format or even record and compress at the same time you can use virtual dub, from www.vitualdub.org, or/and download the ACE mega codec pack pro form anywhere, the firs let you capture video form any device, like your card in uncompresed format, this method its "stressless" for the procesor memory  hard disk cache and video processor but... its too large only few mins. can weight around a gb and more, but instead you have  a choice, mselect some codec to compress a the same time, you can manage the quality/space that needed for the file, and works with divx and xvid mpeg 4 mpeg 2 codecs. about programming timming for capture. i don't know any program but i think power dvd creator or power director can manage that, anyway you can capture with any program (msi media deluxe 2 or later do well even in "better" quality) and then recompres or change format wih virtual dub, oooh.... almost forgot... virtual dub can also aply filters like deinterlace (help to eliminate the interlaced tv capturing) and many others
tell me how it work!!! good luck, bye!!!!!

  • 640x480 and above, capture with MSI GF4 Ti4200 VTP

could anyone successfully perform this operation ?
The weird thing is that if I set a capture of something like 5 fps in VirtualDub and 640x480 (I tried with several codecs and thought that decreasing the fps would improve the bandwidth usage), it still doesn't want to capture anything -> 0 frames. The maximum I can get (15% frames lost) is 320x200 at 30 fps.  I tried to capture directly to memory as it's supposed to be very fast, no luck.
Maybe my system is not monster enough, don't know....   ?(   Or could that be the card which is limited for this ?
    MSI GF4 Ti4200 VTP - 1 gig RAM (DDR 333), Athlon XP 2100, IBM ICL35 120 GB - OS : W2K.
WDM 1.16 from MSI-CD. I tried with WDM 1.08 too.

your system is fine for this kind of job....
i have no problem in capturing full pal (768x...) in 30 fps (using included wincoder and mpeg1 or mpeg2 codecs) 60% cpu load on duron @1380
virtual bud will need somethong better then 1,3gh duron but i got no problems with 640x480 divx pro 5.02 25fps on my current sysetm (but the cpu load is high 75-90%) (0% frame lost)
some motion codecs (mjpg) will need both fast cpu and fast hdd....
uncompresed will produce so much data that even very fast hdd's will by to slow
but it is in fact weird 15% frame lost on 320x200 is much to high.. what board are u using?? are the latest 4in1 drivers instaled (very important for w2k) by shure that agpx4 and bus mastering are on... are u using any other extensin cards (tv tuner, off board sound, ide, lan??) if yes try removing them

  • MSI 6600GT VTD AGP - VIVO, bad capture video quality

Before buying my 6600GT it used a ATI All in wonder 9800PRO, and the quality of image in the video capture was spectacular, clear, shining, without ghost, even with images with fast movements (horizontal text moving from right to left for example).
Now, I am disappointed with the quality of video capture of my new 6600GT. The image is blurred, like but slow per moments, it is remarkable with fast movements.
To somebody it happens to him the same?
I download all demo soft from Ulead, Pinnacle, Cyberlink, Intervideo...the problem persist

well some diferent drivers could make you gain a better capture quality but im sorry to say to you that no nvidia card will have a better capture quality than a BBA ATI video card, even if you take an old ati video card build by ati and compare with the lastest nvidia card...
Sorry but, if I were you, I really really really would get back to a BBA ati video card, it will work best in your new mobo for video capture.

  • Ti4200-VTD8X (MS-8894) video capture

    Hi,
I've just bought this video card (in the subject), that is working well normally, but the video capture function is not working. When I try to launch the capture driver properties with Winproducer, my computer becomes very slow and instable, the screen is blocked during long seconds, or my computer is rebooting alone. It's unable to capture video.
I tried with 31.00 original MSI drivers, and with lastest nVidia drivers, the result is the same.
I have an Abit NF7-S motherboard (nVidia nForce2), is there any incompatibility between both ?
And as ever seen in a past message in this forum, the Live Update 2 software is not working with this video card when it try to connect the server "this video card is not MSI", something like that.
The patch for Winproducer that I have downloaded on the MSI website is not working too with the Winproducer version on the CDROM bundle.
Would anyone help me to find the lastest VGA BIOS for this card, because Live Update is not working. Does anyone has the same problem in capturing video with this card, or is it a bug of my card ?
    Thanks
    Jean - FRANCE

    Symptoms:
    1.  Live Update 2 install results with VBIOS.DLL error.
    2.  Vid Capture locks up Winproducer.
    I've tried:
    1.  Reinstalled various versions of WDM capture drivers (1.08, 1.11, 1.18, 1.22)
    2.  Reinstalled various versions of nVidia drivers. (MSI 3100, 41.09)
    3.  Swapped out power supply
    4.  Updated MB BIOS
    5.  Installed Bundled Winproducer software and applied MSI patch. (Patch fails to install)
    6.  Format HD - Reinstall Windows and repeated all steps.

  • Gf4 Ti4200 VTD 8x macro or not?

hi there i have one question
    is in gf4 Ti4200 VTD 8x /MS-8894/ implemented macrovision in tv-out? ?(

Yes it has macrovision enabled as noted in the user's guide.  What you get is a large white box covering most of the video image.  Switching to an older capture driver (v1.08 gets rid of the box for me but introduces a mostly out of sync video (still unwatchable).  This might be fixed with the use os some sort of amplifier bewteen the player and the video card.

  • Video capture driver for MSI GeForce 2 Pro video card

    Hi,
I am in need of the nVidia WDM video capture driver for my Geforce 2 Pro video card. Model #M-8831. I was able to download it from the MSI/TW website over a year ago just fine. My computer crashed from a game bug a couple of months ago and MSI/TW does not list the capture driver I need any longer. I did email the company asking for help with no response back yet (after 2 weeks). You people may be my last hope.
I do have the cd that came with the video card, but I've never been able to install the capture driver from it. There is a button to install it, but it never gets loaded. I've tried browsing the cd and also tried installing it using the windows wizards with zero results. My only successful install was from the MSI home website.
If you need more information, please let me know.
     Thank you,
