GG Extract generates enormous number of trail files when transfers large blob

Hello experts
In working GG environment we tried to transfer large blob about 400MB - extract began to generate enormous number of trail files(thousands files) with no error messages.
We played with trail file size - increased up to 1GB but result was same.
Can you help with that issue?

We have the application that put data into DB and I suspect it can send data in smaller chunks.
Can we check in DB how it uses dbms_lob.write?

MBPro crashes when transfering large number of files

i have a MBPro 2008 and recently when i transfer a large number of video files [over 5GB] my computer will suddendly crash in the middle of the transfer.
i'm usually not using it while its transfering. This is a very recent problem.

How large is you HD and how much space do you have left?
Try the following:
Disconnect all devices from the computer then do the following:
Boot up from your Snow Leopard Install DVD while holding down the "c" key.
Select the language you wish to use, and then choose "Disk Utility" from the menu bar.
Your HD should appear in a panel on the left hand side of the window which opens. Select it and then click on the "repair disk" button in the right hand section of the window.
Once this process has been completed restart your computer and repair permissions directly from Disk Utility.
If Disk Utility is unable to complete the repair, you will need to use a stronger 3rd party utility like DiskWarrior, Techtool PRO (not Deluxe) or Drive Genius.

Junk files when transferring music to my W800i (only on Mac, not on Windws)

When ripping CDs using iTunes in Windows to .m4a, I'm able to transfer these .m4a files to my Sony Ericsson W800i phone with no problems, and when browsing the tunes on the Walkman software, the songs come up in order, with the correct titles and am able to play all the files.
However, I've just bought a new Macbook, and have attempted to do the same thing, ie, rip CDs to .m4a format in iTunes, and then transfer the tunes to my W800i. The files transfer across ok, but when I view the tunes using the Walkman software on the phone, not only do the files themselves show up, but a bunch of non-playable junk files show up as well.
EG:
If I transferred U2's "All that you can't leave" album to my phone in Windows, on the Walkman software, the following would show up on the phone screen:
Beautiful Day
Stuck in A Moment
Elevation
Walk On
Kite
In A Little While
Transferred across using the Macbook:
Beautiful Day
._Beautiful Day.m4a
Stuck in A Moment
._Stuck in A Moment.m4a

When I enable "Show Hidden Files" using the terminal, these extra "._abc.m4a" files don't appear on either the harddrive of the mac, or the memory stick of the W800i.
The "._abc.m4a" files don't play, and the Walkman software skips them when playing, however, when playing a 12 track album, the total number of songs shows as 24, and the software will skip from track 1 to 3 to 5, etc.
When I check out these files using the File Manager on the W800i, the files show up here as well, but when I press the information dialogue, the filesize doesn't show up, nor a length (where for the playable files it would show up 1.8MB, 2:40minutes).
Does anyone know why these junk files are created when the the files are transferred across using the Mac, and not when using Windows? Any help would be much appreciated.

I've used Bluetooth in the past to transfer files, and the junk files are not created, only when using USB. And I'd rather put up with the junk files than wait for 2gigs worth of songs to transfer by Bluetooth.
However, if there is a way of transferring these files without the junk via USB, then that would be extremely helpful.

Adobe Professional generating aab01152 (and like named) files when trying to entered data in comment

We are trying to make comments in a pdf that then digitally sign it and save it. This has worked fine for months and now it is giving us problems. When trying to save the pdf we'll received the "unspecified error" message or the program will simply lock up or close on its own. Sometimes the digital signature will save, but not the comments. It will work for some users and not others and even work for some users on the same workstation, but not others on that same workstation. In addtion in the folder the pdf is located it has been generating aa*(such as aab00152, aab001280, etc) files w/ no extension. Thanks!

I meant the File->Save option should not be gray if you "make a change" anywhere in the document. I only have access to an OSX Server remotely to illustrate this point so SimpleText should help you understand what I mean by a grayed out menu item:

You can get to the Save As dialog so clearly grayed out menu items wasn't the issue. Moving on..
Your screenshot buttons may be unresponsive but they also aren't "grayed out". Here's a Save dialog with a truely grayed out button:

Accurately describing your issue here will help quite a bit. The "save crash" issue has been so rampant it's the first suggestion I had so I offered it. Often repairing the FLA fixed the saving mechanism.
In your case I honestly haven't come across your issue so I have no more suggestions outside reinstall Flash completely. Good luck.

