  • IMovie 08 minor problem, hovering on "Done" while capturing from a camera..

In iMovie 7.0.1, when I am capturing from a camcorder, when I hover over "Stop", it shows "Click here to begin recording" instead of "Click here to stop...". The same is with when I am capturing with the iSight camera, it shows "Click to begin recording". This is a minor problem, but might confuse some computer illiterate folk and should be fixed in the next update.

    Thanks, I'll pass that along.
If she's upgraded her OS or QT beyond this point, which she's probably done -- in all innocence -- then to get it to work, she'd have to re-install earlier versions of both OS X and QT? Or buy a new, considerably more expensive version of FCP?
    Wow! That's a bummer.

  • Capture from HDV camera on 4x3 SD setting

I'm trying to capture 4x3 SD video from a Cannon XHA1 camera, which is an HD camera, into Premiere Elements.  I've tried setting up my Premiere file in 4x3 and 16x9 and tried setting the camera at DV 4x3 and 16x9.  When I go to capture, Premiere shows that it's working but once I hit stop/pause, I get a notification that no frames were captured.  What am I doing wrong?

I'm connected through firewire.  Not sure about "DV Lock."  Under system control, there is an option for "DV Control," and MAGN. B. Lock and Shutter Lock.
DV Control is switched to "OFF"

  • Why is my audio is out of sync with my video on hd capture from sony camera

    My System
    Win 7 64 Bit
    Asus P5Q-E Motherboard
    4 GIGS DDR Patriot Ram
    Pentium quad 2.8
    Ati Video Card
    Onboard Audio
    CS3 Premiere And Encore
I have a Sony HVR Z series HD camera from sony.  I will capture a tape and it will be out of sync. I will then recapture and it may be in sync or not, this is really frustrating especially for music videos and weddings, actually a nightmare. I'm not quite sure as to the reason as it happens in Adobe Premiere cs3 and cs4. I have updated everything. Do you thing I need a 10000 RPM os system drive. Any help would be appreciated.
    Joan

I have 2 Sony HDR FX1 and 1 Sony HVR Z1U and it works great in both CS3 & CS4 so something is wrong with your setup or camera.
I only have a 7200 SATA drive for capture.
I dont know if a bad cable would cause this.
Harm has a couple other ways to capture that he says it keeps the audio in sync better but I have yet tried it but im sure from what I have read here that it works good.
Here is a link to his Tools Article.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/504907
Here are those 2 capture ways:
    Capture
Scenalyzer: http://www.scenalyzer.com/main.html for capturing SD material
HDVSplit: http://strony.aster.pl/paviko/hdvsplit.htm for capturing HDV material
    Hope this helps:  Glenn
    EDIT:
I have an 5 year old system.
On Bills PPBM4 test you can see that I scored second to LAST on speed so even my system can capture fine.

Take the test and see how your system is running.  It doesnt take to long.

  • Capturing From Analog Deck

I'm trying to capture video from an analog sony uvw-1800 beta sp deck. I'm using fcp 6 on a pre-current mac pro with the following specs:
    2 3.2 quad core processors
    8 gb ram
    2 500gb 7200rpm drives
    leopard 10.5.6
    quicktime 7.6
I'm getting an error message when I open the capture tool that says:
capture preset must have a video or audio digitizer set to capture. please change to desired preset in audio/video preferences.
I'm also using the AJA Kona LHe card to connect the 1800 to my mac pro. Any thoughts?

If the AJA card isn't working, talk to AJA. It's not a Final Cut problem from where I'm sitting.
    I think there's a Kona forum on the creativecow.net.

  • Capturing from FW - Camera Crashes FCPE and Quicktime

I just upgraded from my MacMini (my first) to this PowerMac Dc2.3 to do some video editing. I have Quicktime 7.03 and FCPE, and a Sony DVCamcorder connected via firewire. I also have a couple FW400 Harddrives and a FW800 drive connected.
If I try to record using Quicktime, it crashes. If I try to capture in FCPE, it crashes. iMovie captures fine. I had checked out another thread where some folks were having problems with camera recognition and tried some of the suggestions, but this only temporarily fixed the problem. After uninstallng and reinstalling a number of times, I discovered that every time I deleted the Library>Quicktime directory and then reinstalled, it would work. I then used my Eskape Labs myTV.PVR and it went through the install process like it did when I first installed it. Now Quicktime and FCPE again crash.
I drag the file: TrinityVDIG.component which was installed by the myTV.PVR installation from the Library>Quicktime directory to the desktop. This fixed the problem: Quicktime and FCPE once again work. If I put TrinityVDIG.component back, they break once again. The problem is clearly not with Quicktime or FCPE, but with this component that hooks into Quicktime.
So when doing capturing, I just drag the component to the desktop and then drag it back when I want to watch TV. I also tried leaving the component in the Library>Quicktime directory and just unplugging the myTV.PVR device, this works, but the initialization of the capture is very slow compared to if you just remove the TrinityVDIG.component.
I am going to try to send this to the Eskape people and hopefully they will produce a compatible component.
I hope this might help some that are having a problem.
    Ed Cross

i am having the same problem, except when i try to open it using itunes it also closes down and gives me that error message. I also tried opening the files with nero and the problem occurs there also. i wish there was a fix for this because quicktime 6 worked great.

  • Captureing live analog cams

we are designing a site with 4 web cams (analog) video only. flash media live encoder 3 supports osprey capture cards. does it support WINNOV 004 VO OR WINNOV 4400  VO CARDS. IF SO WHICH ONE WOULD YOU RECOMMEND??? WE WILL BE STREAMING TO A HOST STREAMING SERVER.

