Hi @thegame1998
Thank you for your query.
I understand that you are unable to install the latest graphic drivers for your notebook from the manufacturer's site.
This in not a uncommon difficulty with switchable graphics which you have.
Here are two links on switchable graphics.
HP Notebook PCs - Overview of Switchable Graphics or Dual GPUs
HP Notebook PCs - Switchable Graphics on Notebooks Configured with Intel and ATI GPUs
To regain the functionality of the switchable graphic I would reinstall the original drivers using the recovery manager.
Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 7)
If this does not work I suggest you do a recovery back to factory.
HP and Compaq Desktop PCs - Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 7)
You will have an opportunity to backup your personal files to prevent data loss.

  • Weird artefacts, mobo(P35 Neo2-FR) or gfx card problem?

Recently I was playing a game when some weird artefacts appeared on the screen before just completely freezing up.
    I rebooted and saw this:
The desktop/login screen was all ****ed up too (pardon my French!)
I ran ATI Tool and saw my gfx was 40'c which was about normal considering I was just playing a game so don't think the gfx had overheated.
    Then suddenly the PC froze.
Rebooted and got the same problems so I left it for several hours just in case it was overheating. (unlikely though since I've got plenty of fans, all of which are working and no alarms went off etc)
Few hours later, same problems but I noticed my IDE cable wasn't in all the way so I pushed unplugged/plugged it in and it worked fine!
Fast forward through 4 days of normal usage (although no games)  with no problems to today.
Left the PC for a while before coming back and seeing the screensaver was all screwed up and the desktop was running at a lower resolution that it should have.
Shut down and restarted but nothing showed up on the monitor (LCD via a DVI->VGA adapter) not even the POST or BIOS messages.
Tried my TV which has DVI and an image was displayed:
Managed to login but again it was all ****ed up.
So at first I thought it was my graphics card but after it started working again I'm not so sure.
BTW, all the parts are only 2-3 months old and have worked flawlessly together since I built the PC.
I haven't been able to try any parts in any other PC's as I don't know anyone with a PCI-E mobo or even anyone with a PCI gfx card (only AGP and onboard!)
What do you guys think is the source of the problem?
    Mobo (P35 Neo2-FR)
    gfx card (PowerColor HD3850)
    RAM (2gb geil Black dragon)
    Thanks

It's been working fine for the last few days now, until today of course when I have an important report due in!!!

I would suggest that you run the system under stress test with graphics intensive games and see how it goes for a week.
    I have done this.
I've run ATI Tool artefact scan for over an hour and got no errors.
Yesterday I was playing STALKER for several hours on high settings on my 1680x1050 monitor/TV via DVI and the other monitor connected via VGA showing ATI Tools and CPU temps.
No problems at all after a few hours gaming.
(I recorded all temp data to a log and the maximum temp reached was 56'c)
Today I was working on a uni assignment so I only had Word, Firefox and Winamp open and some horizontal artefacts appeared.(nowhere near as bad as the above photos though, it was more like specs and dashes)
I opened up ATI Tool and saw the GPU temp was 35'c.
Before I could do anything it froze but the music continued playing. It stayed like this for a few seconds before going black and the music stopped.
So playing games at hi res for several hours did nothing, but having word and firefox open seemed to trigger something and start messing up.
After several restarts (kept crashing at first) I managed to get into Windows (with artefacts similar to the first photo) long enough to recover my assignment and shut down.

  • Nasty GFX card problem, MS-6367 (HELP!!!)

I'm not really a techie person, so I don't know all the right information.  I have a MS-6367 motherboard, it's in a 2 year old HP Pavilion 701 comp, and runs an AMB processor.  (I think it is 1600+)  Anyways, I recently went through some simple case modding (making room) for an improved power supply, and would like to install an ATI Radeon 9600 XT card (AGP slot).  What I don't understand, or know how for that matter, is what do I install to get it to work without crashing/damaging my mobo?  It says I apparently need an AGP driver, but one I have no idea which one, and two I'm not even sure if the radeon will work with the motherboard because its so nvidia integrated... if that's even a concern?  Please help, I've been trying to get this to work, and waiting for two weeks... I'd really love to get all this resolved and such.
(and I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but the ATI card manual says to attach the power supply to the hard drive power supply.... however I already have two HD's in there, so their power supply is full, meaning it would require some power cable re-arranging maybe.  Im not sure if having the card attached to HD power is important or not, is it?)
    Thank you for the help.