Lost iWork registration and iWeb files when transferring to new computer

Transferred iWork from my old computer to my new one but I need a new serial number to re-register it for some reason - but I've lost it. How can I find it again?
Also, where are my iWeb files? It's just opened with a blank page.

WiFi breaks when transferring large file over LAN

Hi guys,My WiFi mostly behaves itself, however if I try to transfer a large file (The last one was ~1GB) over the LAN (standard SMB file copy), WiFi drops out. It gets roughly 30MB through before connectivity is lost.The WiFi continues to show as connected, but I cannot even ping my router.Only disconecting and reconnecting WiFi re-establishes the connection.Any idea what's up? (My router is the black 'home hub' style. I can't find any version information in it's admin panel.) (And before someone asks, no I'm not telling you the contents of the file as it isn't relevant. With the greatest of respect, if you just ask unrelated questions to pry, please don't waste everyones time.)

Edit:Just got off the phone from Sky technical support.This issue was first reported Nov/Dec 2014.The chap I spoke to does not know of a fix, or whether a fix is being worked on, or if a fix will ever be worked on.He has not way of contacting the development team to find out any of this information.He said firmware updates are pushed out to routers every now and again. He does not know when this is going to happen and does not have a way to notify about firmware updates installed on my router. (This terrifies me. Sky have a backdoor into my router and can install any code they wish, without even telling me what they changed/installed). There is no way to turn these auto-updates off either. Here's a key thing he did say though:He said he was not at liberty to provide my ADSL credentials, but if I chose to extract them from the router and install my own router instead, they would not have any problem with that.When I told him that this was against their TOS and they could terminate my contract for doing this, he went silent and just said "errr..." Allowing Sky, their subcontractors and anyone else they choose to install any code they wish to my router whenever they please and have free open access to my entire LAN is a total deal breaker for me. That router is getting unplugged today and I'm putting a new router on the credit card. I told tech support this. I said if they have a problem with that, let's go the legal route. I literally have a recorded call where they give me permission to install my own router.

Lost connection between airport extreme and macbook air when transferring large files

Can anyone help...?
I have an imac and macbook air wirelessly connected to a airpot extreme being used as a router with a hard drive for sharing files accross the network.
It connects ok but when we try and look at a number of large files one after the other, or copy files from the shared hard drive onto the macbook air, the macbook loses wireless connection?
A very strange issue which i cant figure out....

Error message on first file when transferring 5 files from DVD to MP4. Remaining 4 files transfer

"File Import Failure". "This file has an unsupported compression type."
However, I have 5 of the same file type. I can copy file 01_1 to my desktop and run it. The remaining 4 files copy over fine. They are all the same size from same DVD with the same file type.

We are now using a different program. Adobe didn't like the file. It works in other program. Thank you for your help.

USB key ejecting itself when transferring large files

I have a LG 16G USB key formatted in MacOS extended (journaled), I've been encountering a particular issue when I try to transfer files taken on another computer and copying them from the key to my Macbook pro ( OSX 10.6.2). after it start transferring it ejects itself with the "the disk was not ejected properly" message, then reappears right away in the finder...
the problem doesn't present itself when I copy a file from my macbook pro to the key, and then try transferring it back to my computer. and I've tried this with both small files (under 200mb) and large files (over 4G).
I've also noticed the transfer rate is very slow when this happens.
so far the problem only presents itself when I transfer files from one of the MacPro's in my university's studios, but since I work a lot on these machine, this is becoming quite a problem. I don't have the complete specs of these machines, they all run on Leopard, probably 10.5.something. not SL... perhaps that's the problem?
I've seen similar post on the forum concerning this issue with TimeMachine backup drives, suggesting it had something to do with the sleep preferences, however I've tried all the potential solutions from these post and the problem persists.
So far the only solution I've found has been to transfer the files to my girlfriend's macbook (running on tiger), and then transferring the files in target mode from her computer to mine... quite inconvenient...
I have a feeling this might be due to the formatting of my key, I have a 2G USB key formatted in MS-DOS (FAT32) and have had no problems with it so far. The reason I formatted in Mac OS extended is simple, I work in the video field and with HD I find myself often moving around single files larger then 4GB, which I've come to understand isn't possible in FAT 32.
I'd like to know how to resolve this, and especially like to know if it is indeed a format issue, since I'm soon going to acquire a new external hard drive for the sole purpose of storing my increasing large media files and would like to know how to format it.