If the card allows capturing in raw formats( rgb, I420, yuv, etc) then it should work with FMLE. Just check the specifications of the card.

  • Video capture from video camera to macbook

I can't figure out how to capture my video off my video camera and transfer it to my macbook. I have QT pro and have attached the firewire, but when QT pro launches, there is no option to capture...any thoughts? Thanks

  • Live Capture from GL2 Camera via Firewire

Image quality when capturing live video into iMovie from a Canon GL2 is very very grainy and poor quality. It used to work fine capturing into iMovie HD, but that no longer works correctly with Snow Leopard (transport controls and other buttons don't show up). The footage is totally unusable.
I've heard that image quality in iMovie is a bit less than FCE, but this is no minor difference. Is there a setting that should be changed?

t used to work fine capturing into iMovie HD
iMovie 09 uses 'single field processing' meaning every other horizontal line of the video is thrown out, which reduces the sharpness of the footage.
iMovie 06 (iMovie HD) uses ALL of the image to form the video.
no longer works correctly with Snow Leopard (transport controls and other buttons don't show up).
I use both iMovie 09 and iMovie 06 with OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard). (But when I need better quality I use iMovie 06.)
I've heard that image quality in iMovie is a bit less than FCE, but this is no minor difference.
iMovie 06 and FCE have the same image quality. iMovie 09 uses 'single field processing' so you have a bit lower quality.
Is there a setting that should be changed?
    No.

  • When I capture from my camera in anamorphic and the picture is smashed down and cut at both sides, what capture settings shall I put?

please tell me the correct video-settings for capture and sequenze. Actually my camera films in anamorphic and when I capture the images is cut at right and left. So I changed the settings to anamorphic, but it doesn't work well. The image is smashes down and cut at right and left. I don't understand why. Can you help me to put the correct settings for my case? Thank you

  • Capturing from different camera

Perhaps an odd, and silly, question, but here goes. Is there any problem with using a camera that was not used to shoot the DV tape to import that DV tape into FCE?

    Hi Ian,
The answer could be yes or no.
If your Pana DS8 (or some other miniDV tape based cam that you use for capturing) can play HDV recordings, then the answer would be yes.
If your capture cam is only DV, then if the HDV camera has the capability to record DV onto the miniDV tape, then the answer would also be yes. Some, maybe even most, tape-based HDV cameras have a DV setting.
But if it's an HDV recording, and your capture cam is a DV camera, even though the tape would physically fit, the capture cam would not be able to play the recording. HDV is MPEG2.

  • Capturing from the JVCGY100U Camera

    Format is HDV30P
Camera( aka capture devise) is JVC GY 100U
    I am on FCP 5.1.4
I am trying to capture a clip. The capture breaks up the logged clip into multiple clips and they have about 8 seconds that is not captured between the breaks.
I a know that the camera was not turned off during the shoot or stopped. My setting are set to "capture through timecode breaks" and I have also tried using the "make new clip on timecode break" setting. I am using the HDV capture preset.
    Any advise?
    THANKS!

I posted this a while ago but I was capturing from a camera. I am now captuing from a JVC Deck (BRHD50).
Still, as I capture FCP makes a new clip and I lose about 6 seconds. This happens A LOT.
The media that is not captured IS on my tape. I can hear it from the deck.
The media was not at the beginning of a take and is a lot of time it is in mid-sentence.
As of my last posting I leaned that you lose about 8 seconds each time you press play on the JVC100U camera. That I get. But this is at places that are in the middle of a take. My setting are set to "capture through timecode breaks" and I have also tried using the "make new clip on timecode break" setting. I am using the HDV capture preset.
PLEASE HELP or I will have to re-shoot the interviews.

  • Problem capturing from camcorder via FW

Thought this may helpful to somebody.
When I connect my camcorder (Canon ZR400) to the Mac (via FW400), the computer can 'run' the camcorder, ie make it stop/rewind/ff etc. However nothing is shown in the blue window, except the time counter.
I've found out that unplugging my other FW cable (FW800 connected to the external drive) fixes it.
(Not sure if I'd googled it up first or it was my own guess.)
Hope someone can pass it on to Cupertino too!

    Derek,
From your tests, it appears that your computer is now unable to capture from the camera.
When you plug in your camera and turn it on, you do get the Windows "bing-bong" sound, don't you? Does the camera appear in the Taskbar?
IIRC, you CAN control the camera from PrE. That would indicate that Windows IS seeing the camera. If so, then the easiest thing to check, the FW cable itself, seems to be working.
This would indicate that there might be an issue with the camera. Before we rush to that conclusion, let's do a test:
There are several sequences, that one could choose to Capture. Some cameras want things done a particular way, for them to work with the computer. The elements of the sequence are to plug in the camera to the computer. Let's keep that constant. Now, first turn on the camera in Play Mode, then launch PrE, then choose Capture in PrE (the exact name/tab might differ by version) - check. If that does not work, shut down PrE and turn OFF the camera. Next, launch PrE, then turn ON the camera, then start the Capture module - check. If that does not work, shut down PrE and turn OFF the camera. Now, launch PrE, start the Capture module, then turn ON the camera in Play Mode. I cannot think of any other variations on the sequence, but if you can think of a different order, try that.
You do NOT want to make any FW connections with the camera ON, so do NOT do that.
If none works, then it might well point to an issue with the camera, or with the computer's FW connection, or controller chip. At this point, because it's simple and cheap, I'd buy a new cable, and test as above. That will finally rule out the cable. To test the computer, find a friend with a FW connection, and Windows Movie Maker (or iMovie on a Mac), and try to Capture on that computer. If the above sequence tests fail on the new computer, it might be time to take the camera in for repair.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