I have a 250 watt supply, and it has several spare connectors so it should work... I picked radeon cause I had done some digging on benchmarks and specs, and learned radeons use less power then geforce's do...  So, I follow the instructions for this nForce package in the link you gave me, and that will install the VART / GART (whatever) driver I need so the AGP slot will work, right?
    One um... other question.  How exactly do you UNinstall the integrated geforce2 in this mobo?  Do you just... tell the system to ignore it? >_>;
Edit: Im really really sorry for having what are likely no-brainer questions.
How exactly do I uninstall the old nforce/forceware software?  There is not a "forceware" or "nforce" program, and the only listed items with those names are in the system devices area.  Do I uninstall all of those?  :\  *never done something like this before, cant afford to pay someone to do it for me, and certainly doesnt want to damage the computer*

  • New GFX card, Quartz Extreme error, and suddenly FCP 6 will not run. Help me fix this problem please!

Model Name: Mac Pro Model Identifier: MacPro1,1 Processor Name: Dual-Core Intel Xeon Processor Speed: 3 GHz Number Of Processors: 2 Total Number Of Cores: 4 L2 Cache (per processor): 4 MB Memory: 7 GB Bus Speed: 1.33 GHz
My old GFX card nVidia GeForce 7300GT which is busted.
I replaced it with a nVidia NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 from a Mac Pro of the same generation.
I'm now getting a Quartz Extreme error whenever I try to run Final Cut Pro 6 or Compressor. "This system does not meet the following minimum requirements: Final Cut Pro 6 requires that your system have a Quartz Extreme capable video card."
Well, I checked the specs of the card and it does support Quartz Extreme. So why isn't FCP 6 running?
Looking under the System Profiler > Graphics/Displays, it doesn't say the Cinema HD Display supports Quartz Extreme, but how could that be, because the Quadro 4500's specs online says it does?!! This was the better GFX card made for the same generation of Mac Pro but somehow doesn't work!
This is also effecting my DVD player App with an error: "A valid video device could not be found for playback: -70017". Which has never happened before either.
I've researched online and can't find anything that works.
The card has power running to it and the monitor is hooked into the closest DVI port to the logic board which most of people with the same problem have done to fix this. I've also gone into the Disk Utility and ran both Verify and Repair permissions and the same for the boot disk.
Nothing. I'm stumped. Short of trying to flash the ROM on the GFX card I'm not sure what to do. And I'm not comfortable doing that. Help please?
I'm using Final Cut Pro 6 and subsequent older versions of Motion and Compressor, not FCP X or companion series.

  • MacBook Pro 15" video card problems (i think)

Can anyone tell me if this is indeed a video card problem?
    MBP 15" info (Dec. 2011)
Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
    OS X Lion 10.7.5
    This is what happened:
I use my mbp heavily because I edit a lot of videos with Premiere. I also use lightroom / photoshop alot + games. I also installed Parallels desktop late 2013. I don't know if that is relevant but anyway. Everything started late 2013 (a little after installing parallels actually) when there are moments when the audio wouldn't work and I couldn't adjust the volume. It would come back anyway so i didn't mind it. Then the fans were on high speed for little activity. After that the keyboard backlight couldn't be adjusted and wouldnt work. I ignored all of these cuz i wasn't troubling me at the time. In January i left for france to study - I use bike all the time and once stupidly placed my laptop on the basket going to school (rough roads). I had a class with html so I had to open Parallels, my teacher pointed out the fans and how loud they were. That day, parallels desktop said i must upgrade to windows 9 or it will restart every 2hours. I didn't of course. I didn't have time to.
After that (a few days later i think) my laptop would randomly turn into a black screen but it's still on (the power LED is on) I tried turning it off by pressing down the power button and then turning it back on. It worked the first time. During the first week, the frequency of it happening grew. It would do it almost 3 times a day. during that same week I tried to do an SMC reset. It fixed the keyboard light, fans and audio but not the black screen thing. It just keeps on happening around 1-3 times a day. It only happens when I'm using it btw, never when I just leave it. ALSO, after a few days, it would take longer hours to open my mbp again. I mean, the screen would turn black. i would turn it off, then on again. I will ONLY hear the hard drive moving but no startup sound and no grey screen and apple logo. nothing.
The following weeks after that, I asked a friend to help me out. He suggested that I install gfxCardStatus because he said it might be my video card. He instructed that I keep it on intergrated only. So I installed that and did what he said I thought it worked for a while because the black screens stopped happening (even when gfx keeps on going back to dynamic) BUT NOW, MY LAPTOP WOULD FREEZE (not turn black). I'd shut it down using the power button but it still takes me hours to open it again. Sometimes, I'd wait for the battery to drain because it would startup when i charge it (sometimes)
    I tried doing AHT as well to confirm the video card problem, but the results are no problems found. I really don't want to replace my logicboard here in france. everything is more expensive here. ;__;
Today I uninstalled parallels to see if that might have had anything to do with my problem now but i think that's just wishful thinking.
Can somebody tell me if this is really about the video card? Thank you