I have an external USB Card reader (indeed - two different readers), which have the same problems with self-ejecting disks. Every transfer of data from SD card from my camera is the pain now. There is many different themes related to the self-"the disk was not ejected properly" situation, but no working solution now.

Privileges problem when transferring large files

This just happened, and I don't know what changed. I cannot transfer large files from my Macbook Pro to my MacPro desktop, neither on the network nor by a USB hard drive. I get the infamous "You do not have sufficient privileges" message. The files start copying, and after about 1gb or so, the message pops up. Small files no problem, there's no restriction on those. It does not matter which disk I am trying to copy it to.
I thought it was just a problem with iMovie files and folders (these get big fast), but it seems to be an issue with any large file. I have repaired permissions on both disks, I have made sure that the unlock key is unlocked and that all the boxes are checked "Read & Write".
And this problem just arose today. Nothing has changed, so far as I know.

I assume I am always logged in as administrator because I have never logged in as anything else. It also does not matter from what folder, or even disk drive, I am trying to transfer from. If the file is above a certain size, it stops transferring and I get the error.
What interests me is not that I immediately get the "insufficient privileges" error when I try and transfer a forbidden folder or file. I've seen that. This happens after about a gig of data has transferred over already, then that error pops up.

      File_Name                   1..1 ( This is also below main node with the same level of Logistic   Info structure)
(Tried to insert a pic of the mapping but was unsuccesful)
We are trying to move a file from XI to FTP. the file is being created in FTP succesfully but an extra blank line is being inserted at the end of the file.
After lot of investigation we could trace the it is because of the File_Name field data is being not moved to inbound file.( Here we are using the File_Name field data for creating a file name in FTP. i.e., the File_Name is the File name under which our data is being stored in FTP and that is the reason we are not using File_Name in Content Conversion)
Can you please suggest ways so that the empty line is not created.

IPhoto deleted all my RAW files when transferring??

All my RAW files, 30 GB, from my summre holiday, just disappeared. Are there any way to recover them?? This was what happened:
1) I was in Sweden on holiday, brought my Macbook and left my iMac at home
2) I took a lot of picutres, and transferred them over to my Macbook after every day/photo ocassion
3) I got back home with 30 GB of photos on my Macbook, to transfer to my iMac as to edit them there, with better speed and bigger screen
4) I transferred all the pictures by copy them from iPhoto and paste them into a USB stick, then insert them into Aperture
5) When I now start to edit in Aperture, I notice that all the photos are JPEG. Before, in iPhoto, one RAW and on JPEG would be displayed, but after copied into Aperture, they are both JPEG. They will be named for instance "IMG_3241" and "IMG_3241 2", but both files are JPEG!
6) I already deleted the original files from my Macbook, so all that remains are double sets of JPEGs
How the **** can it be this way? I really copied RAW and JPEG into the USB stick, but then they come out as only JPEG, and a double set of JPEG as well.
Anyone got idea on how to recover those RAWs? Maybe this thread can also serve as warning for people not repeating the same mistake.

How exactly did you do the transfer? If you copy and paste from iPhoto, you will only copy the preview images (jpeg files), even if the original images are raw. The same will happen, if you drag from iPhoto. So your USB stick probably only contained jpegs. To export your original raw files, you need to use the file menu:
File > Export > (Kind: Original)
The best way to import from iPhoto to Aperture would be to import the iPhoto library into the Aperture library. This way you will transfer all your edits.
Do you have a backup of your iPhoto Library?
If you did not work with your MacBook recently after deleting the iPhoto Library, you might try to use recovery software, like Disk Drill, to recover your original raw files.

Can't open video files when transferred to external hard drive, but can preview them?

I'm trying to clean up the disk space on my Mac because I have too many HD files. However, when I copied them onto my external hard drive, and tried to open them there, I can't. However, I can "preview" the files. Is it safe to erase my hard disk? Or has something gone wrong?

iMovie will only recognize drives that are formatted as Mac OS Extended (journaled), not FAT32. This is because of an architectural limitation of FAT32 which does not allow files sizes of 4GB or larger. Video can quickly reach this size.
You can either get a new drive and format it, or you can reformat your current drive. If you reformat your current drive, it will erase all data that is currently on it. Shout out if you need detailed instructions for the reformatting.