Your appointment at the genius Bar in an Apple Store (anywhere in the world) for an evaluation is FREE, in warranty or out. Those guys put their hands on these Macs all day every day, and they are especially good at Physical and Power problems.
    Ask them.

  • Survey: Which gfx card really acheives the best results?

So there seems to be a whole host of different success stories with the general speed of Aperture and it would be interesting to see what everyone is running with (gfx card) and if thats perceived as quick enough

I'm on a new Dual Core 2.3 PMG5, with the Nvidia 6600 (256MB, not the LE) card. I'd like to see the 6600 and the 6600 LE side by side sometime to see the difference. My primary reason for getting the 2.3 instead of the 2.0 was the extra 128MB on the nvidia card.
Graphic performance is good. I feel I'm able to sort through hundreds of images at a time efficiently without the graphics effects slowing me down. Adjustments aren't blindingly fast, but definitely usable. Loupe tool works perfectly, and stack and fullscreen transitions are smooth. Unless the 7800 card offered massive improvements in showing live changes to image adjustments, I wouldn't be interested in upgrading, and right now I'm glad I didn't opt for the upgrade.
The stack, autostack, and searching performance problems are what really give me headaches though.

  • Damaged GFX-card or AGP-port? (Fx5700 Ultra)

    Hi
Before I decide to return my gfx-card to the store where I bought it I thought I'd ask you experts what you think of the problem. I would hate to get a new card back and still have "the problem". This is what happened...
Few days back decided to play some CounterStrike: Source, as I've done hundreds of times with this comp. and setup before. Suddenly my FPS drops to 5 and ping goes up to 600+. I checked Task-manager and CPU-usage was going from 20% to 99% with like 1 second intervals. Rebooted etc. and decided it was a problem with CS:s. I tried watching a movie and same thing happened (CPU going crazy and FPS dropping/topping all the time).
I then tried drivers, update MB etc. Nothing worked. So I put in my old GFX-card instead, a GF 4400 Ti, and everything worked like a charm! Video ran smooth and rames ran ok (obviously not as good as with the fx5700). I tried installing my FX5700 again, thinking it might have been a temporary thing, but the problem was/is still here.
Now my GF5700 Ultra ran at 8x AGP, and the old 4400 Ti only ran 4x AGP. So what do you guys think the problem might be ... GFX-card breakdown or AGP (MB) that no longer can handle 8x AGP (for whatever reason)?
Sorry about the long post but I thought I'd give as much info as possible in my first post
and no, no overclocking of any kind have been done. I tried to downclock the 5700 Ultra but problem stayed the same.
Anyone wanna give it a shot or do you need additional info?
    Thanks

yeh ok. I have kind of found the problem, but will post my PSU-specs first for you to comment (I can always buy a better one anyway)
    300W
    +5V - 30A
    +12V - 10A
    -5V - 0.5A
    -12V - 0.8A
    +3.3V - 14A
    +5V grnd - 2A
My GFX-card is broke tho. I just tested it on my buddies computer, who has a 400W PSU, and he got EXACTLY the same problems as I've experienced. What I find particularly odd tho is that I've been having mouseproblems for about 1 month - mouse going crazy once every hour (differs) by lagging ALOT (like the CPU didn't give it any room to even calculate movement etc.). Also I could not boot my computer when mouse was connected to the PS2-port (only USB worked). When my buddy tried my GFX-card he got not only the exact same graphical bugs but his mouse went crazy too - lagging and wouldn't boot if it was connected to PS2-port.
I find this very odd but atleast it proves that the GFX-card is the problem (but how can it be creating PS2-port shutdowns?).
Think I should invest in a new PSU to be on the safe side tho? I will return my GFX-card to get a new one ofcourse. Hope this is not a reaccuring thing for this model.
    Thanks

  • REQUEST: GFX Card temp control for Core Center

    Hi !
I'm using both MSI Mainboard and GFX card, 875P Neo MP (using P4 3.2 GHz Prescott) and GF6800 Ultra AGP GFX card.
I got processor/ northbridge and GFX card watercooled.
I got one problem however, I currently am controlling the fans for the radiator with the fan control for the processor since I sometimes use processor more than GFX card, but I may have to change it to the GFX card fan controller since this also gets hottest some of the time...
I would love if there was possible to add the function to Core Center that would show the GFX card temperature, and then set the fan speed according to the greatest temperature of the GFX/CPU temperatures.
Or if it is easier, if there is a program that can do this allready made, a link to it would be nice
    Thanx
    Regards
    Flaps

There is no thing as system/case temp sensor on theese mobos.Only cpu & nv-chipset .
The temperature you see in corecenter as systemp is actually the nvidia chipset temperature .
Northbridge memory functions is taken over by the athlon 64 , thats why MSI finds it more reasonable to display
the nv-chip temp as systemp (remember that corecenter is an allround app for all msi mobos) .
Rest of the nb/sb functions are implemented as a single chip solution in the nvidia chipset chip.
So the traditional nb/sb solution is no longer existing.
The Athlon 64 and Athlon 64 FX each features its own integrated memory controller—single-channel for the Athlon 64 and dual-channel for the Athlon 64 FX. Instead of connecting to a traditional northbridge, these CPUs connect to a video card through a HyperTransport Graphics Tunnel. Data intended for components like PCI cards, disk drives, and USB peripherals is then routed through a HyperTransport I/O Hub, which is embedded in the core logic chip.

  • X-Fi + 2 GFX-Cards = high CPU-Load, slow Mouse, hanging system

    >X-Fi + 2 GFX-Cards = high CPU-Load, slow Mouse, hanging systemA Hey guys,
I'm running 2 GF 8800 GTs (PCIe .) cards on a MSI Eclipse SLI board. My Audigy2 ZS PCI runned fine in this system.
I just replaced the Audigy by a PCIe X-Fi (EMU20K2 audio processor - not the xtreme audio from MSI).
Now I'm dealing with the following issue:
    - System startup is slow
    - in Windows, Mouse is slow, stuttering
    - high CPU-Load
    - very slow system response
!!! Attention !!! I had this problems allready at the st boot with the X-Fi, when the driver from creative wasn't installed (the card was recognized as "HD Audio" bei Windows 7). Installing the drivers didn't help.
If I install only one graphics card, the system runns fine and I can use the X-Fi and it's Software without problems.
If I replace the X-Fi by the PCIe Xtreme Audio from MSI, System runns fine.
If I use Win XP with the two GFX cards and the X-Fi, System runns fine.
    Can you help me?

    User....

    Hi there,
got the same problem if i use my two Nvidia GTX260.
    My system:
    Asus P6T
    I7 920 @ 3,8GHz
    2GB ram
    Gigabyte GTX260 OC Edition
    Nvidia GTX260
    X-Fi XtremeGamer
-System (Win7x64) takes ~0min to start.
    -Stuttering mouse, keyboard everything >.<
Deactivating the onboard sound doesnt help.
Newest Nvidia and Creative driver too =(
The system runs fine without the X-FI and two GTX260 no errors ect...
One GTX260 runs also fine with the X-FI
But two graphic cards and the X-FI..... **bleep** =/
I use debian as my main OS and it run still fine with both graphic cards and the x-fi...
so i think its just a driver problem.
Hope it will be fixed soon =/
If someone have any sugestions...please help us.
    Greetings from Germany also =D

  • Unobody 17" Macbook Pro 9600M broken gfx card?

Has anyone else been getting some pretty bad issues with the graphics card in the new unibody 17" machines? I have been getting some pretty bad green lines down everything when I use the more powerful GFX card.
This machine is brand new.. the lines do seem to get worse as the card heats up...take a look..

Possibly but I had FOUR macbook pros of the previous incarnation, and this is why they allowed me a replacement with the unibody.. now i have more problems that others seem to be having.. I wonder how long it will be before they determine if this is a hardware fault.. or it can be sorted with firmware?
I cant believe that SO many people have the same issues, surely there can't be so much bad graphic card hardware out there?

  • Maximum resolution a MacMini will go to with a 9400M GFX card?

    Hi,
I've read all the posts about people attaching their MacMini to various monitors, but my question is what is the very maximum resolution that the MacMini 9400M GFX card will go to?
I am hoping for a 24" screen so I can use Xcode etc in lots of space. Currently using 4:3 19" monitor.

Dave have you put a 30" on the Mini and/or do you know how it coped?
    No, I haven't.
One issue I can imagine is heat because the internals will be working much harder to display all those pixels, would hate to risk damaging my Mini!
Apple has designed the Mac mini to support that resolution and explicitly lists that capability in the specifications, so I can't believe that unless the Mac was defective that there would be a problem with heat.
    Regards.

  • Missing 9600M!!! now my MB Pro only has one gfx card:  9400M

Hi, this post is more for checking if anyone else had this problem. Or just to alert... here is what happened:
I had a new Macbook Pro (those new aluminum ones) from about one month. It was a BTO: 4gb ram and 320Gb HD.
I never tested 3D games to check if it had the "Black Screen of death" or "nvidia bug". I always preferred to thought that my version was not afected by this. And plus expected later that apple get a fix or something.
Anyway I mostly had 9400M in use, since I didn't required much 3d power, and I got 1 more hour of battery use. My system always runned fine.
I had BootCamp with Vista Enterprise, where I develop in .Net c#, but I used always thru VMWARE, not booting natively. Only done native Vista boot a couple of times to make some major Vista updates, or installs. But working is usually mad with VMWARE. plus I use Spaces, 4 of them.
    So,
Last 4 days ago, I was using my OSX, already updated to 10.5.6 (plus a fix from apple); checking emails, and running same time VMWARE, shutted down the machine and went home. At home I booted with Vista, just to perform some defrag...
Strangely I didn’t get any screen, but Vista was booting ok, making that vista boot sounds etc etc. but no screen...
later in OSX I went to Prefs to change to 9600M, but didn't had that option! Checked the hardware profile and only reported that I had one Gfx card: 9400M.
Made a hardware test with apple DVD, checked there and in hardware profile - and same thing, no 9600M!
When making hardware test passing by Logic Board test it gave an error!!! O man!... why me?...
the 9600M completely vanished! I reinstalled the OSX (thought it could be the 10.5.6) but no success.
I returned to the store - here in Portugal at Christmas time we can return the goods until Jan 10.
Now I am expecting a new BTO, maybe 3 weeks or so. Maybe I have some luck and its a new revision... hope so.

I know... there where 2 options (2 radio buttons) before, and now are not there anymore...
for example, booting with vista, since it only uses the hight performance card, it boots ok but without any screen! first I thought I was booting from external monitor... but I dont have any.

  • K8T Neo FIS2R wont detect gfx card

Hi, im back again with a brand spankin new mobo (old one was faulty).
The problem this time is that it wont detect the gfx card. I've tried the Radeon 9800 and my GF4800Ti. Both work in my old reliable PC, but not in the one I'm building.
This means that when i turn on the comp, my screen wont acknowledge theres a signal coming to it.
Also a problem wih the power switch. The power switch turns it on, but wont turn it off :/.
Any troubleshooting tips anyone can give me? :(

Ok, take the RAM out and try to boot with the just the MB and CPU right after you have reset the CMOS.  See if you get beeps.  Also a couple of other things to suggest.
Have you checked the connections from the speaker inside the box to the front panel and then on to the MB?  Also the connections from the power switch on the front panel likewise on to the MB?
Is posbible that its posting correctly, espceially without the video card, but you jst can't hear it.
Also I don't see that you ever tried to start up with a graphics card that you know works in another machine.  Can you try that too?
